Cool Video: A Korean version of “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)”??? Yes please…

This gorgeous looking Asian chick covers Hendrix’s “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)”, on a Korean instrument called, the Gayageum. This is pretty impressive playing, and gave me goosebumps, all the way through. If Hendrix himself was still alive, he would have loved her for this. She did a great job. Rock songs can be played on any instrument, not just guitar. As long as you know music theory and improvisation, you can play any type of song on any type of instrument.

Enjoy this.

Last night’s “Walking Dead”, and my prediction for Season Finale… ******BIG SPOILERS******

So I watched last night’s “Walking Dead”, and once again, it ended with a huge shocker that got everyone talking. I’m going to talk about last night’s episode and my prediction for the Season Finale, for this coming Sunday, but I will do it with a spoiler warning for those who didn’t see it. The big spoilers are under the lines. If you haven’t seen any of it this season, then I suggest you not read any further.

Here we go…..

The Governor have offered, Rick and the gang complete immunity if they would bring in Michonne. Of course, that offer is a lie, and the Governor is not to be trusted. Rick was going to do what the Governor requested, by bringing Michonne to the Governor, but Merle Dixon ends up leaving the prison with Michonne. Why? Simply because Merle didn’t want Rick giving Michonne to the Govnernor. Merle knows the Governor better than anybody, and he knows that the Governor’s immunity offer was a trick. He knows the Governor’s plan was to kill Rick and everybody else. As Merle and Michonne traveled, Merle sends Michonne back to the prison, announcing that he has to do something alone. After Michonne takes off, Merle decides to take matters at his own hands and take down the Governor and his men himself, but of course, The Governor, already killed Merle, before he even got to him.

As Daryl went searching for his brother, the area where Merle and the Governor had a big shootout, there were bodies of the Governor’s men all over the place, so Merle already killed some of the Governor’s men. Daryl finds Merle as a Walker, eating one of Governor’s dead men. Last night’s Walking Dead ended right there. Last night’s episode, never showed how Merle was killed by the Governor. I think there is a good reason for that. They want to keep Merle’s death a mystery until the end of Season 3.

How do I think Season 3 is going to end?

Well, judging by the books, there is another major shocker coming, that hasn’t happened in the show, yet and that’s how I believe the Season 3 finale will end. In the books, Rick had a major announcement that he will announce to his friends. He kept a secret inside of him that he didn’t want to reveal until later. What is this big secret that he kept? Well, Rick revealed that everybody is “The Walking Dead”. Yes, that means people who are still alive and walking. It doesn’t matter how you die, everyone will get turned into a walker. It’s not by another walker bite, is what makes you turn. Remember back in Season 1 at the CDC building, where Dr. Jenner whispers in Rick’s ear, and nobody knows what is said? That was the secret that Jenner told him. Rick held that into him after all this time, and I think he will finally tell his friends that in the Season Finale.

The show did hint you throughout the first two seasons of Rick’s secret. In Season 2, Glen and Daryl finding a dead walker with no bite marks, is the big clue. Another one, Rick shooting Shane and Shane turns. Merle’s death in Season 3 will finally lead Rick to revealing the secret.

As far as Season 3 goes, it’s okay. Slightly disappointing. I was hoping they would use Michonne getting chained up by the Governor, instead of Andrea like it was in the books, but I understand why the TV show couldn’t use Michonne getting chained up and raped by the Governor, ’cause it would be too controversial and dark for TV. I kind of figure they weren’t going to use Michonne for the rape scenes, for that reason. If they used Michonne instead of Andrea, the film makers of “The Walking Dead” would be accused of being racists for sure, and we don’t want that do we? It could get the show cancelled.

I’m looking forward to seeing how Season 3 is going to end this coming Sunday, and I’m pretty sure, my prediction is going to be right. Just wait.

Film Of The Day: The Wrestler

I realize I’ve been silent on these “Film of the Day” things the last couple of days, but I’ll try to do these daily the best I can. I’ll do this now, to get it out of the way.

I think “The Wrestler”, starring Mickey Rourke and directed by Darren Aronofsky, was the best film released in 2008. This is really one of my favorite dramas of all time.

