Report: Megan Ellison wins Terminator rights!!!

“The Terminator” franchise has finally found its owner. That new owner happens to be a woman named, Megan Ellison, who runs her film company, Annapurna Films. She successfully won the rights in a bidding auction with Lionsgate studios.

For a long time now, “The Terminator” franchise had trouble with copyright issues, most notably with Pacificor. Now “The Terminator” has finally found a new home. Megan Ellison has set a deal to make two “Terminator” movies that will star Arnold in the leading role and Justin Lin to direct. It was said that Justin Lin will direct the film, only if the script is good enough.

Deadline, reports.

This is sounding like a re-boot is happening for sure. Starting the “Terminator” franchise over again. I’m sure Linda Hamilton won’t return because she’ll be too old for the role, but if they can’t get her, they should get Lena Headey from the “Sarah Connor Chronicles” to play Sarah.

A lot of people are laughing at Arnold that he’s too old for the role of course, but everyone did the same to Sly when he was playing Rocky and Rambo for one last time. Sly was successful at playing Rocky and Rambo for one last time. If Sly can do it, I’m pretty sure Arnold is capable enough of playing the Terminator for a few more films. Arnold is not that old, he’s younger than Sly.

Report: New poster and plot synopsis revealed for “The Expendables” sequel…

Nu Image Millennium released the new poster and plot synopsis for “The Expendables” sequel yesterday.

Check them out, here.

So look like Mickey Rourke is only going to get a small role in the beginning of the next film and then he’s killed off. They will also get a big name actress to play his daughter, Fiona.

I’m sure a few of the cast members from the first movie will return for the sequel. I know Dolph Lundgren and Jason Statham will definitely return. Arnold and Bruce Willis will come back too. I don’t know about Randy Couture, Jet Li or Terry Crews though.

I’m sure Sly will add more big name tough guys to the Expendables group. Hopefully Jean Claude Van Damme and Kurt Russell will be in.

Stone Cold can’t come back ’cause his character was killed in the last one, but I’m sure Sly will find another former WWE wrestler to join the cast. Dwayne Johnson maybe? I’m glad Millennium is moving forward with the movie pretty quickly. We’ll know who the new director is soon, and then they’ll start casting.

I really liked the first “Expendables” movie but it could be a better movie, it needed improvements. I hope the next film will be better than the first.

Report: Al Pacino to return to mobster films in “Gotti: Three Generations”…

The cast of “Gotti: Three Generations”, is looking amazing so far. First John Travolta gets signed for “The Dapper Don” Jon Gotti Sr., Lindsay Lohan gets in for a role and Joe Pesci as well. Al Pacino has been signed to play Neil Dellacroce, who is Gotti’s associate and mentor. This would make Pacino’s return to mobster flicks, since “The Godfather” and “Scarface” era.

The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Well, I don’t think Travolta and Pacino ever starred in a movie before. Correct me if I’m wrong. This is a great team up!

Report: Will Smith and Quentin Tarantino to team up for the first time for “Django Unchained”???

The iconic film director, Quentin Tarantino, finally announced his next film that he just wrote and will direct for the big screen. His next film is titled, “Django Unchained” which will be a western film. Tarantino wants Will Smith to star in the leading role. Tarantino describes that this movie will be a popcorn and revenge flick. This will be the follow up film from 2009’s, “Inglourious Basterds”.

Christoph Waltz who won an Oscar from “Inglourious Basterds”, is set to re-team with Tarantino by having a role for, “Django Unchained”. Samuel L. Jackson is also in negotiations to have a role in the film too.

More  on the story, here.

While I’m a huge fan of Tarantino movies, I love them all, I just don’t like Will Smith too much. I find Will Smith overrated as hell and his acting doesn’t grab me at all. I’ll see it in theater if I like the trailer enough. If not, then it will be a wait for DVD thing. I expect this movie “Django Unchained” to be 2 1/2 – 3 hours long. Everyone knows most Tarantino movies are very long films. What’s amazing about Tarantino’s work, is that even if the films are long, they won’t seem that long when you actually watch it because of the film’s pacing. His movies usually go by pretty fast. I expect the same will happen with this flick.

