I'm a musician, singer/songwriter, blogger, writer, poet, bodybuilder, movie lover, music lover, video gamer, history/political buff, conservative/republican, etc. I like to do a lot of things.

Why is that CRUMBS site all over Lana Del Rey? Seriously…

I used to like and support CRUMBS.net, but with the new bloggers and owners over there, the site have recently gone way downhill, in my opinion. Whenever pop star, Lana Del Rey, releases something new, the CRUMBS blog would be all over it. Yes, Lana Del Rey was from this area, she grew up in Lake Placid, New York, so that’s considered, Capital District, yes. She wasn’t around this area for that long though. After doing a little reading about her life, she was actually born in New York City. So technically, she’s not a Capital District native. She stayed in Lake Placid for a while, but she moved to Connecticut at age 14 to battle alcohol dependence. She had a drinking problem even when she was underage. After this, Del Rey moved back to NYC at age 18 to pursue a career in music. She didn’t do anything for music when she was around here. So why is the local music scene here all over this woman? I don’t get it. Doesn’t make a bit of sense. Plus, her music is nothing all that special and doesn’t get to me.

I just go to CRUMBS for the Cafe radio interviews, but the blogs over there haven’t been that interesting. I’m honestly starting to miss, the previous owner, Andy Gallo, who used to run the site, and I think he ran the site, a lot better.

When people want to come for local music information or bands, most of the local music scene comes here to my own site more than the others anyway. I get more views than most local music blogs, not trying to sound like an egomaniac ’cause it is the truth.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #2: The Exorcist

“The Exorcist” is one of those classic horror flicks, that we all looked after. Most of us have seen when we were a kid, and it’s a perfect film to introduce your child to. You can’t forget the unbelievable performances of Linda Blair and Max Von Sydow. I love this film, everything about it. While there are a ton of Exorcism flicks out there, nothing will top this film ever. Whenever you see this film on TV, you can’t help yourself but leave it at that channel and watch, ’cause this film does that.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #1: John Carpenter’s “Halloween”…

Usually, every year, I would do a top 15 horror film list in the month of Oct., to recommend horror flicks for readers to see on Halloween. I just thought of a better plan. Instead of doing the typical yearly top 15 list, I thought I would do something different. Something a little better. I thought it would be cool to post one video a day of a favorite horror film of mine. One video a day, of a different film, leading up to Halloween Day itself on Oct. 31st.

Tonight, I’ll start off with this one, John Capenter’s “Halloween”, 1978 film with Jamie Lee Curtis. This is my favorite horror flick of all time, I watch it every year Halloween night. You learn something new every time you watch it. This film is indeed a classic. It’s definitely one of those films you can watch over and over again, and never get tired of it.

Enjoy the best scene of the whole film.

Report: And your host for the 85th Annual Academy Awards is… Seth McFarlane!!!

Seth McFarlane, is not only well known for creating the “Family Guy”, which is a cartoon series that all of us love, he is a man of many different talents. He is also a musician and singer, so I’m sure the Academy wanted him ’cause he would be entertaining for a funny song and dance musical. He is a talented guy. I enjoy the “Family Guy” like most people, I try to watch it when I get around to it. It’s a funny as hell show.

See the Academy’s Press Release about it, here.

Finally! A good host for the Oscars, other than having Steve Martin or Billy Crystal, all the damn time! Hopefully Seth, stays committed to hosting the show and won’t back out. I know the Oscars have had trouble trying to find a host the last few years.

It’s too early for Oscar nomination predictions, but I do have a feeling that “The Master” or Spielberg’s “Lincoln” will score the most nominations. It’s going to be a big year for Spielberg again.

Hear Seth singing in the video below.

Patrick Stewart aka Captain Picard, has twitter war with Time Warner Cable…

Patrick Stewart, who is most famous as Captain Picard for Star Trek: TNG and Professor X for the “X-men” movies, took to his twitter page to rant about Time Warner Cable. Look like Patrick is living somewhere in NYC, and he wrote to TWC on twitter, complaining that he tried to set up a new account and 36 hours later, he got nothing? Well TWC replied, and all they said, was “How can we assist”. Patrick replied again. See the tweet here.

Patrick’s TWC rant became a hit on the internet, as there has been Star Trek photos made of him, making fun of it, such as this photo here:

Thought this was pretty cool and had to share. Funny stuff!!!!!

Cool Photo: Adele confirms she’s singing the title theme for “Skyfall” by tweeting this photo…

Adele tweeted this photo of herself in the studio, recording the opening title theme song for the next 007 flick, “Skyfall”. The pic doesn’t actually show her, but all it shows is just her fingers and what it looks like sheet music/lyrics for the theme song? See the pic, here.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing, “Skyfall”. Hopefully it’ll be a good movie ’cause the last two 007 Daniel Craig flicks haven’t been that great to be honest with you. I hope the next one will be an improvement.

