My Top 5 Metallica albums…

Yeah, I know, another Metallica post, but I need to get this off my chest, to show you what my favorite Metallica albums are. The studio ones with original songs. My top Metallica albums in order:

1. Master of Puppets

(This will always be their best album ever made. This has always been my favorite metal and rock album, this album is hands down a masterpiece. Everything about this album is with perfection and amazing…)

2. Death Magnetic

(My second favorite album by Metallica, I still can’t believe the music on this great disc, it is definitely one of their best albums in years, an album full of tight songs and lots of “emotion” in the songwriting, very powerful music)

3. And Justice For All

(It is probably the darkest album they’ve ever done, it is a loud album but the songwriting is great, this is one of my most listened to Metallica albums)

4. The Black Album

(This album is real good, however, I find this to be a little overrated, some of these songs you can get sick and tired of hearing so many times but this album is a classic don’t get me wrong….)

5. Reload

(Out of the band’s three new albums, “Load”, “Reload” and “St. Anger”. I would find “Reload” being the great one. This album is staying away from “metal” but going for the alternative rock sound sure, but there are amazing songs on this disc. I like this album very much, it is another Metallica record I listen to quite often)

Metal Gear Solid 4

So I’ve finally started playing the video game “Metal Gear Solid 4” for the Ps3 for the past 4 or 5 days. The game is absolutely amazing. Great graphics and it almost feels like a movie. I’m playing this game in the “Solid: Normal” level so I can learn how to do the controls and get the hang of things first before I play the difficult mode. Once I beat the game in the “Normal” mode, then I’ll play the game over again by trying to beat the “difficult” mode. The game is killer though. Great action, good story. I’m already getting kind of far in the game. Even in the “normal” mode, the game is still pretty challenging and difficult.

I’ve been saving up money for a new TV so my video games can look better. I’m going for a 37 inch flat screen plasma TV with High Definition. I don’t need a big 50 inch flat screen, 37 is big enough for me. Best Buy has great prices on flat screen plasmas, when I come up with the cash soon, I’ll go for the 37 inch flat screen TV then.

I don’t watch a lot of cable TV (only a few shows), I’m just getting a new TV soon so my video games can look better and to watch movies on of course. I just want a better look and better sound for video gaming. Video games looks and sounds fine on a regular TV, but I want something even better. Get into the gaming experience!

Thought: Michael Phelps should stick to swimming…not acting…

So I watched the season premiere of the new SNL last night with Michael Phelps hosting. I hate today’s SNL, the series is not as good anymore as it was in the old days, but the only reason I watched it last night was I was curious on how Michael Phelps is going to do in acting, since he never had an acting role before.

In my opinion, he was pretty bad. And like I predicted, the SNL writers gave the kid simple lines to say since he never acted before. He didn’t really talk all that much during comedy skits. If he wants to start an acting career, he needs to work on his speaking voice.

That is why actors become good actors because they have great speaking voices. Michael Phelps doesn’t have it. He should stick with sports and swimming, than trying to get fame in the entertainment media.

The only good thing about last night’s SNL was Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin with Amy Poehler as Hillary, that was hilarious. I actually laughed at the segment. In the Michael Phelps opening, the William Shatner segment was funny as well.

Since Barack Obama was supposed to be on there last night but he had to pull out due to Hurricane Ike, I’m willing to bet that Barack was originally supposed to talk to Michael Phelps from the audience in the opening skit, since Barack had to pull out, I bet SNL hired William Shatner on the last minute since he was in town.

I don’t really like SNL anymore though. I liked the older days of SNL in the 80’s and early 90’s when Adam Sandler, Kevin Nealon, Chris Farley, Chris Kattan, Will Ferrell, and all those guys used to be around. SNL is no longer the same anymore.

Report: Activision denied Brett Ratner’s permission to make “Guitar Hero” live action film…

Since film maker Brett Ratner has expressed his interest in making a live action “Guitar Hero” film adapted from the hit video game, Ratner himself asked Activision if he could make a film on it. Well, Activision says NO!

Although Activision didn’t give Ratner permission to make the film, he isn’t giving up and he’s going to continue to pursue it.

More on it here:

Way to go Activision! Yeah!

I don’t want Hollywood making a Guitar Hero movie at all no matter who’s directing it. It would kill the sales of the video games and hurt the music industry themselves.

Activision did a smart move here!

Report: First look at Terry Gilliam’s “Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”…

There is a behind the scenes video of Terry Gilliam’s next film “Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”. The film that was originally going to star Heath Ledger in the leading role but due to his death, Heath only got a small cameo. The film also stars Jude Law, Johnny Depp, Collin Farrell, Verne Troyer, Tom Waits, etc. Check it out in the link below to see the behind the scenes featurette. The film looks way cool and unique. Looking forward to seeing it when it comes out.

