AMC confirms Merle Dixon will return to, “Walking Dead – Season 3″…

Well, it’s no surprise that Merle Dixon is still alive in the, “Walking Dead”. I figure he escaped from the rooftop and found his way out alive by cutting his own hand off. It’s not a spoiler, ’cause I’m sure everyone knew it too. While I’m glad Merle is returning for Season 3, I hope he will appear in more episodes. In Season 1, he only appeared for two episodes, and Season 2, he only appeared for one. I hope Merle will be in most episodes for “Season 3”. “Season 3” is gonna be great, Michonne and the Governor also.

Could Tyrese get introduced at some point, here?

Get your first look at Merle for Season 3, here.

Thought: Sorry, but there are other guys more deserving for the UFC Hall of Fame than Tito Ortiz *yawn*…

I can’t believe they’re doing this but yeah, they’re doing it. Dana White, announced he is officially inducting UFC icon, Tito Ortiz, into the UFC Hall of Fame. I do know that the UFC Hall of Fame isn’t that big yet, they only have 8 inductees so far. I don’t like the idea of adding Tito to the Hall of Fame and I’m sure everyone else feels the same way. As the title of this topic says, there are other guys more deserving.

What about BJ Penn, Anderson Silva, George St. Pierre, Mirko Cro Cop, Frank Mir, Quinton Rampage Jackson, Forrest Griffin, etc.????

Tito is not a very good fighter, never was, plus, the guy is an asshole as well. Yes, the guy is an icon and legend, but he is a woman beater who don’t deserve to be rewarded like this. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. I’m sure this angered a lot of UFC fans.

I haven’t been watching UFC ppv’s anymore. I still love the fights, would love to watch them still but the ppv’s are too fucking expensive. I had to stop watching them for that reason. I stopped watching UFC ever since the last Brock Lesnar fight.

I think George W. Bush’s head on a stake in “Game of Thrones” is hilarious, but it should have been Obama instead…

Oh my, how come I didn’t notice that? I’m sure nobody did. I didn’t even listen to the DVD commentary when he said it, and now it makes me want to. HBO, then, admitted they were wrong, and out of line, so they apologized.

See the article, here.

No need to apologize for this. I think it’s pretty funny and everyone else would too! That’s karma for being a bad president!

Report: “Man of Steel” footage will be shown by Zack Snyder at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, possible teaser trailer too???

Over the years at San Diego Comic Con, both Superman and Batman has never made appearances to do some marketing for the yearly film conventions. Well this year, Superman will finally be at SDCC, while Batman continues to not want anything to do with it. Look like Zack Snyder got the permission by Christopher Nolan and WB’s to do it. Yes, Snyder will be there to show footage from the film, “Man of Steel“. Will the teaser trailer be revealed as well?

At the Superman, “Man of Steel” panel at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo, they showed the Superman, Jor-El, and Faora costumes out on display. See the pics, here.

I’m not sure why Warner Bros. is still NOT letting us see what Michael Shannon looks like as General Zod, yet? Maybe they’re saving that for SDCC. Hope so. I’m dying to see what the new General Zod looks like.

I’m still praying that “Man of Steel” will be a really good movie. I know Zack Snyder is not everyone’s favorite director, and I know he’s controversial with his “slo mo” scenes, but I truly believe he has what it takes to make an amazing Superman movie. I’m hoping “Man of Steel” will be an action packed ride, it probably will be from the looks of things. I’ve seen some of the Behind the scenes photos that were leaked to the web.

Can’t wait to see a trailer. The trailer should be out later this summer. Hopefully it’ll be a good teaser, and not just the S symbol on the screen.

What is wrong with Frank Palangi???

This musician named, Frank Palangi, is getting so much hate online lately. I may have already seen him perform once before in Glens Falls, but he was performing with a couple of other people as a special guest. I might of already met Frank Palangi, once in person as well.

