About Martin Short and SNL…

After a little research on why Martin Short is part of the “5 Timers Club”, even though he has hosted the show 3 times, the reason Martin is a part of the club ’cause he was a regular cast member from 1984 – 1985. The year 1985 has the number 5, therefor, that’s what makes him qualified for the, “5 Timers Club”. Anything that has to do with 5, makes an SNL star eligible. I thought this was interesting, so I thought I would share it. Now I understand why he was a part of that group shot photo.

Edit to add: Same thing with Dan Aykroyd, he hasn’t hosted SNL that much, he was regular cast member from 1975-1979.

Cool Photo: SNL legends pose together for a group shot…

579162_461043867299016_1320045429_n

I just had to steal this photo from Steve Martin’s official facebook page. This is backstage at SNL, the night Justin Timberlake hosted, the 5 Timers Club. The 5 Timers Club are people who has either hosted or been a musical guest for 5 times or more. Tom Hanks is in the photo ’cause he hosted SNL 8 times. Paul Simon was both host and musical guest at least 5 times or a little more. Of course, Chevy, Dan, and Steve hosted SNL way more than 5 times.

I’m not sure why Martin Short is in the photo ’cause he hasn’t hosted SNL 5 times yet. Surprisingly, Martin is not a 5 Timer yet. Maybe he’s in this photo ’cause he’s friends with those guys especially Chevy, Dan, and Steve.

The guy in the red shirt standing next to Chevy, that’s none other than the SNL head honcho, boss of the show, Lorne Michaels. Isn’t it weird that Tom seems to be the only one not smiling? I think he’s purposely not smiling as part of the humor thing in this photo.

It’s great to see the, The Three Amigos, together again, though. Remember, “The Three Amigos” movie with Chevy, Steve, and Martin? That’s one of my favorite comedies of all time. Good to see Chevy smiling after all that, “Community”, debacle.

Cool Video: Watch Sean Rowe & Railbird on Jimmy Kimmel…

In case you missed Sean Rowe & Railbird jamming together on Jimmy Kimmel last night, here’s the video. I was pretty impressed with the performance. It was pretty tight. Railbird did a great job. Sean Rowe and the band Railbird, are all musicians from the Troy/Albany, N.Y. area. Sean Rowe is mainly an acoustic solo act, he collaborates with the band, Railbird often.

Sean didn’t go from playing small bars/cafes to landing a national TV gig for nothing. He worked his ass off and he came a long way for sure. Sean Rowe is proof that any musician or band can go forward and make the big time, doesn’t matter where you live. Congrats to Sean and Railbird.

I would admit, however though, I would like to get the same successes with my own music. I would love to get big. Move forward and get recognized for my music like any musician would.

Enjoy the performance below. I expect more upcoming TV performances for Sean in the future. Jimmy Fallon, Letterman, Leno? Possibly. This is just the beginning of Sean’s fame. I have a feeling, he will become a big mainstream artist in the future.

I honestly think the Oscars should take place before the Golden Globes, so the winners can be less predictable…

I hope I’m not the only one who feels this way but is everyone else getting tired of the winner choices of films being the same between the Golden Globes and the Oscars? This is why I believe it’s best that the Oscars should take place sometime before the Golden Globes. I’m not sure why the Oscars is always taken place sometime after the Golden Globes. I think the Oscars would be more fun if the winners were less predictable, you know what I mean? Oh well, it is what it is.

I did watch the Oscars last night, even the Red Carpet special before it. I hate the Red Carpet. It’s all pretty goofy and pretty pretentious, in my opinion. I just watch the Red Carpet for laughs ’cause it is kind of humorous to watch the stars jerk off with their fashion and the photographers. When it comes to Red Carpet stuff, I don’t really get into the who dresses best or who dresses worst thing. Although, I would admit, that Charlize Theron was looking the best though, I couldn’t resist saying that. Charlize was looking pretty smoking with the short hair. She has always been gorgeous and always has been one of my favorite female celebs.

Seth Macfarlane did a pretty good job hosting. I liked his opening segment, except I thought his “I Saw Boobs” song was pretty lame and stupid. Other than that, I liked the William Shatner appearance where he played Cpt. Kirk again. It was cool seeing the Shat as Kirk for one more time and he still has it. He can still play the character well!

