Phish, I don’t understand all the hate toward this band… I’ve always loved them!

Part of the reason why I love Phish so much is ’cause they are a fun and unpredictable band to listen to. Many fans turned their back on Phish and stopped supporting them. They are now one of the most hated jam bands out there now and I can’t understand why. To me they are just a regular band just like all bands. Playing music ’cause they love it. They have fun doing it. That’s one of the reasons why I respect that band ’cause of their passion for music and they do show it when they get on that stage.

I finished listened to Phish’s studio albums. Their entire catalog of albums I listened to this week. While I enjoyed listening to Phish’s studio albums, it’s even more fun listening to them live, though. Either listening to them live in person or listening to their live albums is more fun ’cause why? Phish is more of a live band than a studio band. That’s why a lot of Phish songs on their studio albums are pretty short but when they play their songs live, they extend them into an improvised jam. They never play their songs the same way twice either. That’s another reason I respect them so much.

Another reason I respect them ’cause all the guys in Phish are very talented musicians. I respect the talent of each member: Trey, Mike, Jon and Page. Phish has always been the same 4 guys. They never had any lineup changes.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Phish and still love them now. I’ve never turned my back on them: What are my favorite albums by Phish? While I do like them all a lot… my favorites would have to be “Rift”, “Hoist”, “Farmhouse”, “Lawn Boy” and their latest record, “Fuego” is an amazing record. I would say “Fuego” is their best record.

Phish is one band that deserves an induction in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and it’s kind of crazy they aren’t in yet.

Love Phish or hate them all you want to but this band is very successful. They still sell out arena shows everywhere. I respect the hell out of this band.

Maybe part of the reason people hate them is the drugs which is understandable but I don’t care about the drugs… I Just love the music and the band’s musicianship. Plus they are fun as hell to dance to at their live shows which is what they’re all about.

Phish is a genius band. I’ll always respect them. I don’t care what the haters think.

Music I’ve been listening to on Apple Music lately…

I’ve just finished listening to all Motorhead studio albums on Apple Music. Now Apple Music doesn’t have Motorhead’s entire catalog of albums. Motorhead is missing several of their albums from the Itunes store/Apple Music so I just listened to what they had on there. I fuckin’ love Motorhead, though! They play more than just heavy metal & blues. They do acoustic music and ballads too. As I listen to Motorhead’s older albums and new stuff, I’ve noticed that Lemmy’s singing voice has changed over the years.

I always wondered why Lemmy always sings with that growling voice of his. Probably part of that is because he’s a heavy smoker. He’s done drugs too, I believe but even though he doesn’t sing regularly like he used to without the growling, he’s still a great singer. I like the growling and snarly voice of Lemmy Kilmister… that’s a part of what makes Motorhead great. While I love all Motorhead albums, my favorite albums would have to be: “Ace of Spades”, “Aftershock”, “1916”, “Bomber” and “Iron Fist”. Motorhead has got a new album coming out later this month and can’t wait to hear that one as well. I’ve always wanted to get into Motorhead and finally got to. They are one of my favorite bands right now.

I’ve also listened to all 4 albums by the Runaways. Ya know that all female punk rock group with Joan Jett, Cherie Currie, Lita Ford, etc. I thought those albums were great as well. I love the Runaways and all their solo projects. I love Joan Jett’s solo stuff and I love LIta Ford’s solo stuff as well.

I’m also trying to listen to the rest of the Al Di Meola’s catalog ’cause I really am into his music. Al Di Meola’s music is addicting to me so I can’t stop listening to his stuff. Last night, I listened to his album, “Winter Nights” which is of course, a Christmas album. I love Al Di Meola’s music ’cause when I want to listen to relaxing music, I’ll listen to him. I just love his guitar playing and his music is fun to listen to.

This week, I’m gonna start listening to all of Megadeth’s albums and all of Phish’s albums. Last night, I listened to Megadeth’s album “Killing Is My Business” and Phish’s first album, “Junta”.  I’m a big Megadeth and Phish fan. I’ve heard some of their albums already but not all of them. Now that Apple Music is here and free, I’ll be able to listen to the rest of ’em.

Yeah, I listen to a lot of music albums and don’t feel ashamed for it. I listen to about 3 or 4 albums a day, sometimes more. I like to listen to full albums. Listen to an album from start to finish. That’s how I listen to music and it’s the way that it should be listened to. I’m not selective of what songs to hear, I listen to the whole damn record. Listening to music to me is way better than watching TV. I’ve always have been a big music listener my whole life and always listened to albums. Music is who I am and what I do. I will never change that.

