BREAKING NEWS: Jack White and Alicia Keys 007 “Quantum of Solace” theme song online…

Jack White and Alicia Keys 007 theme song for the “Quantum Of Solace” film is now online, the song in it’s entirety for a free listen.

Jack wrote the song and produced it. Jack is singing the lead and Alicia is just playing the piano parts and she’s singing the backup vocals to the choruses.

My thoughts? It’s okay. Nothing mind blowing. I do love Alicia Keys and I want to hear more of her in the song, come on Jack, let her sing more than just the choruses.

Alicia Keys is a pop R&B singer, but she’s actually one of the talented ones, I quite like her music. Like I always say, I’m not a pop music guy, I’m more into progressive rock, that is my main genre but everybody listens to something else that is not their usual genre sometimes. It’s just that sometimes it does get tiring listening to loud and angry rock music all the time, that it’s good to listen to other stuff once in a while like maybe a little pop, a little country, a little blues, classical, jazz, even techno/electonica, etc. I do listen to other genres once in a while, it’s good to listen to a variety.

Report: Slash hints Jimi Hendrix may get his own Guitar Hero game…

Slash had an interview with Rollingstone and he talked about how he was the one who talked Aerosmith into getting their own Guitar Hero game. He also said that Activision is currently working on Jimi Hendrix getting his own video game.

Activision has kept their mouth shut on whether Hendrix will get a game or not, but I’ll keep an eye on this news.

More on it here:

I hope it’s true that Hendrix is getting a Guitar Hero, I’d buy it if it comes out.

We all now know that Led Zeppelin will never do a Guitar Hero because they don’t want their music used for video games.

I would like Ac/Dc or Nirvana to get their own game too.

Report: Robert Plant continues to shoot down being in Led Zeppelin full time, says the band was about the music, not the fans…

Robert Plant is still shooting down rumours of joining Led Zeppelin again full time for a tour or an album. He also admits that the band wasn’t about the fans at all. He said it was all about four guys getting together to make some powerful rock n’ roll music.

More on it here:

It’s actually good that Led Zeppelin isn’t going on. I’m proud of the O2 performance from last year, that’s all we need really.

Let the band members move on to other projects.

Report: Lars Ulrich wants Metallica to share a gig with U2…

Lars Ulrich expressed his love for U2, that he is a huge fan of Bono and the guys. He told a UK newspaper that his dream is for Metallica to share a same bill with U2.

As a huge fan of both of these bands, I’d pay to see that.

Maybe Metallica and U2 sharing the stage will actually happen when U2 releases their new album in 2009.

Keep your fingers crossed for this one!

Report: Metallica to be on cover of “Rollingstone” and “Guitar World” magazine…

Metallica will be on the cover of the next Rollingstone and Guitar World magazine with interviews in both magazines. Metallica is taking over the music industry again as I already started seeing the band on the cover on almost every music magazine when you walk into a bookstore.

A lot of people would think James Hetfield formed Metallica and he is the main leader of the band, but the truth is, Metallica is actually Lars’s band. Lars was the one that recruited James and Dave Mustaine ’cause he wanted to form a band, and Lars was the one who came up with the band name, Metallica. He had the band name already in him long before Lars formed Metallica. Metallica is very much Lars creation, James is just a songwriter and singer of the band.

Metallica is back, and metal is back as well. Stay metal. Metallica will not be the only band to take over the music industry, keep in mind that Ac/Dc, Aerosmith, U2, and maybe Guns N’ Roses will all be coming out with new albums, so rock is finally making a comeback. YES!! Kill pop and country music!

Report: Metallica’s gear setups for “Death Magnetic” here…

For you musicians out there like myself, Guitar World revealed the gear that Metallica currently uses for their live shows and I’m sure they use this stuff in studio for “Death Magnetic” as well.

Think Kirk Hammett likes to use all this high tech and really pricey gear? Well, looking at Hammett’s setup, it looks to me it’s pretty simple and basic. He has said in interviews many times, he likes to use simple gear settings and he also said he doesn’t use many effects. And looking at this, it’s the truth, it looks as though, Hammett doesn’t use too many pedals. He said he always used the Ibanez Tubescreamer all the time, it is his favorite pedal, I believe.

Hetfield uses all kinds of effects which is understandable since he is a rhythym player.

Check it out here:

I picked up “Death Magnetic” today and I’m probably gonna be listening to it quite a lot.

Report: The Foo Fighters to take a long hiatus from music…

Dave Grohl has announced to BBC Radio that he and the Foo Fighters will soon take a long break and hiatus from the music business.

Dave explains that after doing the amazing and tight Wembley Stadium show which he calls the best damn show in the band’s career (I agree), he says the band played for everybody in that show and that’s when he realized it’s time to hang it up for a while.

The Foo Fighters had quite a busy and tough career, indeed. Their last three albums, “One By One”, “In Your Honor” (which is a two disc CD set), and “Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace” their newest release were all released in a very quick period of time.

The Foo Fighters are an incredible band, they are one of my favorites in today’s industry and I feel that their break is well deserved and needed.

Thanks for the great music, Foos. The boys will be back with more great stuff in the future!

Report: Ted Nugent gives Sarah Palin his support by giving her a copy of his new novel early…

There may be a lot of celebrities trashing Sarah Palin these days, but there is one celebrity that likes her and supports the Alaska governor, that is the iconic rocker Ted Nugent. The Nuge expressed his support for the vice president hopeful by making her the first on the list to get his new book titled “Ted, White, and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto”.

Blabbermouth reports:

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=104970

Ted Nugent has always been my favorite guitarist and he writes badass songs as well.

Good to see the Nuge on the Palin/McCain side.

Report: Metallica’s “Death Magnetic” no. 1 on Billboard 200…

As this is no surprise to me at all, Metallica’s new album “Death Magnetic” is no. 1 in the Billboard 200, the album sold 490,000 copies since last Friday the release date.

The album “St. Anger” released in 2003, sold 418,000 copies in it’s weekend.

Billboard Reports:

I’m going to the mall today on my day off of work to pick up the album on CD, I’ll get it at Best Buy of course ’cause the mall wouldn’t have it.

Kev

Edit for correction: I guess Metallica’s “Death Magnetic” is sold everywhere, it isn’t Best Buy exclusive, my bad. There must be a confusion of an article I’ve read somewhere. The Limited Edition of “Death Magnetic” is Best Buy exclusive but the regular album itself is sold in stores everywhere, just a little confusion that’s all.
