Report: Oscar nominations for Best Picture is now up to 10 instead of the usual 5…

What an interesting move! Instead of the usual 5 of “Best Picture” nominations every year, the Academy has now changed it up to 10 Oscar nominations for “Best Picture”. Wow, that’s a lot!

It’s a good idea, I like it! It gives more room for other great movies to get nominated that didn’t get a chance!

Thought: Spinal Tap, “Back From the Dead” and their performance on Conan O’ Brien last night…

“This is Spinal Tap” is one of my favorite movies of all time. I love that film to death, the film is so hilarious and one of the best comedies ever made, in my opinion. I’m so glad that these guys are making Spinal Tap a real band now. If the Monkees can do it, why can’t Spinal Tap, right?

Last night on, “The Tonight Show” with Conan O’ Brien, Spinal Tap was the musical guest and my god, they played one fucking amazing performance, I was blown away! The original lineup playing their original characters: Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer, all in character last night! I was most impressed with Christopher Guest’s guitar skills. He played a killer solo during that song they were playing.

After that performance, I’m thinking to myself, why would a talented guitar player like Christopher Guest mostly direct movies instead of the music? It looks like Christopher wants to concentrate on music more now because Spinal Tap released a new album this week and they are on a summer tour in support of it.

Spinal Tap are funny guys and talented musicians as well. I’m definitely picking up their new album, “Back from the Dead” this week. Along with the new Ghostbusters video game for the PS3 and the “Friday the 13th” movie on DVD. I plan on going to the mall this Thursday to get all those.

Back to Spinal Tap, I’m glad they are back. Is this a sign that they are planning a new movie in the works for the big screen? Is this why they released a new album and tour so they can document it all for another film? Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what they are planning.

Thought: David Letterman is a friggin’ comedian, he didn’t need to apologize!!!

I don’t know about you…but I’m dissapointed in Dave for apologizing to Sarah Palin. He’s a friggin’ comedian, people! If you been watching Dave for years, he’s been insulting and making fun of celebrities for a long long time!! THIS IS NOTHING NEW!!!! That’s what Late Night Talk show hosts are supposed to do, make fun of famous people! I’m not dissapointed of Dave for making fun of Sarah Palin’s daughter. I’m dissapointed that he came out and apologized.

Comedians don’t do that, Dave. Dave, big coward. I for one, thought the joke was pretty fucking hilarious. Dave apologizing for it was not funny, he only said sorry ’cause he was afraid of losing viewers…which he didn’t. He actually beat Conan O’ Brien with the ratings earlier this week for it…so there.

Report: “My Name Is Earl” is done for good, lets hope a Jason Lee return to the big screen full time…

Like the blog title says, I hope Jason Lee decides to return to hollywood films full time. I prefer him doing that, instead of TV. Jason’s a really good film actor. My favorite movie role Jason Lee has been in was the Cameron Crowe film “Almost Famous”, when he plays the lead singer of that fictional rock band. He’s also really good in ‘Big Trouble”, “Enemy of the State”, and “Stephen King’s Dreamcatcher”. I hope he doesn’t get another TV show and just come back to working on movies.

“My Name Is Earl” started off with a good start first two seasons, then I stopped watching somewhere in the third season.

Report: John Stamos is planning, “Full House – The Movie” for the big screen but won’t star original cast from sitcom…

After the hit drama series, “ER”, left national TV…the show’s star, John Stamos, is left with no work for TV or film. What is Stamos planning next? He is planning to bring “Full House”, the hit family sitcom that originally starred: Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, John Stamos, The Olsen Twins, Jodie Sweetin, and Candace Cameron Bure…to the big screen. Yes, a “Full House” motion picture.

However, it won’t star the original cast. He plans to have a different cast play the Tanner family. Stamos says he is very close friends with the original cast of “Full House” and stays in touch with all of them…even Dave Coulier and both of the Olsen Twins.

More on it here:

http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2009/06/05/2009-06-05_full_house_.html

Terrible idea, John. I think the show, “Full House” had a pretty good run. I would prefer the original “Full House” cast to play the Tanner family. I would think, the “Full House” fans would want the same. I think a film like this would fail.

“The Tonight Show” with Conan O’ Brien thoughts….

I really liked it a lot. Very entertaining and hilarious all the way through. Conan’s new show is no different than the last one. It’s still the same. Only difference, new studio design and new city. Although I do not like Will Ferrell, he was actually entertaining last night.

Pearl Jam played a great performance, they played a rare release of a song that I never heard before. So I guess, Pearl Jam did play one of their new songs from their upcoming new album that they’ve been recording in the studio. I’m actually glad Pearl Jam didn’t play anything off the “Ten” album and played something totally new that was never released. Smart thing!

I’m just glad we don’t have to stay up so late just to watch Conan anymore. Glad he is on earlier!

Tonight’s the night, Conan’s 1st day on the “Tonight Show”!!! Can’t wait!!!

Tonight is Conan O’ Brien’s first day of “The Tonight Show”. I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time and the wait is about over! Pearl Jam, Will Ferrell, Andy Richter…Tom Hanks will also be appearing.

I’m sure Conan will bring us the LOL’s like he always had. Conan is the king of late night. He’s the only one that is funny, that is why. Well, I’ll say Jimmy Fallon is kind of funny, but not hilarious, Fallon is entertaining though.

Jay isn’t funny, Carson Daly isn’t funny, David Letterman isn’t that funny, add Jimmy Kimmel and Craig Ferguson to the list.

Conan knows how to bring the hard laughs out of everybody. He’s a genius at comedy. Looking forward to tonight!

Report: John Lithgow returns to playing a villain in HBO’s “Dexter” for 4th Season only…

Actor John Lithgow has joined the cast of HBO’s “Dexter” for the fourth season only. Don’t remember who John Lithgow is? For most of his career, he has starred in a slew of Hollywood movies, then he stopped doing movies for a while to do TV sitcoms like “3rd Rock From the Sun” and “Twenty Good Years”. When “Twenty Good Years” got cancelled, John Lithgow moved on to the theatre stage, and to make music albums for children.

John Lithgow is known to play controversial villains in such films like, “Raising Cain”, “Ricochet”, “Santa Clause: The Movie”, “Footloose” and Stallone’s, “Cliffhanger”.

In “Dexter” John is set to play a vicious serial killer. It looks like John will be playing a prisoner serving a life sentence.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118004217.html?categoryid=14&cs=1

I don’t know why John stopped doing Hollywood films. He should make a big screen return. Everytime he tried TV, he fails. He is a decent actor and a funny guy. I like Lithgow.

Glad he’s back to playing the badguy again! I’ll tune in to “Dexter” to see if he still has the acting chops playing the villain again which I’m sure he still does. When he played the villain in movies like “Raising Cain”, “Ricochet” and “Cliffhanger”, John is a fucking psycho!!! He’s so scary as a villain which I think is what he does best at.