The reason some of the Glens Falls musicians don’t like him is because, they don’t like how he promotes himself as a “mainstream” artist, but in his defense, he doesn’t see himself as a “mainstream” artist, it’s just his dream to get there. He’s just doing whatever it takes to get there. He wants to break into the major label industry, as you can clearly see. He knows he’s not a “rock star” yet, but that’s his goal. That’s why he’s being wrongfully accused of being a rock star ego-maniac, but I don’t see it.

Listen to his tunes. And check out his videos in youtube. You would see that he’s a great songwriter and a good live performer.

In my opinion, Frank, is doing the right things to get himself out there. I think he’s a good musician. I would like to open a show for him sometime. I’m sure he’ll be down for it. When your goal is to break into the big time, you have to look like a rock star, if you want to make it. End of story.

Being part of a local musicians community? Do you really feel the need to be a part of it? I say no…(read up, before you get mad)

There are plenty of musicians out there who mistakenly believe that you need to be a part of a local musicians community. You know, a whole group of musicians getting together to hang out, become friends, and play music together out in their local scene. You see the same group of musician friends online talking to each other everyday publicly. Why do musicians do this? I understand they do it to try and network with other musicians, so they can get themselves out there, but the reality is, a lot of them just want to feel accepted as a musician. They just want to feel part of the crowd, ya know? I am noticing that a lot of these musicians don’t have much going on in their lives so they try to become a part of a music “community”, so they can feel alive.

When you want to become a musician, you don’t really need to be a part of anything. That’s right, you don’t need to be a part of any so called, “music community”. I try my best to not be a part of the music community anymore, why? Because there’s so much drama going around. I’ve been stabbed in the back by so many musicians in the past, it’s crazy.

You see, the local music, “scene” is a public place. A public area, which gives you the freedom to do what you want to do and be who you want to be. You don’t need to make friends with other musicians. You must concentrate on you, and your music, that’s it. You shouldn’t be wasting so much time chatting with your musician buddies, when the important thing you should be doing the most, is spending hours on your instrument, honing your craft and getting your own music out there.

The whole “music community”, is a bit childish to begin with. Way too much, “I think this guy’s a jerk”, “I don’t like this (musician)” bullshit going around. Plus, all musicians seem to want to do is drink and party which is what I don’t do either. Too many people called me a “troll” over the years and I’m sure some still think of me of that way, but I don’t care. Like I said, “local music”, is a public place, and the internet is the real world. So people have no right to control who I am as a person. I can’t please every single person around here, that’s for sure. That’s not what I’m here for. That’s one of the biggest problems of the “music community” right there. They expect me to be like everyone else. There are tons of musicians out there that can be way more negative than me.

I’ll admit that I can be an asshole sometimes, but if I was all nice and friendly, then people wouldn’t pay attention. This is why I go on these rants and raves. I enjoy getting support from other musicians, don’t get me wrong. Music is the only thing you should be worrying about. Not worrying about who likes you or who hates you.

I haven’t posted much the last couple of days, ’cause having computer problems again, things seem to be working alright now.

When a local band or solo artist starts to become local media darlings…

Everyone wants to see their favorite local band or solo artist succeed in their careers and move forward. Thing is, people can get really weird when it comes to a local band or solo artist wanting to get more recognition. All bands and solo artists, start off from the bottom and make their way to the top. When you start to see bands and artists becoming local media darlings, (being obsessed with radio and website interviews, being on the covers of newspapers a lot, getting reviews by local critics, etc.), that often gets a mixed response by the public. Some will be happy with their success and some will not be. Some of the haters & doubters will accuse them of being sellouts, fakes, and egomaniacs wanting to be at the center of everyone’s attention. It usually sparks some controversy when a band or artist becomes successful and well known in your area.

Look, I do know, that it can be frustrating and annoying, that the local media can keep shoving the same bands & artists in our faces on a regular basis, but I understand why they do it. The only way to get recognition like that these days, is that you must have a very large following, and fanbase. It doesn’t matter how good or bad their music is. As long as that band or artist has a lot of people supporting them, the local media outlets will support them because it can help draw people to buy their newspapers, get more radio listeners or get more website hits. Popularity is key to getting that recognition.

