Report: First “World War Z’s” set gets raided in Budapest, and now 16 zombie actors injured on set of “Resident Evil 5”, what’s going on here?

There’s a bit of controversy happening at two different zombie films being shot now. The first, Brad Pitt’s “World War Z” zombie film is being filmed in Budapest and their set was raided by the Hungarian Anti-Terrorist Squad, because they are being accused of transporting real guns into the country. The film makers thought the guns weren’t working, but the Anti-Terrorist Squad, discovered they were working. Read the full story, here.

The second, the fifth installment to the, “Resident Evil”, series is being shot in Toronto. At Cinespace Film Studios in Toronto, 16 actors dressed as zombies were walking across a wheeled platform and the platform collapsed. Leaving all actors injured. Read the full story, here.

This is pretty crazy! World War Z set raided, people injured on “Resident Evil” set, Dead Island video game came out earlier this month, and “Walking Dead – Season 2” premieres this Sunday night. The world is being taken over by zombies. Maybe there is a zombie apocalypse on the way. BrrAAaaiinnnsss…

Netflix changes their mind on “Qwikster” and separating streaming/DVD rentals…

The big news today is, that Netflix has announced that they are not doing the separate “Qwikster” company, that they had planned on doing. They are also not separating the Netflix streaming and DVD/Rentals, still keeping both of them in one site. Which is good ’cause I’ll admit it, I didn’t like the idea of separating them.

Even though they are not dropping the prices back to where it was, I’m glad they are not doing the Qwikster thing.

Hopefully they’ll still add a video game rental section like they promised. The price raise isn’t a big deal to me, I didn’t like the separation idea.

I love Netflix for a lot of reasons. 1) I like to catch up with all the TV shows I’ve never seen before in the past. For example, I watched all of “Lost” on Netflix, and I’m currently on “24” Season 3. There are other TV shows I want to watch on there too like “Mad Men”, “Heroes”, “Sons of Anarchy”, etc. 2) Netflix has a lot of indy films and documentaries where you can’t watch anywhere else 3) Netflix is like my home video store, I do their DVD rental thing so I can catch up with all the new releases.

Speaking of Netflix DVD rentals, I watched “Where the Wild Things Are”, the live action version of the children’s book. It was an okay movie, nothing all that special. I wanted to see the movie ’cause I loved the book as a child. The movie didn’t follow the book at all, so I didn’t care for it that much. I didn’t bother reviewing it.

Cool Photos: See Henry Cavill and Amy Adams on the set of “Man Of Steel” in Alaska…

The cast and crew left Chicago while filming, Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” a few weeks ago, they are now filming in Alaska.

The pics above is a fully bearded Henry Cavill and the redhead Amy Adams filming, the next Superman flick.

See more pics, here.

The more I see behind the scenes pics of, “Man of Steel”, the more I begin to think it’s “Superman: Begins”, much like, “Batman: Begins”. Look like Clark Kent will start off with a full beard in the opening scenes of the movie.

I’m more looking forward to seeing pics of Michael Shannon as, General Zod. They haven’t shown us yet.

Report: Connie Britton speaks out on the new, “Friday Night Lights”, movie…

Connie Britton, who plays Tami Taylor, on “Friday Night Lights” TV show, spoke to US Weekly saying that Peter Berg is all fired up about turning the show into a new movie. She also says Jason Katims is writing the script.

Read what she have to say, here.

I’m very excited for this. The “Friday Night Lights” movie could have potential for an Oscar nod for some of the show’s actors especially, Kyle and Connie.

I’m sure they’ll do a good job with the film. I just hope Minka Kelly comes back as Lyla throughout the movie, and not just a cameo for her.

Netflix Pick (DVD): Pandora’s Box

Last night, I actually watched the 1929 German silent film, “Pandora’s Box” in which the Lou Reed/Metallica project, “Lulu” was adapted from. I don’t watch silent films too much. I only watched this one out of curiosity of the Lou/’Tallica project. What did I think of the film?

I actually loved it a lot. It told a pretty powerful story. I actually watched through the whole movie and it was a little over 2 hours long.

It’s just tells the story of a young woman named, Lulu, who is a pretty sexual woman and will seduce anyone she lays her eyes on. She was hired to be part of a trapeze act to perform on stage in front of a big crowd. Then she realizes she is surrounded by violent people and criminals. She was sold to a brothel later on in the film.

After seeing this movie, I now understood why Lou/’Tallica is doing this project. Remember, how in the song, “The View”, Lou was talking about suicide and all that stuff? Well all that was part of the Lulu story. There was a part in the movie where Lulu’s husband tried to force her to take a gun and shoot herself, and I began to think that the song “The View” was about that one scene.

The story of Lulu was very powerful stuff. I’m glad I watched the film. I think the United States should do a remake of it. It’s only a matter of time that Hollywood will do a remake of it depending how well this Lou/’Tallica “Lulu” album sells on the Billboard. This Lulu story deserves to get told world wide.

There’s something special about this Lulu character. I think everyone else should watch it too. Rent it from Netflix, get it from Itunes, or order the DVD online. Trust me, you’ll enjoy the film yourself. You may not be into silent films, especially films from a different country, but this story is wonderful. Before bashing Lou and Metallica for this project, you should look into it more. When you look into it more, you’ll start to understand it.

The reason everyone is hating Metallica for this project is because they are still hung up on this, “speed metal”. Metallica is not going to do speed metal forever, it’s about letting go of their past and moving on to other things.

