Report: Sly Stallone auditioned for the “Superman” role?

Here is a shocker for you. In the late 1970’s when Warner Bros, was just getting “Superman: The Movie” off the ground and auditioning actors to play the Superman/Clark Kent role there are some suprising names that came up who auditioned for Superman. Ilys Salkind speaks at the Wizard World Comic Con in Anaheim, during his speech he speaks everything about Superman. He talked about the actors who auditioned for the original Superman. Surprising names that came up who auditioned for the role were Burt Reynolds, Robert Redford, and James Caan.

Who else was in that list? Yes, that’s right. Sylvester Stallone was considered for the role, but Warner Bros. turned him down and the Superman role obviously went to Christopher Reeve instead. Sly has talked about auditioning for Superman in his interviews before, so this is true.

Sly does seem to be a fan of comics and superhero’s as Sly was in a superhero comic book film once, and that is “Judge Dredd”. Will Sly ever play in another superhero movie ever again? Likely not. I don’t see Sly acting in other movies anytime soon. It looks like he wants to concentrate on acting in his own movies that he directs from now on.

If you think about it, Sly wouldn’t make a bad Superman at all. If you’ve seen Sly in the movie “Tango & Cash”, where’s he’s seen wearing a suit and glasses like Clark Kent, Sly reminded me of Clark Kent in that film.

Report: Christopher Nolan to confirm news for “Dark Knight 3” this July?

Well, look like “The Dark Knight 3” is officially about to happen. Warner Bros. plans to announce official news this July when Christopher Nolan starts to do press for “Inception” (an action/sci fi thriller that stars Leo Dicaprio).

More on it here:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/16950/-batman-3-announcement-in-july

Wonder who the villains will be for the next flick? I think the Joker could definitely come back ’cause they let him live. It is not a spoiler that the Joker lived at the end of the movie ’cause everybody knows that Batman never wanted to kill Joker, he just wanted him in jail. Since Heath Ledger is dead, he will obviously have to be replaced by a different actor. Most would say no other Joker actor would top Heath, but I disagree. I can think of one actor that would make a better joker than Heath Ledger…and that would be no one other than Mark Hammill. Yeah, the Star Wars guy who voiced Joker in many Batman animated films, and Mark voiced Joker for “Arkham Asylum” video game.

I think Mark finally deserves his opportunity to play a live action version of the Joker as it would be amazing.

As for other Batman villains, Nolan should definitely have the Riddler, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and the Penguin. Poison Ivy would be cool too.

BREAKING NEWS: “Wanted 2” sequel cancelled, due to Angelina Jolie pulling out…she does “Gravity” instead…

If you want a Hollywood shocker. Well, here’s one. Universal Studios had “Wanted 2” in the works ever since the first one came out in theaters. The film starred Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy. Angelina Jolie suddenly pulled out of “Wanted 2” to do the sci-fi thriller, “Gravity” with Warner Bros. instead. Due to Angelina pulling out of “Wanted 2”, Universal had no choice but to cancel the sequel altogether. My bet is that they feel that “Wanted 2” can’t be done without her.

Some would think Angelina would have something against the “Wanted 2” sequel, but I disagree. I’m sure she has nothing against the script or the studios or whatever. I’m sure she wanted to do “Gravity” instead ’cause it sounded like a bigger opportunity and a much bigger film. I can’t blame her. “Gravity” sounds like a sci fi action flick to me which Angelina would be good for. I don’t think she’s ever done a sci fi movie that’s taken place out in space before. I’m pretty sure she would still do “Wanted 2” if other opportunities never came up.

Report: National Lampoon’s “Vacation” with the Griswold’s is coming back to the big screen…

New Line has greenlighted a sequel to the 1983 comedy classic, “National Lampoon’s Vacation”, which was originally directed by Harold Ramis and written by John Hughes. The film also starred comic legend, Chevy Chase. New Line will team up with Warner Bros. to get the film made and released.

The story to the new sequel will focus on Clark Griswold’s, oldest son, Rusty. Rusty is a full grown man with a family on his own now. Rusty takes his family on vacation just like his father did back in the old days. Yes, Clark and Ellen Griswold will be written for the script to appear as grandparents in the film, so Chevy and Beverly D’Angelo will make a return to the sequel. Chevy and Beverly has not yet signed a deal to return but I think they will jump on the opportunity when New Line approaches them.

David Dobkin is attached to direct. This would actually be the “fifth” National Lampoon’s Vacation movie with the Griswold’s as there is also, “National Lampoon’s European Vacation”, “Christmas Vacation”, and “Vegas Vacation”.

The Hollywood Reporter reports:

http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2009/10/vacation-sequel-from-new-line.html

If they can get Anthony Michael Hall to return as “Rusty” which I’m sure they will try and get him, then I’m sold. It would be great to see if Anthony Michael Hall will agree to reunite. I would rather see Harold Ramis directing again though. I love the Vacation movies with the Griswold’s.

Chevy Chase is still acting as he is currently at work on the NBC series, “Community” which is on every Thursday night before “The Office” comes on.

Report: Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood to work together for the second time in the “Hereafter”…

Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood already worked together for the film, “Invictus” which is set for a theaterical release date on, Dec. 11th.

