HONOLULU — Hawai‘i will be the location for “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” the fourth installment of the highly successful Walt Disney Pictures’ action adventure film series starring Johnny Depp, according to a news release Monday from the governor’s office.

The Walt Disney Company President and CEO Bob Iger met with Gov. Linda Lingle on Friday to share the news that the islands of Kaua‘i and O‘ahu will be sites for the production of the feature film, which will begin shooting this summer and is slated to be released in summer 2011.

The production is expected to generate an estimated $85 million in direct and indirect spending in Hawai‘i, providing a needed economic boost for the state’s economy as well as creating hundreds of jobs for local residents, the release states.

“Disney’s long-term commitment to Hawai‘i — from ABC’s ‘LOST’ to the new Disney resort on O‘ahu scheduled to open in 2011, and now the upcoming filming of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ — is a testament to the company’s confidence in our state as a great place to do business,“ Lingle said.

“The Walt Disney Company has a great relationship with Hawai‘i that we’re looking forward to building upon with the filming of the latest adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew,” said Iger.

“We’ve always sought out the most extraordinary and exotic locations for the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films,” said producer Jerry Bruckheimer, “and previously shot briefly on both Maui and Moloka‘i for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.’ Hawai‘i provides an amazing range of both land and seascapes, and we’re delighted to return for ‘On Stranger Tides.’”

The state’s Creative Industries Division and the Hawai‘i Film Office, which are housed in the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, began working with Disney last year and organized a series of meetings and conference calls to help secure the business.

Georja Skinner, the state’s Creative Industries Division administrator who oversees operations of the Hawai‘i Film Office, worked collaboratively with the governor’s office, Department of Taxation and Tourism Liaison Marsha Wienert, along with Hawai‘i Tourism Authority, Hawai‘i Visitors and Convention Bureau, Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau, the Kaua‘i Film Office, the City and County’s Honolulu Film Office, The Resort Group, Ko Olina Resort and Disney Vacation Club to help secure “Pirates of the Caribbean” for Hawai‘i.

“Hawai‘i competes on a global basis for productions and to have Disney choose Hawai‘i over other states and countries is a huge win for us,” said Skinner. “Creative industries are by nature collaborative and what I think made a difference for us is the combination of our tax incentive as well as local film, travel and destination industry support.”

“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” joins a list of feature film and television productions slated to film in Hawai‘i this year. Warner Bros. feature “Hereafter,” directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Matt Damon, completed filming on Maui last week.

Pre-production is also beginning for the feature film “The Descendents,” starring George Clooney and directed by Academy Award-winning writer/director Alexander Payne. The film is based on the book by Hawai‘i resident Kau‘i Hart Hemmings. Several network pilots, as well as a Japanese drama series and a Korean drama series are also scouting Hawai‘i for projects this year.

Thought: Do you realize that Conan O’ Brien is officially bigger than Johnny Carson now?

Jeff Zucker may have been trying to destroy Conan’s career, but he didn’t do a great job trying to ruin Conan. What did this do? This controversy did nothing but make Conan O’ Brien an even bigger star. Conan is fucking everywhere! Conan is getting support everywhere you see. From the real people like us, even celebs are supporting him, pretty much everybody.

The Conan Rally in Los Angeles was really amazing stuff. It may have been on MLK day, but I think it was in celebration of that too. It was kind of a march for Conan O’ Brien. Conan is now a legend. A huge megastar. NBC just made Conan O’ Brien the most powerful man on this planet. He’s being talked about everywhere on TV. On the internet. It’s just absolutely amazing and mind blowing to me!

Has any celeb or famous person got this much support before? No. Not that I know of.

I’m sure Jeff Zucker was paying attention to the rally. You’d think after all the bad publicity that Jeff and NBC is getting, you’d think he would give what the people would want? Nope. Not with NBC. Conan’s a smart guy for backing out on NBC. It wouldn’t be fair for Jimmy Fallon and Carson Daly, if Conan kept the 12:05 spot. Conan is an icon and legend now.

I’m sure today was very emotional for Conan at the rally, and I’m sure he was crying his eyes out. I would be, if that was me.

The rally was amazing stuff, with La Bamba making an appearance, also the Masturbating Bear showed up at the rally, Andy Richter made an appearance too on rooftop. I was hoping to see Triumph the Insult Dog but that character didn’t show up either.

Conan is a mega star now and he’s about to get even bigger whatever network he appears on next. Will he still be on regular TV or will he get on a cable station? I’d say he should get on cable TV so he can be world known. I’ve been watching Conan and following his show for a long long time. He’s not only the king of late night comedy, he’s the king of TV. The man is just amazing!

Report: James Cameron buries the hatchet with fan…

Remember the fight James Cameron got into with the fan at LAX airport? Where they shouted at each other and calling each other “assholes”? Well Cameron spotted the guy hanging at the Beverly Hills Hotel and decided to make peace with the fan that wanted an autograph. Although they seem to be friends now, I think the only reason Cameron did it was that he was too excited for his big Golden Globe win for “Best Director/Best Picture” of “Avatar”. He wanted to show some heart.

I think a director like Cameron, sometimes he’s on his good days and he’s on his bad days. Maybe back at the LAX airport incident, he was just having a lousy day which he didn’t feel like dealing with fans that night. His Golden Globe wins made Cameron a happier guy.