I haven’t seen the movie “Argo” yet, but I want to. Another negative I have about the Oscars is that “Argo” won for Best Picture, and Ben Affleck got the snub for Best Director. I thought that was pretty lame too. Ben seems to be always getting ignored for the Best Director category even though he seems to be winning other stuff. Ben Affleck is a talented guy, I’ve always liked him. I just wish he would get more respect with his directing.

The same with Tarantino, he got the Best Director snub too. Even though, “Django Unchained”, used the “N” word a lot, that is still not stopping Quentin for winning a Best Screenplay award which is well deserved.

I haven’t seen any of the other movies like “Life of Pi”, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” either, but I’ll check them out soon through Netflix DVD rental.

I liked the Catherine Zeta Jones, “All That Jazz” performance. The performance by the Les Miserables cast was really good too. Of course, Adele killed it with the “Skyfall” theme. I thought the Oscars did a good job with the 50 Years Tribute to James Bond. That was well put together.

It was a pretty good Oscars show. Definitely better than this year’s crappy Golden Globes.

Why “House of Cards” is one of the best TV shows in a long while…

So I finished Netflix’s first original TV show, “House of Cards” Season 1 this week. The show is very addicting from the very start. Why? Because all the characters are very likeable. The show is well casted and has an all star lineup. Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Kate Mara, etc. The show also has some of the best writing. It is almost perfect. As soon as you start watching the show, it’ll leave you wanting more and more. Why is this show addicting?

Because this show wants to give you a reality check of what politics can be really like behind the scenes. Yes, this show is fictional, but it can be realistic too. Once you watch this show, you’ll realize that the world of politics isn’t an easy job as you think. It’s all ego, power, greed, etc. You would also see politicians get setbacks like dealing with alcoholism and affairs with other women. Things like that. Everything that politicians deal with in real life, is a part of this show.

While Francis Underwood is a great character, it’s a character named Peter Russo, who steals the show. That character is what makes the show works. Peter Russo is played by an actor by the name of Corey Stoll. Robin Wright’s character is pretty strong too.

Not bad for a 1st time original show for Netflix, and I’m already looking forward to Season 2. I’m sure they’ll get right to work on Season 2, since the first season was very successful and got positive reviews everywhere. I’ve been a long time fan of David Fincher’s work for years, and he continues to impress me.

If  you haven’t started watching this show yet on Netflix, get on it. The show was surprisingly amazing. I didn’t think it would be that good either.

Prince @ the Grammy’s last night…

So Prince, the pop star behind the “Purple Rain” fame, made a surprising apperance at the Grammy’s last night. I didn’t expect to see him ’cause it seems Prince has been keeping himself out of the spotlight for the past couple of years or so. When he walked out on that stage, I said to myself, “Wow, Prince is so short”. Yeah, he stands pretty short, and doing a little research, Prince stands about 5″ 2′. Even though he was an award presenter, he seemed like he wasn’t in a good mood. Usually when award presenters hand out an award, they usually joke around or talk before they announce the nominees, but Prince didn’t talk much at all. He just did a quick, “Here are the nominees for…”, and that was it. It looks like he just went on there to promote himself and get recognized again. It seemed he didn’t care for the show. Well, he did positively say that he liked the Gotye song before he handed out the award. It was interesting to see Prince again. I’m a fan of Prince, sure, but just his earlier music during the Purple Rain era.

“The Grammy’s” last night…

I did watch some of the “Grammy’s” last night, but not all of it. I was watching it until the new “Walking Dead” came on last night. As expected, The Grammy’s were a joke like they usually are. Most of the celebrities and famous musicians followed the new Grammy dress code. All of them except for Katy Perry, obviously. I guess she was that desperate for the attention, so Katy says, “To hell with the new dress code, I’m showing off my cleavage, anyways”. Sure enough, she got the most attention ’cause she was the only one showing off her titties.

It was also pretty annoying that the camera kept pointing at Chris Brown and Rihanna sitting in the audience. What I don’t understand is the media’s obsession with those two. I’ll have another topic on that soon.

I was bored to death of the whole Grammuy’s show over all, honestly. I couldn’t take it anymore so I switched it to AMC for Walking Dead reruns until the new episode instead.

