Netflix Pick: “Lost – Season 1”

Yes, I’m real late getting into this show, but I just got Netflix a while back so bare with me. Just finished “Lost – Season 1” today. Yes, watched the entire season from the beginning to the end. Not in one day of course, it took me a couple of months to watch ’em all ’cause this a pretty long season.

The show tells a story of a plane called, Oceanic Air Flight 815, that crashed on a Pacific Island. 48 people survived the plane crash, and they have no choice but to live on the island to survive. It’s a story about survival. The people that survived the plane crash came from different places all over the world. Of course, everyone has a hard time getting along with each other at first, but a man named Jack who is a doctor tries his best to keep everyone together so they can help each other survive and try to get off the island. There is a few enemies of course, like Sawyer (who is a con man, and criminal). Kate who is a dangerous fugitive on the loose and John Locke who seems to know about survival and hunting than everyone else but he is not to be trusted.

As the show goes along, the show would show flashbacks of each character. The flashbacks shows what each character is like before they crashed onto the island. The flashback scenes are pretty nice because it gives you the background of each character. Life in the real world before the crash on the island.

As for the island scenes, it is all an adventure and survival story. They do a good job mixing drama, humor, family entertainment, action, thrills, etc. All into one show. Some of the story lines can be pretty unpredictable and shocking.

Who are my favorite characters of the show? Well so far, my favorite is Sayid, the Iraqi guy. He is the most interesting, in my opinion. I also like Charlie, the musician guy and Danielle the French Woman. All the characters are enjoyable but the ones I listed are my favorite.

The 1st Season is pretty much an introduction. Introducing the characters and opening up the storyline. I’m sure there’s a lot more to the show as I go along. It’s a very good show. I’m pretty hooked to it. I’m a huge fan of JJ Abrams work, I just never got around to seeing this show when it used to air on ABC. Looking forward for “Season 2” which I will start tomorrow.

Brock reviews: “Dexter – Season 4”

So last night, I watched the final two episodes of “Dexter – Season 4”. I was very impressed with this season, and I think this is the best season like everyone else. John Lithgow was the special guest as the Trinity Killer, which he won a Golden Globe award for this show. Michael C. Hall also won a Golden Globe award for this Season, which both awards are well deserved. While John Lithgow did an amazing job, playing the villain, this isn’t the first time he played a villain. Lithgow played a villain in many Hollywood films such as “Cliffhanger”, “Ricochet”, “Raising Cain”, and “Santa Clause: the Movie”.

I think “Season 4” of Dexter is the darkest one of them all. There are some pretty big twists and turns this season. It kept you guessing ’til the very end. The ending to “Season 4” was so shocking, I don’t want to tell what happens, but I can give you a clue that another important character of the series got killed off. I’m not saying who.

In this season, Dexter continues to follow “The Code” on where he kills bad people to add blood to his slide collection. He also killed a few innocent people which weren’t part of his code. Nobody really found out who Dexter really is, but the Trinity Killer (Lithgow) found out who he was toward the end. The Trinity Killer is a different monster than Dexter, who was obsessed with killing innocent women.

This show continues to be addicting. I’ve been loving every episode I’ve seen. I’m already looking forward to “Season 5”. Since “Season 5” is not on DVD yet, I will order Showtime channel this week so I can watch “Season 5” on their ON DEMAND thing.

I’ll catch up with “Dexter” before the new Season 6 starts airing on Showtime in Sept. I’ve also watched a few more episodes of “Lost” last night. I will review the first season of “Lost” after I finish it which will be a while. The first season of “Lost” is a pretty long season.

Thought: Watch “The Office” get canceled soon with no Michael Scott…

Last week, I watched the first episode without Michael Scott, on “The Office”. So NBC is canceling shows like crazy? Just watch “The Office” get canceled right away this year. I know it’s going to happen. No matter who replaces Michael Scott as boss of “Dunder Mifflin”, the show is going to tank without him.

