Sly Stallone doesn’t own any rights to Rocky character and said he didn’t get paid much for first three Rocky films… plus Rocky 7 just maybe in the works soon…

Sly Stallone did this interesting interview with Variety and I think it’s a really good read. Sly talks about a lot of things with them. Sly talks about how he was robbed by the studios of ownership of the Rocky character… the studios fully own the character rights and Sly doesn’t own any of it. Sly says he didn’t get paid much of the first three Rocky movies and says he would have gotten paid a lot more even if he did own the full rights to the character. Some of you may ask yourself, “Sylvester Stallone is a millionaire and very rich, why would he care about making more money off the character???” I’m sure some of you are thinking to yourselves that Sly is just a whiner but I don’t think so… I think Sly totally deserves to own full rights for the Rocky character since the character was all his creation. After all the hard work and successes he did out of that character, I think he totally deserves to get paid fully and fairly. The studios obviously just didn’t care. They own the full rights to Rocky when they shouldn’t. It was Sly that helped make the studios millions… they should have thought about that but all the studios cared about was the money. Think about how unfair it is that when you create something and it was successful but you got paid less for your art? Sly has every right be pissed off, in my opinion.

Sly also talks about other things in his career… he talked about how his career almost came to an end and how nobody was interested in making Rocky VI (“Rocky Balboa”). Now that MGM finally agreed to make “Rocky Balboa” which came out in 2006, look where that got Sly? “Creed I & II” happened after that and now it’s looking like that MGM studios really want to make Rocky 7 now.

Sly says in this interview that he has an idea for another Rocky movie and he says that MGM is all over it and they want the movie to get made real fast. MGM is dying for another Rocky movie after them refusing to make “Rocky Balboa” in 2006 at first.

The new Rocky movie is not going to have anything to do with the Creed spinoffs and it’s looking like it’s going to be a seventh installment of the original Rocky series. People never thought a Rocky 7 would ever happen but it looks like it’s gonna happen ’cause MGM wants it pretty badly. Sly also says there might be a Rocky prequel TV series that will be streaming service exclusive which is also interesting.

I’m all for another Rocky movie and I’m all for that Rocky prequel TV show too. I think a Rocky prequel is a good idea. Just imagine what a young Rocky Balboa’s life would have been like? They would need to hire a young actor to play a younger version of Rocky Balboa which that idea would be very intriguing really. They would also need a younger Paully, a younger Mickey and maybe a younger Apollo Creed too.

Anyhow, I respect Sly so much. I admire him for going through so many struggles in life and somehow managed to get back on top again. He’s a pretty strong guy too. I also respect him for his honesty too ’cause not many actors admit that he’s been in some pretty horrible films. Sly’s not afraid to admit that he’s been in some pretty bad movies. I would think it’s safe to say that Sly has gotten much better at choosing his films, though.

The “Top Gun: Maverick” teaser finally drops and it looks pretty amazing!!! I’m stoked to see it!!!

Since today is the first day of San Diego Comic Con, the “Top Gun: Maverick” trailer was shown there exclusively and now here it is online for all to see.

This is a very impressive trailer and I got goosebumps watching it. I know some of you out there may think “Top Gun” doesn’t need a sequel and I know some will be laughing about it but I think a “Top Gun” sequel will work. After you see this trailer, maybe you’ll agree now?

I’m a huge fan of the first “Top Gun” movie. I love it so freakin’ much and I can’t wait for this one. I had a feeling that it would be more like the first movie except the filming technology has improved it looks like.

No matter what your thoughts on Tom Cruise are, I bet you’re getting pumped for this movie. I know I am. I’m definitely gonna see it when it comes out for sure.

Enjoy!

Feeling really strong on bench lately, wow… today I just did a 160 lb. heavy single… feels good!

I’ve been killing it on the bench and my numbers on bench have been going up lately. Feels great to be killing it on bench. Earlier at the gym this morning, I’m starting to do 135 lbs. for more reps finally. Since today, I just did a 150 lb. for a triple, I thought to myself: “If I can smash a 150 lb. for a triple, I could probably do 160 for a single so lets try that”.

I ended my bench session with a 160 lbs. single. I did that number for two sets and both of them were easy.

Yep. I’m on the road to a 200 lb. bench and I might be able to make it in time before the Aug. 30th powerlifting meet at Albany Strength. We’ll see.

If I can do a 160 lb. heavy single then my estimated pr. could be about 170 lbs. so I’m just about there at 200 lbs.

