Report: “The Dark Tower” TV series will be aired on HBO, but as for the big screen movie, not sure yet…

While promoting the “Tower Heist” movie, Brian Grazer just said, “The Dark Tower” TV series will be aired on HBO. Since Universal dropped out of making the movies for the big screen, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard still haven’t found a movie studio for the films, but they are still looking.

MTV Movies Blog, reports.

HBO is a great network for the show, but it will be a big competition with other popular shows on that station. Shows like “Game of Thrones”, “True Blood”, and “Boardwalk Empire”. I don’t see how “The Dark Tower” is going to top any of those shows, it’ll be hard. “The Dark Tower” shouldn’t be aired on a Sunday night like a few of those shows are being aired on. I think “The Dark Tower” show should be aired on either Thursday or Friday night.

Another question I have is, Javier Bardem is confirmed to play Roland The Gunslinger. Will he still play Roland for the TV series as well? That’s a lot of acting.

Report: Warner Bros. announced no more Harry Potter DVD/Blu Rays after Dec. 29th…

Warner Bros. just released a shocking press release saying that they will pull all Harry Potter films off the shelves and will no longer release future projects. Yes, that even includes, “The Deathly Hollows part 2”. They will do this starting, Dec. 29th. Warner Bros. refuses to explain why in their press release.

Read it here, at Deadline.

These Harry Potter films made billions of dollars over the years and they helped make J.K. Rowling become one of the richest women in the world because of them. Now they are trashing DVD/Blu Ray releases of Harry Potter?

How are fans are going to watch Harry Potter after, Dec. 29th?

I’m a Harry Potter fan myself, loved the books and the movies. Did Warner Bros. make a deal with Netflix to make the Harry Potter films streamable?

Report: Ben Affleck and Matt Damon re-teaming for Whitey Bulger biopic…

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon haven’t done anything new together since 1997’s, “Good Will Hunting”, in which they both won an Oscar for, “Best Screenplay”. The two best friends will finally get together again for the big screen. They will take on the story of Whitey Bulger, the notorious mob boss from Boston, who was just captured in California, earlier this year.

The script will be written by “Boardwalk Empire”, creator and writer, Terrence Winter. Ben Affleck will direct and co-star as Whitey Bulger. Matt Damon will have a role as well. Warner Bros. also asked Ben if he’ll direct a new version of Stephen King’s “The Stand” but Ben has not yet responded if he will or not. I have a feeling that Ben will not direct, “The Stand” due to agreeing with the Whitey Bulger project instead.

Deadline, reports.

Very nice! I really enjoyed that movie, “The Town”. I’m not much of a Ben Affleck fan either, but “The Town” was awesome. I think that was his best movie in a long time. I’m sure Ben will make the Whitey Bulger movie violent and action packed as well.

Ben and Matt’s been best friends for years, they grew up together. Nice to see them do something again, finally.

Brock’s Top 20 Favorite Horror films of all time…

It’s that’s time again. Halloween is just around the corner and I think it’s about time to do another Top Favorite Horror films list of all time. Just my way of recommending you some good stuff to watch on Halloween night. I think I usually do 15 every year, but I think I’ll do 20 this time. The list changes yearly due to the newer horror films that come out lately.

If you’re looking for some good movies to watch with all the lights off, here’s my list:

  1. Halloween (Carpenter version) – I’ll never get tired of this masterpiece. I watch it pretty much every Halloween night and I’m sure other people do as well. It’s a classic, indeed.
  2. Halloween II (Rob Zombie version) – Critics and movie fans hated this movie, but I fucking LOVED it. I thought Rob did a wonderful job on doing justice with Michael Myers, the way he’s supposed to be. This was a really disturbing and creepy film. I haven’t seen this film in a long time, maybe I’ll watch it again this weekend.
  3. Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn – This is my favorite of the Evil Dead series. Love this movie too much. If you want to be scared to death, get grossed out and laugh your ass off at the same time, this is the film for you. Always a great film to watch on Halloween.
  4. The Exorcist – Of course, can’t leave this one off the list, and it needs to be in the top 5 for sure. Can never forget the incredible performance by Max Von Sydow.
  5. The Omen (original) – Man, I love this movie. Everything about this movie is perfect, and of course, Gregory Peck was amazing in this flick.
  6. Night of the Living Dead (original) – Can’t forget the George A. Romero classic, the man responsible for bringing zombies into films. There maybe so many zombie flicks over the years, but nothing else will be able to top this masterpiece.
  7. Dracula (1931, original) – There’s been way too many remakes of “Dracula” over the years, but nothing will top the Bela Lugosi classic. While Francis Ford Coppola’s “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” is a wonderful film, the original will always be better.
  8. A Nightmare on Elm St. (both, original & remake, two way tie) – I loved both the original Wes Craven film and the remake just the same. I loved Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy.
  9. Nosferatu (original, 1932, silent film) – Forget “Twilight” and forget all the nonsense Anne Rice Lestat books. Nosferatu is probably the best vampire of them all.
  10. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake) – I’m probably gonna get slammed for this, but I loved the remake more than the original Tobe Hooper version. I thought the remake did the Leatherface character just right. Plus, Marcus Nispel’s vision of horror films is just fascinating.
  11. The Ring (remake) – The 2002 film starring Naomi Watts, this film is actually pretty scary as hell. While I did love this movie, I didn’t care for the sequel too much though.
  12. Frailty – A film about two young kids living with their Dad who is a serial killer, in which he saw people as demons. It’s a really good film.
  13. Wolf Creek – It’s another serial killer film, one of the better new horror films. About young backpackers getting kidnapped by a psycho madman. Check it out.
  14. Hellraiser I and II – Most of the Hellraiser movies were pretty bad, but I think the first two Hellbound films were the best. It is sad the Horror film industry ruined such a great character. I hope Hellraiser gets a re-boot someday.
  15. Twilight Zone: The Movie – Do you want to see something, really scary? Enough said!
  16. I Spit On Your Grave (Remake) – A film about a young girl who has been gang raped by a bunch of men, and she kills her attackers for revenge. This film will be a gross out, but it’s a really good revenge story. I love this film.
  17. An American Werewolf In London – Time to throw another classic in here. I think this is the best werewolf movie.
  18. Paranormal Activity series – A lot of people are giving the P.A. movies bad reviews, but I honestly love them so far. I love the story of Katie Featherston. I’m looking forward to the 3rd movie. The third “P.A.” movie is actually a prequel of the first movie.
  19. The Others – This is an excellent ghost story, starring Nicole Kidman. The pacing maybe slow and you may not be into it at first, but it’ll grow on you.
  20. Buried – It’s not really a horror film but scary enough to watch it on Halloween. It stars Ryan Reynolds, about a US truck driver based in Iraq, finds himself buried alive in a coffin underground. This movie is actually pretty scary. Why? Because it’s realistic. I watched this movie on Netflix a couple of weeks ago, and I loved it.
That’s it. There are too many horror films that I like but those above are my favorite.

