Was the new U2 album really FREE??? Technically, it wasn’t…

It may seem like that Bono have joined the free music movement but in reality, he hasn’t. Technically, the album wasn’t free at all. Apple paid the band U2 for this. I bet Apple paid U2 a lot of money for this, I mean a lot of money… possibly millions. Why did Bono agree to try to give this album away for free?

Simply because he feels the charts today are broken and I agree. He’s another one who feels that today’s music industry isn’t the same anymore.

After U2 giving away their album for a free download on Itunes, I have a feeling that more bands & artists will follow. This could be an ongoing trend in Itunes.

I’ve just downloaded the new U2 album. I couldn’t download it on my Ipod Touch ’cause I didn’t have IOS7 on there yet but my Ipad does have IOS7 so I downloaded it for the Ipad instead.

I’ll give the new album a listen this week and will give it a review.

Trying to improve lead guitar…

Playing fast licks and shredding may sound a lot of fun… I like that stuff too but you don’t want to obsess with playing fast notes. That’s one problem that a lot of guitarists have… they obsess with playing fast just to try and impress people. If you really want to impress people and melt faces with your guitar playing, why not focus on phrasing? I’ve explained what “phrasing” is before. “Phrasing” means sounding musical… like someone singing a song. If you wanna impress people… make people feel goosebumps over your playing, you have to make your lead guitar playing sound like it’s singing a song. This is what made Satriani, Hendrix, Jeff Beck and SRV so great ’cause they were good at “phrasing”. This is one thing I need to get worked on. Trying to improve my “phrasing”. This is why I’m just starting to record my own rhythm playing and jam leads over it so I can practice my “phrasing”. Shredding is nice but it’s over-rated.

I’m so glad that I decided to take lead guitar seriously and take learning music theory too. Music theory really does help and it does help you become a better lead guitarist. I’m learning a lot. I’m starting to learn how to apply scales to chord changes and key changes and all that stuff. I’ve learned the CAGED system and learned how arpeggios relate to that. Learned how pentatonic scales relate to the CAGED system. Thanks to the two “Fretboard Theory” books by Desi Serna which I recommend to every guitarist out there. Those books are really helping me.

I have all the chops and techniques I learned in lead guitar like hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, bends, vibratos, double-stops, etc. — I can play all the licks well… I just need to get better at the ear training and improvisation part which that is also getting worked on.

The key to improving ear training and pitch is memorizing the sound of the notes in your head. I’m trying to do just that and getting better at that as well. It’s a struggle but if you don’t give up, it’ll pay off.

I’m getting kind of bored of acoustic guitar and kind of wanna focus on electric more. I wanna start writing some of my own rock n’ roll songs sometime down the road. Not metal but maybe hard rock, yes. I don’t have the singing voice for “metal” even though I love the genre. I’ll just play just regular original hard rock kind of in the likes of Led Zep, Soundgarden and Sabbath maybe.

My guitar playing is kind of Jimmy Page-like a little bit ’cause I spent many years listening and studying his playing. Other than Led Zeppelin, I have listened to many other of Page’s projects. I’ve listened to his playing for many years.

Yeah, I’m taking lead guitar very seriously. Playing along with a metronome and trying to memorize the sound of each note. Learning scales and all that stuff.

I’m very “serious” of becoming an actual musician. I’m having fun learning and practicing.

If I wanna get backing tracks for my original rock songs… maybe I’ll just forget the MIDI bullshit and get real musicians. I’d like to collaborate with other musicians for my songs sometime down the road.

Another hint that Obama WAS born in Kenya…

Check this out…

The BNA in the UK have discovered some archived files where they found that an unnamed son of Barack Obama Sr. who was born in Kenya in 1961. It does show the birthdate of the “unnamed” son which is Aug. 4th, 1961 (Obama’s birthday). It doesn’t show Obama Jr.’s name, though so that is not really official proof… but it’s a hint that the “unnamed” son could be Obama Jr., though.

Damn…. Obama Sr. and Ann Dunham hid his info VERY WELL.

Report: British National Archives show a son was born to Obama Sr. in 1961 in Kenya

New “Hunger Games: Mockingjay” poster released…

Think Jennifer’s nude photo hacking scandal damaged her career? Nope!!!! It only helped her make her bigger and more powerful!!! She just made the Guinness Book of World Records and she’s about to release the next Hunger Games movie, “Mockinjay”.

