I know it ain’t cool for laughing at people for getting injured, but yes, I find this pretty hilarious for some reason. This gives me the laughs.
This incident is just a warning for Brett to not release a new Poison album…

The summer is here. The time of year where summer concerts is around. I don’t go to national concerts anymore, but only if bands come around that I love, I’ll go see for sure.
The only concert I’ll be going to see this summer is the reunited Phish at SPAC in Saratoga Springs. I sure am looking forward to this one. Phish is a favorite live band of mine. I don’t own any of their CD’s, I just enjoy seeing them live more. I think Phish plays the best live shows in the major label industry.
I have been to plenty of hippie concerts, so I know how crazy they are and I know what they are like. I’m just going to this show for the live music of Phish, of course. I ain’t going to SPAC hours before the show to party hard with a bunch of hippie strangers, I’m not going to that concert for that. I’ll arrive at SPAC at the time the show starts.
In these type of concerts, of course, most people attending the show would be either really drunk or stoned or worse, tripping on acid, etc. These people don’t really bother me, as I don’t pay attention to it but the concert itself. I go to the hippie jam band concerts for the music, not to party. Yes, I’ve always been a fan of the hippie jam band genre for years. I grew up on that music.
After the summer’s over, then I’ll be seeing Metallica in Albany in Nov.
I also want to see AC/DC and Elton John/Billy Joel at the Times Union Center but tickets to those two shows are pretty pricey, I don’t want to spend a lot of money on concerts.
Phish and Metallica is good enough for me.

Alice In Chains, has signed a new record deal with major label EMI and is due for a new record release sometime in Sept. This will be the band’s first studio album in more than 10 years. Alice In Chains reunited in 2005 with a new singer. His name is William Duvall, the new Alice In Chains frontman.
In between Layne’s death and recruiting a new singer for Alice In Chains, Jerry Cantrell released a few solo albums and toured for both of them. The new Alice In Chains is excited and happy to give us their new songs, so am I. I can’t wait to hear them.
I’ve been an obsessive Alice In Chains and Jerry Cantrell fanatic for many years. I don’t know how good this new singer will be, I just want to hear Jerry’s great guitar playing. In my opinion, Jerry Cantrell has always been one of rock’s best guitar players out of everybody out there.

