Report: Stephenie Meyer’s “The Host” to be made into a film…(note: It has nothing do with “Twilight”, it’s an adult novel)

Three different producers have acquired to buy the rights for Stephenie Meyer’s adult novel, “The Host”, to be made into a future film. The producers payed for the rights with their own money.

Before you go accusing the book of being a boring litttle teeny vampire story, it is NOT. It’s the only adult novel that Stephenie Meyer has written and it has nothing to do with “Twilight”. This is a science fiction story.

Variety Reports:

I’ve been wanting to read, “The Host” but never bought the book. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies to do, I used to read a book all the time when I was young, but now I read a book once in a while.

I don’t think, “The Host” will be as big as “Twilight” but it still might do well in the box office depending on how the film is.

Report: Patrick Swayze was first choice to play a zombie in “Zombieland”…

Can you picture Patrick Swayze in a horror film? I don’t think he has ever done a horror film at all in his career. Well, Patrick had a small role in the film”Donnie Darko” but it wasn’t really a horror film, kind of a mix with sci fi.

The new zombie film, “Zombieland” which hits theaters Oct. 2nd, their original choice to star in the film for a small cameo was Patrick Swayze as himself as a zombie. Patrick had to say no to it, this was of course way before Patrick was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Also asked for the film were Sly Stallone, Kevin Bacon, Joe Pesci, Dwayne Johnson, etc. but they all said no as well.

It is rumoured that Bill Murray said “yes” for a cameo as himself as a zombie.

Report: First look at the “Kung Fu Kid” (aka “The Karate Kid” remake)

The Karate Kid remake which is retitled to the “Kung Fu” kid that stars Jackie Chan and Will Smith’s son has just begun filming, and on set pics has surfaced the web.

See Jackie Chan and the Will Smith kid in action here:

Man, I’ll never forget the days when Ralph Macchio spoke out on this movie and he totally trashed the film, not liking the idea of his film being remade.

I don’t like the idea of the Karate Kid being remade either and it was all Will Smith’s idea.

Report: Pics of the new “A-Team” van has surfaced the web!!!

Coming soon has a pic of the new A-Team van. The van looks very similar to the classic van from the TV series.

From ComingSoon.net:

I know this film is getting a lot of negativity, they don’t want to see the A-Team remade of course, but I actually think it’s kind of cool.

I think they’re gonna make a good A-Team movie and I for one, am looking forward to seeing Liam Neeson as Hannibal. I think Liam can nail that character perfectly.

Film Review: Jennifer’s Body

Starring: Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried

Directed by: Karyn Kusama

Today, I just saw the movie, “Jennifer’s Body”…a film that is a mix of horror and comedy. The film is written by Diablo Cody, the Oscar winning screenwriter who wrote the movie, “Juno”.

Here is my review:

Plot/Synopsis: Two high school best friends Jennifer (Megan) and Needy (Amanda) enjoys some fun times by going to see a local rock band, named Low Shoulder at a small bar. The band Low Shoulder has kidnapped Jennifer after the gig and turns out the band were devil worshippers. Jennifer is being held in a sacrifice in a Satanic ritual which the band must kill Jennifer, hoping that this will get the band a record deal. This didn’t do anything but turn Jennifer into a possessed demon which she goes on a killing rampage. Jennifer’s friend, Needy, tries to end all of this horror herself.

Lets get right to it…

The Good: Megan Fox starring the leading role. The brief lesbian kiss between Megan and Amanda (could have been a longer makeout though). Special effects, cinematography, Diablo’s unique dialogue when the character’s speak, the gross out scenes, Megan’s evil smile with her face covered in blood, Meg’s acting skills (she can do the leading role quite well).

The Bad: The story and plot line (seems like every horror film we’ve seen, nothing original), the Low Shoulder rock band being Satanic, Adam Brody’s acting…no nudity (sorry Diablo and Karyn, but this is not a true horror film if Megan and Amanda refuses to go naked, there were sexual content in the film but NO naked boobies! Just some advice when you work on the sequel, teen horror films mix it up with murder, gore, and full on nudity!) Too much rock songs being played throughout the film when I would much rather hear classical scoring and not these typical teeny power pop bands blaring through the film.

