Sylvester Stallone makes surprising return to SNL for a cameo segment w/ John Goodman and Robert Deniro…

Last night on SNL, Sylvester Stallone makes a surprising return to SNL for a cameo segment with John Goodman and Robert Deniro to help promote the upcoming movie, “Grudge Match”. The last time Sly made an appearance on SNL was when he hosted the show back in 1997. Sly doesn’t do comedy too much but when he tries, he can be pretty good at it. This segment is pretty funny too. Enjoy.

Emilia Clarke is Sarah Connor for Terminator reboot film…

"Game of Thrones" actress, Emilia Clarke, who is most-famous for playing the role of Daenerys Targaryen aka the khaleesi has officially signed on to play Sarah Connor for the upcoming Terminator reboot film currently titled, "Terminator: Genesis". This would make the second "Game of Thrones" actress to play Sarah Connor 'cause Lena Headey played the character for "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" TV show.

More on the story, here.

The question is will she be starring alongside, Arnold Schwarzenegger? Will he be back to say the famous catchphrase, “Ah’ll be back” again? It is still not yet known whether or not Arnold will be down but he has expressed interest in returning in some form so anything is possible. Never rule out a leading role return for Arnold as the Terminator ’cause that can be a possibility too. Now that Arnold’s done with politics, I can see him returning to the Terminator on a full-time schedule. I’m almost 100% certain that the Terminator re-boot was written for Arnold to return. He’s already set to return as Conan but we’ll soon know if he’s ready for the Terminator. I won’t see the movie if Arnold’s not gonna be in it.

While I hate re-boots… I think the Terminator series deserves a re-boot ’cause “Terminator: Salvation” was garbage. Lets hope they do a better job, next time around. The Terminator deserves a great movie again! The story of John Connor and Skynet deserves to be told better.

Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” trailer arrives online!!!

When Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” was first announced last year, I’m sure everybody expected it to be a dark & scary sci-fi with impressive visual effects and CGI and stuff — kind of like Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” — turns out that “Interstellar” looks to be a more realistic space movie. “Interstellar” looks interesting to me so I’m looking forward to it. It has a large cast of big name actors.

Enjoy.

Film Review: “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”…

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman

Directed by: Francis Lawrence

Today I went and did a little Christmas shopping and I finally got around to watching the new “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” movie and here is my review…

Plot/synopsis: This film takes place a year after the 74th Hunger Games where Katniss and Peeta were victorious. President Snow is angry at them and he accuses them of breaking the rules so they can win last year’s Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta must go on a Victor’s Tour where they are forced to visit all of the Districts. A rebellion against the Capitol has begun as the 75th Hunger Games approaches. Katniss and Peeta are forced to compete in the Hunger Games for the second time because this is President Snow’s way of getting payback at them.

The first “Hunger Games” movie maybe pretty good and got mixed reviews but in “Catching Fire” there is a major improvement. You know how in the first movie where the acting of the cast was like, “eh, could be better” — well, the acting of the entire cast was MUCH improved. Everybody was phenomenal in this film even Jennifer was really good, of course. The writing and directing has greatly improved too so Francis Lawrence was a great choice of director.

With that being said, I thought this film was perfect. Visuals and cinematography was awesome. The story line can get more intense, violent and dark. Jennifer as Katniss has more personality in this film too. She’s more human in this one.

Even though this franchise is aimed at the young generation, adults are getting into it and I can see why. These stories don’t feel like they were made for young kids. Even though you might have to wait toward the end of the movie for all the violence and action to start… it was still a fun movie. Definitely 10 times better than the last one. There were some shocking scenes to this movie and some interesting twists and turns. A pretty unpredictable film.

I’ve never read the other two Hunger Games books, I’ve only read the first one. I will get around to reading the other two at some point.

I’m a huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence. As soon as I saw her performance in the movie “Winter’s Bone”… I immediately thought to myself… this girl is gonna have a huge career ahead of her, and I was right. She’s been getting big roles like crazy. I’m looking forward to seeing her in “American Hustle” as well!

“Catching Fire” was a very good film and one of the best films of this year. If you haven’t seen it yet, you shouldn’t start with this one. You need to watch the trilogy in order.

