BREAKING NEWS: The Superman villain that Michael Shannon will be playing have finally been announced, who is it? Click here to find out!!!

Well Michael Shannon is officially hired to play the leading villain for Zack Snyder’s “Superman”. Who will Michael be playing?

Read this article at Deadline, find out yourself, here.

Surprised that they are using General Zod again? I’m certainly not surprised but I’m sure Michael Shannon will nail the role with no problem. I’m sure he can do the, “Kneel before Zod”, catchphrase nicely which I can’t wait to hear him say it. Will his General Zod character match the Terence Stamp character from “Superman II”? I hope not. I hope this version will take a different direction.

Not a Cool Video: I don’t like what Scott Hall have become, it’s so sad!!!

Charlie Sheen should take note. Sheen should look at what Scott Hall is going through. If you don’t know who Scott Hall is, he is a former WWE/WCW star who used to go under the name of Razor Ramone in old school WWF, plus he was one of the founders of the nWo group in WCW.

Here is Scott Hall, performing at some Indy wrestling event in Fall River, M.A. He felt sick and was hospitalized that night. Scott tried to walk to the ring and climb through it but he couldn’t. You can see he has a group of guys helping him to the ring. It’s sad.

You still have to give Scott credit and kudos though. It’s obvious he didn’t care if he was feeling like that, he was committed to performing. He had a lot of guts performing that night even if he was a mess. The show must go on, I guess.

I wish him well. He is an incredible performer, I always admired him in the wrestling business. Get well soon, Chico!

Book Review: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

So I finally got around to reading the book, “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” by Stieg Larsson. It’s the Millennium Trilogy series that everyone is talking about. The Lisbeth Salander character, her popularity is growing on the world wide web. I wanted to read the book before I see the movie. I know there’s a 2009 Swedish film that stars Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander, and there will be an American version of the film coming soon with David Fincher attached to direct, and Rooney Mara set to star as Lisbeth.

The books tells a story about a woman named, Harriet Vanger, who disappeared 40 years ago, and her Uncle Henrik Vanger, wants the truth of what happened out there. Henrik hires Mikael Blomkvist to help find this missing woman. Mikael later teams up with Lisbeth Salander, who is an expert researcher and computer hacker. She is also a punk goddess with a nasty attitude.

This book was hard to put down. I like to read a lot of books, yes, but I don’t spend a lot of time reading other books. For this one though, I kept coming back to it, reading this book, at least a couple of hours a day. This book was that addicting, so I can see why it is a popular series. It was unpredictable and had some twist and turns. Plus, Lisbeth Salander is such a badass character.

Just wait until David Fincher’s version of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” hits the theaters. You can betcha, that Lisbeth Salander character will become a mainstream hit easily. The character is already a hit in other countries because of that Swedish movie, but that character will become more well known after that American version hits theaters.

Back to the novel, it was very realistic and detailed. I felt like I was reading a Stephen King novel in some way. The storytelling in this book was very masterful and intense. The story is set in Sweden and not in the USA. The writing style of this book kept you begging some more. The Lisbeth Salander character is the most important part the of the novel. In the book, she’s the type of girl that does what she wants, not giving a rats ass what anybody thinks. I think that’s why she’s a like-able character. That girl is unpredictable, you never know what she’s going to do.

Plus, this is a great serial killer and crime story. I love reading crime fiction and horror stories. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies to do ’cause I need to be inspired. It’s good for the mind, plus it helps with songwriting inspiration.

When David Fincher’s movie hits theaters, I hope he stays true to the novel and not leave anything out. I plan to see the Swedish movie soon ’cause it is in Netflix, maybe I will watch it later this evening.

I wanted to read this book because everyone was talking about it online. It kind of grabbed my attention, so I finally picked up the book from Barnes & Noble. I also picked up the second book, “The Girl Who Played With Fire”, which I plan to read soon. There are other books I’ve been buying recently that I need to catch up on.

Stieg Larrsson was a phenomenal writer, it’s a shame that he’s gone.

Netflix Pick: The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus

So last night, for my Saturday night movie, I decided to check out “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”. Another film I wanted to see that happened to be on Netflix streamable.

This is another excellent film that I was impressed with. I think it’s one of Terry Gilliam’s best films. Terry Gilliam is the man behind all the Monty Python flicks such as “Monty Python and the Holy Grail’, “Monty Python and the Life of Brian”, he also did, “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen”, “Twelve Monkeys” and “Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas”.

The story of “Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus” takes place in London, England, where Doctor Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) would show an audience a sideshow troupe where he would take them to a journey into the “Imaginarium” which makes dreams come true. Parnassus tells a story to his daughter Valentina, Percy the midget and Anton that Parnassus is immortal and he has lived for a thousand years. He fell in love with a mortal woman, made a deal with the devil, trading his immortality to the youth. As part of the bargain, he promised his son or daughter to Mr. Nick on their sixteenth birthday. Valentina is now almost to the doomed age and Doctor Parnassus makes a new bet with Mr. Nick, whoever seduces five souls in the Imaginarium will have Valentina as a prize. Meanwhile the troupe rescues Tony, a young man that was hanged on a bridge by the Russians. Tony was chased until he finds and joins the group.