I respect Diablo Cody for giving horror films a try, but she’s gotta lot of learning to do with the horror genre. It wasn’t a bad film, but nothing amazing and mind blowing. I thought it was pretty entertaining and ok. Just an ok film. It’s just something to wait on DVD for and kind of wished I did. If Diablo wants to get into horror, she needs to learn from the masters: Wes Craven, John Carpenter, Rob Zombie or Marcus Nispel. I’m sure they would be willing to teach her how to write good horror stories.

Score for “Jennifer’s Body” = ** 1/2 stars (as in “ok”)

Report: Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood to work together for the second time in the “Hereafter”…

Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood already worked together for the film, “Invictus” which is set for a theaterical release date on, Dec. 11th.

Clint recruited Matt Damon again to star in a thriller titled, “Hereafter”. The plot and synopsis is being kept underwraps for now. Clint and the crew will start filming “Hereafter” right away this fall. While they are keeping quiet on the plot, they compare this film to the likes of, “The Sixth Sense”. Hope this isn’t another film about seeing dead people?

Will Clint have a starring role to be onscreen with Matt in “Hereafter”? Could that be why they are keeping the plot secret for now?

Report: “No plans for Superman,” says DC Entertainment’s, Diane Nelson…

So, DC Comics and Warner Bros. team up to make “DC Entertainment”. Diane Nelson is the new president of the company. The first thing people want to know is, when will there be a new Superman movie? The answer is, not anytime soon. Diane said so herself at MTV News.

It looks like they are more focused on the new “Green Lantern” movie with Ryan Reynolds attached to star.

MTV News reports:

http://splashpage.mtv.com/2009/09/15/exclusive-we-dont-have-any-current-plans-for-superman-says-dc-entertainment-president/

Damn, they better plan something because 2011 will fly by fast. The Siegels ordered them to make a new Superman movie by 2011 if they want to do one. I’m sure DC Entertainment will plan a new Superman movie sometime in 2010.

Report: Sharlto Copley and Jessica Biel in talks to join “A-Team” cast…

The “District 9” leading star, Sharlto Copley, and supermodel/actress hottie, Jessica Biel are in talks with 20th Century Fox to join the cast of the “A-Team” remake. Copley will play the comedic character, Murdock. Jessica Biel will be playing an Army general that is also Faceman Peck’s ex-lover.

Also joining the cast, will be Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Faceman, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as BA Baracus.

More on it here:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/15171/copley-biel-recruited-by-a-team

Not a bad cast. I can definitely see Sharlto Copley as Murdock. Copley is a good actor and I’m sure he can nail the Murdock role perfectly. If you don’t think he can, I suggest you watch, “District 9”. His role in “District 9” is kind of similar to Murdock in “A-Team” which is what made Fox go after him.

Patrick Swayze…

While I’m sure TV will be showing all of his movies as a Patrick Swayze marathon all week, but his death makes me want to collect his movies on DVD, which I will do next time I go to Best Buy. I will especially buy “Ghost”, “Road House”, “Point Break” and “Black Dog”. Maybe even “Dirty Dancing” too, don’t know.

His death should be a wake up call to all heavy smokers out there. If you’re a heavy smoker like he was, I would suggest you learn to quit, so you don’t end up like him. The truth hurts yes, but smoking kills. This could happen to anybody.

It is why I don’t smoke. I fuckin’ hate cigarettes, cigars, or any cancer stick that blows smoke out of them. I sure don’t want a girlfriend that smokes. I want a nice girl that is perfectly clean and healthy.

I’m sure Patrick’s death got all smokers thinking to themselves, “Gee, I hope that don’t happen to me, I better quit smoking soon”. Patrick even still smoked heavily even when he was still battling the pancreatic cancer.

You have to feel sorry and feel so bad for his wife, Lisa, his lifelong companion and best friend since he was 18 years old. She’s got to be so torn and heartbroken.

This year’s Oscar awards will indeed do some kind of tribute and dedication to him, hopefully. May Patrick rest in peace, he is a real life ghost now.