On top of that, this isn’t the first time that Metallica did a theatrical like album, remember, “And Justice For All”? That whole album was based on, “Johnny Got His Gun”. Their song, “For Whom The Bell Tolls” was inspired from the Ernest Hemmingway novel with the same title of the song. Like I said before, most of Metallica’s songs are very theatrical, almost like a musical. That’s why they are appropriate for this project.

I think this Lulu character will become very popular in the United States after their album is released. I think what Lou and Metallica is doing is very good. Metallica don’t do projects randomly, they do things for a good reason.

Check out, “Pandora’s Box”. You’ll be at the edge of your seat throughout the film. It’s tells an interesting story.

Report: Leonard Nimoy is done with Spock for good…

The 80 year old actor, Leonard Nimoy, attended his last “Star Trek” convention in Chicago, for the celebration of the “Star Trek – 45th Anniversary”. Earlier this year, Leonard announced he is retiring from acting. What better ways to make it official at a Star Trek convention, right? Leonard gave a speech to the fans for about an hour and ended the speech by saying his famous catchphrase, “Live long and prosper”, then giving his famous Spock hand signal.

While most people know Leonard as Spock, he has done other things in his career other than the Spock role. He is a film director himself, a book author, and he’s even had a short music career of his own.

As a big Star Trek junkie myself, I wish I could have been at that Star Trek convention to see Leonard’s speech. He is a very talented and hard working man, he always got my respect. It’s understandable why he wants to retire from everything, since he’s getting old.

I wonder how much longer, William Shatner  is going to keep working for his career? The Shat will have to hang it up at some point as well because he is getting close to Leonard’s age.

Thanks for everything, Leonard!

Cool Photo: First look at Russell Crowe as Jor-El on the set of “Man of Steel”…

We now know what Henry Cavill looks like as Superman in costume. Well, here’s your first look at Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Superman’s Krypton father, on the set of Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”. Pretty cool. I like it. Definitely different than the Marlon Brando version.

Lets hope we see a pic of Michael Shannon as General Zod soon. That’s what I’m most looking forward to see.

Report: Kurt Russell to replace Kevin Costner for Tarantino’s “Django Unchained”…

Kurt Russell will re-team with Quentin Tarantino once again for, “Django Unchained”. Kevin Costner was going to play a role in, “Django” but was forced to pull out due to his hectic work schedule for, “Man of Steel”, in which Costner plays Jonathan Kent in the film.

More on the story, here.

Well, look like Kurt is definitely not going to be in, “The Expendables” sequel if he’s going to sign on to this. Maybe he will join the Expendables cast for a possible cameo, though, who knows. I would like Kurt to be part of the Expendables movie too, but it is pretty cool he is re-teaming with Tarantino again.

Film Review: Moneyball

Starring: Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright

Directed by: Bennett Miller

Today, I decided to hit the mall and check out the movie, “Moneyball”. Before the movie, I did finally pick up the game, “Dead Island”, but I won’t play it right away ’cause I’m still playing, “Deus Ex: Human Revolution”. As soon as I finish “Deus Ex”, I’ll move right on to “Dead Island”. Looking forward to “Dead Island”, though, as I’m a huge fan of zombies myself as some of you can probably tell.

On with my review:

Plot/Synopsis: This film focuses on the real life story of Billy Beane, who is the General Manager and part owner of the MLB team, the Oakland Ahtletics. Billy is in a financial handicap with the Oakland A’s, due to their constant losing of games. It takes place in the year 2002, around that time the Oakland A’s suffered a low payroll budget. The Oakland A’s just lost three big players: Johnny Damon, Jason Giambi, and Jason Isringhausen so they must be replaced with better players.

Beane teams up with Peter Brand (who is played by Jonah Hill), because he was going to college at Yale for economics. Beane felt that Brand would help get the Oakland A’s out of the financial ruin. Beane wants his players to be more competitive and play better so they can win more games. Beane searches for players who are high on the on base percentage, baseball stats.

Well, this film was very interesting. I like baseball, but I don’t watch a lot of it. I used to watch MLB all the time though. I’m more into football now. When I saw this movie, I realized that this movie wasn’t really about baseball, maybe a little bit. If you’re expecting to see a big baseball movie, where you can cheer on, you’re not going to see that in this movie.

In this movie, you’re going to learn all the secrets and behind the scene stuff that the staff at MLB don’t want you to know about. You always wondered what it would be like, behind the scenes of professional baseball? Well this film will give you an idea of it. This movie will show that working behind the scenes of professional baseball isn’t easy as it sounds. It’s a tough business. This movie is mostly about business and money. It’s about a team that is about to fall apart and you must bring it back together.

The performances in this movie was just amazing. Brad Pitt is always good, like usual, but I’m most impressed with Jonah Hill. Jonah has been doing a lot of silly slapstick comedies as of late, so he decides to take a break from comedy for once and try a serious drama role. I think Jonah is going to get an Oscar nod for “Best Supporting Actor” in this role this year. Jonah Hill first got recognition as an actor in the 2007 comedy film, “Superbad”, and he should get even more recognition with, “Moneyball”. This is Jonah’s best role.

I’ve been following Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s career for years and this was his best role as well. He really kills it.

Everything else about the movie was great. The writing was well written, the cinematography was well done, and the music in the movie was cool too. There were some baseball playing scenes but not much.

I thought this was an excellent film. You don’t need to be a baseball fan to watch this film.

Score for “Moneyball” = **** (4 stars as in”excellent”)
