Report: Sissy Spacek finally gets a star for the Hollywood Walk of Fame!!! It’s about damn time too!!

Sissy Spacek who rose to fame for her role in Stephen King’s “Carrie” finally gets a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It’s about time too. Why does this have to happen now when this should have happened to her a long time ago? Congrats Sissy!

More on the story, here.

I’ll be going on vacation to Los Angeles, California to visit family members that moved there in the Fall and I’m probably going to check out the Walk of Fame. I’m looking forward to checking out L.A. for the first time as I never been to Hollywood before. Always wanted to. Soon I’ll be able to in Oct. I’ve been to San Diego in California but never Los Angeles yet.

BREAKING NEWS: Peter Berg confirms “Friday Night Lights” movie is happening!!!

Peter Berg, the man himself, confirmed that “Friday Night Lights” movie sequel with the current cast of the TV show is definitely gonna happen. Universal Studios already gave the film the green light and Peter also confirmed a script is being written. They already got Brian Grazer to produce and they plan to start filming in 2012.

There have already been a “Friday Night Lights” movie that starred Billy Bob Thornton in the leading role, but the next movie will be adapted from the TV show. The article says Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler will reprise their roles for the movie version but doesn’t say if the original cast from the TV show will return.

Deadline, reports.

At the end of FNL – Season 5, it ended with Tami and Coach Eric Taylor leaving Dillon to move to Philadelphia, P.A. So the movie will be taken place in Philadelphia.

I’m hoping the rest of the cast will be back for the movie too.

I’m excited. Glad they’re doing a movie version. I’m sure it will be a box office success and I hope Peter Berg himself directs the film.

Cool Photos & Videos: Batman vs. Bane for “The Dark Knight: Rises”

Christopher Nolan’s next Batman flick, “The Dark Knight: Rises” is currently filming and photos and videos of filming the movie have been leaked online. Here are photos and videos of Batman vs. Bane fighting outside of the City Hall building while there’s a brawl going on with other people. I don’t think that’s Christian Bale in the Batman suit, doesn’t look like him. Looks like a stunt double for sure. Still cool to watch though.

Enjoy these, here.

BREAKING NEWS: Kings of Leon US tour cancelled due to Caleb Followill’s health problems…

If you local readers are looking forward to seeing Kings of Leon at SPAC this year in Saratoga Springs, you’re out of luck, because the band has officially cancelled their US tour, due to Caleb Followill (guitarist/singer) having health issues.

The band announced it at their official site, here.

I’m going to have to agree with everyone else, that it definitely has something to do with his drug & alcohol problem. I hope he gets his act together, or he’s going to end up like Amy Winehouse.

Report: Scott Weiland wants to rejoin Velvet Revolver!!!

Scott Weiland have been fired from Velvet Revolver a few years back due to having a bad attitude, being a drunk and having an ego problem, but things seem to be doing okay with him and the band now. Scott claims he have patched things up with the rest of the guys in Velvet Revolver. The band is getting along with him fine again. They still keep in touch like brothers. Scott revealed that he wants to rejoin the band for a few shows if possible. The other guys in the band are actually taking it in consideration ’cause they are having a tough time trying to find a new singer (they haven’t found anyone yet). Matt Sorum admits that it’s really hard to replace Scott.

Look like they can’t find a different vocalist that would fit the style of their music. Only Scott’s voice can fit the music, so Scott is pretty much the star of the band, he can’t be replaced.

I’m sure everybody will accuse Scott of starting trouble again when he rejoins the band, but I don’t think that will happen. He rejoined Stone Temple Pilots and their latest run seemed to go fine with no problems. I think it’ll be okay if Scott rejoined Velvet Revolver. I like Velvet Revolver even though I haven’t bought their albums. I did hear all of their hits on the radio though.

Ryan Gosling filming “The Place Beyond the Pines” in Schenectady, N.Y…

Movie star, Ryan Gosling (who can be seen in movies such as “The Notebook”, “Blue Valentine”, “Crazy, Stupid, Love”, etc.), is filming his next movie, “The Place Beyond the Pines” in the Capital District area. First, Ryan Gosling and his film crew filmed for a little bit in Scotia, N.Y. Next, they’ve been filming in Schenectady, N.Y. all weekend, and I believe they are still there.

See pictures of Ryan (check out his huge muscular arms, holy shit!) on set at a firehouse in Schenectady at this link, here.

The Capital District area seems to be Hollywood’s favorite area to film movies as there has been several big films that were made in this area. Films such as “Ironweed”, “The Horse Whisperer”, “Seabiscuit”, “The Time Machine” (remake), “SALT”, “The Other Guys”, etc. The Capital District area continues to be Hollywood’s favorite area to film and “The Place Beyond the Pines” is the latest.