It tells the story of Randy “The Ram” Robinson, who is a professional wrestler who works for small independent wrestling companies such as VFW. He also works a part time job at a grocery store and he has a girlfriend who is a stripper. While Randy, struggles to make money and live his life, things around him start to crumble. He becomes addicted to steroids, he loses his stripper girlfriend, he tries to reconcile with his daughter, and many other things. While he tries to get his life back together, there is one thing that he still loves to do, and that is wrestling.

You see, you don’t have to be a fan of professional wrestling yourself, to watch a movie like this. This movie wasn’t made strictly for wrestling fans. It was made to give people insight on what a professional wrestler’s life is like outside of the ring. This film wants to take a realistic approach on things. It’s not just a movie about professional wrestling either. This movie is about what life could be like when a man is aging. While this movie is about a professional wrestler, there isn’t a lot of wrestling scenes in this movie for a reason ’cause this film wants to let people know that wrestlers can be real, and they can be human like us. A lot of professional wrestlers look after this movie ’cause this movie reminded so much of their own life.

Most importantly of all, it’s the acting of the cast, is what made this movie worked, especially Mickey’s performance, and Marisa Tomei was good too. This is a beautiful film, and sad. This movie will bring tears to your eyes for sure. I believe this film should have won, “Best Picture”, that year. Posting about the movie, makes me want to watch this movie again, maybe I will sometime this week.

I kind of admit, that I would like to forward my music to a bigger career…

Can you see my music heading down that same direction EBJ is getting? Up to the point where I start playing the bigger stages and opening for national acts? I could take myself there if I wanted to, if I work a lot harder on my music, gig a lot more, promote myself more, etc. I would also need to write better songs to get myself there, which is what I’ve been trying to work on for years. It really is hard to write really good songs that people would enjoy.

I think the secret to writing great songs that will reach out to more listeners, is writing catchy songs that people can sing along to, or even dance to. People love dancing to music and that’s why a lot of people go  see live music. You don’t have to play music that people can dance to, just write songs with heart & passion, and people will be kind enough to support it, anyway, if it’s good enough.

Just like every band and artist out there, I want success with my music too, it’s just that I’m in no rush. Don’t want to get too ahead of myself and take my slow time. I’m still not that great of a guitar player and singer yet, but I’m taking my time to improve both of those as well. I may have gotten little success with my music ’cause as long as I got myself out there playing the smaller venues, that is success, no matter what you think of it. I believe, I’m at a decent start, already. I may not have opened for any big national acts yet, but I have shared the stage with the area’s biggest performers before.

I know, I haven’t done anything musically in a long while since 2011, but the break wasn’t that long. I’m definitely coming back to this ’cause I miss it. I really do try to do my best in the music world. I do try my best to please people. I do try my best to get recognition and do my best to try to get people to support my music. Other people can’t see that I try my best, but I really do!!! I give it all I got! I try to write the best music possible, but if people don’t care to support it, that’s okay with me ’cause I do music for myself.

I just write songs however, I wanted. Whatever comes out of me, whether it’s a rock n’ roll song or a slow ballad, doesn’t matter what genre. Like I said, I’m always trying to find ways to write that great song, and it really is hard to do. Someday, I will write that great song that everybody will like. I just need to keep trying.

What I miss about the Star Trek franchise…

I do like what JJ Abrams is doing to the “Star Trek” reboot, and I know a lot of new fans like what he has done, but a lot of new Star Trek fans don’t understand what the franchise is really about. Will the new Star Trek fans who support JJ’s work, go back to the older Star Trek series like the original Trek, TNG, and all the others? No probably not. The newer fans will probably stick with JJ’s Trek. They won’t understand the older series. Which is sad.

Remember, Kirk and Picard’s opening voice over intro when the shows start, “To seek out new lives and new civilizations”, that’s what Star Trek is about. That’s what JJ Abrams seems to be forgetting with the new movies. Star Trek is about politics, and exploration in space. JJ’s movies has a little bit of that, but JJ turned his Star Trek movies into epic fantasy action/adventures. I miss the actual storytelling with the Star Trek, franchise. Where’s the science fiction? What made the earlier Star Trek series worked ’cause they were true science fiction stories. JJ’s “Star Trek”, isn’t true science fiction. They’re action movies, in my opinion. Star Trek stories also had a mix of drama and humor. JJ’s movies has some of that, but not enough.