Cool Video: Neil Young & Crazy Horse stomping on stage…

They did something similar during their performance at Central Park over the weekend. Stomping on the stage to make this loud crashing sound. How are they doing this? Well if you notice on the metal floor (not sure what it’s actually called) on the stage, that’s what they’re stomping on. I’m sure they put a bunch of small mics underneath those metal things on the stage to make the stomping loud enough through the speakers. They had that similar metal floor thing on the stage at Central Park and I’m sure they have that on all the Crazy Horse show tours. That’s how they end the song “Walk Like a Giant” on stage so they can make it sound like an actual Giant walking on Earth.

That’s one thing I love about Neil Young & Crazy Horse, they always put on unique and crazy shows. They’re very creative live performers. I wish they would get respected more for this. They’re so underrated. I’m dying to see Neil Young & Crazy Horse in concert myself, if they made a stop around here, I would go!

I’m looking forward to their new album, “Psychedellic Pill” too as you betcha, I will buy it.

More on this Lady Gaga “Body Revolution” stuff…

I usually do my very best to keep my personal life off the internet, but I had to do it just this once ’cause Lady Gaga made it okay to. She wanted people to publicly reveal their insecurities, so they can feel brave of doing it and feel proud of themselves. It just made me do it myself since I have my own problems. Lady Gaga posted half naked photos of herself, and others followed. Not just overweight people, it could be for anyone who didn’t feel comfortable about their appearance. Whatever it is. You’ve already seen shirtless pics of me in the past, so that kind of gave you a hint that I got scoliosis. I wish I can have a straight body like everyone else, ’cause imagine how much taller I could be, if I had a straight spine? I got the major back surgery done years ago when I was a kid, so now I’m all good and do all the physical things I want to do. It was difficult going through all that stuff growing up, but it took me a long while to accept how I am.

I’m sure Gaga is still getting haters, saying she’s doing all this “Body Revolution” stuff ’cause she’s starved for attention and all that, not true. She posted those underwear pics ’cause it’s her way of showing people that she’s proud of who she is. She wanted to show people that it’s okay to be different and let people know, that no one is perfect out there.

Thing is, I have to live like this for the rest of my life. I can’t make it better, even though I would like to. So that’s why I have to live my life as best as possible and stay as happy as possible. Ignore those haters & critics who judge my appearance, and people have over the years, and people still do. I’ve been doing bodybuilding for 5 years now, lifting kind of heavy and all. Haven’t had any injuries and never been sent to the emergency room for anything… yet…, but it’s all good and cool.

She’s inspiring me to write songs of my own about this stuff, about how no one is perfect and you need to be proud of yourself, no matter who you are. Be it, you can either be fat, have one leg, birthmarks on your face, paralyzed for life, cancer, etc. Doesn’t matter who you are, be strong and proud ’cause you only live once.

I’ll submit a pic to LittleMonsters soon, not a pic of me in underwear though, I won’t go that far, I don’t know. Kind of nervous about that ’cause the local music scene would have a field day with it, so just a new shirtless pic would be good enough.

Oh yeah, another thing about website…

I will soon be joining “Pinterest” and “Instagram”. I’ll make my way to those social networking sites soon. Sometime this week probably. I’m finding that “Pinterest” is a pretty useful tool for musicians/bands or just for expressing yourself, so I’ll end up joining it.

As for “Skype”, I’m thinking about that too, ’cause that would be perfect for exclusive home acoustic performances for the loyal people who still support my music. I’ll be looking into all these soon.

Upcoming changes for this website…

There will be a few more changes to this website, ’cause I’m always changing things around so I can make this website, look as professional as I possibly can. I could probably use the “Custom Design” upgrade for wordpress but that will cost some extra money. I will get that upgrade sometime down the road, but for now I just keep the website design simple. One change, I’m trying to do is try to link all my social networking sites along with the “social networking” images linked to them. Know what I mean? All music websites seems to be doing this, having the “facebook”, “twitter”, and “youtube” icons on top of their pages linking it to their social networking sites. I’m planning on working on it, this week.

While this site is looking okay so far, I’ll make it even nicer as I go along. When you want to showcase your music on the internet, it’s pretty important to make your websites look professional as possible, if you want to draw more people to your sites.

I’m also planning on working with a professional photographer soon for a photoshoot. There’s a guy that I know who has a professional photography business, someone I know in Greenwich. I’ll come up with all kinds of cool ideas with this site. This is only the beginning for now.
