Cool Video: Sorry, but the “Sherlock Holmes” movie doesn’t look good at all…

Sherlock Holmes is supposed to be a mystery detective story, and Guy Ritchie’s take on Sherlock Holmes, he turned it into a cheesy action/comedy. The Sherlock Holmes movie doesn’t look great, looks like a wait for DVD thing to me.

Thought: Other than William Shatner… will other “Trek” cast mates appear in the upcoming sequels???

There are talks of William Shatner returning to “Star Trek” sequel by JJ Abrams. What about the other original cast mates appearing in the next movie? Do you think it’s possible if they can bring back George Takei as the original Sulu, James Doohan as Scotty, Walter Koenig as Chekov and Nichelle Nichols as the original Uhura to make cameos in the next one too?

Will they even somehow throw in Captain Picard if Patrick Stewart agrees to make a Star Trek return?

It’s funny how everyone wants Kirk and Spock back into the new movies when they forget the other cast mates. I’m sure JJ will somehow write in a cameo spot for other Star Trek actors.

Kirstie Alley made a cameo in JJ’s “Star Trek”, as you may or may not know, Kirstie Alley played one of the leading characters, Lt. Saavik in “Star Trek II, III, and IV”.

Report: Pearl Jam and Will Ferrell set for “The Tonight Show” Conan O’ Brien’s debut…

On Conan O’ Brien’s debut of “The Tonight Show” on NBC which will be June 1st, two confirmed guests has been announced already. Former SNL star and comedian, Will Ferrell is set to be special guest for Conan’s first “Tonight Show” episode. The musical guest will be my very favorite band, Pearl Jam.

Since Pearl Jam just headed into the studio to record new songs, Pearl Jam will not have any new songs to perform on “The Tonight Show”. I would think Pearl Jam would perform a few songs off the album, “Ten” from the new re-issue. Pearl Jam would probably play either, “Alive”, “Jeremy”, “Black” or “Even Flow”.

The Associated Press reports:

I don’t really like Will Ferrell that much, but I’m looking forward to seeing Pearl Jam.

Pearl Jam hasn’t performed on national TV in a long long time. They’re probably just doing it for the “Ten” re-issue.

Can’t wait to see this!!!

Report: Bradley Cooper to play Faceman Peck in “A-Team” movie?

Woah! Now what a perfect choice for Faceman Peck? HELL YEAH! I’d say get him! Bradley Cooper is dead on with the Faceman looks! Amazing!!!! Lets hope Twentieth Century Fox confirms the news that Bradley is in!!!

Glad that FOX finally started casting for the “A-Team” movie.

MTV Movies Blog reports:

I don’t agree with Kurt Russell as Hannibal though. Stupid MTV.

Take a look at Hannibal’s picture from the series:

Take a good look at his face and see what celebrity actor reminds you of? It don’t have to be the same hair color ’cause Hollywood can always change an actor’s hair color to the same as Hannibal’s. The actor has to match his face.

I think the perfect candidate for Hannibal is ….

*drum roll please*

Dennis Quaid…

Perfect teeth, the smile is kind of similar… Dennis would look great in that white hair and big cigar in his mouth. He’s my pick.

Thought: Performing is boring…musicians have to admit it…

I’m probably going to get slammed by musicians out there for saying this but I gotta get this off my chest anyway. I know unsigned and amateur musicians everywhere think that performing music in front of an audience may be a cool thing, it may be a blast, and you may think it’s the best thing going on in your life…but come on…really?

What is so special about bringing your instruments to some small shithole bar, cafe or a nightclub with a big stage? I’ve seen live music lots of times over the years and I’ve been noticing that a lot of musicians are looking pretty bored to death playing their instruments on stage. They claim that the shows they play are such a blast, but I don’t buy it. Most of the musicians and bands that I’ve seen in the past looks pretty bored, not really showing any excitement or fun.

