Brock’s Top Ten Live Albums of All Time…

I like listening to music live in concert a lot more than studio albums because with live music, it feels real. Songs sound different at every show, different improvising skills, they play the songs much longer live than in the studio, tighter guitar playing, etc. Most people don’t like to listen to live albums but like to listen to studio more. I like the other way around.

Brock’s Top Ten Favorite Live Music Albums are here, with no explanations, I just love these records:

  1. Led Zeppelin – “How the West Was Won”
  2. Jimi Hendrix – “Live a the Filmore East” (2 disc set)
  3. Johnny Cash – “Live at Folsom Prison”
  4. Eric Clapton – “MTV Unplugged”
  5. David Bowie – “Bowie at the Beeb”
  6. The Clash – “Live at Shea Stadium”
  7. Metallica – “S&M”
  8. Lou Reed – “Perfect Night – Live In London”
  9. Nirvana – “MTV Unplugged In New York”
  10.  The Grateful Dead – “Dozing At the Knick”

If he’s the next one to hit the grave, that would be sad. He’s a talented actor. Wish him well and speedy recovery.

Actress turned film director, Drew Barrymore, celebrated the release of her directorial debut, “Whip It” premiered in Los Angeles. As you can see here, Drew got a surprise visit by a longtime friend, and that is Steven Spielberg. The man responsible for making her famous.

As you all know, Drew Barrymore was born into Hollywood. Drew’s been acting in films ever since she was a little baby. Since she’s been doing films her whole life, this is how she is able to learn how to direct movies on her own. She is finally directing her own films.

Spielberg still has love for Drew as you can see here. He’s a good man to come out to support her film. Glad to see the two together again!

Report: Jessica Alba to join “Meet the Parents 3”???

The young Hollywood actress hottie, Jessica Alba, is in talks to join the third installment of the “Meet the Parents” comedy series. She’ll be joining the cast of Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Robert Deniro, and more.

Variety Reports:

I hope they are done casting now ’cause I want them to start working on this film asap. I fucking love the Meet the Parents series. I love both of them. “Meet the Fockers” was really great ’cause it was amazing seeing Dustin Hoffman and Robert Deniro playing in the same movie together.

I’m sure they won’t dissapoint with this new one. These are great films.

While I mostly like to watch drama, horror, and action flicks, sometimes I like to watch a good comedy every now and then.

Thought: Michael Jackson and Roman Polanski…

Michael Jackson was cleared of all charges that he was accused of sleeping with a young boy, even though MJ was proved innocent, people still called him a pedophile.

Roman Polanski plead guilty and admitted to everything back for his incident with Samantha Geimer back in 1977. Now people are defending this asshole and Polanski gets a free pass?

This just shows how fucked this world is and how this world is so fuckin’ hung up on celebrity gossip and obsessed with it.

Thought: LL Cool J in the Hall of Fame, wtf? How did he get a nomination? Well here’s your answer…

The internet is of course, pissed off, ’cause the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gave another rap artist a nomination when it is not rock. Yes, it’s true, rap isn’t really rock…but how do these rap artists like Run DMC and LL Cool J are making the Hall of Fame?

First read this:

http://www.rockhall.com/inductees/induction-process/

Then read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LL_Cool_J

So how does LL Cool J get a nomination?

Well according to his wikipedia history, LL Cool was a disc jockey when he first started out in his career.

Reading the induction process on how they nominate artists, they also nominate “disc jockeys”.

So any rap artist that is a disc jockey and if they have a first hit single for 25 years, they are eligible for a nomination.

I guess that’s how Run-DMC made it in ’cause they were disc jockeys too.

So before you start slamming the Hall of Fame because of the rap music being inducted, I’d suggest you do your research. This just shows that people are uneducated with music since they are angry at the Hall of Fame for having a variety of genres. Remember, all genres is the roots of rock n’ roll.

Thought: Al Sharpton on RAW last night…

Since last night’s RAW was in Albany, N.Y. at the Times Union Center last night, I wanted to blog about it. I didn’t go to the show, just saw it on TV. Rev. Al Sharpton was in town to start his education reform tour as to help promote it. So he agreed to do RAW to help start the tour.