The next Hunger Games movie will get even more people to see it. I’m sure a lot more men will go see this movie and I’m sure Jennifer won a lot more male fans ’cause of the nude photo leaks. I’m sure she’s won some lesbian fans too (hehehe…).

Looking forward to the next Hunger games movie. I saw the first two in theater and I will see the next two in theater as well (“Mockinjay” is split into two parts).

Gene Simmons clarifies himself in facebook about his “Rock is Dead” comments…

“ROCK IS DEAD – that was the headline in a recent interview I did, of course, taken out of context. That’s okay.

It’s still true.

Name a rock band in the last 30 years that has risen to iconic level. Nirvana? Anyone else?

Name iconic rock acts in the first 30 years – from 1958 through 1988 – ELVIS, THE BEATLES, THE STONES, LED ZEPPELIN, PINK FLOYD, SPRINGSTEEN, AC/DC, METALLICA and MOTOWN, and countless more.

Yesterday KISS headlined a terrific event called FASHION ROCKS. It was on CBS.

There were some terrific acts on the bill. Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, sure, band called Perry, and many more. Including hosting by Justin Bieber and various models.

Honestly, even though the event is called FASHION ROCKS, and even though KISS closed the show and headlined….. THIS WAS THE ONE AND ONLY ROCK BAND ON THE ENTIRE BILL.

Defense rests, your Honor.”

When I defended Gene SImmons about his “Rock his dead” comments, he said the same thing I said. In this day and age of the industry, the “iconic” status doesn’t go to rock acts anymore. The iconic “status” are going to pop, rap and country artists these days.

While I do agree that Nirvana was one of the only bands in the last 30 years who reached the iconic status… I can certainly name a few more… the Foo Fighters for starters. Pearl Jam is another one. Soundgarden? Metallica? Megadeth? Slayer? Radiohead? Red Hot Chilli Peppers?

Stone Temple Pilots had something going for their first couple of albums but their career went downhill later.

What can we do to make the music industry respect “rock n’ roll” again? The industry relies on pop, rap and country ’cause it sells. Rock doesn’t.

I hear him, though. Today’s industry is a joke… I’ve been saying it for a long time.

Like I said before, it’s getting tougher to buy good music ’cause pop music is dominating the industry like mad. I have a tough time trying to find new rock music that is good but I do happen to find good rock music lately like Black Label Society is a great band for example, they’re not really iconic yet but they’re fantastic. I love Zakk Wylde’s guitar playing and songwriting.

A metal band called, Ghost. B.C., is pretty new and they are a great band who deserves mainstream success but we know they’ll never get it.

Blues guitarist, Joe Bonamassa, deserves mainstream success ’cause he’s a killer guitar player!!! He’s so underrated, he’ll never get the mainstream success ’cause nobody cares about the blues. He throws some rock n’ roll into his music too.

I’ve been saying this stuff for a long time that rock n’ roll will NEVER get mainstream again. Gene is so right!!!  Get over it!

U2 finally releases their new album but they release it for FREE on Itunes!!!

Suddenly, U2 appeared out of the blue and announced they just finally released their new album titled, “Songs of Innocence”. Even though I stopped liking U2 for a while, I’ll check this album out as long as it’s free. Why not? I listened to a few clips of the album and it actually sounds pretty good. Look like they got their old-school sound back which is what I wanted from the band. I’m interested in hearing it ’cause they did a tribute for the Ramones on the album, they dedicated a song for them.

Why are they releasing this album for free? Simply because it’s in celebration of their 10 year team up with Apple.

I purchased the free album but it’s not in my Itunes library yet but on the U2 Itunes page, it says it will be soon so I guess we’ll have to wait.

It’s funny, ya know… I could have sworn that U2 said they weren’t gonna release an album this year but guess they decided to release it earlier. Looking forward to hearing it, though!

I’ve heard every U2 album in their entire career. I just like their older stuff more than their new stuff.

Book Review: “Murder of the Middle Class” by Wayne Allyn Root

Yesterday, I just finished reading Wayne Allyn Root’s latest book, “Murder of the Middle Class”. I have been curious about this book for a while now since the book was being hyped in the world of conservative politics.