I always found it important to listen to as much music as possible.

Finished listening to those Led Zeppelin deluxe albums… they were awesome too!

Well this week I listened to all 9 Led Zeppelin deluxe albums that Jimmy Page just put out. It was great to re-listen to all the Led Zep studio albums and it was even better to listen to all the unreleased material that Jimmy included on the deluxe albums.

The albums sounded great too! Much improved in sound quality… why do you think they’re called “remasters”? They’re called “remasters” so they can master them all over again for a better sound, ya know? Make ’em more listenable like I said before.

Anyway, while I do love all Led Zeppelin albums, there is one Led Zep album that I admittedly don’t really like. That album is of course, “In Through The Outdoor”. While I do have most Led Zep albums on CD, the only one I don’t have is “In Through The Outdoor” ’cause it wasn’t a good Led Zep album. Why wasn’t that album good? Well, basically it’s because that John Paul Jones did most of the writing of that record. The band decided to give Jonesy most of the songwriting contribution to that record to see what direction they would take with the music. It turns out that Jonesy writes songs differently than the other guys for sure. “In Through The Outdoor” wasn’t a great record ’cause it didn’t feel like a Led Zeppelin album. The album was too mellow and I expect to hear a hard rockin’ Led Zep, ya know what I mean?

Back to the deluxe editions, these were pretty cool to listen to. I really enjoyed hearing the unreleased material. You get to hear different versions of the well-known songs and there are plenty of unreleased songs too.

A lot of important history with these albums as you listen to them. My favorite part of these Deluxe albums is that there are some songs that while the songs are playing you can hear the song getting “mixed” while it’s being played so Jimmy must be at the mixing board fooling around with the controls.

There are all kinds of cool stuff on these albums so I would suggest you to listen to these yourself if you’re a Led Zeppelin fan. Now that I finally listened to all these Deluxe albums, I think I’m gonna buy them all for sure. Not through the Itunes store, I’m thinking of buying the physical CD’s ’cause I want the album cover and all. The physical CD’s of the Led Zep deluxe editions are kind of pricey like $16.99 but I’ll get ’em anyway.

I really thought Jimmy Page did a phenomenal job on them. Below are a few tracks from the unreleased material. Just to give you a little preview of them. Enjoy.

My top 10 favorite bands of all time…

Since I’m such a big music lover, some of you may wonder what my top 10 favorite bands are. I’ll name my top 10 favorite bands… the bands with a “name” that are national. I’ll name 10 in no particular order. Bands that have inspired me over the years and are heroes of mine:

  • Led Zeppelin
  • The Jimi Hendrix Experience
  • The Allman Brothers
  • The Grateful Dead
  • Metallica
  • Dream Theater
  • Queensryche
  • Motorhead
  • Black Sabbath (Ozzy & Dio era)
  • Phish

As you can see I like a mixture of jam band and metal ’cause I love both, that’s why. Honestly, I love all kinds of music though.

Tomorrow I’ll name my favorite artists of all time.

Will Apple Music survive??? Probably not…

Look like Apple Music is not getting enough support. Look like they won’t top Spotify even thought they thought they could. Will Apple get rid of “Apple Music” once they realize that not many people support it? We’ll have to wait and see. They could get rid of Apple Music and just keep the Itunes store when they find it’s not successful.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/reuters/article-3188911/Apple-Music-attracts-11-mln-trial-members-June-30.html

I have no issues with Apple Music and think they did a pretty good job with it. During the 3 month trial while it’s still going… I got to listen to plenty of free music. Got to listen to albums by bands & artists I always wanted to hear. Currently I’m listening to all the Led Zeppelin Deluxe remasters and I’m still listening to Motorhead albums. I’m also trying to listen to the rest of Al Di Meola’s discography. I’ve also been listening to that all-girl rock group, The Runaways and listened to Lita Ford’s solo albums.

Yeah, I’ve been listening to a lot of music on it. I don’t think Apple Music would be bigger than Spotify. Maybe I should go back to Spotify? Not sure yet. Still got plenty of time to decide ’cause my Apple Music free trial ends Oct. 3rd.

I think Apple Music will be around forever even if it’s not as successful, I don’t think they’ll get rid of it. We’ll see how it goes though. I think Apple Music is pretty good. Could be better but I liked what they did with it.