While the plot is very strange and a little confusing, I thought this a very well made movie. It was fun. It had great performances but I was most impressed with the style of the movie. It was very visual and creative. Different.

Some of you may or may not know that this was Heath Ledger’s final film before his death. He only had a small role in this film but it was an excellent performance, of course. Heath was originally supposed to star throughout the entire film but he obviously died around the time the movie was still filming. So Terry Gilliam hired three actors to take over the role of Tony which were: Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell. All three of those actors did a great job playing Tony, but of course, they couldn’t top Heath’s performance in the role.

The film had some unique costumes, and unique cinematography I’ve never seen before. This is a very different Terry Gilliam movie than all the others. You all know how some of his movies can be weird. The guy has a strange imagination when it comes to storytelling. Terry wrote and directed most of his movies so all of this is his creation. He’s quite an interesting guy.

If you like Terry Gilliam flicks, this is one worth checking out.

Triple H…the next action movie star?

I just got done watching the movie, “The Chaperone”, starring WWE star, Triple H. I’d have to say that this was the first bad movie I saw on Netflix. It was horrible. Bad acting, bad writing, just an all around bad movie. If I had one positive thing to say about this flick is that when I saw Triple H in this film, I immediately thought to myself, “This guy is going to be the next action movie legend”.

“The Chaperone” marks, the acting debut of Triple H. It’s a family comedy about a father just getting out of prison for robbing banks, and he reunites with his thirteen year old daughter. He gets a job as a “Chaperone” with  a group of kids going on a field trip to a Dinosaur museum. Other bank robbers try to hunt them down to get their money back. Very simple plot. It’s kind of like, “Kindergarten Cop” with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Yes, Triple H does have the looks and the potential to be an action movie star. Will Triple H ever star in a violent action movie with a hard R rating? Yes. One day he will, but he needs to be out of contract with WWE in order for that to happen. WWE is family friendly PG so WWE Films have to make family friendly films from this point on. Triple H said in interviews said he had plans to retire from wrestling to focus on an acting career for movies.

Seems like all wrestlers are doing that these days, The Rock and Steve Austin for example. Triple H could be a huge action movie star, if he chooses the right films. Triple H will never be bigger than Arnold, but I can definitely see him topping The Rock and Steve Austin easily in films.

I’d love to see Triple H get casted for the next, “Expendables” movie. Him and Sly would make a great team up. While, “The Chaperone” wasn’t shown in theaters, it was a straight to DVD release, it’s still a nice way to get Triple H’s name out there in the movies, a nice start, even though the film wasn’t any good.

Trips will star in a huge blockbuster movie someday. When wrestlers star in blockbuster movies, them becoming a superstar in film doesn’t happen over night. The Rock made his film acting debut in a CGI character as the Scorpion King, for “The Mummy Returns”, the Rock’s popularity in film grew from there. “The Scorpion King” got his own movie and it became a major hit. Steve Austin made his acting debut as a cameo for the Adam Sandler movie, “The Longest Yard”. Then Austin starred in mostly direct to DVD movies with only one big screen movie, “The Expendables”.

I wanted Triple H as Conan for the “Conan, The Barbarian” remake but that didn’t happen. Maybe Trips will one day, get his own Conan film.

Netflix Pick: “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans”

So last night, I finally saw the movie, “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans”, a movie I’ve always wanted to see, so I watched it on Netflix. The movie stars Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes.

The film takes place after the events of Hurricane Katrina. It’s about a police Seargant named Terence McDonagh (Nic Cage), who was just promoted to Lieutenant for rescuing a drowning man in a prison cell (the prison was flooded due to the Hurricane). After the prisoner’s rescue, Terence suffered a serious back injury which would last for the rest of his life, so he was forced to get on medication, Vicodin, to help stop the pain. From there, he became addicted to painkillers, alcohol and drugs. Terence girlfriend Frankie (Eva Mendes) is also a prostitute and a drug addict.

They call Terence, “Bad Lieutenant” for a reason. Terence doesn’t follow the law when busting people, he treats other criminals however he wanted. Whenever Terence caught other people with drugs, instead of arresting them, he’ll do drugs with them and talk with them like a friend. There was this one scene in the film where he caught a guy making out with a prostitute in the alley ways. Instead of arresting them, Terence would make out with the prostitute in front of the guy. Later in the film, Terence ends up in a murder investigation.

I thought this was Nicolas Cage’s best role in a long time. He really showed his acting talent in this one too. Warning though: Nic Cage plays an asshole like character through most of the film, he has a temper tantrum. I thought Nic Cage played the best asshole, he was actually kind of scary and it made you think, “Damn, you wouldn’t want to mess with this guy”. Plus, I thought the story to this movie was interesting. The plot was good. The film was entertaining as the film did had some really crazy scenes.

