BREAKING NEWS: Mickey Rourke confirmed to perform in a match for Wrestlemania 25!!!!!!!!

I kind of figure this was going to happen as this news is no surprise for me. Mickey Rourke, the star of “The Wrestler”, says that the WWE confirmed the actor to perform at Wrestlemania 25 in Houston, Texas. He says he’s in talks with Rowdy Roddy Piper about it. Does this mean Mickey Rourke and Rowdy Piper will have a tag match against Chris Jericho and who ever Jericho is teaming up with? That’s what it seems like they’re planning.

More on it here:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28848680/#storyContinued

Really good news. Good for Mickey, I bet he dreamed of being a real life profesional wrestler for many years which is the whole point of him doing the film, now he gets to experience pro wrestling in real life for one time only.

Report: McCain continues to be the man, McCain disagrees with President Obama’s actions so far…

Whether McCain and Obama get along with each other now or not, McCain is still telling it like it is. Obama maybe getting right to work and getting things done right away, but the McCain camp has some harsh words to say about him. The McCain camp disagrees with Obama’s stimulus plan, the closing of Guantanamo which McCain says he would not do if he was elected, and many more things.

Read it all here:

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/washingtondc/la-na-stimulus26-2009jan26,0,7544832.story

I don’t think Obama’s stimulus plan is going to work either. Obama would look like a fool of himself if his stimulus plan didn’t solve anything.

******ROYAL RUMBLE 2009 REVIEW with MAJOR SPOILERS**********

This year’s Royal Rumble was a great ppv as expected. Lots of surprising twists, pretty unpredictable moments. My review of each match…

ECW Champ: Jack Swagger vs. Matt Hardy (winner: Jack Swagger)

This was one of the predictions I got right, I knew Swagger was going to win, this was actually a pretty damn good match. Both men wrestled great, a clean match.

Women’s Championship: Beth Phoenix vs. Melina (winner: Melina)

They did a great job with everyone thinking that Beth Phoenix the Glamazon was going to win this one, but instead, Melina picked up the win, she’s the new Women’s Champion. Most women’s wrestling is boring and awful, but this actually was a great match. Some pretty technical wrestling skills with both women. They did more than just pulling hair and hitting each other. Previously, I predicted that Beth was going to win, but I predicted wrong on this one.

World Champ match: John Cena vs. JBL (winner: Cena)

Yep, of course Cena retains. HBK Shawn Michaels at JBL’s corner. Yes, HBK did give JBL a little help in the match, by actually giving them both the sweet chin music. JBL ordered HBK to give them both the sweet chin music, so Shawn can help JBL get the pin while the refferee was knocked out cold out of the ring. Turns out, Cena ended up getting the win. HBK teaming up with JBL is possibly one of the best storylines in WWE in a long time. It’s one of the most realistic storylines anyway, I’ll talk more about this storyline in another post some other time. I thought this was the best match of the night.

WWE Champ match: Jeff Hardy vs. Edge (winner: Edge)

For the past several weeks, Jeff Hardy has been getting a mystery stalker storyline. Who was that mystery stalker? No one other than Jeff’s brother, Matt Hardy, getting another heel turn. When we thought we were getting another Hardy Boys tag team reunion, Matt turned on Jeff by swinging the steel chair at his brother. This is how Edge picks up the win to get the belt back.

30 Man Royal Rumble matchup (winner: Randy Orton):

I was right on Randy Orton winning tonight. Look like the main event for Wrestlemania 25 will be Randy Orton vs. John Cena again. Unless Cena loses the title before Wrestlemania, Orton could face against someone else different. Yep, it’ll probably be Cena vs. Orton at Wrestlemania 25. A few surprise returns in the 30 man Rumble match…they are Rob Van Dam (or better known as RVD) and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. They were the only surprise returns.

I’m not sure if this is a one time only appearance for Rob Van Dam or he’s back full time, because the Rumble tonight was taking place in RVD’s hometown.

I got two prediction winners right tonight. Jack Swagger winning the ECW match and Randy Orton winning the Rumble.

Look like the theme song for “Wrestlemania 25” will be Ac/Dc “Shoot to Thrill” a song off their “Back In Black” album, ’cause they showed a Wrestlemania 25 commercial during the Rumble ppv that had that song playing during it. So look like the news of Ac/Dc performing at Wrestlemania is true.

Thought: Kirsten Gillibrand from local politician to NY Senate…is she on her way to running for President in 2012?

What do you think of this big news? Gillibrand being Clinton’s replacement as NY Senator. Now that she’s Senator she can choose to run for President in the next election in 2012 if she wants to.

I can’t stand our governor, David Paterson, I never liked that guy, he is much worse than Spitzer was in my opinion, but I think Gillibrand could do better than Clinton in the NY Senate seat. I think Gillibrand is a decent choice. Thoughts? Sound it off in the comments below.