I used to hate benching but I’ve been loving it more and more. Will I be able to make it to a 200 lb. bench this summer? I’m gonna try but we’ll see how it goes. Just gotta keep working and working, stay consistent.

Enjoy the video.

Powerlifting training is really helping my physique and getting more muscle gains… so glad I got into it…

Man… doing all this powerlifting training which I have been doing for about a year now has been really paying off. I’ve noticed that I’ve gotten some major chest gains since I’ve gotten into bench pressing full time. For flat bench, I do strength training for like 1 – 5 reps on each set but I do hypertrophy training for like 8 – 12 reps on incline bench and cable crossovers for muscle gains. If you’re going to train for strength, I figure it’s important to build muscle too. Building muscle helps get you stronger, believe it or not.

I’m getting some major gains on the lower body ’cause I do a lot more lower body stuff than the upper body. My quads feel like they’re getting bigger. My calves are finally developing too. Although I train the calves with standing and seated calves, I also train the calves with all the barbell squatting and deadlifting that I do too. Doing barbell squats and deadlifting, they both work the calves too. My calves are getting slightly bigger finally.

I always knew that getting into powerlifting training full time would help my physique even more and it’s happening. I’m soon going to be posing for bodybuilding pics so you can see what I’m talking about.

Powerlifting training really can give you muscle gains. Heavy lifting can really help. I’m proud to get into strength training finally and I’m definitely getting stronger on the big three lifts too. It’s going to take some more time for me to get to the bigger numbers but I’ll get there soon.

There’s a lot of great benefits in powerlifting, it’s quite a ride really. I’m having a blast doing it.

“Stranger Things” is the best original show on Netflix… I’ll be watching it until it ends for good…

So last night I finished “Stranger Things 3”. Even though it was kind of a short season this year, I was still blown away and impressed by it. This show is a well-written show and very well-acted by the entire cast too. Oh my god, the show is so fucking good. It’s also directed and filmed pretty well too.

Part of the reason I love this show so much is that I love how this show blends science fiction and horror together. The stories of those creatures and those kids is way cool. Some of you may ask me, who are my favorite characters of the show? Well Eleven, of course, who is played by the great young actress Millie Bobby Brown. That character is so badass and so entertaining as hell. I also like Winona Ryder’s character who plays Joyce and she is the mother of characters Will and Jonathan. I also like Dustin and Billy Hargrove.

Another reason I like this show so much is like everyone else, it reminds me of so much like the late 80’s and early 90’s which the show is taken place at during those years. That was back in the days when there was no internet, no cell phones, back when shopping malls were a thing, we had to use pay phones, no such thing as flat screen TVs back then and those were the days when kids actually had to go outside and do things. I know this ’cause I lived my childhood through those years too.

Anyhow, “Stranger Things 3” was a really mind blowing season. It was great all the way through. Excellent storytelling, I can see why it’s the most popular show on Netflix and I’m finally getting into the show so now I’m all caught up.

Now I’m all caught up with “Stranger Things”, I’m going to have to pick a different show to watch on there. I’m thinking of starting “Designated Survivor” with Kiefer Sutherland ’cause I’m hearing great things about that show and I’m probably gonna start it next week.

I’m back on Netflix ’cause I wanted to be back in time before “The Dark Crystal” show gets on there ’cause I love the Dark Crystal and can’t wait for that show too. I also went back on Netflix for other shows that I wanted to watch on there too.

Why I think the WWE is struggling to get viewers… they no longer have top iconic superstars anymore… that’s the problem…

So why is the WWE still struggling in the ratings and why they are having a hard time trying to get their audience back? Is it because of the product? Is it because of the bad writing and bad booking of matches? Is it because of the WWE’s PG rating? I would think the answer is yes to all those… they are all a small part of why the WWE is struggling. I think the BIG reason why WWE is struggling currently is ’cause the company has no star power anymore.

What do I mean by star power? In the 80’s, you had guys like Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, Macho Man Randy Savage, Jake the Snake Roberts, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Bret the Hitman Hart, etc. The list is endless.

In the 90’s and early 2000’s years you had Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, John Cena and The Rock.

All those guys I listed above are all big name stars which is why fans turned on the TV to watch wrestling on a weekly basis. Those names were all pretty huge draws especially Stone Cold and the Rock. When those guys were around WWE back in the day, the ratings were sky rocketing high.