I was expecting a very good heel performance by Al Sharpton, I was expecting a powerful speech, a bad guy wrestler type of speech that I was expecting him to do…but instead we get something different. We get a childlike and happy Al Sharpton, he was playful, it was something for the kids since WWE is now a PG rating so they basically want all celebrity guest hosts to be all childlike to be entertaining for the kids.

At the opening segment of RAW MVP and Mark Henry did their speech with Chris Jericho and the Big Show interupting. Chris Jericho came out to praise Al Sharpton’s work in politics. When Al Sharpton came out to the ring, Al made it seem like he was flattered by Chris’s comments. Then Al announced that Chris Jericho/Big show were going to have a tag team championship match against MVP/Mark Henry later on RAW.

At first, Al Sharpton was getting booed by the crowd when he came out…but when Al announced the tag team championship match, the whole crowd of Albany NY gave Al a strong cheer.

After Al’s speech with the wrestlers, Al did a couple of backstage segments before the commercials. One was Al teaching a wrestler education while Chavo Guerrero was chasing Hornswoggle around the office. The second backstage segment was Al singing “I Feel Good” by James Brown with a couple of WWE Divas.

That was it, that was all the screen time Al Sharpton had. It was an entertaining fun type of thing, Al didn’t get into any physical action or nothing like that.

Al did a good job on the mic but I was hoping for something more.

WWE has gotten so childlike ’cause of the PG rating. I actually don’t mind the PG rating, I just want the celebrity hosting thing to get over with ’cause it’s lame.

Remember, WWE started off a PG rating when they first started in the 80’s, when Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Macho Man, etc were all around back in the old days. WWE is going for the return of the 80’s style, that is the point of going PG so they can get more children to watch WWE like they did in the 80’s.

On last night’s RAW, for example, DX, Triple H and Shawn Michaels were talking trash at Legacy, Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr. In the early 90’s when it used to be PG-13, wrestlers used to talk about getting angry by using the word “pissed”, but since this is PG rating now, wrestlers can’t use that word anymore like they used to. Triple H was describing getting angry by using the Incredible Hulk as an example.

It actually wasn’t a bad RAW last night, it was pretty good. I just wish WWE did more with Al Sharpton, because he would have a better performance if he did more than just promote education reform.

To those that defend Roman Polanski is a total loser…

I can’t believe how many people online and in the news media are defending this guy! Just goes to show that so many people are living in a delusional fantasy world that are obsessed with celebrities and famous people.

I read a lot of things about how Samantha Geimer forgave Polanski and wanted charges dropped, people are saying this happened a long time ago, move on, and free Polanski. I just shake my head and say, “What the fuck?” to all off this!

What is wrong with people’s heads? Having sex with minors is ILLEGAL in the United States. Polanski knew what he was doing, he pleaded guilty the first time, and admitted to it. Now he thinks he’s above the law because of his fame and power.

I’m sure Polanski’s supporters know that having sex with minors is wrong. The reason his supporters defend him because he is one of the world’s famous film director, an icon in the film industry. They can’t lose the opportunity working with him in film. He’s made a few great movies that I even liked, films like “Rosemary’s Baby” and “Chinatown”. “Frantic” with Harrison Ford was also a great film.

I have a feeling that Polanski will get freed and never return to the US to serve prison time because with money and power, will do it. Polanski may seem like a happy guy, living his everyday life like a real person, but he will always be a selfish ego driven asshole.

People defending this coward is disturbing. They are probably a loser like him. Polanski’s film career should have been boycotted and he should have been banned from making films a long time ago. I will never support his work again.

“Paranormal Activity” doesn’t look all that scary to me…

I’ve watched horror films my entire life. So, I never really get scared at all watching these kind of movies ’cause it’s my favorite genre in the movie business.

This flick, “Paranormal Activity” is a ghost flick, I think, and it’s getting a strong buzz on the internet even though this film is being played in selected theaters in the states.

I saw the trailer and to me, it looks pretty lame.

I’m never scared at horror and dark things. I’ve read plenty of horror novels, seen plenty of horror films, I just have a strong fascination with things that is evil and scary.

This flick looks nothing new to other horror flicks out there. I’ll probably wait on DVD on this one.
