As you can see on the looks of their faces, you can tell they are pretty thrilled and stoked to have received this honor. Bill and Hillary Clinton joins them in this photo. I’ll be on the lookout for more pics.

The reason Led Zeppelin is appearing on Letterman this Monday night, is not only to help plug in the “Celebration Day” BluRay/DVD/CD release, it is also because Letterman is being honored at the Kennedy Center today too, along with Zeppelin.
We ALL know Letterman is going to ask them about an upcoming tour, and maybe Led Zeppelin will finally squash the tour speculation. Still though, the band could confirm a tour by saying, “Yes, we’re doing it”, out of the blue, just to put out an unexpected surprise. They could be keeping that confirmed tour top secret from us, all along, but I doubt it, though. So don’t get your hopes up. They’re probably gonna deny a tour, again for the 100th time. They’re probably just gonna talk about the Cebebration Day release, the Kennedy Center honors, and the career of Led Zeppelin.
Of course, there’s a possibility, they might perform on television too, so keep our fingers crossed on that.

Led Zeppelin posted this photo today, of the Celebration Day blimp flying over the White House. I believe it was the same blimp that was flying over the Dallas Cowboys, stadium. The Zeppelin blimp flying over the White House, is not photoshopped.
I almost forgot that Led Zeppelin is being honored at the Kennedy Center tomorrow, that’s why the Zeppelin blimp flew over the White House today. I hear that the band, Led Zeppelin will meet with President Obama himself, I believe?
Anyway, as much as I don’t like President Obama, I’ll give him respect for this one time. Even if Led Zeppelin is from the U.K., the band created American history, so this honor is very deserving for Led Zeppelin. I wonder if Led Zeppelin, will perform a few songs tomorrow in D.C.? Wouldn’t surprise me if they will.

One last thing I needed to get off my chest, and then I’ll shut up about this.
Ya know. Maybe if I had years of experience of playing gigs and maybe if my music was played on a professional level, maybe other musicians would take my advice, and opinions more seriously, then. I completely understand. This is probably the reason why I’m having trouble helping out others…this is probably why they ridicule me after. Still though, we should put our ego’s aside, and help each other out as a musicians community. I kind of would like the same success other bands are getting, but it would be awesome if they can help us get there. I mean, just because you have more professional experience, than me, does not really mean you should put us down. We should all be able to help each other, and that’s what I see this as.
If other bands don’t need my help, that’s fine, but as long as I spoke my mind and got things off my chest of what I had to say to them, my job is done. I don’t feel any regrets.
I’m a big local music supporter. You should know that, since I like to plug a lot of local bands and artists on here if I like their music. I enjoy meeting new musicians and people in the scene. I like to go out and see gigs of other bands sometimes. I have been a part of local music for years, so this is why I feel it’s deserving to be honest about stuff. I’ve been a part of local music since the 90’s, but didn’t start playing out ’til about 2004, I believe.
I have been criticized in return, musicians claiming I have no experience or worse, talking crap about my music, which is what I’m used to. If that’s the best response musicians can come up with, then that proves that we don’t have a very positive music scene.
I guess it’s pointless, trying to help other musicians. I’ll just concentrate on my own music, and my own music alone. I don’t have to prove anything. Stay out of everyone’s way and my music life will be much easier.

So Metallica, the kings of metal, announced this shocking news out of no where, that they have left Warner Music, and started their own record label, called, Blackened. The band also revealed that they have taken all of their original master recordings of all of their albums, and including videos. They took everything with them. That includes their Dec. 10th release of “Quebec Magnetic” BluRay/DVD.
See the news, here.
While Metallica, doesn’t get into details of what they’re planning with the master recordings of their albums and videos, I’m assuming that they are planning on re-releasing everything for better quality. I mean, people are always complaining about the sound quality of Metallica albums, and maybe this is the whole point? Re-release all the albums, so they can sound much better. The same with the videos for better picture and sound quality.
Not only this, the band also wants complete control over their songwriting. With them being signed under a major label before, their producers helps write them the songs. The band having their own label, more creative freedom in the songwriting process. I’m actually looking forward to what Metallica is going to sound like, now they won’t be a part of the major labels anymore. The band could sound different and have potential to bring back thrash metal, if they wanted.
Yep, with a band or artist signed with a major label, you don’t have full control of your music anymore. The label does. This is a smart move Metallica did, and honestly, they should have done this a long time ago, after the “Black” album.
I’m sure Metallica is getting negative criticism at this move, calling the band sellouts, and all, but I think this is a good idea. I’ll always stay loyal to Metallica, no matter what the haters think. Congrats to Metallica. I support them on this.