There are a lot of anti-Obama and conspiracy theory books out there but this is not one of them. Well, there is quite a lot of Obama bashing in this book and Wayne calls out Obama on a lot of stuff but this book really isn’t about Obama. This book focuses mostly on the economics kind of stuff. Wayne explains in detail of how the economics is getting destroyed in which he calls, “Murder of the Middle Class”.

He explains how and why our economics is such a disaster. He knows what Obama’s plans and goals are ’cause him and Obama go way back. They were college class mates at Columbia University. Even though, these two never met… Wayne studied Obama’s behavior and attitude since then. You know how Obama is known as a liar, fraud, communist, and Marxist that he is today??? Well, Obama wasn’t that much different back in his college years. Obama has always been a liar, fraud ever since his college years, he never changed.

I’m glad I read this book ’cause Wayne woke me up on a lot more stuff about Obama and the economics of this country. He also teaches you how to save yourself from economic disaster and teaches you how to defeat Obamacare and Obama himself.

Anybody who says the economy is in good shape is delusional and lying. If you really believe that the economics is currently good, then you gotta stop reading fake economic reports that the White House sends out. I know the economics is in horrible shape right now and getting worse ’cause why do you think I still don’t have a job??? Even though I’m not working currently still, I still continue to live my life, be happy and do the things I like to do like playing my music, working out in the gym, reading books, watching a good movie or a TV show, etc. Yeah, I still get some help and stuff but that’s because of my scoliosis and “physical” disability and things like that. I’m still am the most conservative person on the planet, though. I do believe in “personal responsibility” ’cause I do take care of myself. I buy my own groceries, I make most of my own meals, I eat healthy, work out in the gym, and live life the way I want to… all that “personal responsibility”. To hell with all the doubters who keep accusing me of being liberal ’cause it’s all bullshit.

I don’t need Obamacare to take care of me ’cause I’m good. Anybody who actually enrolled into Obamacare, be prepared to get your life destroyed and be ready for government control. I’m never signing up for Obamacare no matter what happens. Throw me in jail, tax me, whatever. I’m not signing up even if I had to. Obamacare is a huge part of why this economics and Middle Class is a disaster.

Wayne’s book is worth reading and should be read by every American, be it, either liberal or conservative.

I would give the book a 4.5/5.

Wow… AmpliTube just rocks!!! To hell with garageband!!!

I spent most of the day working on AmpliTube. I got the DAW app that came with it (which was an extra $12.99 but worth it). I think AmpliTube freakin’ kicks ass! It has a more professional sound than garageband. It’s easier to record drums behind your playing too!

I think I’m gonna keep using AmpliTube for recording from now on and think I’m gonna delete garageband off of my Ipad.

I think I can make some pretty cool rock songs w/ AmpliTube.

Here’s a little jam that I just made up. Me jamming the A Major Pentatonic Scale over the simple A and G chord progression.

AmpliTube is designed to make full band music with.

Now I wish I have a bass guitar and I could record real bass with it. I still would like to buy a real bass guitar of my own someday. Maybe soon I’ll start saving up for one.

For now, I’ll just record rock n’ roll songs with guitar and drums.

As you can probably hear, I think I’m capable enough of playing some pretty good lead guitar solos… I just gotta improve the ear training part of it, though which is what I’m working on.

Soon I’ll start writing electric guitar rock songs with vocals.

Kev

Speaking of “Ghostbusters III” what are they gonna do with the theme song???

Since “Ghostbusters III” is finally moving forward, I wonder what Sony is planning to do with the theme song. Will they bring back the original Ray Parker Jr. song? I think they should.

Of course, it wouldn’t surprise me that Sony would give “Ghostbusters 3” that song another version. I remember in “Ghostbusters 2”, they had Run DMC do a remix version. Will they give the theme another version for “G III”???

I wouldn’t be surprised that since the 4 Ghostbusters will be all female, they’ll give the Ray Parker Jr. song a pop music version like have Lady Gaga or Rihanna sing a version. Give the version electric beats and sounds. They’ll make this version that’ll sound like the current pop music of today.

I do hope they keep the original theme, though. We’ll have to wait and see what they’re gonna do with the theme song.
