Is facebook pretty much worthless now? I would say definitely, yes…

A few years back, I signed on to facebook, so I can personally interact with friends, people I went to school with, family members, local musicians around the scene, etc. Just to keep in touch with people I know and see what they’re up to and all that stuff. That is what facebook was originally used for. I hate the way facebook is now. Facebook was originally supposed to be an online community where people can get together, but it’s not like that anymore. Today all we get is nothing but baby photos, pics of people’s pets, facebook is loaded with stupid memes and inspirational quotes, that’s it’s almost pointless to use facebook now.

Don’t get the wrong idea, that I like to add random people and try to get as many friends as possible in facebook. I’m not that desperate for popularity as that is not what I use facebook for. I try not to add random people, but sometimes it can’t be helped, since my web presence is slightly popular still.

In my facebook personal page, I try not to post too much memes and inspirational quotes. I only post something that I like once in a blue moon if it catches my attention and if I agree with. I don’t obsess with the memes too much. My goal on my facebook page is to entertain people the best I can just like I do on here for this site. On my facebook, I like to talk about a variety of topics. I do my best to keep my personal life out of things, although, once in a while, I’ll write in to tell everyone what I’m up to, where I’m going, and once in a while I’ll post a rant about my life off the computer, sure.

I know how to use facebook pretty carefully. I’m starting to dislike facebook now. It is also not the best marketing tool for bands & musicians either, and I’ll have another post about that soon.

This is why I like twitter way better. A lot of people like to shit talk twitter, on how it’s boring and they don’t understand it, but they think like that about twitter ’cause they don’t get much followers and not many people are paying attention to them, even though they have a lot of followers on facebook. Twitter is better for a lot of reasons. I’ll have another post to explain why too. It’s facebook that is bad, that is just my opinion.

People are horrible at using facebook. There are way too many illiterate people around and they’re just irresponsible using social networking sites. Falling for fake “re-share” this giveaway contests, too many accounts has been fished or hacked, people posting way too much drama stuff, etc.

Is it always a good idea to rant about how much life sucks or how much you’re having a bad day? There maybe freedom of speech and you can speak how you please, but in reality, ranting about your personal life which I see people do everyday, is NOT a good idea at all. You can ruin friendships and your family life, get fired from your jobs, all kinds of bad karma will come out of it. I try to stay out of people’s personal business and soap opera stuff when they put that stuff up publicly.

I just want my facebook page positive and entertaining.

Look like Morgan Freeman has another hoax in facebook…

First, Morgan Freeman had a death hoax in facebook, and next, he has a hoax about the Newton, Conn. shootings. In facebook today, there’s an image of Morgan Freeman with him quoting where he explains that he blames the media for the shootings that goes on, and he tells people to turn off the news. You gotta love how people quickly fall for things in Facebook. Even though I don’t believe that Morgan Freeman has said those things, I still agree with it that the news media is partly responsible for gun shootings in America.

Why is Morgan Freeman such a target for hoax’s in facebook lately?

Yes, he’s a great actor and he seems like a good dude. That’s why they start hoax’s on him. He’s a likeable and lovable guy, and people will do anything to get attention off of him. He’s an icon in Hollywood, so people will start stuff on him, so they can get a lot of shares and likes.

This thing has been going around facebook, so I had to respond my thoughts.

As soon as Morgan denies that he said that stuff about the Conn. shooting, somebody in facebook will try to come up with a different hoax on him. People in facebook are crazy and messed up. No wonder some leave the site and no wonder some try to avoid the social network site like the plague.

I know how to use facebook carefully and responsibly. I don’t re-share things too much from other people. I will sometimes though, only if it’s worth it. It’s never cool to make stuff up about someone. They just do it hoping to get their 15 minutes of fame.

Neil Young’s first tweet, he announced a twitter Q&A session:

“Look forward to talking to all of you music lovers. Will be doing a #TwitterLegends Q&A with fans about #PsychPill before the release!”

Look like Neil Young himself, will be posting to people personally after all. Cool! Maybe I’ll participate in his TwitterLegends Q&A sessions. I just need to think of a really good question that doesn’t get repeatedly asked, for a hopeful answer. If you want an answer from a famous person, the trick is asking them things that doesn’t get repeatedly asked by people. They hate that stuff. Write a question that will spark their interest. Should I ask him what his “influences” are or what his favorite “guitar” is? No. I’m sure he gets asked those hundred times a day. Gotta think up a unique question that will get his attention.

I’ve gotten responses from other celebrities when they did online Q&A’s before, and this trick works.

The new myspace redesign is only trying to destroy Facebook…

Mark Zuckerberg, must be a little pissed off now. He should be scared, ’cause Myspace just announced they’re making a huge comeback. Rebuilding myspace with a new site, starting from scratch. Ever since Tom Anderson left Myspace, the social networking site that was once a hot site, went down the shitter. Myspace has been shit for the last several years now. Not only that, it’s just that the previous myspace look, had way too many virus attacks, and the site was full of spam. Adding friends at random was never cool either. I haven’t used myspace in years for that reason. Obviously, most everyone wasn’t happy with myspace, so they all left and now Facebook is a hot social networking site. The new myspace design which should be launched this Fall, is obviously competing with facebook, hoping to get all their old users back.

I saw the new design of myspace and still not crazy about it. I’m sure they’ll clean the site with no virus attacks and spam, sure, but I don’t think I’ll go back to myspace, not sure. I think I’ll stick with facebook. Who knows, when the new myspace design is launched, and if I like it enough, maybe I will get back to using it, but if everyone decides to leave facebook for the new myspace, I guess there’s no choice but to move back there myself.