If you really think that I’m trying to minimize the success of other bands, when I call out their unprofessional behaviors, then that just shows that you don’t deserve to be a musician or even be playing in a band to begin with. In reality, it shows that you are a complete failure at music and has gotten nowhere with it. If you were as big and successful as you say you are, then you wouldn’t be on here writing all that stuff to some blogger on the internet. If you were a real musician, out there making a living and being successful, you wouldn’t have time for any of this online drama that these bands constantly get themselves into. You would be out there focusing on the music, 24/7. Making albums, touring, and busy promoting yourselves. If these bands think they are so successful, then they wouldn’t be replying to me trying to defend themselves, so they can make themselves look better than I am with their musical resumes.
You see, nobody cares about your resumes. Nobody really cares if you shared the stage with this band or that band, and nobody really cares if you traveled across the states or even the world. Your resumes and the opportunities you got in the past, does not give you the respect as a musician. That’s why musicians constantly talk about their resumes to everyone, ’cause it’s their way of showing off, to make themselves look good. Don’t get me wrong, congratulations on all those opportunities and success, all that stuff is great, but that’s not the only way to earn respect toward you as a musician.
The way to earn respect, is just play your music. That’s it. Just play the music, let the music, speak on it’s own and the respect from the people around you will come on it’s own, that way. Like I said before, respect doesn’t fall in your lap. You can’t force it into you. Bands are so full of themselves, and the way they promote themselves in facebook, just proves it.
It would be nice if the local music scene would treat each other as a community. Help each other move forward and achieve our dreams, but nope. Sure enough, everyone wants to think they’re better than everyone else ’cause they opened for national acts or played on some big festivals or toured overseas. Like I said before in one of the comments in the previous post, as a local musician, nobody is bigger than anybody. We’re a local musicians community. We’re all the same. There’s really no such thing as rock star around here. Of course, in this day and age of the internet, everyone wants to make themselves look like a rock star.
I’m a fan of local music. I’m a musician myself. I’ve had gigging experience. I’ve worked with live bands at shows before, so I know how it’s all done. I do have plenty of experience even though people would want to think, I have none. And yes, acoustic performing can be considered gigging just like the full bands. Some would mistakenly believe that acoustic performances are “open mics”, but yes, an acoustic performance is a gig.
Definition of a gig from a dictionary:
A light two-wheeled carriage pulled by one horse.
A live performance by or engagement for a musician or group playing popular music.
A harpoonlike device used for catching fish or frogs.”
Whether acoustic or full band, it’s considered a gig. Doesn’t matter what you think of it.
I’m not saying that I play better than everyone else. Not saying that I’m just as big as everyone else. I’m just saying that musicians need to leave their egos at the door. It’s a turn off for me. It’s not cool. It doesn’t make you look better. Bands think they don’t have an ego but a lot of them really do. We’re not celebrities or stars, folks. We’re just a local resident who plays music just like everyone else. Some may have more experience, but that doesn’t make them any better.
I’m a big fan of quite several established acts out there not just, EBJ. I just don’t like getting accused of destroying other bands success and goals. That’s not my intention. I only look out to them.
The reason I take band professionalism very seriously is not only ’cause I want to make my money’s worth, I also want to make sure if they’re worthy enough of sharing a gig with them. I have experience sharing the stage with other acoustic acts and yes, I’ve opened for plenty of full bands too! Soon, I will get myself back out there doing the live gigging thing all over again, whenever I get new songs together. When I do, you should expect me to write brutally honest reviews of all shows that I have been a part of, like I’ve always done. Nothing wrong with it.
I’m noticing that my local music discussions is getting more views and more action, which is feeling good. I’m leaving the comments closed on this topic, ’cause I just wanted to rant some more. Enjoy, and your welcome.

