Report: Stuntman gravely injured in James Bond stunt…

Making crazy action movies with crazy stunts has been dangerous these days. A stuntman getting killed in a dangerous Batmobile wreck in “The Dark Knight” is just the beggining. The James Bond “Quantum of Solace” gets even better.

The film crew of 007 “Quantum of Solace” were filming a high speed car chase scene in Italy. That was real, it is no CGI or staged crap baloney, this is 100% real car chasing, using real cars and all. It was reported that director of the film Marc Forster and leading star Daniel Craig both were NOT at the scene.

At least a few stunt men were injured, and as you saw on reports, one car went off the road and the car actually went into the lake. An experience stunt driver is in critical condition, “gravely” injured means this could be life threatening.

The Associated Press reports:

I find it amazing that these film makers are risking their lives desperately trying to make a scene exactly it is in the script no matter how dangerous the scene is.

In the past, action movies used to be made in CGI, in studio and on the stage, etc. Today is not like that anymore. Action movies these days have been doing the real thing to make it realistic.

Sly Stallone admitted in a few articles in the past that he was injured quite a bit when he was filming the new “Rambo”, most everything was done for real in “Rambo”, the only fake thing in “Rambo” was when Rambo was rolling down the hill with the explosion coming behind him, that was the only thing done in CGI, but the rest of the movie was real.

Thought: May will be a big competition for movies…

So, three huge films are coming out all in one month in May. “Iron Man, “Indiana Jones 4”, and “Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”. I plan on seeing all three next month. At first I wasn’t interested in “Iron Man” but the more photos and trailers I’ve seen of the film, I now think it’s going to be one of the best superhero films made in a long time.

Indy 4 I’ve been dying to see ever since it was first announced. I’m such a huge Indy nut. I actually watched “Raiders of the Lost Ark” on DVD a couple of days ago and the movie still amazes me, you learn something new everytime you watch that film. I’ve seen “Raiders” over a hundred times that I’ll never get tired of that film. I plan on watching “Temple of Doom” and “The Last Crusade” this weekend.

But in Indy 4, I really think we’re definitely going to see the return of the Ark. In the previews and the pictures, we see Indy trying to fight for a boxed crate in a warehouse against the Russians. Which I’ll imagine the Ark of Covenant is inside of it. Indy 4 shall be a great film and I’m looking forward to it. Indy 4 definitely will not top “Raiders” but it will be a fun movie.

“Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”, I love the Chronicles of Narnia books by C.S. Lewis so much, I’ve read them all when I was a kid. The animated movies of these stories weren’t that great, the low budget UK versions are shit too. It is about time a live action US movie is made off these books. “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” is such a mind blowing film, it’s a beautiful film and it’s definitely one of my top films ever made, and “Prince Caspian” looks amazing too.

We all know these three films will make big money breaking records, which one will make the most money out of all three of them?

I am predicting “Indy 4”. “Indy 4” will steal the record out of all three. I’m sure when May 22nd comes, we’ll be seeing the lines of the movie theaters going out all the way past the food courts in the malls. This is why I plan on seeing these movies in the afternoon so I don’t have to deal with long lines in the evening hours.

But I’m really am looking forward to these three films. I haven’t been to the theaters to see a new film for a while ’cause there hasn’t been anything good playing the last couple of months, The last movie I saw in theater was “Vantage Point” I think, that was a while back. And of course, I will review “Iron Man”, “Indy 4” and “Prince Caspian” in this blog. Can’t wait to see ’em.

Report: Clint Eastwood and Woody Allen to debut their films at this year’s Cannes…

At this year’s Cannes Festival it has been announced that Clint Eastwood will debut his film “The Changeling” at the film festival, the film stars Angelina Jolie which is about a mother who has a kidnapped son and hopes he gets rescued. Woody Allen will also debut his film “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” that stars Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem which is about a painter that has a romantic affair with two lesbian women, this film is supposed to have a long steamy lesbian seen, can you imagine the Cannes Film Festival audience look on their face when they see that scene?

Steven Spielberg as announced in the past will debut “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” there as well. These films will hit Cannes before they even hit theaters.

The festival runs from May 14 – 25.

I’ll probably wait for DVD release for Eastwood’s “Changeling”, I will do the same for Woody Allen’s film.