The sad thing is, that Sally Menke, Tarantino’s longtime editor won’t be a part of this film because of her death obviously. So the editing style maybe a little different with a different editor.

Film Review: Thor

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins

Directed by: Kenneth Branagh

Well today, I decided to go to the movies for something to do. Get out of the house for the day. I’ve been wanting to see the new “Thor” movie for a long time. Now it’s finally here, I went and saw it. Here is my review.

Plot/Synopsis: In 965 A.D., King Odin (Hopkins) sends his warrior son, Thor, from Asgard to Earth, in our present time, forcing him to live with humans. Of course, when Thor first arrived in Earth in our present time, he had a lot to learn and didn’t understand Earth. So Natalie Portman’s character, Jane Foster, tries to guide him living on Earth. She becomes a love interest for Thor. One of the most dangerous villains from Thor’s home land of Asgard, comes to invade Earth to try and kill Thor. Thor tries to save Earth from his enemies.

As a kid, I used to love reading Thor comics, so I was already a big fan of the character. I was a little worried that this film might suck since most Marvel movies aren’t that good, but, I was actually very impressed with Marvel’s “Thor”. This film actually told a superhero story, the right way. It stayed true to the comics.

The casting was really great and the acting was not that bad. I thought Chris Hemsworth as Thor, was a very good choice. Anthony Hopkins has been my favorite actor for years. Anthony always pulls off really good acting chops no matter what role he does, that guy can do anything.

I hate 3D movies. Most 3D movies are pretty bad, but I thought a 3D, “Thor” was very fitting. The 3D effects were very cool on Thor and that’s what the character needed to be cool. The special effects and the CGI made it feel like you were watching a movie, and not a cartoon. The special effects in the film was crazy.

There is something for everyone in this film. Action, suspense, comedy, romance, etc. It’s all there. I think this is the best Marvel superhero movie out of them all. They did a great job with “Thor”. I am so looking forward to the sequel already! I would go see this flick in theater again!

Score for “Thor” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

Report: “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” re-boot gets writers…

GK Films has hired new writers, for the upcoming “Tomb Raider” re-boot. They have hired, Mark Fergus and Hawk Otsby, who brought us “Iron Man” and “Cowboys & Aliens”.

Deadline, reports.

I usually disagree with re-boot films but this franchise needs to start over again ’cause the last Tomb Raider movie was pretty bad. I liked the first “Tomb Raider” film but the second one sucked.

The movie needs to be more like the video games. Have Lara solve mysteries and puzzles in historical places. It needs to have a good story and great action scenes.

I still say Rhona Mitra should be the new Lara Croft for the live action movie. She did the voice overs for the video games. I love Tomb Raider games. Especially the last one, “Tomb Raider: Underworld” which is the best Tomb Raider game ever, I think. She’s like a female version of Indiana Jones but a little different.

I hope the new movie will have Lara climb really high things much like the games. That’s what makes the games so much fun and addicting because Lara can do cool things. I hope they do a good job with the movie next time around. I want a good Tomb Raider flick like everyone else.

Hopefully they don’t just make it a popcorn action flick full of violence and CGI effects. This should be a serious Tomb Raider movie with a good story.

Report: Arnold makes “Cry Macho” his next movie official…

Arnold’s getting back to work right away. He decides to make that horse drama, “Cry Macho”, his next official movie where he plays a horse trainer. A lot of you may think to yourself, “Huh? Arnold on a Horse? LOL!”. Just for your information, “Cry Macho” won’t be the first movie where he rode a horse on in a film. Remember, in the movie “True Lies”, Arnold rode a police horse to chase some guy on a motorcycle (see the scene below).

While it is kind of disappointing that Arnold is doing a drama film first, I’m just glad he’s going back to leading roles, where he belongs. I’ll probably see “Cry Macho” in theater, sure. I’m looking forward to seeing how Arnold handles a drama film which he’s never done before. You can’t blame him for trying something different.

