BREAKING NEWS: Nicolas Chartier banned from the Oscars!!!

One of the producers of “The Hurt Locker” is banned from attending the Oscars this Sunday. Why is this you may ask? For simply talking trash about “Avatar” in an e-mail to Academy voters. Nicolas may have apologized and said he’s still attending the Oscars but not anymore. Sounds like the Academy doesn’t accept his apology. People have the right to be opinionated when it comes to film, yes, but when it comes to Oscar voting time, it is not allowed. It’s against the rules.

This Nicolas Chartier has been creating controversy in the media as of late. I don’t think this will hurt the chance of “The Hurt Locker” winning, so don’t worry about it.

Roger Ebert on Oprah earlier today…

Today, I watched Roger Ebert’s appearance on Oprah. It almost makes you want to feel sad and happy for him at the same time. Why happy for Roger Ebert even if he’s been battling thyroid cancer? Because he continues to be a happy person, living life to the fullest no matter his condition. Ebert explained that he could get his lower jaw back by surgery but Ebert explained on the show that he had enough with surgeries. He is willing to live his life without a lower jaw. He is still alive today because his wife Chaz wouldn’t let him die and she did whatever it took to keep him alive to this day. Even if he can no longer eat and drink, she somehow makes him continue to live.

I remember I used to hate Roger Ebert as a critic, but now I support him for this reason. He’s now an inspiration.

Everyone knows he’s going to die soon, you just never know when. They haven’t explained how Roger stays alive when he can’t eat or drink, they’ve been private about that part for whatever reason. He may not even die of the cancer, he might even die of starvation even before the cancer kills him for good.

My favorite part of Roger’s interview with Oprah was when he gave his predictions on the Oscars. Even Roger thinks “The Hurt Locker” will win Best Picture and Kathryn Bigelow will win for Best Director. “The Hurt Locker” is winning mad at other award shows. Sorry James Cameron but looks like “Avatar” is not gonna get much at the Oscars this weekend. The only award I see “Avatar” winning at the Oscars this Sunday is for Best Cinematography/Visual Effects, that’s it. It looks like “The Hurt Locker” will sweep everything.

At least Roger can still see and hear which gives him the power to go to the movies all the time like he always had. I don’t like Oprah too much but today’s Oprah show was actually a good one.

Cool Video: Dream Theater’s “Raw Dog” from “God of War III” soundtrack…

Here is the full track of Dream Theater’s new song exclusively released to the “God of War III: Blood & Metal” soundtrack only. Check it out. I’ve been a longtime fan of Dream Theater and this is the best they’ve ever been. It’s instrumental, so no vocals. I love the track.

Most video game soundtracks suck ass, but the video gaming industry finally made a good one.  The “God of War III” soundtrack includes bands from the prog and metal genres. It includes everyone from Dream Theater, Opeth, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, etc.

Check it out. Excellent musicianship in this song. Amazing guitar playing by John Petrucci.

Film Review: Shutter Island

Starring: Leonardo Dicaprio, Ben Kingsley, Max Von Sydow, Michelle Williams, and Jackie Earle Haley

Directed by: Martin Scorsese

Today on a day off of work, I finally got to see, “Shutter Island” the newest collaboration of Martin Scorsese and Leonardo Dicaprio. Before the movie, I did a little shopping at Best Buy. I bought Ozzy Osbourne’s new book, “I am Ozzy” and picked up the game “Heavy Rain” for the PS3. I will talk about that stuff in another post, but lets go on with this review:

Plot/Synopsis: Leonardo Dicaprio plays a cop named, Teddy Daniels, he was also a former US Marshall. Teddy goes to Shutter Island with partner, Chuck Aule who is played by Mark Ruffalo. The two cops go to the Ashecliff Hospital on the Island to investigate a patient who disappeared from a locked room. This is a hospital for the insane, it is not a prison. Teddy and Chuck were on a case to help find a missing patient named, Rachel Solando. Rachel was put in the hospital a long while back because she drowned her own three children in a lake by her home. Dr. John Cawley (Ben Kingley’s role) who is the head psychiatrist of the hospital wants Teddy and Chuck to help him find Rachel and bring her back to the hopsital alive. As Teddy and Chuck investigate, they begin to find strange and uncomfortable things about this hospital.

This film “Shutter Island” was actually made in the year 2008. It was supposed to be released last year around Halloween, I remember, but the film got pushed back to the month of Feb. of this year. So it’s been a long time. This is a film we’ve all been waiting for and it’s finally here.