Two more movies to see left of 2013. Next film I plan on seeing is “The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug” and I’m looking forward to “American Hustle” as well. After I see those two films I will decide my Best of 2013 list.

Two thumbs up on “Catching Fire”.

Godzilla teaser stomps the internet!!!!

Wow!!! I used to be skeptical of the new upcoming “Godzilla” reboot but I’m very impressed with the new trailer. I’m sold to the movie, I think. The film looks like a thrill ride. Most movies about giant monsters are crap but this one looks awesome. I’m really hoping this movie turns out good.

Godzilla in this movie looks more realistic too. Doesn’t look as CGI/cartoonish.

I’m definitely down for this movie. Hell yes!

Jason Momoa in talks for major role in “Batman/Superman” movie but no one’s saying what role he is playing…

“Game of Thrones” star, Jason Momoa is in talks for a major unknown role in the upcoming, “Batman/Superman” movie by Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. For now, nobody’s talking on what role he is playing but it has been speculated that he could be playing a character named Doomsday or the Martian Manhunter.

More on the story, here.

I wouldn’t be too quick to judge that he could be playing a villain character ’cause of his muscular build. What if he could be playing a good guy too? He might even be the next Green Lantern or the Flash ’cause after all… this “Batman/Superman” is setting up for the upcoming, “Justice League” movie. Jason could be a decent Green Lantern or the Flash ’cause both of those characters have muscular physiques too. Just cut Jason’s long hair and shave his facial hair and Jason would make a great superhero! Maybe that’s why they’re being secretive on his role ’cause he could be playing one of the Justice League characters.

Watched “The Purge” last night and I thought the film was great!!!

Last night, I finally got around to watching “The Purge”, the latest horror film starring Ethan Hawke. The reviews of this film were mixed but did people watch the same film I did? I thought the film was really good and didn’t find anything wrong with it.

The story takes place in the 2022 in which the United States has become a nation “reborn”. The new United States now has a New Founding Fathers of America and because of it… crime and unemployment is very low because the new government started a yearly thing called, ‘The Purge”. “The Purge” is a yearly 12 hour period where murder would be legalized during those 12 hours. During those 12 hours, law enforcement and emergency services are shut down. “The Purge” happens once a year. James Sanding is a rich man who lives in Los Angeles with his family and he got rich selling home security systems. During “The Purge”, James tries his best to protect his family from a group of masked people and a man known as the Polite Leader (pictured above).

Many are saying that the script to this film was pretty bad and the characters were bad as well. I’m like, really? I thought the script and the characters were fine to me. It’s just a movie, that’s all it is. I actually thought the story was pretty realistic and something like this could happen in real life. What would America be like if there was a time where murder would be completely legalized for a day? I thought the film was kind of creepy and had me at the edge of my seat.

I thought Ethan was good in this movie like he always is good. I really liked Rhys Wakefield playing the Polite Leader too… he was a badguy you wanted to hate. I thought the movie ended pretty good too. Nothing wrong with the film at all. I refuse to get into details about the plot ’cause I don’t wanna give too many spoilers.

You see, when I watch movies… I don’t go by other peoples opinions. I go by my own opinion alone. I’ll like a film whether everyone hates it or not. I won’t hate a film ’cause Roger Ebert or other movie fans hated it. I don’t follow popular opinion.

I thought “The Purge” was one of the best films of 2013 and I really mean that too. I would probably add the BluRay of this film to my collection pretty soon. I’m already looking forward to seeing what they’re gonna do with the sequel too. “The Purge” is mysterious for now but we’ll know more information on how the new United States started the yearly “Purge” in the later sequels.

I respect this film ’cause they did something different and challenging. Something original for once. This is a nice idea they’re doing.

Did Suzanne Collins rip off “Battle Royale” for the “Hunger Games” books/movies???