On top of that, Arnold seems to be a big horse lover and he attends a lot of horse races. I think he goes to the Kentucky Derby every year.

Deadline, reports.

Happy Star Wars day!

Every year on May the 4th, Lucasfilm will always release something new that has something to do with Star Wars. This year, it has something to do with the long awaited “Star Wars” movie on Blu Ray. Yes, all 6 Star Wars films are coming out on Blu Ray later this year.

Today, the Star Wars website, revealed what the cover box art is going to look like. You can either buy the original trilogy or the prequels separately or buy all 6 of them in one box set. I plan to buy them both separately.

See the video here, it’s nothing but art and images from the movies, plus the covers of the Blu Ray boxes. To see the extras on the Blu Rays, click here.

The Blu Rays hits stores on Sept. 16th. I’ll be sure to save up some money before then ’cause I’m definitely getting this.

Bin Laden in the movies…

Now that Bin Laden is gone, you can expect a bunch of Hollywood movies about Bin Laden coming the way. In fact, there is already one in the works right now. Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal, the same makers of the Iraq war film, “The Hurt Locker” is getting right to work on a movie about killing Bin Laden.

Deadline, reports.

You can expect both the movie and music industry to obsess with Bin Laden’s death. Yes, there will be bands and songwriters to write songs about Bin Laden.

About Bin Laden in the movies, I had a feeling that Kathryn Bigelow would be the first to pick up on it. You can expect a Bin Laden biopic film coming the way too.

There will be plenty of TV shows about Bin Laden. You can expect Law and Order TV show to do their own version of the Bin Laden killing as well.

I would also expect the “24” movie to hit the big screen soon, so hopefully Keifer Sutherland and the film makers would move forward with the film. I’m sure they’ll get right on it. The TV show “24” is about Jack Bauer hunting down dangerous terrorists. Keifer said many times in interviews that a “24” movie for the big screen is in the planning stages, but they have never gone as far as making it just yet. Maybe they’ll get right to work on it asap. Hopefully. Will we see Jack Bauer killing Bin Laden on the big screen? We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed for now.

Report: Arnold Schwarzenegger will try some serious “acting” before getting into “action”…

Yes, Arnold is officially back with the Terminator but don’t expect him to get back into action movies this soon. The Governator is set to star in a drama film called, “Cry Macho” which will be directed by “The Lincoln Lawyer”, director Brad Furman. The filming for “Cry Macho” will begin as soon as possible later this summer.

Arnold wants to find out if he has serious acting chops after all the silly popcorn action flicks he has done for so many years. “Cry Macho” is a novel adapted from N. Richard Nash. The plot/synopsis from this article, “He will play a damaged-goods horse trainer who’s just been ignominiously put out to pasture by his feckless boss. In exchange for some retirement money, the broken — and broke — horseman agrees to kidnap the boss’s 11-year-old son from his rich Mexican ex-wife. Things take an unexpected turn, however, when the ex-wife is all too glad to be rid of her juvenile delinquent.”

Arnold is signing on to projects like crazy. First announced was the Marvel project with Stan Lee for “The Governator” cartoon series & comic, then he announces action thriller “The Last Stand”, earlier this week he’s officially in for the next “Terminator”, and now this.

I’m glad Arnie is getting away from politics and getting back where he belongs, in the movies. As for “Cry Macho”, I wonder if he’s going to try to get an Oscar nod for this movie. Arnold’s never done a serious drama film in his life. They’ve all been action flicks. Sure, Arnold has done a few other genres. He’s done a few comedies like “Kindergarten Cop”, “Junior”, “Twins”, and he’s done a few thrillers like “End of Days” & “Collateral Damage”. He’s even done some sci fi films like “Total Recall” and “The 6th Day”.

Do you think people would care to see him in a drama? We’ll wait and see how the box office does with, “Cry Macho”. I don’t think Arnie will get an Oscar nod for that film. I can’t blame him for trying something different for once.