I’m definitely seeing Indy 4 in theater though. This year’s Cannes festival sounds cool.

Report: Spike TV nail down Rambo franchise…

Spike TV has worked a deal with Lionsgate studios and bought the new “Rambo” film to air on the TV channel in the future. Spike bought the new “Rambo” for $4.5 million. Spike also picked up the first three “Rambo” films from CBS TV Distribution. My guess is that Spike TV wants to have a Rambo marathon, to air all 4 “Rambo’s” in a row in one day.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117984332.html?categoryid=14&cs=1

Since I already own the first 3 Rambo’s on DVD and I’ll soon own the new Rambo when it comes out for BluRay May 27th, I won’t need to watch this on cable TV.

But it’s no surprise to me that Spike TV will want to air the new Rambo since that TV channel loves to hype that film to death before it was out in theater.

Report: Viacom, MGM, and Lionsgate team up to launch new TV channel to air movies new and old…

Three major companies Viacom, MGM, and Lionsgate will team up to launch a TV movie channel where it wil air new and old movies that were made through any of those companies. The channel will even air new movies such as “Iron Man”, “G.I. Joe”, etc. Including the classic ones like “Dirty Dancing” and others. The channel is expected to launch in the fall of 2009. This channel will be similar to HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, etc. A pay channel for cable movies.

Am I reading this correctly? The channel plans on airing new movies before they are even out in theater?

If so, bad idea. The channel won’t last long because it’ll help make the new movies bomb in theater because they are being aired on TV.

Reporter: Terminator 4 to get canned?

This movie blog at UGO is reporting that Terminator 4 that McG is directing the rumours are going strong that Warner Bros. could be canning the project.

More on it here….

http://movieblog.ugo.com/index.php/movieblog/more/has_t4_been_shut_down/

Please god lets hope it’s true! A Terminator film without Arnold is travesty. T-4 will bomb without him no matter who is in it. I wouldn’t care if they shut down this film. Let it be 3 Terminator films only or wait for Arnold to be done being governor so he can star the lead in the next three. There can not be a Terminator film without Arnold. It just doesn’t work.

If this happens, good riddance!

Report: Sigourney Weaver says “no” to Alien 5…

Sigourney Weaver spoke to MTV Movies blog and confirmed that Ridley Scott was interested in doing an “Alien 5” to direct the Alien series again, but Fox killed that opportunity because of a new “Alien Vs. Predator” series. So don’t ever expect another Alien movie coming with Weaver starring as Ripley again because I don’t see it ever happening. Weaver wants “Ripley to rest”.

MTV Movies Blog:

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/04/18/sigourney-weaver-on-alien-squel-let-ripley-rest/

We may not see Ripley in “Alien 5” but could Ripley have a small role in “Alien Vs. Predator 3”? Sounds good to me. I doubt it will happen though.

Report: Star Trek XI gets a PG-13 rating…and other Star Trek news…

In this article reports lots of new information revealed for the upcoming “Star Trek XI” directed by J.J. Abrams (pictured above).

The movie has been given a PG-13  rating (my guess for violence and brief profanity). The reason Star Trek XI has been pushed back in the summer of 2009 instead of Christmas this year is because Paramount really wants this to be a summer blockbuster. They really don’t want this movie to bomb.

The budget to this film is way below 200 million. (My guess is to keep it low budget as possible to get the classic feel of the original Star Trek TV series)

Originally Steven Spielberg read the script to “Star Trek XI” and he was the one who talked J.J. Abrams into making this movie for Paramount during their work on the “Transformers” set.

The whole point of starting over again in Star Trek was to “re-invent” the franchise. Leonard Nimoy says that “Star Trek XI” will be the biggest film ever and it will be worth waiting for. What’s even more interesting that Nimoy says that he didn’t like Captain Kirk’s death scene in “Star Trek: Generations”. Nimoy also agrees that it wouldn’t make sense to bring Captain Kirk back in “Star Trek XI” saying that it would put damage to the story.

In this article, it also explains that the USS Enterprise will be built in the film as you saw on the trailer. So we probably won’t see the completed Enterprise toward the end of the film.

Interesting stuff. I just can’t wait to see this film. It’s going to be an amazing movie with a killer cast. This is gonna be the best Star Trek film ever made, mark my words!
