Led Zeppelin usually don’t have their music in Hollywood films that much but sometimes they do. I’m sure Hollywood would have to get the band’s written permission in order to use their music. I know Led Zeppelin had their songs played in films like “Almost Famous”, “Silver Linings Playbook”, “Argo”, “American Hustle” and “The Fighter”. That’s about all that I know.
Now they have a song featured for the newest Mission Impossible film in which they used “Whole Lotta Love” for trailer no. 2. “MI: Rogue Nation” trailer no. 2 is pretty badass.
I’m pretty psyched for this film and can’t wait to see it. I’m a huge fan of the MI movies. Love all of them.
Once again, Tom Cruise may not be everyone’s favorite actor but here’s another reason that he’s worthy of some respect here. He wants to do his own action stunts. Most actors prefer green screen and stunt doubles but not Tom. When Tom wants to do a scene that is too dangerous and risky and when the director says “No”, Tom won’t take no for an answer. Tom will throw a temper tantrum and won’t stop fighting for it until the director lets him.
You see, here’s the thing… Tom maybe a bit of a jerk and he maybe pretty demanding when on set but I think what Tom wants is that he wants the action scenes to be real as possible. I think that’s the goal. He wants his action scenes to be realistic. He won’t use green screen or stunt doubles. Most of his scenes in his action movies are all him and done for real. These scenes maybe very dangerous and risky but he’s willing to sacrifice himself in order to pull off a really good action sequence. It’s all about the art. He’s just wants the movie to be real and not fake, ya know?
Love him or hate him, you gotta admit that Tom has balls. He’s certainly isn’t afraid of heights at all as you can see.
The fifth installment to the Mission Impossible franchise titled, “M:I Rogue Nation” teaser drops today and it looks badass! I think I’m definitely gonna be there for this one ’cause I’m a huge fan of these movies.
Actually, I just re-watched the first M:I movie directed by Brian Depalma on Netflix streaming not too long ago and I forgot how great that movie really is. I love all the M:I movies.
I know Tom Cruise is one of American’s hated actors but love him or hate him, he’s a talented man and the guy really knows how to choose his films. He picks good films to star in and all of them are pretty much successful. I like Tom Cruise. He’s a good actor, in my opinion.
All those people talking shit about Tom Cruise all the time will never admit they watch his movies and they enjoy ’em. I find nothing wrong with Tom Cruise as he has been one of my favorite actors for a pretty long time now. He’s been in too many good movies.
I know Tom Cruise is not everyone’s favorite actor but I can never understand why. I’ve always liked him. Love him or hate him, you just don’t want to admit that you watched most of his movies over the years like most of us. The guy really knows how to pick his movies. Although you don’t wanna admit it, I’m sure you’ve all seen his classics like “Top Gun”, “Rain Man”, “Cocktail”, “Legend”, “Risky Business”, “Born On The 4th Of July”, and many others. I’m sure you continue to watch his newer films as well.
Last week, I finally got around to watching Tom’s newest sci-fi movie, “The Edge of Tomorrow” and it was actually really good. I was surprised by it. The story was entertaining and the action scenes were a blast. Tom was actually fun to watch in that movie too.
I also listened to Tom’s podcast episode with “The Nerdist” on the Ipad last week. “The Nerdist” podcast hosted by Chris Hardwick, you’ve probably heard of it. While Tom may seem like an intimidating guy, he’s not really. After listening to that podcast, I was surprised on how normal and real he really was. On the podcast, Tom sounded down to earth and friendly to me. He was also funny and had a good sense of humor. He’s just a normal human being like the rest of us. He doesn’t take fame and fortune seriously. He got into the movie business ’cause he’s obsessed with movies and wanted to be a part of it. It wasn’t about the money and fame for him.
I never understood all the hate toward Tom Cruise over the years. He seems like a good dude to me. Maybe it’s his Scientology that people don’t like, that’s probably it but I don’t care about his religion. I think Tom is a talented man and he gives us a lot of good movies, love him or hate him. I’ve always respected him and had no problem with him over the years. He deserves more respect, in my opinion.
A rumor got out that Tom Cruise is in talks to have some kind of small role or cameo of some sorts for “Star Wars Episode VII”. It was reported that Tom met with JJ Abrams in London for a meeting. If this is true, then this would be no surprise that Tom maybe involved with the upcoming Star Wars. JJ and Tom are long time collaborators as they worked on the four Mission Impossible movies together.
I think Tom will be a nice addition to the cast! I’m all for it if it’s true! Will Tom’s role be a good guy or will he be part of the Empire? We’ll have to wait and see!
I haven’t seen Tom’s latest movie, “Edge of Tomorrow” yet. I’ll probably wait for DVD rental on that one, though.
After watching a little bit of TV on Netflix this evening… I have noticed that Netflix decided to keep “Top Gun” w/ Tom Cruise on Netflix streaming after all!!! I swore they put up a notice that they were going to take it off on Oct 1st. It’s Oct 1st today and “Top Gun” is still on there for streaming but it don’t have the “Available until October 1st” text on there anymore. Look like Netflix got too many complaints from “Top Gun” fans. I’m glad they decided to keep it on there. So enjoy!!!!
Over the weekend, I had to re-watch “Top Gun” on Netflix since I had it in my instant que and they are about ready to take it off streaming Oct. 1st, that’s tomorrow. My question is why?