Star Trek was never about violent action scenes and big special effects. They were about telling science fiction stories. Telling stories similar to what Isaac Asimov and Ray Bradbury has done. That’s why I love Star Trek. I just loved the storytelling, the science fiction part of things. That’s why a lot of people believe that Star Trek is boring because the pacing of the movies and the earlier TV shows were pretty slow for them, yet, the non-Trekkie’s find Star Wars better. Now that JJ has turned Star Trek into Star Wars, people now had a change of heart with Star Trek. How ironic is that, right?

I like the earlier Star Trek series, the original Trek, TNG, Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and Enterprise. I loved all of the movies except for “Star Trek: Insurrection”, and “The Final Frontier”, which were pretty bad films. With that being said, I’m looking forward to “Star Trek: Into Darkness”, the new Trek movie by JJ Abrams, but I’m still going to miss the old school way of Star Trek. I never really wanted the re-boot to happen, honestly. I was hoping the TNG cast would get one more film or the “Voyager” cast would get their own movie ’cause that would be cool.

Also, when is there going to be a new Star Trek television series? That’s what all the Trekkie’s wanna know too. There haven’t been a new Trek series in a while. I hope they come out with something new myself, but I hope they don’t re-boot any of the older series and they should come up with something new.

Speaking of Star Trek: TNG, I’ve been watching it a lot on Netflix. Just at the end of “Season 3”. I still remember all of these episodes like yesterday, ’cause I used to watch “The Next Generation”, obsessively when it used to be on TV back in the day. “The Next Generation” is a great show, and am glad to be re-watching it again. Thanks to Netflix for uploading all the Trek series made to stream. Yes, I’m a die-hard Trekkie, and very proud of it. Again, I do like JJ’s take on Star Trek, I just miss their old way of telling Star Trek stories, and that’s the point I’m trying to make in this post.

About Martin Short and SNL…

After a little research on why Martin Short is part of the “5 Timers Club”, even though he has hosted the show 3 times, the reason Martin is a part of the club ’cause he was a regular cast member from 1984 – 1985. The year 1985 has the number 5, therefor, that’s what makes him qualified for the, “5 Timers Club”. Anything that has to do with 5, makes an SNL star eligible. I thought this was interesting, so I thought I would share it. Now I understand why he was a part of that group shot photo.

Edit to add: Same thing with Dan Aykroyd, he hasn’t hosted SNL that much, he was regular cast member from 1975-1979.

Happy 82nd Birthday to William Shatner!!!

I usually wish the Shat, a happy birthday every year in my blog. Why? Because he’s a hero and inspiration to me. Love the guy! I’ve looked after him, my whole life. He is a man of many talents. He has done everything you could think of in the entertainment business. He was an actor most notably, but he was also a spoken word singer, TV show host, comedian, science fiction writer & non fiction author, former professional wrestler (yes, he worked for the WWF for a little bit), and he was many other things. I don’t know how he does it, but the man keeps himself busy, all the time. That’s part of why he is such an inspiration. He’s a work horse for sure. Plus, he’s an entertaining and funny as hell guy. He treated his career in a positive direction too. Happy Birthday, Shat! Enjoy yourself, where ever you are!

Film Of The Day: Rambo: First Blood

Alright, time to start doing the Stallone movies, and I’ll start with the first, Rambo. “Rambo: First Blood”, a 1982 action movie that was adapted from the novel by David Morrel, and starring Stallone, Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy. The story tells a story of a former Green Beret who fought in the Vietnam War. He traveled all the way to Hope, Washington on foot to visit a friend, only to find out that his friend died when he arrived. As Rambo continued to travel on foot, he was approached by the town’s Sheriff who’s name is, Will Teasle. Rambo wanted to go into town for a bite to eat, but instead Teasle drives him out of town. Of course, Rambo refuses to leave town and tries to enter, anyway. Sheriff Teasle ends up arresting him. While in jail, Rambo is tortured by law enforcement. While still being haunted by his Vietman war past, that sends him into a rage where he takes matters at his own hands by escaping. Rambo hides out in the woods to protect himself from the Sheriff and the police who want to kill him. Rambo’s old war friend, Col. Trautman, returns to try to talk Rambo into giving up and turning himself in.