This is the last Heath Ledger film, not “The Dark Knight”. This was the film that Heath was still working on before his death. Remember that now.

Terry Gilliam is a great film maker.

Congratulations to Metallica!!!

I can not stay off the band’s website listening to their new album. Death Magnetic is fucking mind blowing!!!! I’m reading critic reviews and fan reviews in mesage boards/blogs, and so far everything I’ve read about Metallica has been positive about the new stuff! Amazing! The band has been getting so much negative hate over the years and Metallica finally realized what the fans wanted. The old Metallica! I haven’t seen one negative thing about Metallica online so far. It is just amazing. Metallica has officially silenced the haters and I knew they would.

The band has got a change of heart toward internet piracy, which is also amazing. When people steal the album off the band, you don’t see them getting angry like Axl Rose would. Metallica is back! After years and years of the band Metallica going through so much negative heat, the band finally wants to take their career to a positive direction.

I’m never really all that impressed with national famous acts but when it comes to Metallica, yes, I am impressed. Of how they quickly went to bad and to good. “Death Magnetic” is fucking fantastic and I can’t wait to get my hands on my own copy of the CD next week. I think it’s definitely hands down the best album of 2008. To be honest, I don’t really have a favorite track on the new album, I LOVE THEM ALL!

Expect “Death Magnetic” to be no. 1 on the Billboard for at least a few weeks. I don’t really like too much new music of today but I really love Metallica’s new work. Metallica is the best thing going in the music industry right now. Congrats to James, Lars, Kirk and Rob. You guys finally smartened up and know what we want from you guys. 🙂

Book Review: “New Moon” by Stephenie Meyer…

I’ve just finished reading “New Moon” part 2 of 4 of the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer this afternoon.

The story of this one revolves around a young Bella Swan who celebrates her birthday with the Cullen family, a vampire family who is the family of Edward Cullen. Bella accidently cuts her finger on a piece of paper which she starts bleeding. A new member of the Cullen family, Jasper, attacks Bella after he noticed he couldn’t stop thirsting for human blood.

Edward Cullen, Bella’s vampire boyfriend, then finally realizes that he is too dangerous to be around her. So Edward basically leaves her and he isn’t in the novel for mostly the whole story. Edward is only in the beggining and toward the end of the novel. Bella meets a new friend named Jacob Black, who helps Bella made a motorcycle get working again. She wanted to get a motorcycle working and learn how to drive one so she can travel around and find Edward. Jacob kept a dark secret from Bella, she later then discovered that Jacob is a werewolf. Jacob introduced Bella a group of friends which they are his pack of other werewolves, they enjoy cliff diving.

Later in the novel, Bella tries to go cliff diving herself, Jacob saved her life. Edward thought she was dead from the cliff diving incident so Edward travels to Italy to see the Volturi, a group of peace keeping vampires who are able to kill Edward. Bella and her vampire friend Alice, travel to Italy to stop Edward to save his life in return. The book once again ends (without giving any major spoilers) with speculation whether Bella will turn herself into a vampire. Does she turn into a vampire this time?

As far as my thoughts on “New Moon” goes. Not as good “Twilight” the first one but still a good read. I like the mix of werewolves and vampires. There are quite a bit of shocking twists and turns toward the end that I liked. While the novel is aimed directly at the teenage generation, there is still a little more violence, blood and the gore is starting to kick in some. I really liked the novel.

Stephenie Meyer, great writer. It’s great to finally read a vampire story that is different than all the others. Many vampire stories are all about evil and turning other people into vampires, but the Twilight series is a different thing. The Twilight series are aimed at young adults, but hey, isn’t the Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Harry Potter are aimed at young adults too? Yep. You’re never too old to read these things.

Score for “New Moon” by Stephenie Meyer = *** (3 stars as in good)

Report: Metallica’s “All Nightmare Long” is the theme song for WWE “No Mercy” ppv…

WWE has announced they will use the new Metallica song “All Nightmare Long” as the official theme song for the next WWE pay per view “No Mercy”. This will be good promotion for both Metallica and WWE, which is why the two agreed to work with each other.

Metallica’s “Death Magnetic” is in Best Buy stores every where exclusively today.

More on it here:

I think “All Nightmare Long” is one of the best songs on the disc other than “The Judas Kiss” being one of their best songs as well. The entire album is great. The best work the band has done in years. “Death Magnetic” doesn’t top “Master of Puppets”, but “Death Magnetic” is definitely better than the “Black Album” I would say.