Clint recruited Matt Damon again to star in a thriller titled, “Hereafter”. The plot and synopsis is being kept underwraps for now. Clint and the crew will start filming “Hereafter” right away this fall. While they are keeping quiet on the plot, they compare this film to the likes of, “The Sixth Sense”. Hope this isn’t another film about seeing dead people?

Will Clint have a starring role to be onscreen with Matt in “Hereafter”? Could that be why they are keeping the plot secret for now?

Report: Warner Bros. will not make, “Masters of the Universe”…studio parts ways with Mattel on He-Man project…

Hollywood seems to be giving no love to He-Man. Warner Bros. parted ways with Mattel and dropped out of the new He-Man movie. “Masters of the Universe” that Joel Silver has been working on for a long time.

Variety Reports:

http://weblogs.variety.com/bfdealmemo/2009/09/no-heman-for-wb-mattel.html

I think Warner Bros. is worried that the reboot of He-Man is going to fail. They were the same studio that made “Masters of the Universe” 1987 version that starred Dolph Lundgren, which that film bombed and didn’t do well in box office.

I don’t see the project ending for good. The new “Masters of the Universe” will probably get picked up by either Paramount or Twentieth Century Fox. It may as well be Fox.

Report: Warner Bros. creates DC Entertainment, Diane Nelson is hired as top chief/boss…

Walt Disney studios buys out Marvel comics? Well, Warner Bros. says take this Disney, we are at war here. Warner Bros. revamped DC comics to create DC Entertainment. WB’s hired, Diane Nelson to help run, DC Entertainment as their top chief and main boss. They did this as a way to make better use of DC superhero characters.

Variety Reports:

Diane must be a huge fan of comic books if she accepted this job immediately, so she obviously knows her shit with superheroes.

I really hope they get the new Superman movie in the works soon.

Report: Superman feud between the Siegels and WB/DC Comics gets even uglier…

The Siegel family is still fighting for full rights of the Superman character. They already won the rights, they will get the full rights of the character in 2013…but…Warner Bros/DC Comics only own the rights to certain storylines and characters of the Superman story.

For example, The Siegels now own the rights of the planet Krypton, they own Superman’s parents, Jor-L and Lora, Superman as the infant Kal-L, and they even own the rights to Superman’s spaceship leaving Krypton to crash into Earth.

The judge found that WB/DC Comics own the rights to Superman’s ability to fly, kryptonite, the Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White characters, his vision powers and expanded origins.

It  is still set in stone that if Warner Bros./DC Comics wants to get another Superman movie made, they must get it done by 2011. If WB’s and DC decides to make another Superman movie, they won’t be able to use storylines and characters that the Siegels own so this means Superman may be forced to get a new costume design for the next movie, not the usual red, blue and yellow costume with the S signal on the chest.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118007269.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

Even though Warner Bros. and DC are not allowed to use certain things that the Siegel’s own for the next Superman movie, don’t worry, this is Hollywood. They will do anything to change Superman around by creative writing.

I’m glad that WB/DC still own Lex Luthor, that means Lex Luthor coming back would be a possibility.

The Siegel’s fighting for full ownership of the Superman character is not in honour of the late Jerry Siegel, it’s all about the money and this article is making it clear it’s all about, cash.

I think the Siegel family are real pricks. Jerry Siegel would want his work being made into films and be celebrated by fans. The family is taking his honour away, in my opinion. Let Siegel’s work be celebrated by WB/DC.

I hope another Superman movie does happen and I hope the next one will be better.

Report: Warner Bros. team up with Leo Dicaprio to bring on a second “Twilight Zone” movie!!!

“Twilight Zone: The Movie” was brought to us by Warner Bros. in 1983, the film that originally starred Dan Aykroyd and John Lithgow in certain storyline segments.

Warner Bros. has greenlighted, “The Twilight Zone” to return for another film so the film can be based on different stories from the TV series. Leo Dicaprio’s film company, Appian Way, has teamed up with Warner Bros to make the film. They already hired a screenwriter by the name of, Rand Ravich, who previously written, “The Astronaut’s Wife”.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118006171.html?categoryid=10&cs=1

Great news! I loved the first “Twilight Zone” movie, hope they do a good job with the second one.

I wonder if they’ll bring back Dan Aykroyd to continue the story of the Passenger where he is a werewolf. That would be totally cool if they brought the Aykroyd story back to the “TZ: The Movie” sequel.

Do you want to see something really scary? Ha ha! It would be great to hear Dan Aykroyd say that catchphrase again for the next movie if he gets signed for it! Come on Leo, get him!

Confirmed: Ryan Reynolds is the Green Lantern…

Warner Brothers and DC Comics has finally found their Green Lantern for the upcoming superhero movie. Ryan Reynolds was the former star of the TV show, “Two Guys and a Girl”. He has also starred in many comedy films over the years. Ryan Reyolds, looks like he is a bodybuilder as well because he is a big and tough looking dude if you search for his pics in google.

The Green Lantern character is a muscular guy and they needed to find a fit actor to fit the superhero.

The film will be directed by Martin Campbell who did the 007 film, “Casino Royale”.

Variety Reports:

http://weblogs.variety.com/bfdealmemo/2009/07/ryan-reynolds-is-the-green-lantern.html

Very cool. Good choice for the Green Lantern. Most superhero movies aren’t that great, I only like a few of them here and there, lets hope they’ll make the “Green Lantern”, a good one.
