Cool Video: Scooby posts a new video on protein shakes that I actually agree with!!!

Scooby just uploaded this video, and I’m surprised that I actually agree with it. When you get into bodybuilding, all bodybuilders immediately think they need to drink protein shakes, whey protein or any supplement. Bodybuilders think protein drinks of any kind will build them muscle quicker. Well it doesn’t really, that’s what the advertisements want you to believe.

There are a lot of dangerous chemicals in these things that they could mess up your kidneys or liver. They aren’t healthy as the ads claim. Plus, they’ll make you fat because of calories.

When I first started bodybuilding, I used to think it’s important to drink whey protein or shakes, but I don’t agree with it anymore. You can get the body of your dreams by taking in protein with real food. That’s what I’ve been doing lately. Getting my protein from real meals. That’s the way to go.

Plus, another reason to stop drinking protein drinks is because they are over priced. Every time you run out of the stuff, it’ll force you to buy more. It certainly got too expensive for me. Eating clean is the way to build muscle faster.

R.I.P.: Jane Russell 1921 – 2011

There have been a lot of iconic sex symbols over the years. Everyone from Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Anna Nicole Smith, Pam Anderson, Carmen Electra, etc., the list goes on. In my opinion, it was Jane Russell who is the true American sex symbol. She helped make, “sex” popular and mainstream in the 1940’s and 50’s. She was a film actress and a pinup model.

Her first film role was, “The Outlaw” which is a western film about Billy the Kid. It was the film that made her the sex symbol as the film’s goal was to show off the talent of her. She’s also famous for starring in, “The Paleface” with Bob Hope and “Gentlemen Prefers Blondes” with Marilyn Monroe.

Jane Russell died at her Santa Maria, California home due to respiratory-illness. Jane Russell was 89.

Thought: About last night’s Oscars…

Yes, I did watch the Oscars last night, of course. Like expected, it wasn’t all that surprising and too predictable. I do like the winner choices, the awards went to the right places and right people this time around.

I’ve seen all ten “Best Picture” nominations, the only movie I didn’t like was, “The Kids Are Alright” but the rest of them are really good.

I’m honestly glad, “The King’s Speech” won BEST PICTURE, because it is a really good movie. It may seem boring to some people, it’s not just a dramatic movie, they made it a fun film with humor too. I wish there were better hosts this year, James Franco and Anne Hathaway were both kind of boring. The only celebrity worth seeing that did the best speech, was the amazing Kirk Douglas. Kirk Douglas, was funny, I was laughing my ass off when he was on stage, that guy has a sense of humor, indeed. Kirk Douglas, is a legend and it was amazing that he got a standing ovation.

Other stuff that was funny on the Oscars were Melissa Leo, saying the F-Bomb during her acceptance speech and Justin Timberlake saying that he’s Bansky. Banksy is the anonymous street artist in the movie, “Exit Through the Gift Shop”. Timberlake is not Bansky, he was just joking obviously.

I thought Natalie Portman gave the best acceptance speech and glad that she won for “Black Swan”. “Black Swan” was a really good movie also and I’ll admit that Natalie was good in that role.

I was hoping that Christopher Nolan was going to win for “Best Original Screenplay” for “Inception” though but he got robbed of that too. When will Chris Nolan ever get an Oscar award for Beset Director/Screenwriter? It’ll happen for Chris, just hang in there. I want Chris himself to become an Oscar winner, he’ll get his chance someday.

It was an alright, awards show, not so bad.

See the winners here, if you missed it.

My next videoblog: Why I hate Hulk Hogan…

So Hulk Hogan is set to return to TNA Impact this Thursday. I hate Hulk Hogan. I once had so much respect for him but lost it a long time ago. Why do I hate Hogan? A lot of people seem to be hating him lately. I think it would be much easier to explain it all on video. I’ll have to warn you though, that fans of Hogan and TNA will not like that video, there will be a lot of Hogan bashing. I will make the video tomorrow. It needs to be done before Hogan’s return this Thursday. Yes, I watch TNA Impact on Thursday nights.

Thought: Why do so many people go to Scooby’s Workshop for fitness advice?

Yes, I’ll admit, that I still continue to watch Scooby’s videos, read posts on his facebook and his blog, all that stuff. Why? I don’t know why. Maybe for laughs, I guess. Scooby is the wrong person to go asking for fitness advice from. Why? If you ask him what are the best workouts to do for a certain body part or nutritional advice, all he’s going to do is come back with a negative response, thinking he’s, Mr. Know It All. He’s got that Mr. Know It All, attitude, thinking he’s better than you and he thinks he’s “right” all the time.

That squat video he just put out there is the perfect example of what I’m talking about. Everyone loves to do squats and he just bashed a popular workout that everyone loves. He’s going to keep going with that negativity. I don’t know why fans keep going after him like he some kind of fitness hero. He’s not. He’s a fraud and a phony. Just my opinion.

He doesn’t treat his fans and supporters, very good, in my opinion, and they all don’t realize it. People ask him about supplements and all that stuff, he’ll shoot all that down too.