Last night, I finally got around to watching, “Battle Royale” which is a Japanese film that is made available for streaming on Netflix. After I watched, “Battle Royale”… I immediately thought to myself… is Suzanne Collins “Hunger Games” a complete remake/ripoff of “Battle Royale”? That’s what it felt like to me. The plot and idea to “Battle Royale” was very much the same as “The Hunger Games”… very close to it. All these kids get together and get forced to play this game where they fight to their death. I read that “Battle Royale” was too adapted from a Japanese novel of the same title. The thing is, “Battle Royale” came out earlier before Suzanne Collins published, “The Hunger Games” novel in 2008.

Did Suzanne Collins steal the story and rip off the idea? Seriously, if you haven’t seen “Battle Royale” or “Hunger Games” watch both films and you would see that they are almost exactly the same except the only difference is both of these films were made in different countries. Plus, “Battle Royale” is even more dark and more violent than the “Hunger Games”.

After doing a little google research, I haven’t seen Suzanne Collins herself said anything about “Battle Royale” on whether or not that’s where she got the idea from. No interviews about that or anything. I was pretty surprised to see that these two films were very similar.

On top of that, I find “Battle Royale” to be 10x’s better than the “Hunger Games”. “Battle Royale” is more intense, violent and gruesome.

I LOVE watching Japanese movies on Netflix. I’ve been watching a lot of them. Japan can make way better movies than the United States for sure.

Disney scores full rights for “Indiana Jones” franchise from Paramount…

Ever since George Lucas announced retirement from Hollywood last year, he gave up the rights for his Lucasfilm company and sold it to Disney. This gives the rights for Disney to make as many Star Wars movies as they wanted; however, people wondered what’s gonna happen to the Indiana Jones franchise since it’s owned by Paramount Pictures. Now you no longer have to worry about what’s gonna happen with Indy ’cause the franchise has been bought by Disney. Paramount has agreed to sell the full rights to Disney. Which means that Disney now owns the first four Indy films: “Raiders”, “Temple of Doom”, “Crusade” and “Crystal Skull”. This also means that Disney has the full rights to do whatever they want with the character. Make as many movies as they want: sequels, prequels, reboots, etc.

This doesn’t confirm that Indy V has gotten the greenlight yet but for a long time now… Harrison Ford has expressed interest in returning to the character for one more time. My question is will Harrison still do this film without George Lucas on board? Will Steven Spielberg still direct Indy V without George?

Deadline reports.

I’m actually kind of thankful that George is no longer doing Indy ’cause that’s an opportunity for a better film. While I did like “Crystal Skull” the last Indy movie, I’ll admit that some of it was silly as hell and had some problems. It’s just that I think that movie would have been a lot better if Shia Labeouf wasn’t in it… he pretty much ruined it for me. Other than that, the film was pretty exciting. I liked the idea of mixing Indy with sci-fi — I just wished the script was better.

I don’t care what anyone thinks — Disney can make as many Indy films as they want to sequels, prequels or reboots… whatever but nothing will top “Raiders”. “Raiders” is obviously the best Indy film. I love it so much. It’s one of those movies I can watch over and over and never get tired of it. “Raiders” is indeed an essential classic and an important movie. I thought “Temple of Doom” was a pretty amazing film but my heart will always be toward “Raiders”.

Lets hope Disney won’t remake, “Raiders” ’cause that would be really bad.

Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman for “Batman/Superman” film…

Warner Bros., and Zack Snyder has announced that they have found their Wonder Woman for the upcoming, “Batman/Superman” film. Actress Gal Gadot has been hired to play Wonder Woman. I don’t know much about Gal Gadot. In fact, I’ve never even heard about her until she was announced for this film. Then I read that she was in a “Fast and Furious” film or two. I think I remember her from “Fast 6” when I saw that film in theater earlier this year.

WB’s choice of her is getting mixed opinions but I like the choice. She’s a total hottie. I’m reading a lot of complaints that people are saying that Gal is too skinny to be, Wonder Woman. I’m like really? Wonder Woman is supposed to be skinny. Lynda Carter was real skinny when she played the character for that TV show.

I’m excited for Wonder Woman… she’s finally gonna be on the big screen for the first time! If this film is a success which I’m sure it will be, hopefully Wonder Woman will be getting her own spin-off film. I’m sure Gal will play Wonder Woman for the “Justice League” movie as well. Can’t wait to see Gal in the Wonder Woman suit!!!