I think the reason WWE is still having problems is ’cause they’re having problems trying to find that top guy again. They want that huge recognizable icon in today’s roster with all the up and coming superstars that you see today. The WWE already tried to make Roman Reigns the next top guy but it isn’t working. They tried that with Ronda Rousey but it didn’t work. They’re trying that with Becky Lynch and it seems not many care either. So what the fuck is going on? Braun Strowman has the potential to be that top guy in wrestling but the WWE isn’t even using him right.

That’s the WWE’s problem, do you get what I’m saying? They still can’t find that top star now ’cause all the big names I listed above are no longer a part of the wrestling business anymore ’cause most of them retired and moved on.

I love wrestling and the industry changes all the freakin’ time. It’s pretty amazing really. Nowadays, there are only very few iconic stars in wrestling who are still around… Randy Orton is still around, Triple H and the Undertaker only performs occasionally. That’s about all we got.

Everyone wants to see Becky Lynch as the new Stone Cold of the women’s division but they could get there if they use her right and I’m a huge fan of Becky Lynch too. That’s another problem with the WWE ’cause they don’t know how to use their superstars right anymore.

I miss the old days when wrestling used to be great. They are trying to get better now and they are slowly improving but it’s going to take some time for WWE to get back on top again. I’d love to see WWE become a successful company again like they once were. I want to see WWE get better myself ’cause I’m a lifelong wrestling nerd and quite proud of it.

Happy birthday to Sylvester Stallone!!!

Today is Sly’s birthday. As some of you know, I’m a lifelong fan of the man. Looked up to him ever since I was a child ’cause I was a huge Rocky fan when I was a child. Then the Rambo movies came and I was a huge fan of those. Still am a huge Rambo fan. I’ve seen most of Sly’s movies over the years. The only movies I haven’t seen of Sly were: “Reach Me”, “Backtrace”, “Escape Plan II” and “Escape Plan: The Extractors”. I’m gonna get around to those soon but I try to see everything he’s in even if the film isn’t good.

I am definitely looking forward to “Rambo: Last Blood” and can’t freakin’ wait.

I remember in the past, though, that people hated on Sly. That was back in the days when his career was in a slump, though. People didn’t think he would turn his career around again but look at him now. He’s a box office star again.

People laughed at him when he said he wanted Rocky 6 to happen “Rocky Balboa” (2006), I’ll never forget it. People in the media criticized Sly for wanting to bring back Rocky ’cause of Sly’s age and now look at him. Sly made three more Rocky movies since Rocky V… “Rocky Balboa”, “Creed” and “Creed II”. He definitely proved the haters wrong and I admire the man so much for that. Now everyone respects Sly again and haven’t seen anything negative said about the man in a long while.

People used to make fun of me for liking so Sly so much but I’m a huge fan, I don’t care what people say. I hate most celebrities but Sly is one exception. In real life, Sly seems like a good guy. He doesn’t carry around all this fame stuff like most celebrities do, he’s humble and he’s just a normal guy like all of us.

The man works really hard to entertain us. Some may not thinks so but Sly takes his work very seriously. He always tries to make the best movie possible. Making movies isn’t about the money for him either. He makes movies ’cause he loves it and that’s what he does.

Can’t wait for “Rambo: Last Blood” as I’m definitely gonna see it as soon as it comes out!

Kev

Gonna stop doing bent over barbell rows and will swap it with t-bar rows instead, I think…

For a long while now, I’ve been doing bent over barbell rows ’cause I’ve read that it’s the best workout to really help deadlift strength. I think I’m going to stop doing those for good simply ’cause I don’t feel safe doing them. I’m noticing that it’s messing up my left hip a little bit and hurting my left glute a little bit. Not sure why it is. Maybe my form was off a little bit and maybe you don’t need to lift superheavy weights on that one, I don’t know but I’m gonna stop doing bent over rows for something else. The pain wasn’t that bad and I’m completely okay now. I just don’t feel comfortable doing bent over rows for barbell and it’s not my favorite workout.

I think I’m going to swap it with t-bar rows ’cause they are better, I think. I haven’t done t-bar rows in a long while and I think I’m going to get back to it.

To lift really heavy deadlifts off the floor, you gotta have a really strong back all around. I’m trying to find back exercises that would help. I think the t-bar row will be better ’cause the t-bar row works your entire back… the bent over row for barbell only works your middle back and lats.

I’ll continue to do lat pull downs and seated cable rows ’cause they’ll be good to work the back. I’ve always done those two workouts.

If you want to have a big deadlift, you also got to work on your grip and I found that farmer’s walk will help grip strength. I’ve been doing farmer’s walk more and more.

