Report: Angelina Jolie to back out on Hollywood also?

First Joaquin Phoenix backed out on Hollywood movies out of the blue, Angelina Jolie maybe the next in line. She is thinking about quitting acting in movies too. The reason? Family. Yep, with 6 kids she’s taking care of and wanting a lot more is what made her want to quit movies soon.

She plans on working throughout the month of Feb. (which I imagine she’ll be filming that action/thriller “Salt” around that time) and then she’ll take a year off, so for right now, she’s not quitting for good.

More on it here:

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20240269,00.html

Even if she’s one of my top favorite actresses, I love her acting in movies to death, I’m all for her quitting, sure. When she’s a rich woman, she can have as many kids as she wants. She became too big of a star these days that she don’t really need to do any movies at all, I can totally understand her why she wants to back down.

I wonder if Brad would continue working even for his family life too? I’m sure he’ll speak out on this soon. Both Brad and Angelina are talented actors. I like Brad’s work too. He’s starred in a lot of really really good movies such as “Sleepers”, “Meet Joe Black”, “Fight Club”, “Se7en”, “The Ocean’s trilogy”, “Twelve Monkeys”, etc. He too also had his share of starring in some pretty bad films like “The Mexican” and “Burn After Reading” were both horrible films. His new film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” doesn’t look too interesting to me either so I’ll wait on DVD for that one.

I’m dissapointed that Joaquin Phoenix is quitting movies as I want Phoenix to continue, but I don’t really care if Angelina and Brad backs out though.

Report: “The Dark Knight” musical score disqualified from Oscar nomination…

The committee of the Academy music branch disqaulified the rights for “The Dark Knight” musical score which was composed by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard from getting a nomination at the Oscars this year.

Yep, this means that “The Dark Knight” musical score will not get a nomination.

Read more here to find out why:

Kind of sucks. The score was amazing in the film. Oh well.

This does give a good sign that the Academy will nominate “The Dark Knight” for everything else, like for “Best Picture”, “Best Director”, “Best Visual Effects”, “Best Costuming”, etc.

“The Dark Knight” will be huge for the Oscars. It’ll probably sweep everything.

Hmmmm, how much do you want to bet that Ridley Scott is going to get Russell Crowe to play the guy with the top hat and white mustache? Wouldn’t surprise me. Ridley Scott seems to love Russell Crowe as they did quite a few films together.

Report: Mayor of Batman, Turkey sues Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan for “The Dark Knight”…

Did you know that there is a city named Batman in this world? Yes, it’s true. In the country of Turkey, there is a city there that is mostly an oil-producing city. The mayor is suing Christopher Nolan the director and Warner Bros. studios accusing them of using the Batman name without the city’s permission. The mayor is also blaming them for the high number of unsolved murders and female suicides in the city since the film’s huge success. The mayor will also try to prove that the city of Batman, Turkey predates the 1939 debut of Bob Kane’s superhero in DC comics.

Warner Bros. responded back saying they are only aware of this claim via the press, they have not yet seen any actual legal action by the mayor of Batman, Turkey.

This lawsuit won’t even go through. It’s also pretty lame and stupid. And on top of that, I don’t think it’s against the legal copyright laws to use the same town/city name as a fictional character.

Report: Roger Moore bashes the new Bond films with Daniel Craig…

A former James Bond star, Roger Moore, said he has seen the new Bond flick “Casino Royale” but he has not yet seen the new one “Quantum of Solace”. Moore says he isn’t impressed with them at all. He said he hated how the films has turned violent and graphic, he explains how that is NOT James Bond.

He says positive things about the new James Bond actor, that man is Daniel Craig. He says Daniel IS Bond. Moore just doesn’t want the new films to be so violent. The earlier James Bond flicks were violent sure but they weren’t as graphic as “Casino Royale” and “Quantum” was. The earlier Bond flicks were family friendly, the newer Bond flicks with Daniel Craig are aiming more toward the adult audience.

Roger Moore played James Bond pretty much throughout the 70’s and most of the 80’s, Moore starred in the 007 films such as “The Man With the Golden Gun”, “A View To Kill”, “The Spy Who Loved Me”, “Moonraker”, etc.

More on it here:

“Quantum of Solace” comes out this Friday night, don’t know if I’ll see it in theater or not. I’ll probably wait for DVD on this one, not sure. I’m more interested in seeing “Twilight” than this one though.

But as far as Roger Moore’s comments on the new films goes, I don’t agree with him. I’ve seen “Casino Royale” and the violence in that film is not as bad and graphic as he claims. Maybe he is just old and not used to today’s violent films just yet. In “Casino Royale” there is only one scene that is very graphic when James Bond is captured by badguys and he is getting violently tortured by them. That’s the only graphic scene out of the whole movie but other than that, the rest of the film isn’t that bad. The violence in the rest of “Casino Royale” is similar to the older flicks.

Report: Even our new President reads the “Twilight” series…

Yep, you heard that right. While President Obama is hard at work preparing for the economy and counting down to his White House inauguration in Jan, Obama finds time to spend with his family in between. He is currently reading the 4 “Twilight” books to his youngest daughter Malia. He seems to enjoy the books and probably will see the movie as well.

MTV Movies Blog reports:

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/11/10/president-elect-obama-reads-twilight-so-is-he-team-edward-or-team-jacob/

Movie comes out next Friday. I’ll be seeing it myself and looking forward to seeing the film.

The reason I love the Twilight books so much is I love how the vampire characters are the heros of these series, not the evil villains that most vampire films/books make ’em out to be. The “Twilight” vampire series is so different than most vampire stories out there. I would strongly reccomend you see the film and you would see what I mean.

Don’t worry about the age of the audience where the film/book is aimed mostly at, teens. Age is just a fucking number, you’re never too old to read any book or see any film. I’ve known adults older than me that were into fucking Pokemon and fucking Spongebob for christ sakes.

Confirmed: Jaden Smith (Will Smith’s son) to star in “Karate Kid” remake…

Jaden Smith, who is the real life son of iconic actor Will Smith, is set to star the leading role in “The Karate Kid” remake. Yes, Jaden Smith is confirmed to play the Daniel Laruso character in his version of “The Karate Kid”. Jaden Smith’s character probably won’t have the Daniel Laruso name since Jaden is black, so the writers will probably give the leading character a new name to be more fitting.

The film is being written by Chris Murphy and the remake will have the similar plot from the original version, a film about a young boy who moves to a different town with his mother, gets bullied by older kids just for going after a love interest and he learns to defend himself by learning karate from a martial arts master. Look like this remake will be aimed toward the black community kind of like “The Wiz” being remade from “The Wizard of Oz” as an example.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117995614.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

Will we get a cameo by Ralph Macchio in a different role in the remake? Maybe Macchio will even be Jaden’s trainer in the film? They better give Macchio a role in this film ’cause the film will probably bomb if Macchio isn’t in it. Ralph Macchio is a full grown adult now (he’s in his 40’s now believe it or not, he’s no kid anymore), he doesn’t do acting anymore, but mostly directing films but it’s appropriate if he appears in the remake.

I love the Karate Kid movies. I like all three of them. I don’t like the 4th one with Hillary Swank though.
