Happy 82nd birthday, Clint Eastwood!!!

Mr. Clint Eastwood, is an actor and director that we’ve all followed and looked after over the years. I don’t like too many of his newer films, I was more into the earlier Clint films. Of course, I liked a lot of his earlier westerns like, “High Plains Drifter”, “Outlaw Josey Wales”, “the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” and “For a Few Dollars More”.

I am a huge fan of his Dirty Harry films mostly though. Some of my other favorite films of his are, “Escape from Alcatraz”, “Unforgiven”, “True Crime”, “Mystic River”, “Million Dollar Baby”, and “Gran Torino”.

I haven’t seen, “J. Edgar” yet.

It’s amazing that Clint is living this long. Here’s to Clint for surviving another year! Happy Birthday, Clint. Go ahead, make my day!

I forgot how much of a masterpiece, “Cleopatra” really is, wow, what a beautiful film!

For this Memorial Day weekend, I decided to watch, “Cleopatra”, on Netflix streaming. I may have seen it before a long time ago, but couldn’t really remember it. It’s a 4 hour movie, so I watched the first half last night, and the second half earlier this afternoon. Elizabeth Taylor was really beautiful and hot back in those days. It’s just a biopic film of Cleopatra VII, telling the story of how she became queen and all that stuff.

I’ve been on a bit of a classic film addiction in Netflix lately. I’ve been watching a lot of the classics from the 50’s – 60’s. I thought if I want to be a true movie buff, I need to watch all the classics. I love the old movies. I think this is just a sign of me getting older and trying to get away from the kiddie things.

Will I go see the new, “Men in Black III”???

The answer is no. I have no interest in the new “Men In Black” movie. I thought the first one was pretty good, but I hated the second one. Plus, I’m not a big Will Smith fan. I only like a few of his movies. The only Will Smith movies, I liked were, “Independence Day”, and, “I Am Legend”, that’s pretty much it. I just think he’s an overrated actor.

I will go to the movies next week, to see something, but it won’t be, “MIBIII”.

I’m thinking of checking out either, “Chernobyl Diaries” or, “The Dictator”. I think, I’m going to wait for DVD rental on, “Battleship”.

Today, officially marks the 30th Anniversary of the first Star Wars film, “A New Hope”…

Love George Lucas or hate him, you can’t deny that he is a creative genius and was pretty successful of his storytelling. While I am more of a Star Trek fan, I can appreciate Star Wars. I do like the original movies and the prequels too. George Lucas got so much hate and disrespect over the years. The man was never afraid to do what he wanted to do. He was never afraid to tell the stories he wanted to tell, whether other people liked it or not. All the success George got with Star Wars over the years, he didn’t get it for nothing. He created it all himself. The first Star Wars movie was heavily inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s film, “The Hidden Fortress”. I believe he wrote the script from there. It wasn’t easy for George to get studios interested in, “Star Wars”, as he kept getting rejected. George really wanted the stories to be told, and he did all he could to get the films made. George really worked hard. Congratulations to George on 30 years. He must be proud even to this day.

I might even watch, “A New Hope” later tonight.

In defense of wrestlers getting into the movies…

These days, more and more wrestlers have been getting away from professional wrestling to act in movies more. With wrestlers such as, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Kurt Angle are becoming pretty big movie stars lately. I’m sure many movie fans are accusing them of not having acting talent and I’m sure they think these wrestlers don’t deserve to be in the movies, but in this post, I’ll take a little time to defend them.

People think that wrestlers don’t have acting experience, sorry to say, but these wrestlers have PLENTY Of acting experience. How? Well, professional wrestling is acting. Think of professional wrestling as theater. Both wrestling and acting in movies are pretty much the same thing. When you have years and years of professional wrestling experience, you don’t need to go to college for acting or any of that stuff. Wrestling taught them how to be an actor. They don’t need to be on the Broadway theater stage or do commercials on TV to get their start. They can get right into the movies, right away.

Wrestling helps them become a big name, so they get recognized in the movies easier. The bigger these guys become in the wrestling industry, they accomplished everything they needed to accomplish in wrestling, that there’s nothing left for them to do anymore. That’s why they move away from wrestling, and move on to movies. So they deserve to be in the movies for sure.

I think Dwayne, Steve Austin and Kurt are all doing a good job in movies so far. I’ve seen some of their work recently. I expect even more wrestlers to retire from the business to focus on movies more. I think Triple H could be next. There are rumors he might be retiring from WWE soon, not sure. Triple H has been doing a bunch of straight to video movies for WWE Films. Triple H didn’t do any major big screen movies yet, but I’m sure he’ll get into big screen movies soon when he gets done with wrestling officially.