I’ve heard from unsigned bands and songwriters all over the world, that they claim that myspace helps their music get heard, get success and become more popular. The thing I have to ask is, really? Does myspace really helps unsigned bands and artists get to the next level? The way I see it, myspace doesn’t do anything.
When I used have my myspace music account up, I used to think that myspace was going to help me get to the next level by hoping to get signed to some small indie label or some sort. Never happened.
I’ve been noticing that a lot of bands and artists would add as much people as they possible can, just so they can make themselves look popular. They would add as much other bands as possible, they would add as much hot looking women to their pages as possible, etc. I used to do the same thing when I had my music account up. Does this really make you a popular musician? Bands also like to treat myspace friends like fans when in reality they only added you for their own networking. Many people could give a rats ass about you, or your music.
Yes, I know it’s possible to get actual fans of your music in myspace but the truth is, it don’t really happen much, I am noticing.
I know the truth hurts and it’s sometimes hard to face reality, but you have to realize that all myspace is just a big piece of fantasy land that musicians are all living in.
You’re not going to become a Dave Matthews Band or a Metallica, just by having a myspace account although a lot of bands and musicians like to look like famous people.
As I said in my previous blog, myspace isn’t helping you. You’re only helping the “myspace” site itself get more powerful.
I know myspace is just a promoting and marketing tool, but I wish people would stop obsessing with that site. That’s what myspace and News Corp wants, is you to obsess with it and feel addicted to it, they’re just doing whatever it takes to keep people there. People left myspace, going to facebook more now instead, I can see why.
Unsigned bands won’t delete their accounts and leave myspace ’cause they are all living under this delusion that they think myspace helps their music. Myspace is really useless to your music.
There are better ways of getting your music out there on the internet other than myspace. You just got to do some quick thinking and planning things over.
Kev
Many bands/artists, famous or not, think myspace is good networking for your music. If you get a reality check and get out of your delusional minds for once, myspace has actually destroyed the music industry. Not make it better. Why haven’t I came back to myspace music with a Kev Brock music account yet? ’cause myspace is not the direction I want to go with my songs. I refuse to do anything to help promote myspace with my music.
All you bands out there, that have music accounts, you are not only promoting your music and helping yourself out, you are helping helping and spreading the word on myspace too.
I don’t go to myspace music. I don’t listen to bands in myspace music anymore. I hate going through those ten songs and then getting a pop up ad linking us to some other artist/band in myspace. Myspace gets worse everytime.
Why are albums of famous bands get leaked before release date, and then the artist uploads the entire album to myspace ’cause of the leak? It’s all because of myspace. Myspace doesn’t make your music career better, it doesn’t get you recognized.
Why would you want myspace music shoving this female artist named Katie Voegele in our faces (which she is not a great artist anyways)? Why do you think Katie Voegele is myspace music’s prominent music artist? It’s because YOU let it happen. Just by simply registering to a myspace music account to promote your own music, you helped Katie Voegele become a signed musician.
Myspace is crap for the musc industry and it isn’t a good promotional tool, if you get a reality check. That’s why myspace keeps adding all these cool new features just to get people to stay on the site and get more people to register. I hate myspace ’cause it’s nothing but advertisements there in the music section and it was giving me a headache. I don’t see how people can waste all that time doing all that work: adding friends, promoting your music, gigs, etc. It’s just all a big fucking waste of time, myspace is.
I’ve been using facebook a lot more often these days. I don’t use my facebook account for my music though, I use it for my own personal use to keep in touch with online friends. I use facebook a lot more often ’cause I am planning on deleting my myspace personal account too.
People stopped buying records in the music scores ’cause I blame myspace for that also. Myspace isn’t great marketing for your music.
Will bands ever stop going to myspace and stop making myspace pages ’cause they think it will help get them recognized? NO. They’ll continue to stay in their delusional minds. All those bands in myspace, famous or not, you are not helping your music. You are all kissing Rupert Murdoch’s ass by supporting him, just by simply having an account when you are not even realizing it. Yes, it is true. You all support News Corp. Not yourself and your music fans. All the News Corp sleazy big shots care about is marketing “myspace”. Myspace doesn’t help your music, it did nothing but help “myspace” take over the world.
That’s the point I’m trying to get at here. Yep, I blame myspace for turning today’s music industry so mainstream and pop. I miss the days when myspace wasn’t around and good music was around back then too.
Kev

I know Ozzy Osbourne is getting a lot of shit and hate about suing Tony Iommi about him being the only owner of the “Black Sabbath” band name, him being the registrant of the trademark. If you actually think about it, Ozzy has valid points on why all band members should own their share of the trademark. Tony and Ozzy both formed Black Sabbath together, I can understand why Ozzy is pissed about this.
To you music fans that don’t know anything about Black Sabbath, do some resarch on their history. Listen to all their albums with Ozzy as the frontman. Black Sabbath has sold the most records more than any other band in America, only the ones with Ozzy as frontman. These guys are the inventors and pioneers of this genre they created in the 70’s, called heavy metal. The guys don’t deserve ownership of the band name?
The band’s debut album, “Black Sabbath” made certified platinum. They don’t deserve ownership of the band name? What about their next album, “Paranoid” which is their biggest selling album in history and that album is an essential.
Black Sabbath is the most influential band of all time. Without the band, we would get no Metallica, we would get none of those 80’s hair metal bands or metal music wouldn’t be around at all. Black Sabbath created the metal genre for us. Don’t fucking tell me that Ozzy Osbourne isn’t in the right for this lawsuit, ’cause if you think about it, Ozzy did a great thing.
Tony claims he owns Black Sabbath all for himself because he is trademarked to it, and Ozzy is trying to prove that he doesn’t own it for himself. It isn’t about the money with Ozzy’s suit. It’s all about the legacy and the fame that the band created with Ozzy being part of the band. It’s not about jealousy and it isn’t an ego thing either.
If you use a little common sense, you’ll figure it out.
Read some of Black Sabbath’s history and information here in wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sabbath#Black_Sabbath_and_Paranoid_.281970.E2.80.931971.29
Read books about the band, read magazine articles about ’em, see their videos, live concert DVD’s, etc. Then you’ll start to understand why Ozzy Osbourne has a valid point in this suit.
I’m an avid Black Sabbath fan, I totally agree that it is wrong that Tony kept the band name all for himself. Hopefully, Tony will do the smart thing and sell some of the trademark to share with each band member.
I think Tony will agree with it. He seems like a good man with a good heart, I’m sure he’ll take upon Ozzy’s request. I’ll be on the lookout for more news on this.
Kev