The online world isn’t a place for fitness advice ’cause every fitness trainer online, have their own teaching method. Everyone is different. If you need fitness advice, learn locally, don’t do it online. I get my fitness information from books & magazines. I don’t go to Scooby or Scott Herman or any online fitness guru. I also get my fitness advice from other experienced fitness people around my area at local gyms, that’s a good start too. You can’t trust online trainers. You can’t believe everything they say. Online fitness guru’s are just out there to promote themselves.

Why improvisation/ear training, music theory is important…

Why should all guitar players learn improvisation/ear training and music theory? The answer is very simple. So you can be called, an actual “musician”. I’ve known plenty of bands and guitar players that aren’t good with this stuff, even though they claim they are good at it. There are too many guitar players that uses an electric tuner to tune with the electric guitar with. Tuning by ear is the way to go, in my opinion. Learning how to tune the guitar by ear, without a tuner is very easy. Not that hard as you think. All you gotta do is memorize the sound in your head by humming along to it or whatever. That’s what I’ve been practicing on, learning how to tune the guitar by ear because one day you’re going to need this.

There are also too many guitar players that uses chord charts and guitar tablature to play guitar on. The point of practicing ear training and improvisation is learning things without guitar tab. Being able to play what you hear on the guitar.

I know very few guitarists out there in this area who are actual “musicians” and can play just about everything they hear. The fact is that ear training and improv is the most under practiced skill of guitar players. Sad but true, think about it. I bet if you walk up to any guitar player, to talk about the 7 modes and how chords work, they won’t know what you’re talking about.

I’ve been accused of being an amateur guitarist many times and been called that I’m not a true musician. Well I got something to prove. I’m going to learn and get better, to prove everyone wrong that I will be an actual “musician”.

I’m seriously learning this stuff folks. Buying books from the store, reading about music online, and practicing on my guitar at home. You can tell in the newest audio tracks I’ve been posting lately that I’ve been getting better. It feels good to learn music again.

Report: Charlie Sheen is writing memoir, confirms deal with publisher already…

The controversial actor, Charlie Sheen, has said that he’s writing a memoir based on the “Two and a Half Men” fallout with creator, Chuck Lorre. Sheen recently bad mouthed Lorre publicly on the radio with the TMZ, and the rest of the season have been canceled because of his rant. Well, Sheen doesn’t plan on ending this feud anytime soon ’cause he plans on keeping it going with this book he’s writing. The book will be about the behind the scenes, of the sitcom, “Two and a Half Men”, it will lead up to where he’s at now with, Lorre.

It’s not known if it will be an autobiography, but this is all we know so far. Will it be about Charlie’s life? Will it be about his childhood, movie career, drugs, women, etc.? Maybe, don’t know.

Many would think Sheen is crazy, but he isn’t Mel Gibson or Lindsay Lohan. I don’t see how you can compare Sheen to Gibson or Lohan. It’s Gibson and Lohan that are insane. Sheen is completely harmless and innocent, yes, I’ve said that. Sure, Sheen may have personal problems, but Sheen is just like everyone else. He’s not perfect, we’re not perfect. He may like to party and he loves his porn stars, but hey, that’s his business, not ours.

I hope Charlie will get clean with drugs and become a better person, so he can get his career back on track. I think the point with Charlie’s memoir is that he wants to clear things up, save his character and get things off his chest. People may see him as a crazy guy and this fall out with Lorre, people will blame it on Charlie of course, but that’s why Charlie wants to write the book. To expose the greed and egos of the television business, behind the scenes. That’s his plan.

I’ll be interested in reading his book, and will buy it when it comes out.

Read the report here, at Deadline.

Edit to add: Btw, why do people find it a surprise that Charlie Sheen had a porn star addiction? He did that movie, “Rated X” with his brother Emilio, which is about porn movies. That’s not enough evidence that he could be a porn addict?

Finding the right workouts for pecs, I think I finally found ’em…

When you want a good all around muscular physique you need to workout every body part. I’ve been doing just that, except the only thing I’ve been having trouble with for the past year or so is trying to find ways to define my chest pecs more. I needed more work on the chest in the past, and I think I’ve finally found the right workouts that works the chest hard. Lately, I’ve been feeling my chest getting a little bigger and growing because of these workouts…

-dumb bell flies (decline or regular bench)

-cable cross over

-bench press on the Smith machine

-Various pushups

I will continue to do those. My pecs are finally getting results and shaping up a little I think. I’ll show y’all, soon so you can be the judge.

I used to disagree with bench pressing but I guess I’ll have a change of heart with it and do it more often. I don’t do those workouts every single week though ’cause that would be over training. I just do different chest workouts each week.

I may not look like a professional wrestler or an action movie star, yet, but I’m doing the best I can to improve them. I need bigger pecs so my physique can look right. I just do 3 sets to 12 reps each, and only take 30 second rest in between. I also find that useful to building muscle quicker. You want better results? Don’t rest too long in between sets. That’s how I always trained. Not resting too long in between sets, then I’m back to work.
