Report: Hans Zimmer, officially signed to score, “Man of Steel”, still doesn’t rule out the iconic John Williams theme though…

Well, Warner Bros. has finally announced the score composer for the upcoming new, Superman movie, “Man of Steel”. It’s no surprise that they were going to get Hans Zimmer, and most everyone predicted they were gonna get him anyway. Hans Zimmer scored for all three “Batman” films and, “Inception”, all Christopher Nolan directed flicks.

One thing to keep in mind though, this still doesn’t rule out the John Williams theme song. They’re still being tight-lipped on whether or not Warner Bros. is planning to use the iconic Superman original theme. Questions you have to ask. Will they ditch the original theme for good and create something new? Will Zimmer still use bits and pieces of the original theme and create a new version? Will they still use John Williams original track for the opening credits, and Zimmer will score the rest of the film?

Keep in mind guys, that the earlier Superman movies had different score composers. John Williams only scored the first Superman movie, “Superman: The Movie”. All the other Superman movies still used the original score, but they had different versions and styles of the theme. Is Hans Zimmer planning to do the same? I’m sure we’ll hear from him soon about the John Williams theme.

I still say that the original theme should be used for the movie. Why? Because there can’t be a Superman movie without it. James Bond has used it’s same theme song for years but they had different versions of the theme for every film. “Star Trek” used the same theme for every movie and TV episode, but used different versions and styles.

If Hans Zimmer snubs the John Williams theme completely, then people won’t get used to the Superman character. It may not sell as well in the box office. I’m sure, “Man of Steel”, will do well in the box office, but without the JW’s score, the Superman franchise may lose some of it’s fanbase. I still think they should use the score in some way. If Zimmer, decided to do something completely different, he’s never going to be able to top it and he will NEVER make it better than the original theme. Superman is pretty well known to have the JW’s theme ’cause the track is who Superman is.

There are still a lot of fans with mixed opinions on the theme song for, “Man of Steel”. Some do want the original theme and some want something totally new. I still support this theme song in the video below and can’t see a Superman movie without it.

Brock believes that Roger Clemens is still lying to Congress about not using steroids…

Some of you may wonder about my thoughts on this. I still believe Roger Clemens, is a flat out, ‘roid junkie. He walked out of the trial because money and power will do that. With a lot of money, and fame, you can pretty much get away with anything.

Another thing, I’m so fuckin’ tired of bodybuilders, wrestlers and movie stars with muscular physiques getting accused of using steroids. Pretty much most of your favorite sports athletes use ’em too. That goes for baseball stars, football stars, sometimes even hockey, basketball and the Olympics. How come other sports aren’t the badguys for using ’em?

That’s what so messed up about this world!

Making my personal facebook page even more strict…

Just recently, I have decided that from this point on I’m only going to add people I know in my personal facebook page. If I know someone personally, or know someone well, that’s when they’ll get accepted as a friend in my friends list count. I do this for a reason. Basically, the only reason is to keep all those friggin’ haters out. Some of these guys just add me for entertainment value, just to follow what I do for laughs, ya know? Honestly, I won’t tolerate that childish bullshit. I used to add people randomly but I can’t anymore. As you can tell I don’t play bullshit games with anybody, and that goes for musicians as well. I don’t need drama in my life which is why I do what I do.

If you’re a musician and have a personal facebook page, other than your music account, you don’t need to add random people in your personal facebook like so many musicians seem to be doing these days. Treat your page responsibly, so you can protect yourself as a person.

Then, of course, musicians with their own personal facebook page, won’t follow this advice. They’re gonna keep adding random people as many as they can, so they can make themselves look like a popular musician online.

Don’t blame the Rodney King death on drugs/alcohol yet…

As soon as the news hit that Rodney King has died, of course, like always, the internet immediately speculated that he could have died of drugs & alcohol. I don’t want to speculate anything either, but this is just, “my guess”. I’m looking more toward a suicide. My opinion, I think he might of killed himself. Yep, everyone wants to blame it on the drugs. Disrespectful, if you ask me.

The Rodney King story, is very sad though. He had a difficult life and I couldn’t imagine the pain and emotions he suffered after the LAPD beating. He had to live with that. I can understand why he had all kinds of problems after that.

The thing is, it’s very disrespectful, to speculate that drugs is what killed him. Seriously. Shame on you.

Speaking of Stephen King novels…

Here is a list of books that I need to get left ’til I complete his entire collection of work, I still need to get these on hardcover:

  • Carrie
  • Salem’s Lot
  • The Shining
  • Danse Macabre
  • Cujo
  • The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger
  • The Dark Tower II: Drawing Of Three
  • Thinner
  • The Regulators (Bachman)
  • Cell
  • Blockade Billy
  • Faithful
  • Night Shift

I believe that’s pretty much it! Yep, I pretty much own most of his entire collection of work. Why do I feel the need to own every book he has ever published? Well, no. 1, I want to appreciate him as his biggest fan. 2., Hardcovers will be something valuable sometime down the road, and they last longer than paperbacks.

Stephen really changed my life over the years with his writing. I started reading his books underage, when I was a teenager, and have been addicted to his writing ever since.

Of course, I like his classic novels more than his new stuff. His new stuff, he has been staying away from the horror genre. I like him better being the horror writer. I miss him writing horror novels, ya know? I think after his accident when he got hit by a van,  that was when he changed his style of writing. He kind of moved away from the horror genre after that. I do like his new stuff, but the best new books he has ever written were, “Under the Dome”, “11/22/63”, and “Lisey’s Story”.