I can’t stand Will Ferrell as Deangelo, so I hope Deangelo won’t be the new boss. If he is, that’s when I’ll quit watching. It’s not “The Office” without Steve Carel. It already feels weird without him. I can understand why Steve wants to leave, after 7 seasons of being part of the show. Steve is becoming a big name movie star now. He’s too famous for TV.

I thought it was lame of NBC to continue the show without him. It won’t last another season after this, trust me.

Thought: About “The Event”, and “Wonder Woman” being canceled on NBC…

It seems that NBC really listens to the public opinions. NBC put this stuff out there, the public speak, and the company responds. If their shows get a lot of negative feedback by viewers, that’s when NBC will start taking action, canceling shows like crazy.

NBC killed, “The Event”, and David E. Kelley’s “Wonder Woman”, that was going to star Adrianne Palicki as the hero. Both of these shows kept getting bad reviews by the public for days.

I’ll admit that “The Event” started out real interesting the first season. I watched the entire first season, of “The Event”. When the second season came, I only watched the first few episodes, and then I stopped watching. I’ll admit, “The Event” went downhill on me, the second season. Jason Ritter is a good actor but it’s just that the writing of the show is really bad.

NBC didn’t really have to cancel, “Wonder Woman” just because the public didn’t like it. I’m sure another Network will buy “Wonder Woman”. I’m interested in seeing it still. People need to stop bashing things before TV shows or movies haven’t even been released yet. I don’t know why people do it, but they do. I never did that. It’s a smart thing to do, to actually watch them first, and then make your opinion.

Cool Video: Brent Spiner’s “Fresh Hell” web series…

Here is Brent Spiner’s latest acting project that he has going on now. It’s a web series being released exclusively for youtube. So far, there’s 5 episodes, I just watched them all today. Short episodes. Brent Spiner aka Data from “Star Trek”. In the series, he plays himself. It’s about Brent trying to get his acting career back on track after losing everything, the fame he had with Star Trek TNG. He helps this woman named, Dakota (played by Kat Steel) and her agent tries to talk Brent into working in the porn industry. In the series, Brent wasn’t up for the porn thing and wanted to find a different manager he can trust.

I’m actually enjoying the series so far. It’s pretty funny and entertaining. It’s a comedy series and fiction, but from the looks of things, there’s a lot of real life material in the series that are from Brent’s real life.

Watch the 5 episodes, here.

Brent Spiner is an underrated actor who I admired for a long time. After Star Trek TNG, he also became famous for his role in “Independence Day”, starring Will Smith.

Brent needs to get back into acting in a huge way again. He was rumored to return as Data for the next “Star Trek” movie, but he kept saying he will never play Data again.

Why Ashton Kutcher was hired to take over Charlie Sheen’s role in “Two and a Half Men”…

I never really watched the show “Two and a Half Men”, but I can understand why CBS hired him right away. Why? Because after all this mess with Charlie, I’m sure CBS lost a lot of fans and stopped watching the show. Ashton Kutcher gets a lot of publicity, he’s extremely popular. He’s very like-able by a lot of people out there. CBS hired him simply because to help the show’s popularity grow and keep the ratings up.

Even if I’m not a fan of Ashton Kutcher’s acting, it’s a smart move by CBS. Charlie and Ashton never worked together in the past, but Ashton did work with the Sheen family before. Ashton had a role in the Emilio Estevez directed movie, “Bobby” that also starred Martin Sheen. So Ashton is pretty close to the Sheen family.

So that’s a sign that Ashton and Charlie could possibly already know each other. I’m pretty sure Charlie still wants to play on the show, but maybe he’ll even agree that Ashton is a good pick. We’ll wait to hear Charlie’s thoughts on this soon.

In Defense of Hilary Swank!!!

Actress, Hilary Swank is in the news again. About what? It’s about her looks, of course. This never ending debate on whether she’s “hot” or “not”. What do I think about her? I’m going to side with her, and say that she’s “hot”.