It’s really sad of how today’s music industry came out to be. I hate the way it is, and the Grammy’s last night, proves how shitty the industry is. Why would people want to live that lifestyle? The rich and famous lifestyle, is not glorifying as people would think. Plus, the music today sucks. All of it except for Mumford & Sons which they are the best thing going, so I was glad they won the “Album of the Year” award. While I hate today’s music, I do love Mumford & Sons. They are a great band and “Babel” is a phenomenal record. Which I listen to quite a lot and addicted to it. They are the only good thing going in today’s industry

The rest of it? Blech. I hate Taylor Swift, I hate Jack White, I hate that band Fun, hate Gotye, I hate Justin Timberlake, etc. You get the deal. All of it, garbage.

The music industry was pretty strong and intense back in the early 90’s when the Grunge and metal era started taking over the mainstream, but what happened? I hate commercial and mainstream music. I don’t think rock n’ roll and metal will take over the mainstream again, because pop and rap are so huge now. The Grammy’s are  beginning to be 10x’s worse then the MTV VMA’s.

All award shows suck over all, and I’m starting to dislike the Oscars as well.

CBS to celebrities at the Grammy’s: “Keep your private parts, private”…

CBS has warned celebrities that if they wore clothing of any kind that exposes private parts, that type of fashion will be banned at the Grammy’s. That means the women are not allowed to show their cleavages and they won’t be allowed to wear see through either. They are not only allowed to show off their breasts, they are also not allowed to show off their genitals or buttocks.

This rule applies to the male celebrities too.

More on the story, here:

I’m sure people are angry at CBS over this new rule. I’m sure people are saying, “Oh, women should have the right to show their cleavages on TV” or “Women should be able to wear what they want to”…. waaaaahhhhh… cry me a river.

Lets be honest here, this is a good move by CBS, and they should have done this years ago. I bet Beyonce’s Superbowl Halftime performance is what pushed them to do it ’cause since her performance at the Superbowl was pretty racy and sexual, other female performers at the Grammy’s were probably gonna try to top it. CBS wanted to put a stop to that.

That’s another thing that I hate about the way the industry works. Seems like music is all about the sex. It always has been. Sex may sell in music, but it doesn’t always have to be. Females in music don’t need to look like strippers or whores to be something. I kind of blame all the sex in music ’cause of Madonna, pretty much. Madonna pioneered the whole sex in music thing.

This is about keeping it clean for the kids and families who watch the Grammy’s.

On top of that, who fuckin’ cares about the Grammy’s, ya know? It has always been a mediocre award show like all the others. I can’t stand commercial and mainstream music.

Netflix’s original TV show, “House of Cards”, is very addicting!

Now you can add David Fincher’s TV show for Netflix, “House of Cards”, to the list of my favorite current TV shows. So far, I’ve watched 6 episodes of the show on Netflix, and can’t get enough! It’s surprisingly really good! Great writing, and acting by the cast! This is Kevin Spacey’s best acting in his career, and Kate Mara (who is Rooney’s older sister) is a pretty good actress too. It’s about this guy named Francis Underwood, who is a ruthless Congressman, and he is desperate to become President of the United States, and would do just about anything to get there. David Fincher didn’t direct all of the episodes this season, Joel Schumacher directed some too. I’m halfway through this season, and there are 13 episodes.

It’s a pretty realistic show and pretty entertaining. I was skeptical of this show at first, but after checking out a few episodes, I was immediately hooked!

Is Netflix the future of TV? Absolutely! “House of Cards” is becoming a big hit, so I’m sure there will definitely be more seasons in the future. I’m also sure Netflix will create more original TV shows and movies.

If you have nothing to watch on Netflix, I would recommend you check this show out yourself. You can tell this show is a David Fincher creation, ’cause of his unique style. The way he films this show is the similar way he films his big screen movies. Oh, Fincher and Kevin Spacey already worked together once. Remember the film, “Se7en”?

Not a cool video: I say that Beyonce is still lip synching!!!

How is this proving the haters wrong? They didn’t give us any proof whether or not there was any backing tapes, backstage at this event. I also don’t trust that wireless microphone when there is already a microphone, right there at that glass podium. Even though this could be “live” singing, you gotta love what the power of vocal effects (reverb/echo/etc.) can do to your voice. Auto-tune, anyone?

You also gotta love all of her silly excuses when not singing it live. Not having the time to rehearse, the cold weather, blah blah blah.

If you really had the talent, any singer could get up there and wing it out, regardless of the weather or whatever lame excuses you can make for not singing it live.

What a nice attempt to get respect back, though.