What is so fun about it? Is it the drinking and the hard partying? The energy of the music? The fans that come out to support it? Or just simply for the love of music alone? I don’t find any fun and excitement in any of it really. Playing music in front of people is no different than playing music alone at home.

Yeah, it sure is nice to go to a live show or open mic to perform your original songs in front of an audience and getting good feedback from the public, but you can do that on the internet these days, anyways. I remember a reader in this blog saying that the reason most musicians perform is that we crave that we are in the center of your attention, an ego kind of thing.

The only thing on the musicians mind is being in the spotlight and the only thing they care about  is promoting themselves. That’s why we play live shows. What is so rewarding and gifted about playing your music live? What is so special about it? It ain’t like you’ve been taken to the next level and been handed a trophy or anything.

Instead of concentrating on making music and songwriting, they’d rather waste time getting their name out there and shove themselves in people’s faces. I care about making the good music that I’m proud of instead of being obsessed with forcing people to listen to it and manipulating them to like it.

The reality is, most musicians that write their own songs think they need to get it out there by playing live shows when you don’t really need to. Just make the music for yourself, and who knows, your music will get out there on it’s own. They don’t really need to promote themselves to death. I don’t promote my stuff at all, well, except for this blog and other sites online.

The point of this blog post, is that you must worry about your own music, loving it, and not worry about how many people listen to it. You can either have tons of fans or no fans at all, just be happy to what you do. That’s what I find fun in music is writing songs for yourself. You have to admit sometimes that there is really nothing fun and cool about performing on stage. It is only cool that if you’re creating art out of your mind.

Kev

Edit to add: Btw, I’m not trying to be a selfish person in this post ’cause I’m not a selfish person like most musicians are, and I’m NOT putting down my supporters or anything as I appreciate the support, I’m just being a little honest that there isn’t anything special about performing live and I can tell you right now, that many musicians out there are being dishonest about it.

Report: “Farrah’s Story” will just keep filming, Ryan O’ Neal says…

Beats me as to why Farrah and her family wants to make her tough times public for the whole world to see. If you think NBC should leave her family alone and let them be in private, this documentary wasn’t up to NBC. Farrah and her family wanted this entire thing to be filmed. Ryan O’ Neal went to NBC to make this happen.

As long as they don’t video tape her death on camera and air it, imagine how much controversy that would create? I don’t think they’ll video tape her death for TV, I don’t think NBC would allow something like that, anyways.

I think the reason for video taping everything is to give people a wake up call about cancer. I don’t think Farrah and her family is out there to get attention, I think they want to inspire other people with cancer  or save people from getting cancer.

More on it here:

Hollywood is probably waiting to do a Farrah Fawcett biopic film, they might be waiting for her death first and then they’ll make it happen. I don’t mean to sound crazy, but this is how Hollywood media works these days.

My Samsung Home Theater system…

My new surround sound system, a Samsung, sounds really great. It’s made for both, a music stereo and a movie theater. So far, I’ve watched the movies “Serenity” and “Taken” with my Home Theater over the weekend, it has incredible sound. I have also been playing music CD’s on it and it plays just like a regular music stereo.

I haven’t hooked up my PS3 video game console yet to the home theater ’cause I need two HDMI cables for it. This is what I wanted a home theater system for so I can have kickass sound watching DVD movies, listening to music and playing video games with.

I’ll have to wait ’til I get payed this week to get the second HDMI cable and then I’ll be able to play video games with it. I sure can’t wait to play my PS3 through the home theater system though.

Look for the best video games with great sound and it’ll be fuckin’ killer on a surround sound! Play games like “Dead Space”, “Bioshock” or the “Guitar Hero” games in 5.1 Surround Sound? Hell yeah.

So far, I’m very pleased with my surround sound system, and I’m definitely keeping this. Oh yeah, the thing is 1,000 watts so you can crank this way up ’til you get anything with glasses in your house breaking. I’m never going to crank it that loud though. The thing is that powerful.

This thing totally rocks!
