Disney scores full rights for “Indiana Jones” franchise from Paramount…

Ever since George Lucas announced retirement from Hollywood last year, he gave up the rights for his Lucasfilm company and sold it to Disney. This gives the rights for Disney to make as many Star Wars movies as they wanted; however, people wondered what’s gonna happen to the Indiana Jones franchise since it’s owned by Paramount Pictures. Now you no longer have to worry about what’s gonna happen with Indy ’cause the franchise has been bought by Disney. Paramount has agreed to sell the full rights to Disney. Which means that Disney now owns the first four Indy films: “Raiders”, “Temple of Doom”, “Crusade” and “Crystal Skull”. This also means that Disney has the full rights to do whatever they want with the character. Make as many movies as they want: sequels, prequels, reboots, etc.

This doesn’t confirm that Indy V has gotten the greenlight yet but for a long time now… Harrison Ford has expressed interest in returning to the character for one more time. My question is will Harrison still do this film without George Lucas on board? Will Steven Spielberg still direct Indy V without George?

Deadline reports.

I’m actually kind of thankful that George is no longer doing Indy ’cause that’s an opportunity for a better film. While I did like “Crystal Skull” the last Indy movie, I’ll admit that some of it was silly as hell and had some problems. It’s just that I think that movie would have been a lot better if Shia Labeouf wasn’t in it… he pretty much ruined it for me. Other than that, the film was pretty exciting. I liked the idea of mixing Indy with sci-fi — I just wished the script was better.

I don’t care what anyone thinks — Disney can make as many Indy films as they want to sequels, prequels or reboots… whatever but nothing will top “Raiders”. “Raiders” is obviously the best Indy film. I love it so much. It’s one of those movies I can watch over and over and never get tired of it. “Raiders” is indeed an essential classic and an important movie. I thought “Temple of Doom” was a pretty amazing film but my heart will always be toward “Raiders”.

Lets hope Disney won’t remake, “Raiders” ’cause that would be really bad.

Film Review: “Thor: The Dark World”

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins

Directed by:  Alan Taylor

Today, I decided to check out “Thor: The Dark World” and here is my review…

Plot/synopsis: The plot to this movie is pretty simple and straightforward. Just continues from the first “Thor” film about saving Earth from evil beings. This time there are evil beings known as the Dark Elves who wants to send the universe into Darkness by using a weapon called the Aether. Thor reunites with Jane Foster so she can help destroy the Aether but instead the Aether takes over her body. The Dark Elves wants Jane ’cause she has the Aether inside of her body. Later, Thor teams up with his evil brother, Loki so they can help destroy the Aether and they can help save the 9 realms of Asgard (which Earth being one of them).

I’m not too big on Marvel superheros. There are only very few Marvel superheros that I am big fans of. The only Marvel superheros that I am big fans of are the Wolverine, The Punisher, Iron Man, Captain American, Hulk and of course, Thor.

I enjoyed, “Thor: The Dark World”. It’s just a fun and exciting movie just like the first one was. Just your typical popcorn-action film with impressive visuals and effects. The story was entertaining and watchable but the ending was too predictable, though. I like the action scenes in this movie. There are more action scenes in this movie than the last one. The entire cast did a good job like usual but Tom Hiddleston steals the show here. Hiddleston as Loki is badass. I am noticing that the Thor movies wants to mix action and comedy together. There are a lot of humor throughout these movies.

“Thor: The Dark World” was pretty good. Nothing mind blowing or amazing but just entertaining. I know this review is a short one ’cause there isn’t a lot of things to be said about it. It is recommended to check out if you’re a fan of Marvel or superhero films.

I’ll give it a two thumbs up.

JJ Abrams confirms R2D2 will be in, “Star Wars Episode VII”!!!

Now that the team behind “Star Wars VII” finally have a director, writers, producers, composer, etc. — now they’re gonna start revealing what characters will be in the movie and they will start the casting soon. JJ tweeted himself this photo with the Bad Robot team confirming that R2D2 will be in “Star Wars VII”. So to prove that R2 will be in the movie… the Bad Robot team poses in a photo with R2 the droid himself. I think the woman pictured in the photo is none other than Kathleen Kennedy, the new Lucasfilm president, I believe.

See the photo, here.

This is a good chance that C3PO will be in it too.

When will Mark, Harrison, and Carrie be confirmed? Everybody knows they’ll probably be in it but JJ is waiting for the right time for confirmation.