Report: We’ll have to wait for “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” for next year, Paramount wants to add 3D for the film…

Well, look like we’ll have to wait even longer for the “G.I. Joe” sequel, “Retaliation”. Paramount is pushing the film back, 9 months of it’s original release date, June 29th. Instead, it’s coming out, March 29th, 2013. This is creating controversy on the internet today. It’s pissing people off. It’s pissing me off ’cause I’ve been looking forward to this movie. I absolutely LOVED, the first movie.

I’m a huge GI Joe fan, loved the action figures and cartoons when I was a kid. The movies are staying true to the characters and stories. This is how greedy Hollywood is. Thanks to James Cameron, Hollywood is now jerking off over 3D. I don’t like today’s 3D too much. The only good 3D movie of today, was “The Avengers”. So far, I haven’t liked any other 3D movie. These days Hollywood is giving you a choice to either see the film in regular 2D or 3D.

That’s the only reason they are doing this, competition. Money. They want to compete with other 3D movies. I pretty much blame it on, “The Avengers”. Paramount, thinks they can top Marvel.

Deadline, reports.

Report: Actor/Comedian/Musician, Michael McKean hit by car in NYC and suffers broken leg…

Michael McKean, who is most famous for his roles as Lenny in “Laverne & Shirley”, and David St. Hubbins in, “This Is Spinal Tap”, was seriously injured and suffered broken leg, after he was hit by a car in NYC. This really sucks ’cause he is a talented man, and I admired his work for years. Especially, “This is Spinal Tap”, which is one of my favorite films of all time. Plus, he is a great musician and singer too. The man is multi-talented. He did just about everything you can think of in the entertainment industry. That’s why he gets my respect. I hope he gets well soon.

More on the story, here.

Cool Video: Why Zack Snyder and crew are quiet about details of “Man of Steel” movie…

At the L.A. Times “Hero Complex” convention event over the weekend, Zack Snyder the director of “Man of Steel”, the new Superman movie appeared on stage to have a live chat with “Walking Dead” creator, Robert Kirkman. While they talked a lot about zombies and comics, Robert, kept bugging Zack about details for “Man of Steel”. As you can see in this live interview, Zack was tight lipped about “Superman” plot points throughout the whole thing.

There are plenty of fan discussions on the internet being disappointed on Zack being silent on, “Man of Steel”. Why is Zack being so secretive of the new Superman movie? Well, it’s a Christopher Nolan movie. Nolan is the mentor and producer of the film. Nolan loves to keep all of his movies secretive. When Nolan did the Batman movies and “Inception”, he was secretive on all those movies but once in a while, he will release a photo or a little teaser to get feedback or hype up the movie.

I remember a while back, Hans Zimmer, explained why Nolan is secretive on his movies, read about it, here.

I agree with what Nolan is doing. Why spoil the surprises and excitement before the movie comes out? Nolan is doing a good job keeping spoilers private as best as possible. These days, every Hollywood movie wants to reveal everything before the film comes out. Nolan is one of the very few who doesn’t like to reveal everything. He’s definitely one of those, “Wait until the movie comes out”, type.

I’m sure Zack would love to talk about the plot details and everything else in “Man of Steel”, but he can’t. I’m sure he had to sign some kind of agreement paperwork that he’s not allowed to talk about anything outside the studio. If Zack did start talking about stuff about the movie, that could get him fired or sued.

Enjoy the interview below.

Cool Video: Joaquin Phoenix finally has a new movie out called, “The Master”, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson!

Joaquin Phoenix, is finally done with his crazy rap gimmick and back to where he is best at, acting. Here he is in a new leading role called, “The Master”, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Joaquin has been my favorite actor for years. So I just gotta say to him, welcome back to Hollywood! I’ll be seeing this movie for sure, looks great!

Cool Video: The new 007 trailer, “Skyfall” is finally here!!!

I thought “Casino Royale”, was a great movie, but I thought, “Quantum of Solace” sucked hard. Now I see why they are re-booting the series again. “Skyfall” doesn’t continue the story of “Royale” and “Solace”, “Skyfall” is a standalone movie, I believe. Still looks very good so far, and I’m impressed with the trailer. The film looks action packed, of course, all movie trailers want to make it look that way with James Bond films, but when you go see the actual film, it turns out to be a piece of crap. Lets just hope and pray, “Skyfall”, will be a really good one. Javier Bardem is the main villain in this film, they do show him in this trailer but his face is darkened out so you can’t see him. It’s just a teaser for now. I’m sure they’ll reveal a lot more in the second trailer.

Enjoy it, here.