I wonder what it is that Hollywood likes about the Capital District area? I’ve always wondered that. I think it may have something to do with money. It must be cheaper to film here than other states.

Happy Birthday Jerry Garcia!!!

August is a special month for Deadheads. Why? Because August 1st is the day Jerry Garcia was born in the year 1942 and Jerry died several days later in 1995 of the same month! If Jerry was still alive, he would have been 69 right now. If Jerry was still alive, I’m pretty sure he would still be doing what he loved doing best. Playing with the Grateful Dead. If he was still around, I’m sure the Grateful Dead would still be together today, making albums and touring like they always did. Sometimes I wondered what it would be like if the Grateful Dead with Jerry fronting was still here today. I’m sure they wouldn’t lose their popularity.

I’m a pretty big Grateful Dead fan like all the others. Some people don’t see it, but yes, I’m a Deadhead. I’ve never seen the Grateful Dead in concert when Jerry was alive but I’ve wished I did. RIP Jerry. He maybe gone, but his legacy still lives on to this day!

Book Review: “Storm of Swords” by George R. R. Martin

So I finished the book, “Storm of Swords” last week by George R. R. Martin and so far, I think this book is the best one of the “Song of Ice and Fire” series. This one is the most shocking with a lot of twists and turns. It’s also a very sad novel too.

Plot/Synopsis (with no spoilers): A Storm of Swords picks up the story where A Clash of Kings ended. The Seven Kingdoms is in the grip of the War of the Five Kings, with Robb Stark, Balon Greyjoy, Renly, Joffrey and Stannis Baratheon fighting to secure their crowns, although Renly Baratheon has already died. Stannis Baratheon’s attempt to take King’s Landing has been defeated by the new alliance between House Lannister (backing Joffrey) and House Tyrell, whilst House Martell has also pledged its support to the Lannisters. Meanwhile, a large host of wildlings is marching on the Wall under Mance Rayder, with only the tiny force of the Night’s Watch in its path, and in the distant east Daenerys Targaryen is on her way back to Pentos in the hope of raising forces to retake the Iron Throne.

The novel begins in the final months of 299 After the Landing and carries on into the year 300 AL.

This book was quite a thrill. The book is long, over 900 pages, but somehow I read it very quickly. That’s how great it is. The moment you start, you’ll never want to put the book down, believe me. I’m not going to give out spoilers, but the reason this book is very sad and emotional is because some of the major characters are killed off. I’m not going to say who. Just wait until you read the controversial “Red Wedding” chapter in the middle of the book that everyone is talking about. That chapter is so shocking, it’ll make your jaw drop open. When I finished the book, I just had to re-read the “Red Wedding” chapter again, trying to make sure if I read that chapter right.

In this book, you will not see the good guys win. You will see the most important characters make the stupidest mistakes. Each character has a mission that they want to achieve. One character wants to reunite with their long lost loved ones but you’ll know in this book, that doesn’t always happen. Sometimes story lines in the series do end with a happy ending, but not very much.

The stories continue with each character having their own separate storyline much like the earlier books. The characters continue their adventures. Each character and each adventure has different emotions. Some stories are enjoyable, happy, sad, and some will make you pissed off. The story lines will have excellent mysteries building and will keep you guessing ’til the very end.

I also love how magic and wizards have nothing to do with these books. Magic and wizards have always been a huge part of Medieval stories but not with George R.R. Martin. In the books, “magic” and “wizards” seem pretty fictional to the characters.

Queen Daenerys is more controlling and demanding in this book and Tyrion is more funnier than ever. Arya Stark continues her adventure to make her way back to Rivverun but of course, she meets new characters and other things happen to her.

George R.R. Martin is a masterful storyteller and a genius writer. I really love his writing style and beginning to like him more than Stephen King.

This book “Storm of Swords” is really gory and nasty. The way the gore is described, it’ll make your stomach turn. So if you have a weak stomach, this isn’t the book for you. It might want to make you put the book down and look away a bit at some parts. I’m usually never grossed out and disgusted at fictional stories, but this one pretty much did it to me.

Just wait until this book lands on HBO when they start making this book for TV. I’m currently reading the 4th book, “Feast for Crows”. I did buy the new 5th book, “Dance with Dragons” but I need to finish the 4th one first. I just hope George R.R. Martin keeps writing these novels. Sorry Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling, but it looks like George R.R. Martin will take your spotlight.

5 TNA stars that could go for a full time WWE run…

Since former TNA star, Awesome Kong has been recently signed to WWE, I’m sure other TNA stars could go for a WWE run too. What are other TNA “Impact Wrestling” stars could go for full time WWE run?