Not only this is one of my favorite Stallone movies ever, this is one of the greatest action movies of all time. The action scenes are pretty breathtaking, all the way. This film also has Sly’s best acting. Of course, Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna kill it with their acting too. The score is also pretty amazing. Rambo is the type of war hero that you don’t want to mess with. He is a mean killing machine, for sure. This is not just an action movie, it’s about survival, most importantly. I’ve seen the first Rambo movie way too many times. It never gets old. If you want to see why Sly is such an action movie legend, this movie will show you why he matters to so many people. The best scene of the film is where Rambo and Col. Trautman appear on screen for the first time toward the end of the film. That big Rambo speech. The other Rambo films may be okay, but obviously, the original “First Blood” movie will always be the best one. A lot of people should have seen this by now, but if you haven’t, you need to see it.

Will my music ever get the recognition it deserves?

Sometimes I get a few people saying that my music should get the recognition it deserves. Keep going forward. Making a lot more fans. Playing a lot more venues. Things like that. Could my music get as far as to the point where the indie labels would be interested in me? I don’t know. Maybe. If I don’t get that far, that’s okay with me. I’ll just continue to do what I do. Making music and writing songs. It is flattering that a few people out there think of my music this way. On how, some think my music deserves a bigger career. I’m just not worried about it.

The best thing I can say is, that I’ll just keep writing. Write, write, write, and write. If I keep writing songs, then who knows. Maybe my music will one day explode in the music scene or even in the industry. I’m always trying to figure out ways on how to write that great song, and I believe I am slowly improving, in my songwriting.

While I do agree that music should be for myself, and not pleasing everybody, I still hope that my songs do get discovered and get heard. I don’t think I’ll ever get as big as EBJ/Sean Rowe/Phantogram, but ya never know, I could, if I decide to move this music thing forward. For now, I just look at music as a hobby kind of thing. Not a career. I just write music for the love of it. If I wanted to get that big, I better perfect my craft in the songwriting, which is what I’ve been trying to do for the last 18 years I’ve been playing music. This is part of why I have decided to try and write more slow ballads/folk songs, hoping that genre will catch more listeners ears. One thing to remind you about though, guys, is that I’ve always written slow ballads and original folk songs: “Back to Running”, “Secret of Mine”, “The Crash”, etc.

I’m really am trying hard to write great songs. I do get songwriting and recording tips from other musicians, that I can appreciate. Like I said, I’ll just keep making music and see what happens. If a big career doesn’t happen at all, I’ll just continue to enjoy life and do my thing. If a music career don’t happen at all, I’ll just continue to make music for you guys. I better write music soon instead of talking about it, and don’t worry, I’ve been coming up with a lot of great ideas musically. Stay tuned.

Cool Photo: SNL legends pose together for a group shot…

579162_461043867299016_1320045429_n

I just had to steal this photo from Steve Martin’s official facebook page. This is backstage at SNL, the night Justin Timberlake hosted, the 5 Timers Club. The 5 Timers Club are people who has either hosted or been a musical guest for 5 times or more. Tom Hanks is in the photo ’cause he hosted SNL 8 times. Paul Simon was both host and musical guest at least 5 times or a little more. Of course, Chevy, Dan, and Steve hosted SNL way more than 5 times.

I’m not sure why Martin Short is in the photo ’cause he hasn’t hosted SNL 5 times yet. Surprisingly, Martin is not a 5 Timer yet. Maybe he’s in this photo ’cause he’s friends with those guys especially Chevy, Dan, and Steve.

The guy in the red shirt standing next to Chevy, that’s none other than the SNL head honcho, boss of the show, Lorne Michaels. Isn’t it weird that Tom seems to be the only one not smiling? I think he’s purposely not smiling as part of the humor thing in this photo.

It’s great to see the, The Three Amigos, together again, though. Remember, “The Three Amigos” movie with Chevy, Steve, and Martin? That’s one of my favorite comedies of all time. Good to see Chevy smiling after all that, “Community”, debacle.