Cool Video: “Maleficent” trailer is released and it looks impressive!!!

The visuals looks pretty stunning in this new trailer for the Disney film, “Maleficent”. I like what I see so far. I’m not a very big Disney fan by any means. I only like the classic Disney movies like “Snow White”, “Cinderella”, “Pinocchio”, “Bambi”, “Dumbo”, etc.. I only like a few new live-action Disney films like the “Chronicles of Narnia” series for example.

I’ll probably end up seeing, “Maleficent” in theater. I think I’m pretty much sold to it.

Disney’s “Maleficent” poster released… and Angelina looks pretty frightening…

I hate most live-action Disney films but I’m actually looking forward to, “Maleficent”, with Angelina playing the famous, “Sleeping Beauty” character. The poster for the film, “Maleficient” was released today.

See it, here.

Now that the poster is out, I’m looking forward to the film even more! All I need next is a trailer which I think will be released tomorrow. I’ll post it asap. Most new Disney films are horrible these days but I’m hoping this will be a good one. The story sounds interesting so far.

“Star Wars: Episode VII” release date announced for Dec. 18th, 2015…

Welp, apparently Disney and Lucasfilm are in a big rush for “Star Wars 7” as they promised long ago. They confirmed a release date for Dec. 18th, 2015, and if you think about it… that’s not so far up ahead. Do you think JJ can make a good Star Wars movie in a year??? Read the press release, here.

The title and synopsis is still not yet known but we’ll know soon enough. Now that they have a director, writers, composer (John Williams), and a release date… they should start casting soon. So we will soon know whether or not Harrison, Mark and Carrie are returning. I think there’s a 100% chance of them returning. They claim they haven’t been signed yet but I think it’s a lie so they won’t reveal too many surprises. I think the original trio signed as soon as Lucas sold Lucas film to Disney.

What will the next movie be like? It’s gonna be interesting to find out who the main villain will be. Hopefully, they won’t bring Darth Vader back. We need a new and original villain. I’m sure C3P0 and R2D2 will return. Chewbacca will come back as well… maybe Lando? I hope Han Solo will reunite with his Millennium Falcon ’cause that would be pretty badass! I’m sure we’ll get lightsaber fights, spaceship battles and the usual family/friendly stuff for the kids.

I hope JJ will do a good job and don’t mess it up. One thing to keep in mind, there’s going to be lens flare all over the film, though. You know how JJ is obsessed with that.

JJ Abrams will take over writing duties for “Star Wars 7” along with Lawrence Kasdan to help out…

Michael Arndt was originally hired to write, “Star Wars 7” but it appears that Lucasfilm/Disney have hired new writers to take over. They are JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan. JJ Abrams is still directing, “Star Wars 7”, he will do both writing and directing. Lawrence Kasdan will help him out. As some of you Star Wars geeks out there may already know, Lawrence helped out with the writing for “Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”.

I’m honestly skeptical of JJ jumping aboard for writing duties ’cause JJ is a horrible screenwriter. He ruined “Star Trek”, “Mission Impossible” and many of his own TV shows. He has even ruined “Lost”. His show, “Lost” started off really good but the show ended pretty badly. It’s a good thing JJ isn’t the only writer for “Star Wars 7”.

The synopsis for “Star Wars 7” is still unknown at this time but we’ll find out soon. Will this movie leave right off from where “Return of the Jedi” ended? Will Luke, Han, and Leia return?

Lets hope they do a real good job with the movie and hope they give what the Star Wars fans want. JJ is a massive Star Wars fan. He seems to know about the franchise better than anybody so I hope he’ll do it justice.

Don’t be surprised if “Star Wars 7” turns out to be garbage, though. After the crappy “Star Wars” prequels and the crap “Star Trek: Into Darkness”, it’s hard to take anything these guys do seriously.

Deadline reports.

“Oz: The Great and Powerful” brief review…

So I finally saw, “Oz: The Great and Powerful” on DVD last night. It was a Netflix DVD rental. This film is the prequel to the original 1939 film, “The Wizard of Oz” directed by Victor Fleming and based upon the book by L. Frank Baum.

My thoughts on, “Oz: The Great and Powerful”… I thought the film did a pretty good job explaining the original film; however, the script was a mess. Yes, this new film was based upon the Oz books ’cause remember they were a series of novels. Sam Raimi was pretty faithful to the stories but there was something missing with the script and needed a little improvement. The dialogue was a bit of a mess and the acting wasn’t that great either. I thought James Franco was pretty annoying and they should have used a better choice of an actor for Oz.