I will name 5 important TNA stars that would be great for WWE:

1. Samoa Joe – Samoa Joe is one of TNA’s biggest stars, WWE fans want him so who knows, maybe he’ll come to WWE soon since it looks like he may soon leave TNA. I heard his contract at TNA is up and he doesn’t plan on re-signing or something like that.

2. AJ Styles – He’s getting a lot of recognition in the wrestling community, getting more popularity. I think he could be a great main eventer for WWE too.

3. Sting – The Stinger never worked for WWE ever, but who knows maybe one day he’ll have a change of heart with WWE and maybe he’ll make a run sometime in the future. I doubt it though.

4. Abyss – This guy have been creating a lot of controversy in TNA. I think he would do the same to WWE if he was ever signed.

5. Velvet Sky – Most of the women in TNA are horrible. Most women are bad performers and bad wrestlers, but Velvet Sky is the only one worth paying attention to who actually has some talent. She’s hot, she wrestles good and she’s a good mic worker as well. I can see her getting signed to WWE at some point, hopefully she will.

That’s it. Just bored on a Sunday and wanted to come up with a fun topic. Enjoy.

“Superman III” is not a bad movie that everyone thinks it is…

Critics and movie fans, thinks “Superman III” is the worst film of the whole series. I just watched this movie again on Blu Ray while going through this new “Superman: The Motion Picture Anthology” Blu Ray set. Want to know what I think of this film now? I love it a lot more! This movie isn’t bad at all. In fact, it’s my favorite of the whole series.

Warner Bros. clearly wanted to make this movie a different Superman movie than the first two. The reason people are complaining about “Superman III” was that Superman wasn’t used much in this film. No Lex Luthor and not much Lois Lane. Plus, everyone hated Richard Pryor’s character, Gus Gorman. People also hated all the comedy that was thrown into the film.

I’m going to explain everything why Warner Bros. and director, Richard Lester did what they did. The reason Superman and Lois Lane wasn’t used too much because those two characters were pretty much used throughout the first two movies. Warner Bros. wanted to give other characters a chance to get more screen time. Superman was used way too much for the first two movies, in this film, they wanted to do something a little different and give Clark Kent more screen time. So in order for it to make it work, Clark went to his high school reunion back to Smallville where he reunited with Lana Lang. Superman had a love interest with Lois, but when he’s Clark Kent, Clark never had a love interest from the first two films. In “Superman III” they wanted Lana Lang to be Clark’s love interest. Clark Kent got more screen time than Superman did because I believe Warner Bros. wanted this film to be Clark’s film. This film went deep into Clark’s past in Smallville.

The reason Richard Pryor was chosen for the leading role, was that Warner Bros. wanted the film to be more comedic. So they hired an experienced comedic actor. They wanted a stand up comedian as the leading character of Gus Gorman so he is able to improvise and ad-lib funny lines. That’s why they hired Richard ’cause he was able to improvise dialogue that wasn’t in the script. They also wanted to give someone else a chance to get the spotlight and not have Superman hog it all.

Another reason for the Gus Gorman character is, since Superman was known to saving other people, Warner Bros. wanted to take this film in a different direction and they wanted someone else to save Superman from danger instead. Gus Gorman was the only one able to save Superman’s life ’cause Gus knew how to use the supercomputer he used at the end of the movie. People mistakenly looked at Gus Gorman as a villain in the film, he never was. He never wanted to kill Superman. Gus did all that work for Ross Webster because Gus was desperate for a job.

This film was a great opportunity for Richard Pryor, after this movie, he became a more mainstream of an actor. After this movie, Richard went on to even bigger films such as “Brewster’s Millions”, “See No Evil, Hear No Evil”, “Harlem Nights”, etc.

The reason “Superman III” was more of a comedy film this time is because the first two Superman films were pretty dark. Warner Bros. wanted to brighten up the mood with the Superman franchise by turning it into a more family friendly entertainment. They also wanted this movie to be a film for kids to enjoy as well.

Lex Luthor wasn’t used because Gene Hackman wasn’t available at the time. I read somewhere Gene turned it down ’cause he was committed to other film projects. So Warner Bros. wrote in an original character, Ross Webster, instead.

I think “Superman III” was a pretty special film. It was action packed, Superman saved a lot of people. Yes, the best scene of the whole movie was obviously Evil Superman vs. Clark Kent the junkyard fight scene.

I think there’s nothing wrong with the film. It’s a really good Superman movie, in my opinion. It’s also Christopher Reeve’s best acting too. Give this film a chance. Give it another viewing. You’ll understand it, the more you watch it.