On with the film, I thought the film was very impressive for a lot of reasons. It was a perfect movie. Is it a horror flick? I would think so. The storytelling of this movie is what impressed me the most. I liked the acting, the cinematography, the musical score was also great, but it’s the story that’s what got to me. The story to this movie was very dark. I think it’s the darkest movie Scorsese has ever done. Yes, Scorsese has done some pretty dark films over the years, but this one is totally different than his earlier films. Scorsese has done thrillers/horrors before like “Cape Fear” for example. So he’s no stranger to doing dark films.

The story kept you at the edge of your seat. You just want more and more. Never know what is going to happen next ’cause the film was very unpredictable. You think this is going to happen and that will happen, but nope, something else happens. I love films like that! I don’t want to talk about the whole movie ’cause there are some huge shockers toward the end of the movie.

This is Leo’s best acting in a long time too. Some may not appreciate him because Leo haters think he’s the type of actor that women drool over, but Leo’s role in this film I think was aimed at the “male” audience and not toward the women this time. This was more of a guy Leo Dicaprio movie, not a chick flick Leo Dicaprio movie. Hope you know what I mean by that. This is not the best Martin Scorsese flick ever made but it certainly is one of my favorites and it certainly is the best Scorsese/Dicaprio movie for sure.

If you like a good bone chilling horror flick, this is a good one for you. I’ll warn you, a flick like this will get you talking  and will get you thinking to yourself like, “wtf?” I mean, when the movie got over with and “Directed by Martin Scorsese” poppped up on the screen at the end of the film, the theater was dead silent for like ten minutes, then people started talking to each other. That’s how incredibly shocking this movie is. Do yourself a favor and see this soon.

Score for “Shutter Island” = **** (4 stars as in “Excellent”)

Olympics Hockey – USA vs. Canada earlier tonight…

Yes, I did watch it. The final Hockey game which is also the last Olympics game of this year’s Winter season. I’ll tell ya that I was never that much of a hockey fan. I watched the whole game today. It was an amazing game. I never felt that thrilled in a sports game before. I mean, tonight’s hockey game at the Olympics was almost like the Superbowl but it was even better. Yes, the hockey game today was that amazing. It was unbelievable. THRILLING! HISTORY MAKING!

While I’m sad USA didn’t win the game, Canada does deserve the win though since the Olympics was in their home country.

I love the Olympics this year over all though. I watched it every day and every night as much as I can. Lots of history making with all athletes and games. Lindsey Vonn and Shaun White were a hit for me. I’ll admit that Johnny Weir is impressive and talented even though that guy is weird.

It was a very good year of the Winter Olympics. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Watching the Closing Ceremony as I type this and I’m happy that Neil Young performed this time.

Celebrity suicides is going up quickly and shows what fame and fortune can do to you…

First Alexander McQueen. Then Andrew Koenig. Then Marie Osmond’s son, Michael, all three committed suicide. Just more evidence and proof of what fame and celebrity fortune can do to you. I’ve explained lots of times that being rich and famous may sound like a blast and it may be a dream come true but “fame and fortune” can be very dangerous if you’re careful. Fame and fortune can lead you to a lot of dangerous things. It can lead you to depression, lead you to drugs, suicide, etc.

I know so many people out there want “fame”. In my opinion, “fame” wouldn’t be so glorious and fun. Dealing with the industry like that would be too much of a headache to me. Going through the media and press, I don’t see the point in any of it.

Yes, it’s possible that famous people can live a good and happy life but I’m sure most of them don’t even like fame. They just do it for the love of working on their careers whether it’s acting or music, whatever. There’s a lot of risks in fame and fortune. If fame and fortune is what you want, I would think twice and look at all these celebrity deaths that happened in the past. Lots of young famous actors has died over drug overdoses (Heath Ledger, perfect example) and all that.

If you get fame, you won’t get the privacy you want because being world known, that means you are world known publicly. I don’t think I can handle fame at all. In my opinion, fame is what’s destroying the entertainment business. If you like making music and making movies, you don’t need fame to do all that. Just be happy what you do in your career even if you don’t get fame.

God of War III

So “God of War III” is coming out just around the corner. The game hits stores, March 16th. This is why I have started playing the first “God of War” game. I have the “God of War: Collection” with the first two games in one disc for the PS3.  I wanna beat the first two “God of War” games before the 3rd one comes out. So far, I’m fucking loving these games! These games are so incredible. I think the GOW series is better than the Tomb Raider and Resident Evil games. The “GOW” games is so addicting and the gameplay to those games are such a blast, so much fun to play. The storylines and graphics are actually very impressive. Great musical scoring in the games too. Not only that, these games actually have female nudity. Yep, topless women that expose their breasts and all that in the games. There will probably be nudity in “God of War III” as well. Not only that it is cool that there is naked women in these games, more importantly these are good games overall.