She’s moving on up fast in her political career and I think she’s aiming to one day becoming the first female president. Or she maybe even become NY Governor when Paterson steps down.

Thought: Bands and musicians who pretend to be famous people/celebrities…

Since there is no interesting news to report on a Sunday, I thought I would post a music topic that I came up with today. I guess I’m pretty bored and Sundays are almost always boring days.

One thing I have noticed about unsigned bands/musicians over the years, is that, I find it amazing to me that so many bands/musicians out there pretending to be famous. Yes, I know many of them know they aren’t “famous” but a lot of them enjoy pretending to be famous.

Examples:

-Bands being obsessed with band photos, making them profesional quality studio portraits for their promo packages, websites, myspace, and stuff like that.

-Bands being obsessed with interviews like for radio, local TV, newspapers, etc.

-Bands playing dress up trying to look like famous rock stars.

-Bands posting “music” news of everything they do musically when they know deep down inside that no one really cares about everything they do in their career.

-The way bands talk to their fans treating them like second class citizens.

Things like that, I can keep going with the list. I used to experiment with that stuff in the past, but then I came to a realization that being an unsigned musician is pretty pointless doing all that stuff.

Why obsess with “local” fame in your area? Do you ever come to realize that “life” comes first before your fantasy music career? That’s what happened with me. Being an  unsigned musician or a local band DOES NOT equal to national fame. Sure, it may be fun to play “rock star”, but to me it’s only a fantasy world that you all are living in. Really think about it.

I understand why all this stuff is you trying to get your music out there and promote yourself but you have to admit that you got to get out of your silly delusions like I have. Accepting reality and knowing that your music and your career is no better than yourself.

I just do music for fun, I don’t take it seriously. Period.

Report: Ac/Dc to perform at Wrestlemania 25?

Linda McMahon, the CEO of the WWE has announced that Ac/Dc is confirmed to perform live at Wrestlemania 25. Yes, Brian Johnson and Angus, and the rest of the boys could be performing there. It’s been said that Vince McMahon himself have been a long time fan of the band.

There’s no word on what song that Ac/Dc will use as the Wrestlemania 25 theme song but it will obviously be a song off the new album, “Black Ice”.

More on it here:

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=113119

When they confirm a theme song for Ac/Dc for Wrestlemania 25, I’m pretty sure, WWE.com will announce it.

Thought: The 5 Best and Worst “Best Picture” Winners of the Oscars…

Not every Oscar “Best Picture” winner is a great movie, to me it’s just an opinion that the Academy is entitled to. They have gave “Best Picture” winners to some movies I didn’t really care for.

Yeah, I know, another Oscar post, but hey, I love movies, I am a huge movie buff and addicted to them. I watch the Oscars every year and it’s my favorite award show.

In my opinion, these are just my opinions now, these are some “best” and “worst” “Best Picture” winners for the Oscars. I feel that there are some that are pretty undeserving. I’ll name 5 each.

Top 5 favorite “Best Picture” winners, the films that I love:

1. Rocky

(It should be no surprise to you that I would name this first)

2. The West Side Story

(Believe it or not, it’s my favorite musical movie ever, this film is such a masterpiece, I love it to death. I own the DVD set and it’s one film I’ll never get tired of watching)

3. Schindler’s List

(It’s Steven Spielberg’s best film ever made, in my opinion)

4. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

(Another one of my favorite films ever made and another one I’ll never get tired of watching!!! Another masterpiece!)

5. Forrest Gump

(Can’t leave this one off the list, a classic flick that is well deserving of the Oscar history)

Top 5 worst “Best Picture” winner choices, films I think are undeserving:

1. Titanic

(Why? Why? Why? This film is overrated, too long, and we’ve seen enough of these sad stories. I didn’t find the film all that sad, it was all silly and goofy. BOOO at the Academy for giving this the Best Picture win!)

2. American Beauty

(Another film that is a crapfest. I like Kevin Spacey and all but he’s starred in way better films than this piece of shit. I never really cared for this film.)

3. Chicago

(It was entertaining sometimes, but is it really Oscar worthy? Nah.)

4. The Departed

(I shook my head when they gave this movie the win that year, then I saw the movie, and thought, what? What the hell did I just see? The film was okay but nothing all that amazing.)

5. No Country, For Old Men

(It’s a pretty good film, but it’s fucked up ending is what got me thinking why they think this is Oscar worthy, I wasn’t rooting for the Coen Bros. to get the win on this last year, I actually was rooting for “There Will Be Blood” to get the win but it got robbed)

Yep, so there you have it.