Plus, I think all of the Dark Tower books are just amazing as well.

And no, I have never met Stephen himself in person yet, but I’m hoping I get lucky to meet him someday before he gets too old and die. I wouldn’t care to get an autograph or a photo with him, I just want to shake his hand and thank him for the inspiration.

Stephen King’s new upcoming novel, “Joyland”, sounds really good…

Some of you may know that I’m a really big Stephen King fan. I’m pretty much a die-hard fanatic, as a matter of fact. I’ve collected most of his books on hardcover over the years. Today at a book sale at the Public Library in Greenwich, I bought, “The Talisman” and “Misery” on hardcover to add to my growing collection. I love Stephen King’s work. He’s been such a huge inspiration to me my whole life, and have been reading his books ever since I was a kid.

King has another new book coming out, called, “Joyland”, and it’s not coming out until June of 2013.

Read the plot and details about the book, here.

Before I became a musician, I originally was a fiction writer myself. I gave it up, ’cause I thought I was no good at it. So since I started playing music back then, I thought it was pretty cool to tell fiction stories in song instead. Fiction writing was something I did back in high school.

I still have dreams in writing a novel someday though.

Report: Radiohead cancels Downsview Park concert in Toronto due to stage collapse, killing 1 and injuring a few others…

Radiohead, was schedule to perform at Downsview Park tonight in Toronto, Canada, but the band were forced to cancel the concert due to a stage collapsing, which killed one person and injured a few others. The band themselves made the announcement on facebook/twitter, saying fans who bought tickets will get refunds and fans were told not to travel to the show.

While I’m sure, this is angering a lot of Radiohead fans, the band did a good move here, so I’m siding with them. Human lives are more important than music, so Radiohead had no choice but to cancel the gig for good, ’cause it’s for the best. I mean, this could have been Radiohead performing on stage. What if Radiohead were rehearsing before the show? It could have happened to them instead. Plus, they had to cancel the show out of respect for the person that died. Radiohead is just being professional about this.

This is just even more proof that outdoor concerts can be very very dangerous. This is pretty tragic, and I’m sure the guys in Radiohead are scared themselves.

More on the story, here.

Brock rants about why local musicians are so crazy…

Over the years of local music, I have been wrongfully and unfairly criticized of how I am as a person and musician by other musicians around the music scene. I still get criticized by some even to this day, but I learn to ignore it and move along. When you see something like this, it just goes to show, that I’m not the badguy here. Now let me explain…

You see, musicians have really weird communication skills online. That’s a fact that we can’t deny. Musicians are absolutely crazy, out of their minds when they post in music forums and in social networking sites. A lot of them have mixed emotions. I know these guys want to have a public forum where they can talk about music in a positive way, but like always there will be a couple of bad guys coming around that will start ruining their shit. Then all this drama will start online with other musicians, and then the next thing you know, most everyone act like assholes, and then they’ll think you’re dumb or something. Whenever somebody wants to be honest about something and has a different opinion or view than everyone else, that’s when they’ll start hating on you. This stuff has been going on in local music forums for many years, which is partly responsible for shutting down the old GlensFallsRock and the old CRUMBS board down. I have been wrongfully blamed for creating so much wrath online. It’s nothing new. I’m used to it. It is not me that causes so much drama online, it’s the way musicians are posting on them.

Musicians claim they talk music in a positive attitude but a lot of them still think it’s alright to bash other musicians like myself and maybe a few others. This is why a lot of these guys have their own forums in Facebook ’cause anybody can be an administrator. They don’t have to get controlled by an administrator by a message board in a forum that has nothing to do with facebook. So they can get away with anything when you can be a self admin in Facebook.

People don’t like musician bashing around here? Well, when you guys go out of your way to hate musicians like myself, Frank Palangi or who ever. That is still “musician” bashing, no matter what you think of it. If you don’t like musician bashing, then you shouldn’t be doing it to other people, and that includes us.

So why is it that musicians are so weird? Where do the egos come from? Where does the attention whoring start? Why do musicians have such horrible attitudes at times? After thinking about all of this a while, it finally hit me. The craziness of musicians online, happens for a lot of reasons: 1. Stress 2. Alcohol could be a big part of it (too many musicians are alcoholics, trust me) 3. They get too overwhelmed with their work load in their own music careers (working too much will get to them) 4. They have bad things going on in their personal lives. The list goes on.

Things like this is why I try not to post in forums too much anymore. I try to stay out of things the best I can to worry about my own life and my own music, ya know? Musicians are not always lovable and wonderful like so many mistakenly believe. I’m not the badguy like some make me out to be. If you actually met me in person, you would find me approachable and easy to get along with . I won’t bite, people. I do treat others with respect if you treat people how you like to be treated.

Report: Paramount pushes back Ninja Turtles reboot to May of 2014…

Michael Bay’s planned, “Ninja Turltes” re-boot is being pushed back by Paramount Pictures to May of 2014, instead of the original release date of Dec. of next year. The reasons being, is the script. Maybe they just want to take their time with the script and make it good?

I love the Ninja Turtles, I just don’t like Michael Bay being in charge of this movie.

I haven’t been that impressed with Michael Bay’s movies over the years. I only like very few of them, although, I will admit, that the 3rd “Transformers” film, “Dark of the Moon” was actually really really good, so much improvement there. I just hope Bay doesn’t fuck up the Ninja Turtles.

I was a big Turtles fan as a kid. Used to read the comics, watch the cartoons, played their video games, saw all the original movies, etc. I hope they won’t make the Turtles CGI characters, which I have a feeling they will be anyway.
