I'm a musician, singer/songwriter, blogger, writer, poet, bodybuilder, movie lover, music lover, video gamer, history/political buff, conservative/republican, etc. I like to do a lot of things.

The warm and hot weather is here, where it’s time to be shirtless outside more often…

The question you have to ask is, will I tan my body? To be summer ready? I don’t know, I’ve been thinking about it a lot. They say tanning the body is important because it helps make the muscles a lot more visible. It’s why you see so many tanned bodybuilders. My goal is to have a natural look. So I would want to be careful to not be too dark. I’ll have to tan outside because my hometown doesn’t have a tanning salon where they have those indoor tanning bed things with those weird lights. Not sure if I will tan or not, but I might do a little bit. I just wanted to tone my body up so I can look good and summer ready.

I will be fit and muscular all year round, I’m going to keep going. Some people would work out for a while before the summer so they can be summer beach ready, and then stop working out after the summer…but not with me. I ain’t stopping, no matter the situation. This is how I am passionate and dedicated with fitness. It’s something I can finally be good and successful at other than music. When I was younger, I used to swim with a t-shirt on ’cause I didn’t like being flat chested. I don’t need a shirt anymore at the beach.

I will post more pics later in the month for more improvements and to see how I progressed.

You don’t really have true passion in music if…

A lot of people claim they have strong passion in music, but do you really? If you think you have true passion in music here are several things you must think about. These are the things that shows people that you have your true passion. Lets look at it now.

You don’t really have true passion in music if:

  • you only listen to mainstream and popular music. People think they have passion in music if you listen to only stuff you see in the Billboard Top 200 and stuff on the radio. I know some people like this. The type of people who refuses to listen to old school music or refuses to listen to underrated bands/artists they’ve never heard of. You try to talk them into listening to other stuff, but they don’t. Some folks would only listen to popular stuff and it’s very strange to me, in my opinion.
  • you don’t play an instrument or even sing. In my eyes, if someone wants to show true passion in music they must play an instrument or sing or something. They don’t have to be good. Just play or do something. Any instrument, it can even be a harmonica or a flute. Doesn’t matter.
  • you never listened to the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Ac/Dc, Neil Young or any legendary classic rock band – Any music lover who has never listened to any legendary classic rock band is not an actual music lover, in my opinion.
  • don’t go to live concerts on a regular basis – Whether you go to local concerts or go see national bands at arenas, it’s all good. This is a fine way to show your true passion.
  • you don’t see music as your #1 priority in life – A lot of famous musicians in the music industry got where they are today ’cause they all saw music as their #1 priority. Music is all these guys do. Family and life outside of music maybe more important, yes, but according to actual music lovers, they would place music as #1 than anything else.  If you place music as #2, and place life/family first… sorry, you don’t have true love for music.
  • you can’t pick your own favorite albums instead of songs – Many music listeners would pick a certain song to listen to off an album instead of listening through the entire album. I notice some people would skip certain songs they don’t like and go to the next to listen to that they do like. This isn’t what actual music lovers do. They listen through an entire album like a piece of art. Many true music lovers are never picky with songs they don’t like, most I know would love an album all the way through. I’m the same way. People don’t listen to records like that anymore and it’s really sad.
  • you don’t know a lot about your favorite music artist or band – I find some music fans if they like a certain band or artist, they know nothing about ’em. Don’t know their music history, don’t know their discography, don’t memorize their lyrics, how they play their live shows, what kind of guitars or instruments they play, or whatever. A true music lover would KNOW EVERYTHING about their favorite music artist or band. I think it’s very important to know as much information about your favorite music artist as you possibly can. For example, I know a lot about Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, David Bowie, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, etc.
  • you don’t understand what it’s like being a musician – It is difficult talking about music to people who aren’t musicians. If you talk guitars, amps or music theory to non-musicians, they would be like, ‘eh, whatever”, but when you talk to other musicians about this stuff, they would understand what you’re talking about.
  • you don’t read about music – People would listen to music, but a lot of them don’t read anything about it. Reading books, magazines, etc. about the industry. A real music lover would do these things. Keep up to date of what’s going on in the world of music is important.
  • you only listen to one genre – I hate this question, “what kind of music do you listen to” for many reasons. It annoys me. A lot of folks out there would only listen to one genre, a certain genre that you like. A real music lover would listen to pretty much everything. Rock n’ roll, metal, country, pop, R&B, classical, blues, jazz, etc. I don’t listen to one genre, I pretty much listen to everything if you’ve noticed. I understand people’s taste in music and people are entitled to their own opinions, but there’s plenty of music out there. Listening to other stuff won’t hurt ’cause I think if I listen to one genre all the time, it would bore me.