This is a film worth checking out for you Netflix users. Many people don’t like Nic Cage too much but this is was his most realistic role, he was pretty serious in this  film. Check it out. I was pretty impressed with the film.

Film Review: Your Highness

Starring: Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman, Zoey Deschanel

Directed by: David Gordon Green

So I decided to go to the movies today. I was hoping to see the film, “Hanna” but it wasn’t playing in my theater I was going to. So I ended up seeing the comedy, “Your Highness”.

Here is my review:

Plot/Synopsis: Fabious (James Franco) is about ready to get married to Belladonna (Deschanel), suddenly she is kidnapped by the evil wizard named, Leezar. Fabious teams up with Prince Thadeous (McBride) to go on a quest to rescue Fabious’s soon to be wife. Along the way, they meet up with Isabel (Natalie Portman), who is a warrior princess and she helps them in their adventure. Thadeous ends up falling in love with Isabel.

I saw this movie because I figure it would be nice to see a comedy for once. It’s a comedy spoofing off the Middle Ages. The same makers who made, “The Pineapple Express” film which I never saw yet. Back to “Your Highness”, this film has gotten mixed reviews by critics and movie fans. Did they see the same movie that I did?

I thought it was a very good comedy. It was brilliant. There were a few scenes where I couldn’t help myself but throw my head back and burst out laughing. If you dig movies with a lot of rude and crude humor, you would like this one. The one complaint I’ve seen from other people about this film is the “swearing”. I see no problem with swearing in movies. I never found swearing offensive. Swearing is not for everyone, I just never saw anything wrong with swearing. I swear all the time myself, it’s how I talk. You heard me in my videoblogs, right? The swearing is what made the movie entertaining. Without it, then the film wouldn’t be getting all this recognition. That’s how you’re supposed to make a “slapstick” comedy

The film is also surprisingly action packed. The action scenes were fun and there were a lot of cool special effects. Why wasn’t the film in 3D? It should have been! I like Danny McBride, he was a good actor in this. Plus, Natalie Portman’s character was bad ass.

I thought this film was very entertaining and I liked it a lot. I would probably buy it on DVD when it comes. There’s a lot of gay jokes in this film, but they are actually pretty funny if you don’t take it seriously. This film did a good job mixing different genres into one: fantasy, medieval, comedy, action, and romance. Do yourself a favor and check it out, soon. It was a fun movie and a laugh riot.

Score for “Your Highness” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

Report: Vince McMahon changes name for his company to WWE, taking the word “wrestling” out completely…

The WWE has changed it’s company name to, um, WWE. It will no longer be called, “World Wrestling Entertainment”.

Read more on the story, here.

While I do support WWE and wrestling, I do hate how Vince is trying to ignore “wrestling” and turning it into entertainment. As we all know, WWE started out as “wrestling” in the 80’s and 90’s, but in the 2000’s years, the company changed to strictly family “entertainment”.

This is one reason why I’m starting to watch TNA Impact, weekly because they concentrate on the “wrestling” more than the “entertainment” side. WWE is aimed toward family entertainment and TNA Impact is aimed toward the adult audience. TNA Impact is trying their best to reinvent, the “90’s attitude era” of WWE. During the 90’s of WWE, it used to be wrestling with violence, blood, sexy women and all that stuff. TNA wants to give us all that which WWE doesn’t have anymore.

I’ll admit that I am pretty hooked to TNA Impact, I find myself watching it every Thursday. TNA Impact is getting bigger and better with their storylines and wrestling. TNA will never get bigger than WWE, but they are getting pretty close. TNA have been having shows in bigger arenas and their TV ratings are going up weekly. So TNA is doing something right. Some of the storylines in TNA Impact are pretty intriguing and interesting. They do things over there that WWE could never do. I’m enjoying Ken Anderson’s feud with the guys in Immortal, Sting and RVD. TNA is having Ken Anderson feud with at least 10 wrestlers at once, and it’s almost like the whole company is on to him. Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have took control of the company “storywise” and I’m sure Dixie Carter will get her job back somehow in a big way. I’m also enjoying Kurt Angle’s feud with Jeff Jarrett which is pretty intense stuff. While TNA tries to compete with WWE, they try to keep their storylines different than WWE. I also think AJ Styles is a phenomenal performer.

Anyhow, back to WWE, even though I still watch and don’t like their “family entertainment direction” myself, I continue to watch because I still respect their performers. It’s sad that “Attitude” is dead in WWE, I miss the old days.

Report: Snooki & Jwoww get their own reality spin off show…

Well, it looks like Snooki and Jwoww, both won’t be returning to professional wrestling anytime soon. Snooki was part of WWE and Jwoww was part of TNA Impact. MTV plans to air the show next year.

The Hollywood Reporter, reports.

I think I’ll like watching this more than the actual “Jersey Shore” show itself. So maybe I’ll check it out. I don’t understand why so many people hate Snooki so much. To me, it’s all jealousy, that’s what it is. Whenever Snooki is posted anywhere online, I see nothing but nasty replies, like, “She’s a whore”, “She’s a B*TCH”, and all kinds of stuff. I don’t get it.
