Report: Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are re-teaming for Warner Bros…but for producing…

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are re-teaming for Hollywood again after all these years. Warner Bros. is in negotiations with the two stars for a first look producing deal. For now, Ben and Matt will only be producing. No word if they’ll star in together or write a film together as they did for “Good Will Hunting”, but who knows. Maybe they will star/write a film together for Warner Bros. I hope so, ’cause I really liked, “Good Will Hunting” a lot!

Report: Sharona Alperin speaks on the death of Doug Fieger…

Sharona Alperin, the woman which Doug Fieger wrote a song about her titled, “My Sharona” for the Knack speaks out on his death. Doug was inspired to write the song for her when he first met her when they were teenagers. He fell in love with her and had a huge crush, which made him write a song about her. The song obviously became a memorable hit and still being played on the radio to this day. I can understand how Doug would fall in love with a woman like that ’cause she’s got quite the rack there with this photo.

Report: Jay-Z slams the “We Are the World” remake…

Rapper Jay-Z spoke out his thoughts on the Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, and Quincy Jones remake of “We Are the World 25th”. He says the original is untouchable and should have never been remade. He compares it to Michael Jackson’s other hit, “Thriller”. What he’s saying there is, “We Are the World” is like an anthem for Michael Jackson, kind of like, “Thriller”. Jay-Z also says it would have been better if they wrote an original song for Haiti instead of remaking a Michael Jackson tune.

I’m no fan of Jay-Z’s music but I’ll have to say, he has a point. I agree with him. I was honestly disgusted when they decided to remake it. It was obvious that Lionel wanted to give celebrities and other music stars an opportunity to sing on a Michael Jackson tune. The remake sucks hard and I’ll always stand by it. Even Jay-Z knows it sucks.

I have been digging the band, Slayer…

I’ve never listened to the iconic metal band, Slayer before. After reading online posts from the metal community and reading a lot of articles about Slayer through Guitar World mag, I was curious to hear their latest album, “World Painted Blood”. I downloaded, “World Painted Blood” album from Itunes. To my surprise I couldn’t stop listening to it all weekend. It’s, indeed, some of the best metal I ever heard. Very good songwriting and good musicianship. The guitar playing on the disc is a powerhouse and the vocals were fun. It makes me want to hear Slayer’s older music.

Some of you may not see it, but yes, I am a metal fan. I like to listen to the genre. You may not see me with long hair, tattoos, pierces, ripped up clothes and wearing old jackets, but I don’t need to look “metal” just listen to it.

I was really impressed with “World Painted Blood”. I have always been a fan of heavy music since I was a kid. I don’t think I’ll ever play this genre myself in a band, but I just listen to metal for fun. It’s inspiring music. Other than Megadeth, Metallica, The Sword, Lamb of God, you can now add Slayer to that list of my favorite metal bands. I’m hoping to see the “American Carnage Tour” concert with Slayer, Megadeth and Testament at the Civic Center in Glens Falls in Aug, plan to order tickets soon.

Report: Stallone and Mark Wahlberg planning film together?

Sly and actor Mark Wahlberg had lunch together in Beverly Hills. Mark brought along his son so he can hang out with Sly too. Sly showed off one of his hot new cars to Mark and his kid before entering the restaurant. Is this the reason that Sly and Mark are spending time together ’cause they are planning a film? Marky Mark to co-star in Rambo V? Or a different movie they are planning?

I will probably start an electric guitar collection…

Now keep in mind, even if I bought my first electric guitar, the Ibanez ArtCore Hollow Body, I plan to buy more electric guitars in the future, so I can have different sounds. A lot of guitarists out there do have a guitar collection, just to have a variety of sounds. I’m thinking of buying like, one guitar a year or something. Don’t know. This won’t be the only guitar I’ll be owning in the future.

I vow to get better at this instrument and become a little more profesional. I won’t go for guitar lessons with a profesional teacher, I’m still gonna teach myself. Get back into studying guitar instructional material. I’ve started learning new scales and getting back into learning how to improvise better. I’ve recently learned the major blues scale, the five patterns up and down the neck. I just want to learn other scales besides playing the same old minor pentatonic scale. I want to get better at this instrument so I can be able to do like 10 or 20 minute jam improvs. I want to play solos like all the guitar heros I looked after. I will still sing and write songs, yes, and will play lead solos all at the same time. Kind of like what Dave Mustaine and Eric Clapton does.

I’ve been spending most of my time on electric now and it’s feeling really awesome!

RIP: Doug Fieger 1952 – 2010

If you want some sad news for Valentine’s Day, here it is. Doug Fieger, guitarist and leading frontman of the ’80’s hit new wave band, The Knack, died of cancer in Woodland Hills, California after battling both brain and lung cancer for quite a long time.

This is pretty devastating news for me, ’cause as a lover of rock n’ roll music, I grew up listening to the Knack. Their record “Get the Knack” was really amazing stuff and I remember playing the hell out of that vinyl when I was a kid, used to play it all the time and still love it. I always thought the Knack were true rock n’ roll legends that had something going in the 80’s.

Also, remember The Knack is responsible for making “Weird” Al Yankovic famous. “My Sharona” was Al Yankovic’s first parody which was re-written for “My Bologna” for the Dr. Demento show. Al Yankovic’s “My Bologna” took the world by storm which made Al become the King of Parodies since then. I’m sure Al Yankovic is devastated by this news too.

RIP Doug, you maybe gone but your amazing music will still go on.

Report: “Cop Out” director, Kevin Smith, kicked off of Southwest airplane for being too big…

A lot of men say they usually don’t have a great Valentine’s Day. Well you can add iconic comedy director, Kevin Smith to the list. The “Clerks”, “Dogma” and “Chasing Amy”, director Kevin Smith certainly isn’t having a good V-Day today ’cause he’s been spending too much time on twitter being on a warpath against Southwest Airliner airports. He was aboard the plane and was seated, then the Captain of the plane kicked him off because of his size. Simply too overweight to fly, according to the Captain.

Kevin Smith has been writing attacks to Southwest Air on twitter. Spending some time joking around with his followers making fun of the Southwest Air.

In this article, the Southwest Air says they read every tweet Kevin Smith have been sending to them.

More on it here:

See Kevin Smith’s official twitter page here:

That’s ridiculous. I hope Kevin decides to sue Southwest Air! Kevin is a big guy, but NOT that big. I personally think the only reason he was kicked off ’cause the Captain was jealous of his fame.