Enjoy.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley…I watched it last night…

I know I said I wasn’t going to watch last night’s HBO Boxing, but I did anyways. Couldn’t resist. Why? Because I didn’t want to risk missing Mayweather Jr. losing to Shane Mosley, in case it happened…but…Shane didn’t win. Floyd Mayweather Jr. of course, still remains undefeated. It was by unaminous decision. Floyd = 118 Mosley = 110. Mosley did real good. Made off with a great start. In the beggining of the fight, Mosley was pounding on Floyd Jr. like crazy with the crowd standing up. I was even going crazy myself, I was going, “Go, go go” with my arms flying in the air…but Floyd Jr. somehow managed to overpower Shane by getting more punches than him. Toward the end of the fight, Floyd Jr. was ahead, but the last round, Mosley caught up to Floyd with the number of punches. Even though Mosley still lost, it was a very close fight. Mosley came this close to beating him.

It was no surprise to me that Floyd Jr. was going to win again. I knew it was going to happen, no matter what. I’m sure there will be a welterweight out there somewhere that is capable of knocking Floyd Jr. to the ground. Floyd Jr’s “Rich & Famous” lifestyle will one day come to an end.

I was surprised for the huge number of celebrity turns outs that attended the audience. Celebrities spotted: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his kids, Mark Wahlberg, Will Smith, Michael J. Fox, Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon, and lots of legendary boxers such as Muhammed Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar De La Hoya were also there.

It was actually a great ppv last night. I enjoyed every boxing fight. I was also impressed with that 19 year old red head fighter who is also undefeated, forgot his name.

Report: Stallone retires “Rambo” for good, planning sequel to “The Expendables”…

In a surprising move, Sylvester Stallone has announced to Empire magazine, that Sly has retired Rambo. The good news is, Sly is already working on a sequel to, “The Expendables”. The upcoming action flick that is about to hit theaters this summer in August.

More on it here:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/17053/stallone-says-rambo-has-retired

It’s kind of too bad that there won’t be another Rambo, but it’s great that Sly wants the “Expendables” to be his next big franchise.

What’s the reason Sly wants the “Expendables” to have a sequel this early? Sly already started working on the sequel even before the first one came out. My bet is that he wants Sly, Arnold and Bruce Willis to star the leading roles in the sequel. Arnie and Bruce only had a small cameo in the first one, but maybe Sly wants them to be in throughout the next movie? Will “Expendables 2” be Arnold’s comeback to leading roles in Hollywood once his governor run is over? All we can do is hope and cross our fingers.

Maybe Sly will also try to get Jean Claude Van Damme and Kurt Russell for the sequel as well. I know those two turned the first movie down, but maybe they will agree with the sequel, who knows. Anything is possible.

Report: Is Ron Howard interested in directing, “The Dark Tower” movie? Seems that he is…

JJ Abrams, Bad Robot, was once attached to make Stephen King’s “Dark Tower” into a movie, but he bailed out, no longer wanting to do it. Now it seems that Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are interested in making it.  Ron Howard’s, Image Entertainment and Akiva Goldman’s Weed Road are in talks to buying the rights to the “Dark Tower” series from Stephen King. Stephen King himself, owns the rights to these “Dark Tower” novels, and Hollywood has been trying to get them made into films for a very long time. Now it looks it maybe finally happening very soon. Will we ever see a “Dark Tower” movie to the big screen? Maybe not right away, but it won’t come out in theaters for the next few years.

I have read all the Dark Tower books and can always see them being films on the big screen, not being on the TV in mini-series movies.

Ron Howard hasn’t been confirmed to direct yet, but maybe he wants the rights ’cause he’s interested in helming the first movie. It’ll be nice if Ron Howard gets back to the action/sci fi roots like he did with the movie “Willow” and others.

Who will play Roland the Gungslinger? I still would like Hugh Jackman to play him, but I have a feeling Howard/Grazer would probably go for no one other than Russell Crowe.

Report: “Commando” remake on it’s way to the big screen…

20th Century Fox has set David Ayer to write and direct the upcoming, “Commando” remake. The 1985 action flick that starred, Arnold.

More on it here:

http://www.deadline.com/2010/04/fox-to-remake-famed-schwarzenegger-pic/

Some may hate the idea of a “Commando” remake, but honestly, I like it. I think “Commando” is one Arnold movie that deserves one. Who will play Arnold’s character, John Matrix? He obviously needs to be big and muscular like Arnold, so they would need a bodybuilder/actor to fit the role. I would think 20th Century Fox would go for a younger actor.

They won’t go for Taylor Lautner ’cause he’s way too young for the role. They need a guy in their 30’s.

My pick is Dwayne Johnson!

Report: Wes Craven finally reveals “Scream 4” plot, also confirms three more sequels…

Just when you thought Wes Craven is done with “Scream”, think again. He plans to do a whole new trilogy of the franchise.  Craven also reveals the plot to the next film, “Scream 4”. Craven explains that the film is set 10 years after the third one. Leaving right off the last one. It tells a story about Sidney Prescott, moving on to a new life,  and she is now an author who wrote a book that got some bad critics. Of course, she can’t stop thinking about her past with the Ghostface killer as there will probably be a lot of flashbacks from the first three films. With it being a Scream movie, she’ll have to confront the killer again, so somewhere in the movie, she probably finds out that he’s still alive.