See the new myspace site, here.

Edit to add: The reason for new re-design is ’cause the site is no longer owned by News Corp. It was News Corp that made the site shit, myspace has new owners now.

Brock doesn’t like how Spotify is taking over the music business…

Isn’t it kind of hypocritical that the music industry goes to war against Napster (thanks to Lars Ulrich of Metallica), that they are mad at people for pirating free music, and then here comes this new software, Spotify? Spotify is similar software to Napster, except the only difference is that the major record labels are on board with Spotify streaming free music (Seriously, this makes the industry a bunch of hypocrites, think about it). Spotify became pretty popular quickly in the music industry. I used it for a little bit, thought it was cool at first, but I don’t want it anymore.

I’m slowly starting to move away from Itunes ’cause I’m not liking Itunes too much anymore either. Take up too much memory, I guess? I’ve been going back to buying regular CD’s instead of buying music digitally.

*sigh*

I miss the old days of music when there was no internet around. Back in those days, you had to buy music on cassette tapes, vinyl or CD’s. Not anymore. People aren’t buying music the old school way anymore. Sad really. I hate how you have to pay for Spotify if you want to listen to music without the advertisements. If you want to listen to music without the advertisements, just buy the damn album, and support the artist.

Spotify is garbage too, thumbs down.

Why twitter sucks, I think I’m done with that site for good…

Twitter is fucking boring, and I’m about to explain why. I think I’m going to get into my account soon and deactivate it for good this time. It’s just a shit social networking site where too many people living in delusional fantasy worlds. I think that’s the main reason. Plus, nobody pays attention to you in that site even if you think people are. You won’t be a popular twitter user unless you’re a famous celebrity with a verified account. I think it’s the celebrities is why I am giving up twitter. The celebrities are really bad at using the site. Worse than anybody. I used to go on there to read celeb tweets for laughs. Everyone will think celebrities are so cool and like god or something, but when you read celebrity tweets, you’ll see that they are nothing but a bunch of losers.

As for people who are not celebrities like me, you’re never going to become one because you have a twitter account, so get over yourselves. Twitter is not a good promoting tool for your projects. Twitter is garbage, pure and simple.

Brock calls out this Megadeth facebook fanpage that does guitar giveaways…

There is this Megadeth facebook fanpage floating around, and it’s getting popularity pretty fast. How? The site claims it does guitar giveaways.

It’ll show a picture of the guitar this page is giving away and then it’ll ask you to like it, and share it, you’ve entered the contest. It’s giving away all kinds of expensive musical equipment, not just guitars.

Check it out, here.

WARNING!!!!!!!! DO NOT TRUST IT!!!!

The page is stepping way over the legal line. The contests aren’t legit. Those pics of those guitars and other musical equipment they are claiming to give away, they stole those pics from other instrument websites, just random google photos.

For example that Gibson Les Paul 1969 custom pic was stolen from this site, here.

The page says it isn’t official, but there are tons of copyright infringement stuff on there, with the Megadeth band name and the RoadRunnerRecords name. Plus, the site is disrespecting the band Megadeth, itself.

A lot of people fell for that site, and thinking the giveaways are real, but they pick you as a winner and if they ask you for your address, you’ve made a huge mistake there. Don’t give out your address to people you don’t know.

That page is getting popular and it should be taken off of facebook. The band, Megadeth, themselves haven’t picked up on that page yet, but I’m sure it will get to their attention soon. The owner behind that page, should get a “cease and desist” letter by the Megadeth attorney. I hope they do.

Just kind of proves my point that people don’t use facebook carefully. People are NOT smart using facebook. I almost fell for the giveaways myself, but then I immediately realized that site is out to fool people. Even if you get picked as a winner, you won’t get anything delivered at your home, I’m sure.

Don’t like that page.

Report: Facebook buys Instagram for 1 billion…

I don’t use Instagram like most people ’cause I don’t take a lot of photos. I also don’t have a mobile phone yet. I don’t think I’ll ever get one. I do have a cell phone and an Ipad, that’s all the gadgets I need.

If I see something interesting when I’m out, I’ll take a pic using the cell phone. Not sure if the regular cell phone accepts the Instagram app, I’ll have to find out.

Mark Zuckerbrrg purchases, Instagram, the popular photo sharing site.

This could be the reason that the government could ignore our protests…

I know a lot of folks out there including myself are trying our best to protest against the government from signing the SOPA/PIPA bills, but they could ignore the protests completely, and make those bills into law after this….

Read all about it, here.

This story has been in facebook and twitter all day.

While I do respect copyrighted music. I was never a pirate. I never stole music online. I’m always willing to pay music from Itunes and record stores. I always respected the artists work ’cause they worked hard for what they do and they deserve to get paid.

The reason I’m helping to protest against SOPA/PIPA ’cause those bills could shut down Youtube and could be a danger to bloggers like me if those bills are signed.

I understand that these bills are all about protecting the owners work but there are better ways of handling this instead of sending innocent people to prison for many years. That’s why we’re all outraged.

Kev

EDIT TO ADD: Hopefully, President Obama will do something about these SOPA/PIPA bills and throw them out for us. If he actually cares for us American people and want to make a “change”, he should do this for us, but I doubt he’ll do anything. He better not allow them to get signed.

EDIT TO ADD part 2: I don’t know much about Megaupload, ’cause I never used the site before.