The deadlift works the entire body so you also have to have pretty strong legs as well ’cause the deadlift is kind of like the leg press too. I’ve been doing exercises for the legs and all that. Getting back into using the leg press again, doing leg ext. and hamstring curl machines on leg days.

Working to get my 300 lb. deadlift back and doing all I can to get there but I want to get there without hurting myself with the other exercises so I’m going to ditch the bent over barbell row for something else.

When you want to get into powerlifting for the bench, squat and deadlift… you still gotta train like a bodybuilder on the other workouts. Even in powerlifting, you still gotta build muscle ’cause building muscle helps get you stronger too. Powerlifters will never admit that. They seem to focus on the big three only and I disagree. You can’t neglect the power of hypertrophy training ’cause I still do that.

Back to the bent over row, I’m just not a big fan of that anymore and swapping that with the t-bar row sounds good to me. I’m hoping to get my 300 lb. deadlift back in time before the Aug. 30th push/pull meet in Albany and I want to be completely injury free at this one.

I’m hoping to do 300 lbs. for more reps this year if I’m lucky enough and I will get there. Just gotta stay consistent. Losing my 300 lb. deadlift was my fault, though. The reason that happened is ’cause I stopped the heavy deadlifting too early before a powerlifting meet and I’ll never do that again. I’ll get it back soon enough. Just you wait.

I’ve also saw a video on youtube where a guy says you shouldn’t have to worry about de-loading after 4 – 6 weeks when strength training. This youtuber says the only time you should take a week off of strength training is when you get injured or get sick. You don’t de-load or take a week break too often at all. If you want to get strong and stay strong, gotta stay consistent on a weekly basis. I think de-loading will make you weaker and I’ll have a post on that soon.

I love powerlifting. I gotta do it right and do it smart.

Sylvester Stallone announced on instagram that he finally started work on “Expendables 4″…

Sly just announced on his instagram page that he just started writing the script for “Expendables 4”. Ever since the third one, there have been talks that Sly won’t be returning to the fourth film due to disagreements with the script but it turns out that Sly is definitely down for starring in the film again as confirmed by the man himself.

So will “Expendables 4” be Sly’s next film after “Rambo: Last Blood”? Probably. Sly says this is gonna be the last Expendables movie and he isn’t getting any younger so it’s a good time to get it out of the way.

As you all know, the whole goal of the Expendables franchise is to have a bunch of iconic action stars to star in one big action movie together. So far the Expendables franchise had just about every big name star you can think of but there are still a handful that Sly hasn’t had yet.

Terry Crews won’t be back due to all that sexual misconduct stuff but I’m sure we’ll see some cast members back from the first three films: Jason Statham, Dolph, Jet Li and Randy Couture will all probably be back ’cause they are the main characters. I’m sure we’ll see some additional Expendables and more villain characters.

Doing a little digging, I heard that Pierce Brosnan is gonna have a role maybe and Sly wants Jack Nicholson to be the villain.

I’m sure we’ll definitely see a lot more iconic stars in the film and I would like see:

  • Tom Cruise
  • Nicholas Cage
  • Kurt Russell
  • Dwayne Johnson
  • Liam Neeson
  • Al Pacino
  • Vin Diesel
  • Dave Bautista
  • Chris Hemsworth
  • Jason Momoa

Any of them would be pretty cool additions, in my opinion.

I’m a huge fan of the Expendables films. I loved them all even the third one was good. Even though the third one was PG-13, it was still entertaining as hell, in my opinion.

Kev

Hope you all had a great and safe 4th of July yesterday…

I was meaning to post yesterday but was busy doing other things for July 4th. Hope you all had a great and safe July 4th yesterday.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, there’s going to be a lot of American leftist haters but you just gotta to ignore them and keep loving America ’cause they hate that. I’ll never stop loving America no matter what anyone says or thinks.

Ya know, it’s funny that when I show my support for Trump and help defend him, people always accuse me of going “political”. Um, excuse me… there is nothing political about loving your country and putting your country first! Lefties are the ones who get political with their bullshit.

Yeah, lefties are getting worse and they’re getting even more aggressive but ignore them and keep supporting Trump. I did watch some of the Trump July 4th party on TV… only watched some of the replay last night. I spent most of the day yesterday spending time with family mostly. Plus, I went to the gym early in the morning on July 4th for back day and did some heavy deadlifting so I wasn’t bored.

It was a great July 4th for me and hope you all had a good one too.