More on it here:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/17031/wes-craven-talks-scream-4-story

The plot sounds pretty interesting to me. Wes Craven must of been inspired for more story ideas for more Scream sequels. At least they are continuing with him being the director, still. If they continued with a different director, they would be a failure in the box office. Only Craven can do these films.

Report: Steve Carell might leave “The Office” next year…

Steve Carell, star of “The Office” dropped a shocking announcement that he might leave the show next year.

Read more on the story here:

http://popwatch.ew.com/2010/04/28/steve-carell-might-leave-the-office/

“Office” fans like myself might be dissapointed, but hey, Steve has a HUGE movie career up ahead of him. Maybe that’s why he wants to quit ’cause he finally decided he wants to be a full time movie star now.

While he was still playing in “The Office”, Steve did several movies playing the leading roles  which were very successful and big hits in the box office. Movies such as “The 40 Year Old Virgin”, “Get Smart”, “Date Night”, “Little Miss Sunshine”, etc. That’s probably what he wants to do, move on to do movies.

A lot of big movie stars today get their start from TV shows like Tom Hanks (Bossom Buddies), Robin Williams (Mork & Mindy), Adam Sandler (SNL), the list can go on. Steve is on his way there.

“The Office” is my favorite TV show too, but I’m actually proud of him that he’s leaving. He’s a phenomenal actor, always liked him. This guy will win an Oscar one day whenever he picks the right role in the future.

Report: If Billy Corgan knows Courtney can’t write her own songs, it must be true…

Billy Corgan is on a war with Courtney Love. Billy attacks Courtney Love in Twitter, using short sentences flaming her without using her name but you know his posts are aiming at her.

His attacks against Courtney are numbered by “Thoughts”…

Read ’em here:

http://twitter.com/billy

I will not be buying Courtney’s new album. Why buy if she doesn’t write her own music? If Billy didn’t want Courtney using his songs he wrote for her album, then he shouldn’t have done it in the first place.

Film Review: Kick-Ass

Starring: Nicolas Cage, Andrew Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Mark Strong

Directed by: Matthew Vaughn

So I finally got to see the movie “Kick-Ass” today. Here is my review…

Plot/synopsis: Some may think this is an original film, not an adaptation of someone else’s work, but sorry, it is. “Kick-Ass” was adapted by a comic book series created by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. The comic is published by Icon Imprint which is owned by Marvel comics. Taken place in NYC, a young high school student named, Dave, has an obession with comic books. He dreams of becoming a real life superhero himself. So he tries to make it come true by purchasing a green costume off the internet. He then trains to become an actual superhero by working out, learning how to fight, and practising moves on rooftops of buildings. Dave calls himself, “Kick-Ass” as a superhero name. His superhero dreams start to come true once Dave saves a man’s life being chased down by muggers. A leader of a drug gang becomes obsessed with wanting to kill Kick-Ass. Kick-Ass teams up with other superheros, Big Daddy (Nic Cage) and Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) to try and hunt down this gang taking over NYC.

This film wasn’t liked very well by the critics. Many of them call this movie offensive because it had children in a violent movie and swearing, all that. blah blah blah… I never read the “Kick-Ass” comics, but I believe the director’s intention was to stay true to the original comic. The comics had the same thing, kids killing other people and swearing.

I thought the movie was brilliant and entertaining all the way through. Very enjoyable movie. I think Hit-Girl, Chloe’s character stoled the show. She was the most entertaining and she is only like 10 or 12 years old. She kills people and says a lot of F-words. I think this is Nic Cage’s best role in a long time. Many people hate Nicolas Cage, but I don’t. I’ve always liked him. Always thought his acting style was interesting and different. Plus, I like Cage’s knowledge with comics. What impressed me about Nic Cage in this film was that he did an Adam West impression in the film dressed as Batman.

The action sequences were a lot of fun to watch. When Hit-Girl gets into action, she’ll do all kinds of crazy moves and use all kinds of crazy weapons. Nic Cage’s character, Big-Daddy, has an obsession with guns, not gadgets like Batman. I thought the film was real good. It didn’t bore me and no dissapointments. Just a fun flick, that’s all it is. After seeing this film makes me want to read the comics.

It maybe offensive with children in a violent movie, and you will see adults beating children up in this film, but hey, it’s only a movie, right? It might anger parents, of course, but controversial films like this helps draw people into see the movie. Controversy creates cash. Controversy creates popularity. I liked the film a lot. This is all I have to say about it. See it soon.

Score for “Kick-Ass” = *** (3 stars as in “good”)