Ozzy Osbourne, has filed a lawsuit against the legendary guitarist, Tony Iommi. Tony and Ozzy teamed up together in the late 60’s to form a heavy metal band, named Black Sabbath. Ozzy was fired from the band in 1980 due to heavy drug use and heavy drinking. Later, the band continued on, and replaced Ozzy with Ronnie James Dio. The band still used the Black Sabbath name even without Ozzy.
The guys in Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio are now under a new name of, Heaven and Hell, which they are still together, playing and touring today.
More on it here:
http://www.reuters.com/article/musicNews/idUSTRE54T00420090530
Sorry, Ozzy, but Tony Iommi, DOES own the copyright and trademark name to the Black Sabbath band name.
I have the proof…
From the trademark website, read who’s the registrant to the Black Sabbath name which is still live, this means Tony still has the right to use the name whenever he wants:
http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4002:47kccp.2.2
Ozzy will lose this one, big time. Wow, talk about a big stab in the back, Ozzy, you egomaniac.
Kev
Edit to add: Ozzy just released a statement for the public, being a little more clear on the lawsuit that he wants the Black Sabbath name to be trademarked by all 4 members of Black Sabbath since they created more of a legacy then, Ronnie James Dio. I’ll take back with what I said above, and I’ll now agree with Ozzy. Ozzy actually has a good point that Black Sabbath should be owned by all 4 members. Ozzy was a pretty important member of the band which is why he deserves ownership too. So maybe this lawsuit is a good thing. My bad!

Eminem’s fantastic new rap album, “Relapse” surprisingly did well in sales for the Billboard charts. It sold the most copies of any other album released this year.
Variety Reports:

I had a feeling this was going to be the most selling album anyways.
It is his best album I think. “Relapse” is pretty amazing stuff. I like Eminem for so many reasons.

I tried to find the youtube video to this but look like the coward took it down. Him blaming the haters for beating up Rihanna.

Once a woman beater, always a woman beater. It doesn’t matter how much of an annoying bitch a woman is, you never hit her, not even a punch in the shoulder either. If she punches you first, you don’t hit back.
If she is about to kill you with a knife or a gun, it’s okay to attack her back for self defense, only if it’s something life theatening… that’s it…but reacting with violence now matter how angry she makes you is wrong.
Chris is just doing whatever it takes to save his so called music career.

The Glastonbury UK music festival is announced, see the official line up here:
http://www.nme.com/news/glastonbury/44875
While Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen are both scheduled to perform on a different night, you know those two will pull on a surprise jam session where they will play guitar and sing together for a few songs. I’m sure Neil will probably perform his new album, “Fork In the Road”, in it’s entirety at Glastonbury during his set. Of course, Neil will play all of his classics too.
They can do without Lady Gaga being part of the fest, it’s not a bad lineup. I personally think Glastonbury should ditch Lady Gaga and book M.I.A instead.