And here is why….

She’s a normal and natural beauty. I don’t think she’s had plastic surgery like most celebs. She also doesn’t hide her so called, “ugly” looks like most celebs. Do you want to know why so many actresses like Megan Fox, Pam Anderson, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johannson, etc., all look so beautiful and perfect? Because plastic surgery and way too much make-up is what makes them hot women. How much do you want to bet that those women I listed, if they had their make up off, they would be much uglier than Hilary Swank.

I think Hilary is a beautiful woman. I would even date her if I could. You can’t deny that she’s not bad to look at. Look at her see through dress she’s wearing. Do they look like breast implants to you? No. Definitely not. They look like a good size rack and natural looking. You’d be insane to not have her in the bed with you.

If people are calling her ugly, then she must be doing something right. She doesn’t have to be “hot” and she doesn’t have to be a plastic barbie doll like most celebs. That’s how she is and she’s just being herself. She wears make up too but not as bad as other celebs.

She also happens to be one of the best actresses out there. I admired her acting talent for a long time. “Million Dollar Baby” was her best role, obviously. If you think she’s ugly, there are even uglier actresses out there than her. How about: Rosie O’ Donnell, Kristen Stewart, Miley Cyrus, Courtney Love, Rumer Willis, etc.

Nothing wrong with Hilary. It all comes down with jealousy when it comes to Hilary. Calling her ugly was pretty disrespectful, in my opinion. Hilary needs to be respected. She has talent and a two time Oscar winner. She’s also an icon, like her or not. I first heard about Hilary through her movie, “Boys Don’t Cry”, which is an amazing flick by the way. Hilary is wonderful and I would even like to meet her in person sometime.

Report: Colin Hanks set to play main villain for “Dexter – Season 6″…

The son of Tom Hanks, whose name is Colin, has been signed for a major villain role for “Dexter’s Season 6”. The show already had John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits playing the main villains, Colin’s character will be totally different than them. Showtime is keeping Colin’s character a secret for now.

More on the story, here.

This show is going to help Colin become more well known, indeed.

I still haven’t seen the rest of “Dexter – Season 4” and I only started watching the first 3 or 4 episodes so far. I still need to watch the rest of Season 4 and then I’ll need to catch up with Season 5. I have plenty of time to catch up with the show before Season 6 gets here. Season 6 will air on Showtime sometime in Sept., I believe. The show is usually on Sept. every year.

Cool Video: About Lindsay Lohan’s, Leno appearance last night…

So I watched the Lindsay Lohan interview with Jay Leno last night. As we all know, this is Lindsay’s first TV appearance in a long while. Not only she went on there to help promote the new “Gotti” film that she’s in, they talked a lot of jail stuff and I was surprised how honest she was at everything. Everyone calls her a bad person, but after seeing her interview, I saw her as a nice, sweet, and fun person. She also seems very honest. She did a great job on the interview. I was pretty impressed with her, actually, and she just got a lot more respect from me. She is looking good and she is looking a lot better. Congrats Lindsay.

Watch her interview on Leno, here.

“Lost” is my next choice of TV show for Netflix…

So I decided to watch the first two episodes of “Lost” tonight, and so far, the show is very good. I’m a huge fan of JJ Abrams work, and I never got to see “Lost” on TV. There’s so many TV shows I wanted to see in the past but never got around to seeing them. Oh man, thank god for Netflix. I also want to catch up with “Heroes” and “24”. Netflix also has all 7 seasons of “Macgyver” on there too. I’ve seen a lot of “Macgyver”. Damn, so many great stuff on Netflix that it’s going to be a long while for me to catch up with everything that I have never got a chance to see. Netflix is going to be very addicting to me for sure!

I only watch TV and movies at night. It’s not healthy to do that stuff during the day, in my opinion. During the day, you must do active things and be out of the house more. I watch TV at night ’cause it helps make me sleepy easier.