When you start to get a mix of supporters, haters & doubters, that’s a clear sign that you’re going places with your music. That’s the thing that younger bands need to understand a little better. The younger bands seem to be becoming defensive of the mixed reactions when they become established musicians. It seems that more younger bands & artists are getting more recognition in local music than ever. Why? That’s probably because the power of the internet, makes that happen. Back in the early days when there were no internet in the 80’s or early 90’s, it was hard for young musicians to get success.

On top of all this, I never really believed in being a “local superstar”. If that’s what you guys out there want to see yourself as, that’s fine. I never believed in being the local rock star. I play music, ’cause I enjoy it, that’s it. Just a human being, enjoying life, and playing music for fun. I would not want to become a local media darling or don’t really care to. I don’t take myself seriously as a musician. I just do my thing. I’m happy for other musicians wanting to succeed, but music should be for the love and enjoyment of it. Just go out and play. There’s no such thing as a superstar or a legend around here.

Will Vince McMahon fire John Laurinaitis storywise??? I think no, and here is my prediction…

I didn’t watch last night’s 3 hour RAW, but I caught the last half hour of it when I got back home from the movies. I DVR’d last night’s RAW, and will watch the rest of it tonight. The current storyline is John Laurinaitis, who is a longtime WWE employee, he serves as the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, in real life behind the scenes of the company. Well, he has now been performing on WWE TV for the past couple of months. He’s the General Manager for both RAW & Smackdown for WWE TV. His on TV character is described as a power hungry boss much like Vince McMahon, but a little different. The babyface fans and the superstars both want Laurinaitis to be off of WWE TV because people think he’s a boring character. He’s supposed to be a “heel”, which is what he is. John L., used to be a professional wrestler himself in his younger years, he used to go under the name of, “Johnny Ace“.

Cena has been trying to do whatever it takes to get Johnny L. off of WWE TV. This is all just a storyline, I know. I’m just explaining what’s going on. Vince McMahon returns to WWE TV last night, and there was a lot of speculation that McMahon was going to fire Johnny L. off of TV “storywise”. At the end of RAW last night, McMahon made the announcement that if Big Show loses the steel cage match against Cena at this Sunday’s, “No Way Out” PPV, he will fire Johnny L. then. So does that mean if Cena wins the match (which he probably will), Johnny L. keeps the job? Sounds like it.

My prediction on how this is going to go down, I don’t think Johnny L. will get fired. This will be McMahon’s attempt to get after John Cena. I think there’s another major Cena vs. McMahon feud on the way. I know Vince McMahon’s on TV character quite well. He has always been sick and twisted, mean, and evil. I don’t think he’ll fire Johnny L. to make the fans happy. Vince has never been that type of character. He’s always been unpredictable. I think Vince is about to do something big to get heel heat again.

I agree it will be cool to see McMahon get in someone’s face and growl, “You’re FIIIIRREEDDDDddd….” like he’s most famous for, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.

On top of all this, I find Johnny L., a great performer. I think he’s one of the best heel General Manager’s in a long while. He’s great on the mic, just my opinion. As I said, I like the heels more (badguys) ’cause they’re more interesting than the good guys. I think part of this feud is building up for another Brock Lesnar return, he’s been off of WWE TV for the past couple of weeks. In real life, Brock’s deal with WWE isn’t that long, so he’s not going to be on WWE TV a lot. Just occasional appearances, like the Rock.

Film Review: Prometheus

Starring: Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace
Directed by: Ridley Scott

So last night, I finally got around to checking out, “Prometheus” in theater. I actually went with 4 other people instead of going to the movies alone this time.

Here is my review:

Plot/synopsis: A team of scientists journey through the universe on the spaceship “Prometheus” on a voyage to investigate Alien life forms. The team of scientists becomes stranded on an Alien world, and as they struggle to survive it becomes clear that the horrors they experience are not just a threat to themselves, but to all of mankind.