Those Led Zeppelin deluxe remasters are pretty awesome! I’m impressed with them…

When Jimmy released those 10 albums in remasters and Deluxe editions, he got so much criticism for doing this. People accused him of wanting a cash grab and all that stuff but they probably aren’t really Led Zeppelin fans. Well, I just started listening to the Led Zeppelin deluxe remasters albums this week since they are all out now. I listened to the first three albums. While the Deluxe version still have the original albums on them, there are about 8 or 9 extra material like live stuff, outtakes, alternate mixes and rough mixes. There are also never before heard songs on them too. You can originally hear how the band develops the well known songs of how they first started which is interesting. Plus the sound quality on the “remasters” improved too ’cause why do you think they call them “remasters”? The “remasters” versions are the better sound quality than the original recordings.

In defense of legendary bands doing all of these “remasters” these days, I think they just want the albums to sound better or something like that. Maybe they weren’t too impressed with the original sound quality on the first releases so they produce them all over again, ya know? Better sound and make ’em more listenable. It’s not a cash grab at all, I think there’s a pretty good reason that bands do these “remasters” of famous albums. Back in the old days, recording technology wasn’t as good. Since we now have the right technology to make music sound better, it is the right time to do these “remasters”. There were never Pro Tools and other DAW back in the old days.

I’m impressed with these Led Zeppelin Deluxe albums so far. While I only listened to the first three albums, I plan on listening to the rest of ’em this week. I’ll listen to “IV: Zoso” later tonight. They are pretty awesome to listen to and interesting. Stop complaining and just enjoy them. Jimmy Page made these for the fans obviously ’cause he wants to celebrate the music with you… that’s what he did this for, I think.

John Mayer joins the surviving members of the Dead for Madison Square Garden show…

The surviving members of the Grateful Dead has formed a new band but under a different name called, “Dead and Company”. They are booked for one show at Madison Square Garden for Halloween night of this year. When the Grateful Dead used to be around, they used to play MSG all the time. John Mayer, guitarist & singer/songwriter will be joining the Dead for that night.

It looks like Phil Lesh isn’t gonna participate for this show

I may not be a big fan of John Mayer but the only thing I like about him is his lead guitar playing. His lead guitar playing cannot be denied. I’m just not a big fan of his songwriting ’cause he’s too pop for me. He is a great blues guitar player, though, I’ll give him that.

Yes! All the Led Zeppelin Deluxe edition remasters are now available in Apple Music!

Well Jimmy Page just finally released all 10 Led Zeppelin album remasters and they are all available to listen to on Apple Music. So that means I get to listen to all the Led Zeppelin Deluxe remasters for free while my free trial is still going. Jimmy Page just released the final three remasters: “Presence”, “In Through The Outdoor” and “Coda”. Congrats to Jimmy.

I’m planning on giving these Led Zeppelin Deluxe remasters a listen this week right away. Looking forward to hearing them. I’ll probably give the Deluxe version of the first Led Zeppelin album a listen tonight. I was gonna buy these albums through either Itunes or physical CD but the Deluxe versions are overpriced. Now I can listen to them for free on Apple Music which is cool.

I’m sure Jimmy Page feels proud of himself for finally finishing these Deluxes and remasters. Really, he has worked so hard on them. He said he spent many hours in the studio working on them. He did it all himself.

I’m sure these Deluxe releases are available to stream on Spotify too. Thanks to Jimmy for allowing us to stream them online. Rock on! \m/

Corey Taylor of Slipknot bashes pop and he’s so right!

An unmasked Corey Taylor here explains his reasoning for hating pop music and he brings up a lot of valid points. I can understand why Gene Simmons would declare that “rock is dead” ’cause pop music is simply dominating the industry. It’s unfair for rock & metal acts. There are so many talented rock & metal acts that deserve the same mainstream exposure like Slipknot, Dream Theater, Lamb of God and many others. Many rock & metal bands struggle to get high in the Billboard charts ’cause pop & country is always dominating.

Pop & country is a dominating force these days ’cause it helps the music business make the big money. That’s pretty much it really. The industry don’t really care about rock bands anymore which is sad. Today’s country music would be considered “pop” music ’cause country music is sounding way too pop these days as well, ya know?

Pop music is really inappropriate music for young kids to listen to ’cause most of is about “sex” anyways. There’s too much sex all over pop music. Why do you think there are so many pop music videos with half naked women all over them and shaking their booty and stuff? It’s getting old.