About fitness pics or videos of myself…

I talked about fitness so much online that you probably wonder why I haven’t showed myself off yet. Keep in mind that I’m not camera shy. Not at all. I was just waiting for more improvements on my physique. Later in the year, when I start getting better results, maybe I will start showing off my muscles. I won’t be that big yet…but you might notice a change that I maybe starting to look pretty fit. It’s been almost a year already since I’ve started bodybuilding and yes, I’m committed to this for life. I hope to continue to improve later in the year as I will not give this up. Getting big and strong is a slow process. So it may take me a couple more years or way more to get the look I want. I’m noticing a difference and small results, so it’s working. My goal is to get that muscle and beefy look that all guys want. I take this fitness thing very seriously. It’s my new addiction and my new passion other than music.

Golden Globes thoughts, actually wasn’t a bad show…

Just got done watching the “Golden Globes”. Wasn’t a bad show. Pretty decent. Some great choices and a few bad ones.

See the winners here:

A few shockers that I never saw coming. Robert Downey Jr. for “Sherlock Holmes” and Jeff Bridges “Crazy Heart”, I never thought they would get it. Good choices on them. I was also shocked by John Lithgow winning for “Dexter” that was also surprising.

I was also kind of surprised that Tina Fey didn’t even win anything this year, which is actually good, give someone else a chance finally.

I didn’t like Alec Baldwin winning again.

I’m happy for Kevin Bacon winning for “Taking Chance” as I want to see that movie that’s based on HBO. I’m glad for Drew Barrymore, she never won something that big before and she admitted it on stage during her acceptance speech. I’m sure Drew Barrymore won other small awards for her films but she never won anything that big for the Globes/Oscars. It’s about time too.

Ricky Gervais the host, was actually pretty funny, I laughed at his jokes. Of course, there had to be a few jokes about the “Jay Leno vs. Conan O’ Brien” feud tonight. Ricky Gervais and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger both joked about it.

The only reason I watched tonight’s “Golden Globes” was that so I can tell what the potential Oscar nominations will be.

I’ve seen most of the movies nominated except for “Julie and Julia”, “It’s Complicated”, and “Precious”. I’ll be looking forward to seeing them when they hit DVD. “Julie and Julia” is already on DVD and I’ll see that one when I get around to it. I like Meryl Streep too.

Not a bad show overall, lets hope the Oscars will be a little better. We will know the Oscar nominations very soon on Feb. 2nd which is just around the corner.

Sarah Palin’s “Going Rogue”…this woman inspires me for a lot of reasons…

I love Sarah Palin. Why? The answer is really simple….inspiration. Yes, Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, is inspiring. You can love her or hate her, but you know she’s an inspiration for all to this world. Talk all kinds of negative shit and hate her all you want. She is here to change the world and to inspire everybody.

I just got done reading her book, “Going Rogue”. It was a very inspiring read. Hard to put down. Her thoughts and her rants, may drive you crazy. Yes, but that’s one of the reasons why I love her. She tells things like it is. I’ve been a supporter and fan of Sarah Palin ever since the election. She is quite the incredible woman. Not only that she looks good, she’s got a pretty interesting family and lifestyle.

In her book, she talks about her political life and her life outside of politics as well. Everything’s in there. How she became mayor of Wasilla, how she became governor of Alaska, she talked about how she first met John McCain, cleared things up about accusations of her banning books, trashed Fox news, she talked pregnancy and how she’s against abortion, a lot of Alaska talk, how she married her husband Todd and raised her family, etc. Everything is in there. She even talked about that funny youtube video at a turkey farm with this guy killing turkeys in the background, remember that? Of couse, this drama with Bristol Palin’s baby is in there as well. She talked about how she exposed President Obama being associated with terrorists from his past and being part of ACORN.

There is a lot of reasons why she is inspiring and will become the next President of the United States. Yes, I said it. Everybody knows it. It’s going to happen. She had my vote as Vice President during the last election and she’ll get my vote again if she decides to run for Prez in 2012. I’m pretty sure she will run ’cause she kind of hinted at it at the end of her book. People may hate her now. In the future, I think she will get the respect she deserves.

The only reason I think a lot of people hate her is because she’s a woman, she’s good looking and she raises a family which she does a good job at. People hating on her is the only reason she will  be the next elected President. I loved it when she appeared on Bill O’ Reilly and Glen Beck. She has negative beef at Obama? Is she bashing Obama ’cause she’s jealous? Maybe a little bit, but she’s just telling things like it is. I love how she uses her facebook page to rant about Obama. Obama has a shady past that many people don’t know about and she’s doing a good job exposing him.

Loyal Sarah Palin fan. Sarah for President!

Adrien Brody on the set of Predators and a few other pics…

Robert Rodriguez has finally started filming, “Predators”. Here is a pic of Adrien Brody on set. I used to be worried of Adrien taking over Arnold’s place, but to my surprise, I actually like it so far. Adrien has a good look for this role. Maybe he does has what it takes to be a tough guy badass after all? I’ll wait for a teaser trailer first and then I’ll make my decision if I want to see this in theater or not. In the background if you look closely you notice the original Stan Winston predator. So this might be a great movie after all!