I have seen “Top Gun” too many times over the years but the weird thing about that is, I haven’t seen this film in a long time. I decided to re-watch this film for a bit of a throwback and I almost forgot how great this film really is. It really is a beautiful film. Some scenes maybe kind of cheesy but that’s the 80’s, ya know? Everything about this film is so great. The writing, the acting, casting, and even the soundtrack is really good! You probably remember the songs, “Danger Zone”, and “Take My Breathe Away”. Plus, the iconic opening instrumental theme. Also, Val Kilmer’s performance is what helps make this movie great! This film has a mix of genres into one: it’s a drama, a love story, action movie, comedy, etc.
There have been talks that Jerry Bruckheimer is planning a Top Gun sequel that will reunite Tom and Val in the leading role.
To be honest, I don’t think the film really needs a sequel ’cause the original is just perfect just the way it is! It is one of Tom’s best films in his career and I think I’m gonna buy the film on Blu Ray soon since they are taking it off Netflix streaming.
“Top Gun” is still streaming on Netflix but it’s only available for tonight, I believe. They will take it off tomorrow so if you wanna watch “Top Gun” on Netflix better hurry up and watch it tonight if you got nothing to watch! I hate when Netflix takes off good movies. Especially the essential ones like “Top Gun”. Maybe they’re trying to make more room for other films or it has something to do with licensing/permission? Don’t know.
Here is Val Kilmer talking with Larry King on plans for “Top Gun 2”.
It’s a shame what happened to Tony Scott. He was a talented film director.
It took him forever to do it but Tom Cruise has finally signed on to the 5th installment of the, “Mission Impossible”, franchise. Well, this is good news actually. I absolutely LOVED, “Ghost Protocol”, the 4th movie. “Ghost Protocol”, was actually a pretty amazing action movie and the best one of the series so far. That’s probably because I was pretty impressed with Brad Bird’s directing style like everyone else. Plus, Tom’s acting was actually really good in “Ghost Protocol” too! “Ghost Protocol” really is a fantastic film and if you haven’t seen it yet, it is available for Netflix streaming and I suggest you check it out. I have “Ghost Protocol” in my Netflix instant-que and I was meaning to watch it again soon. Probably this weekend.
No word on the plot and other cast signings but the director for “MI: 5” will be the same director who made the film, “Jack Reacher” (also starring Cruise). I haven’t seen “Jack Reacher” yet but I’ll rent it through Netflix sometime.
Tom Cruise maybe a whack job of a guy but love him or hate him; he still has the talent in acting and film.
Well today, iconic actor Tom Cruise, turns the big 5-0, yes he is officially 50. No matter how bat shit crazy you think he is, (I agree he is a bit of a whack job), you can’t deny that he has been in some great movie roles over the years. Instead of talking about his divorce with Katie Holmes, I think it would be great idea to celebrate his work over the years.
Here’s a list of my favorite roles that he has been in, this list is in no particular order:
The Outsiders – Tom’s role wasn’t very big in this film, he’s more like a supporting star, but I liked his character in it. This is one of my favorite films of all times too.
Risky Business – Everyone thinks movies like “The Breakfast Club” or “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” were the best teen comedy films in the 80’s, but to me, my favorite was, “Risky Business”. Tom was young in this role but his acting was great, especially that one classic scene in this movie, where he stands up from the couch, puts on the sunglasses and gives that big smile.
Legend – A great film by Ridley Scott, I’ve always loved the this movie.
Rain Man – A great drama film which also has Dustin Hoffman’s best acting.
Top Gun – Can’t leave this classic off the list? I’ve always loved this movie too.
Eyes Wide Shut – One of Stanley Kubrick’s best films. A lot of people didn’t get this movie but I did. I thought the story was great. Plus, Tom’s acting was really good in this one too.
Minority Report – A great sci fi adventure, directed by Spielberg. I thought this was the best Cruise/Spielberg collaboration, it’s better than the “War of the Worlds” remake.
Valkyrie – This was a really great film by Bryan Singer, about a group of men trying to hunt down Adolf Hitler. This is also one of Tom’s best acting roles.
Collateral – A good thriller by Michael Mann.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol – Probably the best Mission Impossible film.
So Johnny Depp recently split with his girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis, and Tom Cruise is divorcing, Katie Holmes. I hate talking about gossip and personal stuff on here, but I gotta get this off my chest. It may seem pretty cool that a famous person is married to another famous person, but things almost always don’t go too well at the end. They end up splitting or divorcing pretty quickly. Why is this you may ask? Well, this is the price of fame & fortune. Both of them, the celebrity man, and woman, are extremely rich people. One person is richer than the other. Not only money could partly be responsible for splits/divorces, but their work load in their careers are a big part of it. Both of them are almost always busy on their films, that they don’t have time to see each other as much as they would like to. More reasons celeb marriages/relationships don’t last too long, is ego could be a huge part of it too. You may think being a celebrity could be easy but it’s not. It’s a tough world and some of these guys don’t even like being famous at all, they work on film or music, ’cause it’s what they do for a living.
It is bullshit on why celebrity splits or divorces have to be huge breaking news though, in this day and age of the media. If a hot celebrity couple is done, the news would be all over it non stop. Pretty crazy. I don’t get it. Even if we don’t like this stuff being shoved in our faces, the media reports this stuff ’cause it helps make them money, get more ratings and more hits on their websites. That’s what bothers me about today’s pop culture. The celebrity obsession, creepy stuff if you ask me.
If you notice on my website when I talk about actors or music stars, I focus on their careers and their work. Not their personal lives. That’s what the entertainment blog is about. I try not to gossip too much. The Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise split is no surprise though. Don’t worry, Tommy will get himself another woman in no time. He’ll get himself a Katie Holmes look alike, the week after.