“Slumdog Millionaire” has better get the win for BEST PICTURE this year, if any of the other films win it instead, I think I’m done watching the Oscars. I’ll watch the Oscars this year on Feb. 22nd to see what happens. I truly enjoyed “Slumdog” and it really is deserving.

Report: Why Springsteen got robbed for “The Wrestler” in the Oscars? Here’s why…

In order for a song from a film be eligible for a nomination for “Best Song” category, a total of 8.25 up to 10 votes by the Academy branch must be made by the voters. Sadily, Bruce’s song only got a total of 8 votes of everyone voting. Since Bruce’s song ,”The Wrestler”, didn’t make 8.25 to 10 votes, it’s the only reason it didn’t get in.

That is also the reason the “Original Song” category only nominated three songs, because those three songs were the only ones that got between 8.25 to 10 votes.

More on it here:

http://goldderby.latimes.com/awards_goldderby/2009/01/story-oscars–1.html

Like the article said, Bruce is already an Oscar winner for winning an Oscar for “Streets of Philadelphia”, and he already won a Golden Globe for “The Wrestler”, he would think that’s good enough for him.

Fuck the Oscars, Bruce. Your music career is way more important than a golden statue. The Superbowl performance is all he needs to complete his legendary career.

Film Review: Slumdog Millionaire

Starring: Dev Patel, Freida Pinto

Directed by: Danny Boyle

So I did end up going to the mall this afternoon to see “Slumdog Millionaire” today, here is my review…

Plot/synopsis: Story revolves around an 18 year old orphaned Indian boy named, Jamal Malik, who is a contestant on the Indian version of the hit game show “Who Wants to Be Millionaire”. He is a popular contestant of the show because he is able to get every question exactly right. Right before he got the chance to answer the final question of the game, he has been arrested and taken into police custody, he is being accused of cheating.

To prove his innocence that he isn’t cheating, he had to explain his entire life story as a child to what he is now. He is able to answer every question right because those questions can relate to his life. Throughout the film shows flashbacks of his childhood as he tells the story of his life growing up. Each part of his life story has something to do with the questions in the game.

In the past, he has fallen in love with another orphaned Indian girl named Latika, where she and Jamal run into trouble by dangerous Indian gangsters. Those type of gangsters are the ones who kidnap children so they can train them to beg for money. Jamal’s brother Salim becomes part of the gang while Jamal is doing his best to survive and to save the love of his life, Latika.

Does Jamal get the final question right in “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”? Do Jamal and Latika ever reunite? You’ll have to see the film for yourself and find out.

My thoughts on the film? Now I can totally see why it’s getting all the buzz. I FUCKING LOVED IT!!!! The film was absolutely amazing and a total masterpiece! It was one of the best foreign films I’ve seen in years! I don’t know why this film gets mixed reviews, I find it to be a perfect film. Acting was beautiful, the story was original and something different. It’s a pretty intense and unpredictable film.

Great acting by Dev Patel and Freida Pinto, which are also deserving of a “Best Leading Actor” and “Best Leading Actress” Oscar nod, which I feel those two were also snubbed of the Oscars.

I’ll take my Oscar winning predictions back and I’ll definitely say that “Slumdog Millionaire” will be the big winners this year. It’s definitely well deserving. I loved the film all the way through. I’m glad I finally got to see it.

Those who didn’t like it why? Didn’t understand what was going on? Didn’t like the whole love story thing? The film was fantastic. I’m definitely rooting this film to get “Best Picture” and “Best Director” win. I’ll definitely be buying this film on DVD too. Definitely one of the best films of 2008. Now that this film expanded to theaters everywhere ’cause of the Oscar nominees, I expect this movie to be no. 1 in the box office this weekend.

I thought the film was wonderful and a masterpiece, I’d definitely go see it again if I wanted. Please go see it, and you would immediately see why the film is getting so much hype.

Score for “Slumdog Millionaire” = **** (4 stars as in excellent)

Report: Academy ballot voter speaks out on “The Dark Knight” snub…

“Dark Knight” fans are not the only people dissapointed and saddened by Oscar snubs for the top categories. Even some of the members of the Academy that voted on the ballots are dissapointed too.

One of them speaks out to E! online saying that “Dark Knight” not getting Best Picture and Christopher Nolan not getting Best Director is a shame, he plans on sending in a “write in” vote on the final ballot, meaning that voters still can fight for it to get nominated. It may not get the “Best Picture” nomination, but Chris Nolan still may have a chance in getting a late nomination addition for “Best Director” if they pursue the write in campaign.

Read more on it here:

http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b80497_oscar_watch_write_off_write_in_dark.html

“Dark Knight” getting ignored by the top categories is pretty unfair to the movie industry, I’m sure Chris Nolan himself might agree on that one ’cause he fought hard to get the film an Oscar nod.

I guess that’s what happens when ego’s and politics get in the way with the Academy Branch.