Report: “Transformers 4 & 5” to star Jason Statham?

The third installment to the Transformers trilogy, “Dark of the Moon”, was originally going to be the final film of the series. Due to the huge box office success of the third film, it’s no surprise they are going to keep going with the franchise after this. Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay are in early negotiations to discuss plans to shoot, “Transformers 4 & 5” back to back.

Only thing though, Shia Labeouf, the series main star will not return for the next films. They are very interested in action star, Jason Statham, to star the leading role instead.

I hated the first Transformers movie and the second one, but the third one I actually loved a lot. They did a great job with the 3rd movie, “Dark of the Moon”, it was a great improvement.

I always thought Shia Labeouf was the wrong actor to play in these movies and they are finally starting to understand it. Jason Statham is a better choice. I’m a huge Transformers fan, I just want the movies to be better. I like Jason Statham. I enjoy a lot of his movies. He’s a great action star of this generation.

Report: Scarlett Johansson was original choice to play Lisbeth Salander but was dropped by David Fincher…

“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” is on the cover of this month’s “Vogue” magazine, and David Fincher talks about the film in that issue. He said, Scarlett Johansson, was the original choice to play Lisbeth Salander, but she was dropped, and he decided to hire Rooney Mara for the role instead.

David does explain why he dropped Scarlett. He basically said that if he had Scarlett in the movie, everyone will expect her to get naked. Lisbeth was supposed to be like a children’s character (Remember, she was inspired by Pippi Longstocking), so David compared her to, E.T. , to give you an example. He wanted the Lisbeth character to be lovable, like E.T. He felt Scarlett didn’t have that, I guess.  He was impressed with her acting during her audition, though.

I’m sure Scarlett would have done a great job but her boobs are too big. In the book, Lisbeth’s boobs were described as small.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to the “Dragon Tattoo” movie, I will see it in theater and I hope it won’t be disappointing. I’m sure Fincher will do justice with the book.

Cool Photos: Henry Cavill goes shirtless on the set of “Man of Steel”…

When photos of the new Superman suit have been released, Henry have been accused of having a fake muscular physique. People claimed the muscles were part of the costume design. Well, here’s your proof that Henry really is jacked.

I believe they’re filming in Alaska in these pics.

You see, folks, in my own bodybuilding world, that’s the kind of physique I’m going after. Perfect example of what I want to look like. Nothing too big, just a medium built, like Henry’s.

And Henry does look natural in bodybuilding.

See the rest of the pics, here.

Report: Marvel hires their very first female director to helm the “Thor” sequel…

Now this is interesting! Marvel studios have been making movies based on their comics for years and they’ve never had a female director. Well, they finally hired one. Patty Jenkins will be the one helming the “Thor” sequel. She was the one who brought us the movie, “Monster”, starring Charlize Theron and Chrstina Ricci.

The Hollywood Reporter, reports.

The first “Thor” movie was great, and I’m not much of a Marvel fan either. Hopefully she does a good job with the sequel. Maybe Patty is a huge Thor fan herself, so she might know her stuff from the comics. I’m sure this will bother some people that a female director is in charge of the sequel, but I’m sure she’ll do the film justice. Women could probably make a Thor movie better than men can. I think the “Thor” character has been mostly aimed at women audiences. The “Thor” character has always been popular with women for years.

Cool Video: “American Reunion” trailer arrives online today!!!

“American Reunion” which reunites all the cast from the first “American Pie” movie, the first teaser trailer arrives online, and it’s in redband. The film stays true to it’s crude sexual humor. I’m looking forward to it. I like the American Pie movies with the original cast. I’ll be seeing this one in theater. I like a good comedy once in a while.