If you’re planning to see this film and expecting this film that will have something to do with the earlier, “Alien” films, then you’ll be pretty disappointed. In early 2000, Ridley Scott originally planned this movie to be a “prequel”, of the first “Alien” movie, but due to the “Alien Vs. Predator” movie just started development, Ridley had to scrap the project. Later on in the years, Ridley picked up interest in this so called, Alien “Prequel”, and decided to make it a totally different film. That’s when Ridley decided to hire Damon Lindelof, to re-write the script.

I saw the film last night, and immediately noticed, the whole movie had nothing to do with the Alien franchise. Yes, “Prometheus” does, have aliens in the film, of course, but they are different forms of aliens. You will not see any of the original aliens from the Sigourney Weaver films. They call the film, “Prometheus”, for a reason. If the film was about the other Alien movies, then the title would have had, “Alien” in it.

This film is getting mixed reviews from critics and movie fans. Some say the script was badly written, but I didn’t think so. I thought the writing was perfect. It was intelligent and insightful. I can understand that “Science Fiction” can sometimes confuse people. I would also say that this film was true science fiction. Watching this film made me think of science fiction writers, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Orson Scott Card, and others. While, this film is science fiction, there is also some reality to this film as well.

The film wants to question us of why us humans were made. Why are we living here on this Earth? Where did we come from originally? That’s the main focus of the film. The film is about archaeologist, Elizabeth Shaw, trying to save humans from going extinct. Where did the word, “Prometheus” originally come from? It was a Greek mythology story, probably where, Ridley inspired the film from. It’s not just science fiction, the film will give you a bit of a history lesson as well.

Of course, I was very impressed with the visuals and special effects of the movie. I’m usually not that impressed with visuals and special effects of movies, ’cause most of that stuff looks cartoonish and silly to me. The visual and special effects in “Prometheus”, just blew me away. I liked the casting of the film. I thought, Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace, did a great job, but I was most impressed with Michael Fassbender, who played David the Android. That was some brilliant acting by Fassbender, and I think he should get an Oscar nomination for that role.

The entire movie was entertaining. I wasn’t bored, the story kept you hooked all the way through. Yes, there are action scenes. You will also see some scary scenes and get a few jumpy scenes. You will also get some gross out scenes just like the earlier Alien films. I was very impressed with, “Prometheus”, and so far, it’s the best film of 2012, other than, “The Avengers”. It really is nice to see people interested in science fiction again. I’m hoping “Prometheus” will help give the science fiction genre a huge comeback in Hollywood. I think Ridley Scott can help bring science fiction back in a huge way as he has plans of making a sequel to, “Blade Runner”, as well. “Prometheus” was a phenomenal film, I loved it, and the film works.

Score for “Prometheus” = (**** = 4 stars as in Excellent)

One way to earn respect in your music scene, is to support other musicians as much as possible…

There is too much bashing and hating going on, even to this day. It never ends. I know musicians wants to get respect for themselves as a person and as a musician. One way to get more respect, is to stop the hating and bashing of other musicians completely. Support them, even the successful and more established musicians. I understand you may not like other musicians but keeping your opinions to yourself is the best thing to do, on a professional level.

If you support other musicians, you will get support from them in return, trust me. I’ve supported too many musicians over the years. If you support other musicians, they will reward you stuff in return. Some will just simply give you respect in return. Some musicians will be willing to even become your friend. Some will offer you free CD’s. They will ask you to play on their gigs. They will also give you shout outs on their websites or social networking pages. Things like that, ya know. Some of you have seen me support a lot of musicians over the years, and I got some of the stuff I listed above, back from them. It does make you feel good.

Sure, there will be some bands & musicians that won’t even give you support in return no matter how much you try to support them. Some bands & musicians don’t even play music for the people, they do it for themselves. If you don’t get support from bands & musicians back, then never mind them and move along. Even if they ignored you, at least you did good for the music scene. Believe me, I’ve tried to support some bands and solo artists, the best I could, and they didn’t even care.

Supporting other musicians is key to getting respect around here, and a good way to get your own music out there. Treating other musicians how you like to be treated, is a good way for a positive music scene. It would be nice if this could be a more positive music scene though. There are too many negative musicians that want to rant and rave about everything. People blame it on the old crumbs board, but it’s not the internet. This is how people are.