Well, since Itunes11 has been released this week, I decided to update it to that today and give it a try to see how it is. Much to my surprise, it’s very impressive! The library is much more organized. It’s easier to find things and easier to look at, than the older versions. I haven’t really checked out the whole program and all the features quite yet, but so far, I’m liking what I’m seeing. It’s awesome stuff. My only gripe with it that the music skips a lot while you’re browsing the web at the same time, so hopefully Apple gets that fixed soon. It probably does that ’cause Itunes11 is so huge in size, over 80MB, pretty big software. Other than that, Itunes11 is great and think they did a good job.

The Hollywood Reporter, compiled a list of the 25 most Powerful Authors list. Authors who created a huge impact in the entertainment industry. I pretty much agree with the list. They did a good job. It doesn’t surprise me at all, to see that Stephen King, tops the list. Why? Because Stephen King, is the King!
The only thing I disagree with though, that Stephenie Meyer doesn’t belong in the top ten. J.K. Rowling deserves to be no. 10, not 11.
Anyhow, Stephen deserves to be on top, because he has been a dominating force in the entertainment industry for years. Not just with books, through movies, and TV. Even the comics! The man is even an actor and screenwriter himself. He is multi-talented.
I have collected, most of Stephen King’s books over the years. It took me years to collect his work, ever since I was a kid. It’s hard to find his classic books these days ’cause the book industry changed. You can’t find his classic editions of his older novels anymore. I only need 8 books left to get, which are the really hard to find ones. I’m a Stephen King fanatic. This guy has changed my life. While a lot of his movies suck, it’s his books that matters.
King continues to dominate the industry to this day.
I’ve been re-reading the Dark Tower series, ’cause I’ve wanted to be reminded of the plot, plus those stories are so good and addicting. Ron Howard is planning those “Dark Tower” movies, and would like to re-learn the story again.
The Hollywood Reporter did a smart thing putting King on top. If he wasn’t no. 1 on this list, that would be insane. Congrats to Mr. King. I’m sure he’s flattered and proud.
Check out the list, here.

I haven’t been writing any songs lately ’cause I’m more focused on playing better guitar. Trying to get better at lead guitar and rhythm playing. I want to be great at both. I’m not looking to be the next guitar genius or anything, but I do want to improve so I can be taken seriously as a musician and guitar player. I’ve been focusing on modes, theory stuff, improvisation/ear training, and practicing my rhythm with a metronome a lot more often now. I figure if I want to improve as a songwriter, I need to get better at the instrument.
I’m thinking of getting away from the rock n’ roll thing for a while and start listening to some blues & jazz music. Listening to blues & jazz would help, I think. If I want to be a great rock n’ roll guitarist, I need to listen to more blues and jazz. I have been a little bit, but I need to listen to a lot more. I do want to be a great lead guitarist and just taking my time. Not rushing ’cause there’s so much to learn.
If I want to play in a band, I need to become an actual musician, ’cause I’ll admit, I’m not the greatest guitar player in the world, but I do want to become great though.
I feel I’m an “alright” musician, but could be a lot better and working on it.
Another thing, I don’t even like my singing too much, and even thought about giving it up and just play instrumentals, like Joe Satriani or Jeff Beck. Not sure yet. been thinking about it for a long time now.

Even if Hugh Jackman still has James Mangold’s, “The Wolverine“, coming out in 2013, which I plan to see, he’s not yet, done with the character. Jackman is currently in negotiations, to return as the Wolverine once again in Singer’s, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” the sequel to “X-Men: First Class”. Jackman has played the Wolverine character too much. From the original X-Men trilogy to the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” film.
How much longer is Jackman planning to keep playing this character? The man is 44 years old now, and I can see him stopping somewhere at 55 – 60. He is talented and I can’t see no one else playing the Wolverine but, Jackman.
The Wolverine has always been my favorite Marvel character. He must love this character too much and you can tell. Will Jackman’s appearance in “Days of Future Past” will be a big one? I don’t think so, sounds like it maybe a cameo appearance to me but we’ll wait and see. “Days of Future Past” is getting even more interesting. I thought “X-Men: First Class” was great, hopefully this film will be even better, now that Singer is back at the helm.
Kev
Edit to add: I forgot, Hugh Jackman did have a cameo in “X-Men: First Class” too, but he wasn’t quite the Wolverine yet…