The music soundtrack for “God of War III: Blood & Metal” sounds interesting, ’cause the soundtrack has a bunch of metal bands on it. Dream Theater has a new song on it and it’s an instrumental called “Raw Dog” which I can’t wait to hear. The song is in the game too.

“God Of War III” has been my most anticipated game for a long time and glad it’s finally coming. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy.

As for “Bioshock 2”, I bought that one already a while ago, but haven’t started it yet ’cause I want to finish the God of War series first. Then I’ll move on to “Bioshock 2”. I’ve been playing “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” online for a long while the week before, but then I figure I would start the God Of War games before the 3rd one comes out. I never played the “GOW’ trilogy before and wanted to play them in order so I can know the storyline and all that. If you’re looking forward to “GOW III” yourself, I’d suggest you play the first two before that one. It’s the best thing to do so you can understand the story.

Report: Coco furious over butt-cleavage photo taken down in myspace…

Coco, who is the wife of actor and rapper Ice-T, put up a controversial photo of herself, in her official myspace page, which clearly showed her ass crack. She wasn’t wearing panties or nothing under her white dress, when she was out partying at a nightclub. The photo was taken down by the staff of myspace. She went to her twitter page to complain. The internet and her fans are also furious that it was taken down. People are supporting her and defending her of that photo.

Read more on it here:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/26/cocos-butt-crack-off-mysp_n_478548.html

Why did myspace take down her photo? If you think that she had the right to put up that photo, then you are so wrong.

My guess on why it was taken down, is because, it broke the rules of the TOS of myspace, read up:

http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=misc.terms

The rule falls under 8 – 8.4.

There you go, there’s your answer. Myspace doesn’t accept nudity of any kind, even if it’s just a simple butt-cleavage. They take the rules of the TOS very seriously on everybody, even with celebrities that have their own myspace pages. Myspace don’t care how big or famous you are, they will treat celebrities the same way they treat people who are not famous.

And on top of that, Coco is a fake plastic bitch anyways. Nothing more of a Barbie doll.

Report: Black Sabbath trademark war gets the greenlight to the court room…

In May of 2009, Ozzy Osbourne filed lawsuit against guitarist Tony Iommi, both men who were members of the legendary metal band, Black Sabbath. Tony Iommi is currently full owner of the Black Sabbath band name, 100%. Ozzy is upset because he feels that all 4 members of the band (also includes Geezer Butler and Bill Ward) deserves part ownership of the name, “Black Sabbath”. The judge gives this lawsuit the “ok”, that means the war is on. This battle will go to the court room.

Things already gotten heated in the court room today as it sounds like Tony Iommi is not very happy with Ozzy ’cause Iommi’s lawyer is fighting back. Both Ozzy and Tony themselves weren’t in court today, their lawyers were. When the lawsuit proceeds to battle, maybe Tony and Ozzy will be in court personally?

Tony may own the band name, yes, but Ozzy helped him create the name. See how Ozzy would be upset? Ozzy wrote the song “Black Sabbath” for their debut album, they got the name from a horror film that starred Boris Karloff with the same title. So that’s proof that Ozzy came up with the name himself and the rest of the guys agreed to use it. Also, please try to understand that the four guys in Black Sabbath created a huge legacy over the years, that’s another reason that Ozzy feels every member deserves share of the name.

I’m totally siding with Ozzy. He’s so right. This is going to be quite the interesting war and I’ll be keeping an eye on it. I hope Ozzy wins. I’m sure he will.

Tripsonic returns but I think they still need a better singer…

Well, the Albany’s local original rock band, Tripsonic is back (again, I lost count how many times they split and returned) officially. I was anticipating for the return of Tripsonic ’cause they are a band that I liked. While I’m glad that the band is back, only thing I’m dissapointed in is that new singer. In my opinion, she’s not good. She’s singing way out of key. Sounds very amatuerish. She doesn’t fit. If Tripsonic wants to return with a BANG, I’d suggest getting someone else that can sing. I just hope this is not just a “practice” that it was just an audition. Nothing wrong with the band playing the music though. The band plays their instruments wonderfully and they are pretty tight playing in a band. My only problem is that chick singer. Come on dudes, I would go out and support Tripsonic if they can get someone else with the great vocal chops that actually fits the band. This is not a good performance, I don’t care if it’s practice or not.
