The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #16: Rosemary’s Baby

I haven’t seen much of Roman Polanski’s work, other than films like, “Chinatown”, “The Pianist”, “The Ninth Gate”, but I think “Rosemary’s Baby” was his best flick. Mia Farrow’s role in this movie was pretty amazing stuff. It’s also a pretty creepy as hell film. It’s about a couple who move into an apartment, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors. The wife becomes pregnant, and paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins controlling her life. I haven’t seen this film in a long time but would like to watch it again.

Cool Video: Ready to see a bootlegged version of “The Evil Dead” trailer?

“The Evil Dead” remake is on it’s way to the big screen and the first teaser made it’s debut at the New York City Comic Con. “The Evil Dead” remake was produced by the same team who brought us the original films: Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell. Sam Raimi didn’t direct this time, but “Juno” writer, Diablo Cody, helped write the script.

I was skeptical of this remake at first, but to my surprise, I was blown away with what I saw, even for a bootleg trailer. Looks surprisingly good! Very similar to the original except it’s an updated version with today’s technology. Look like it’s gonna be a gore fest!

I’m sure the high quality version of the trailer will arrive online soon. Enjoy this, here.

Looks great! Can’t wait for the better quality version of the trailer!

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #15: Saw (first one, only)

I’m not really a big fan of SAW, but I think the first one was really good. I only saw like, the first three flicks, and haven’t been following the rest of ’em. Seen one, seen them all. Cary Elwes and Danny Glover together in this movie is gold. I think that’s what I loved the most about it. The sequels after this one kind of ruined it for me. I thought the first one had pretty masterful storytelling, though. A horror movie that actually had a plot, and not just about blood & guts!

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #14: Nosferatu (1922)

If you want another good vampire flick, to watch on Halloween night, here’s another perfect one. “Nosferatu”, the original 1922 silent film, directed by F.W. Murnau and starring Max Schreck. It is somewhat adapted from the “Dracula” novel by Bram Stoker, but the writers made different changes with the story here and there.  This is a pretty scary film. Not a lot of people watch silent films anymore, but I love them. It’s real cinema, and the directing style and acting back in those days were the real deal. Count Orlock was a pretty scary guy.

Enjoy the film in the video below, I also believe it’s Netflix streamable.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #13: Dracula (1931, Bela Lugosi)

Why are people watching garbage like “Twilight”, when they should be watching real vampire flicks from the 1930’s? Like the original “Dracula” starring, the late and great, Bela Lugosi. There are so many different remakes of “Dracula”, adapted from the novel by Bram Stoker, but nothing will top the 1931 film. Well, I’ll admit that the 1992 “Dracula” film directed by Francis Ford Coppola was amazing and such an intense flick, but this film here, is of course, better. Another perfect film to watch with all the lights off, and perfect to show your children! Show them the true Dracula. There have been many different versions of Dracula, Christopher Lee did alright, but Bela Lugosi, nailed it, better than anybody. The Bela Lugosi version of “Dracula”, is a Netflix streamable movie, and I plan on watching it on there soon. You should too.

Report: Sly Stallone to re-team with Robert Deniro for new boxing film…

Sly may be all done with the Rocky movies, there’s never gonna be a Rocky 7, but that’s still not stopping him for starring in other boxing movies as a different character! Sly is set to star in a film titled, “Grudge Match”, in which will star comedian Kevin Hart, in the leading role. Sly and Robert Deniro will be co-stars, fighting in a match together for the film. Stallone and Deniro once starred together for the film, “Copland”, back in 1997. What a kick ass idea to have Rocky and Jake in the ring together! I can see why those guys couldn’t pass up this opportunity to fight against each other. It just shows that Sly and Robert, both still has a huge passion for boxing.

Only thing though, this film may not do well in the box office, ’cause nobody cares about boxing anymore. I believe boxing lost it’s popularity ever since UFC got big. Who knows though, maybe this film could help people get interesting in boxing again. I used to be a fan of boxing myself, used to watch it all the time.

Deadline reports.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #12: The Amityville Horror (1979)

You think you’re scared watching ghost movies like the “Paranormal Activity” franchise? Well, why don’t you try watching the original “Amityville Horror”, film starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder. This is a perfect film to watch with all the lights off, and you’ll probably have nightmares watching it. This film is a pretty scary film. It’s about a newlywed couple who moves into this old home where a murder was committed, and strange things start happening at the home. This is a great flick.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #11: Halloween 1 – 2 (Rob Zombie directed)

The two Rob Zombie “Halloween” remakes got mixed reviews, the 2nd one was most hated than the 1st, but I personally enjoyed them both. I loved Rob Zombie’s unique way of film making and storytelling. Tyler Mane is a good choice for the new, Michael Myers. I thought both of these films were brilliant, and I plan to re-watch them both pretty soon. I have both on DVD. What people don’t understand is that Rob Zombie likes to focus on the badguy more than the goodguy, so his focus is entirely on Michael Myers throughout both of these films. I don’t care if other people loved or hated the films, I go by own opinion alone. These were excellent flicks! I think ROb Zombie is one of the best horror film directors out there, he really knows his stuff.