I was actually most impressed with Mila Kunis who played the Wicked Witch of the West. Mila was the best part of the movie. She was pretty sexy as hell in the film with or without the witch costume & makeup. Mila made a sexy Wicked Witch even in the green skin. Mila did a great job playing her.

After watching the movie, I can see why Disney wanted Sam Raimi to direct this movie ’cause they wanted this movie to be kind of scary and they knew that Raimi has horror experience. A lot of material in this reminded me so much of the “Evil Dead” movies, for sure. I’ve always liked Sam Raimi’s directing style. He’s unique and different. Even though this is a high budget movie, Sam still has some of his B-movie directing in this film.

Some of this movie is pretty entertaining, though. The film has a lot of action and quite a bit of violence in it. Sam did an okay job making Oz having a love for magic and turning him into an evil wizard when he’s not really.

With all this being said, I thought the film was okay. Nothing all that great and nothing amazing. I just wish they didn’t make it so similar to the original film. After I watched this film last night, I thought to myself, “Was this a remake or a prequel”? I looked at it as a remake ’cause almost every scene was pretty much the same from the original film. If you wanna call it a prequel, then make it a prequel… don’t make it similar. I hate it when prequels do that. George Lucas didn’t do that with the Star Wars movies… he made those prequels totally different stories.

The original “Wizard of Oz” movie with Judy Garland is one of my favorite films. I’ve seen that movie too many times ever since I was a child and still love that film. It’s a classic indeed and honestly that film doesn’t need prequels, remakes or sequels. It should have been left alone ’cause if you make it a prequel, you’re just ruining the mysterious part of the story. It takes the magic out of it, know what I mean?

“Oz: The Great and Powerful” was alright. It’s nothing I’ll watch over and over again. It’s still worth checking out, though!

Happy Star Wars day…

While I am more of a “Star Trek” fan than “Stars Wars”, I can appreciate “Star Wars”. Sure, why not? I do like the original trilogy and the prequels. I think the prequels are actually pretty good but the writing on the prequels had some problems, plus I hated the Jar Jar Binks character which he wasn’t needed. I believe the only reason Lucas created Jar Jar ’cause he needed an entertaining character for the children.

I really hope the upcoming new trilogy: 7, 8, and 9 will be much improvements. Without Lucas having anything to do with Star Wars this time around, this could be the perfect opportunity to make the Star Wars better films. Yes, Luke Skywalker, Solo, Leia, Lando, Chewbacca and the rest of the original gang will probably reunite for the new series which is gonna be cool.

I’ve always believe that my favorite Star Wars movies have always been “Empire Strikes Back” and “Revenge of the Sith”; they were the best ones, in my opinion. The rest of ’em were just okay. I think the new trilogy will have the potential to top them all if the writing and directing can be good enough. I think J.J. has what it takes to make them good movies ’cause he knows Star Wars better than anybody since he’s a fan. JJ would know exactly what fans would want out of Star Wars and he would do the films justice, I hope.

I was expecting Lucasfilm to make some huge announcement for “Star Wars 7” on May 4th but so far, they’ve been silent. Star Wars 7 is still in the early stages so we still have got a long ways to go for them to start announcing the plot-line, the cast, etc. I am a fan of “Star Wars”, but I’m not that obsessed. Star Wars is cool, though, don’t get me wrong. I’ve always been a fan ever since I was a child. Even saw “Return of the Jedi” in theater when it first came out. I saw all three prequels in theater too.

I just find Star Wars a tad bit overrated. No offense. I am looking forward to seeing what JJ plans to do with the new films, though, it’s intriguing to me.

Report: Harrison Ford finally responds to Star Wars 7, says he’s looking forward to it but not in the bag yet…

Harrison has been silent on Star Wars 7 involvement ever since Disney announced they bought Lucasfilm and moving forward with three more Star Wars flicks, but Harrison himself finally speaks out about it. It was a brief statement. Even though, he finally confirms that he’s interested and maybe involved, it’s still not a confirmation.

I think Harrison has already been secretly hired and already signed for the role, he’s just not allowed to talk about it until Lucasfilm makes the announcement themselves. He just gave us a small hint that he maybe in it. I think he definitely will be reprising his role as Han Solo. It sure is going to be interesting to see JJ and Harrison work together.

More on the story, here.
