Picked up some more music albums yesterday, both digitally and physical CD…

Yesterday, I ended up purchasing even more music albums. On physical CD, I picked up the new albums by Clutch and Alice in Chains.

From Itunes I picked up five more albums. Decided to get a couple of older albums by Clutch ’cause I’m gonna start listening to them, I think. I never listened to Clutch before and I think I’m gonna finally start. I know a lot of rock and metal fans love Clutch and I’m going to start checking them out for myself.

I was never much of a Judas Priest fan but I do like them and always respected them, just never bought any of their albums until now. I was meaning to get into Judas Priest for quite some time just never got around to it. A lot of people been saying great stuff about their newest album “Firepower” so I ended up getting that one and I also ended up getting their classic album “British Steel” as well.

As for Alice In Chains 2013 album “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here”, I figure I would try and catch up with the William Duvall era of that band. I didn’t like the William Duvall era of that band at first but it grew on me over the years so now I’m a huge fan of the William Duvall era of Alice In Chains.

Looking forward to listening to all these records. Trying to catch up with newer music and I am. The best of 2018 music albums will come pretty soon. Just gotten listen to these records and then I’ll start writing up the list.

Finally bought appropriate shoes for weightlifting…

So today I decided to go to the shoe store at the mall and pick up a pair of Chuck Taylor Converse shoes. I heard these were the best shoes for weightlifting so I went and got a pair for myself. You see, I’ve been noticing that running shoes isn’t suitable for lifting ’cause it’s hard to keep your feet flat with running shoes on. I had to get better shoes for weightlifting so I did some google research and found that Chuck Taylor’s are the best.

I can’t wait to try these next time I do deadlifting and squats. These Chuck Taylor’s are wicked flat and when you wear these shoes, you can feel the ground when you’re walking. I think my deadlifts and squats will improve with these shoes on too so I can’t wait to give these shoes a try at the gym.

I needed a special kind of shoes for weightlifting and I got a pair finally. I got to do leg day at the gym which means it’s gonna be squat day so I’ll try these shoes then… see how much these shoes improve my squat lifting. Wearing these shoes makes you feel like your feet are on the floor so my lifting will definitely improve with these shoes on. We’ll have to wait and see what happens. I’m excited!

I was badly in need of flat shoes ’cause lifting with running shoes isn’t good at all.

“Black Panther” doesn’t deserve the hype, “Aquaman” does!!!

So, I just saw DC’s superhero film “Aquaman” in the theater earlier today and wow. I was freakin’ blown away! Usually movies full of CGI are never my thing ’cause movies like that feel a bit too cartoonish for me but I can’t help but love “Aquaman”. I didn’t mind the CGI in “Aquaman” ’cause it worked for a movie like “Aquaman”.

I thought James Wan did an impressive job directing his first superhero film. This comes as a big surprise ’cause James Wan is mostly known as a horror film director. He did mostly horror films in his career but he’s starting to do action films more. He did an action film back in 2007 called “Death Sentence” which starred Kevin Bacon in the leading role so James is capable of doing some action movies and remember James directed Fast and the Furious 7 too.

This movie “Aquaman” was entertaining as hell all the way through, I wasn’t bored one bit. The film has an all star cast but I was most impressed with Jason Momoa and Dolph Lundgren, of course. Those two guys helped made the movie watchable. All the action scenes were a blast to watch and since James Wan is mostly known as a horror director, the film did had some horror elements here and there.

I was never a fan of the Aquaman character much but this movie makes me want to start reading Aquaman comics right now and I would like to start buying some soon. It’s a very cool character actually and Jason Momoa makes you want to like the character when you haven’t in the past.

I thought “Aquaman” was the best superhero of the year. Fuck “Black Panther”, man. “Aquaman” was 10x’s way better than “Black Panther”. When I was watching “Aquaman”, I felt like it was almost Star Wars underwater and that’s what it was pretty much. “Aquaman” was so impressive. People maybe getting sick and tired of superheroes movies yes but go see “Aquaman”. It’ll be a superhero movie worth seeing, trust me. I fucking loved it and definitely buying the BluRay when it comes out.

Neil Young left Pegi Young for Daryl Hannah and now Pegi is dead, hope you’re proud of yourself, Mr. Young!

Man, this is sad and terrible news. Neil and Pegi were a couple for 36 years — they were married for a pretty long time. Then Neil starts dating “Splash” actress Daryl Hannah while Neil was still married to Pegi. Then Neil files for divorce on Pegi and a few years later, he marries Daryl.

Pegi Young has been battling cancer for a while now from what I’ve read but unfortunately, looks like she lost the battle.

https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-pegi-young-obituary-cancer-neil-young-20190102-story.html?fbclid=IwAR084x-mCRSkmn5CdWuZvOWVvhs-oEuUN_C5InK8L6rLYEDqKCk4JwYVLMc

Neil maybe a talented musician and all, I’ve admired his music for a pretty long time and am a fan but I’m not afraid to admit that Neil is a horrible person in real life. The man is an asshole and kind of a douchebag.

When you’ve been with the same woman for over 30 years you stay with that woman forever but apparently Neil never cared. It’s pretty clear that Neil cares more for Daryl than Pegi. You think Neil would be with Pegi while she tried to battled cancer and now she’s gone. Sounds like Neil wasn’t by her side when she peacefully passed and he should have been. Neil is now a certified piece of shit.

Will Neil put out a statement about Pegi’s passing? He really should but he probably won’t. We’ll wait and see. I’m sure he’s devastated yes but he should have been with her while she was battling the cancer. I’m sure Pegi wanted Neil by her side before she passed.

I know Pegi is a musician and singer herself. I’ve heard her solo songs before and she’s quite good. RIP Pegi.

I’m now officially back in Netflix but I am back permanently…

So last night I officially signed back up to Netflix. Back in the early Spring of 2018, I cancelled my account ’cause Netflix has decided to go political by making a deal to do projects with Michelle and Barack Obama and then hiring Susan Rice as Board of Directors. Yeah, I took a pretty long hiatus from Netflix which was pretty nice. I don’t regret it at all ’cause Netflix was getting a bit addicting to me anyways. I’ve been away from Netflix for like 10 or 11 months so I’m back for good.

Yeah, Barack Obama has got some projects coming on Netflix but I don’t have to watch ’em and I won’t.

The reason I went back to Netflix is that like my Instagram post says, it’s ’cause of “Punisher – Season 2”. I won’t be able to watch it anywhere else. I also went back in to start watching “Black Mirror” and watch the rest of “Gotham”. I’m also planning to watch the “Bird Box” movie on there this weekend ’cause it looks good. I’m also thinking about watching the rest of “The Walking Dead” and catch up with that. I stopped watching “The Walking Dead” after Season 3 but I’m thinking of getting back into that show too.

Yeah, Netflix leans toward the left when it comes to politics but I’ll use Netflix to watch stuff that I like and watch stuff that I’m interested in. I don’t have to watch stuff by the Obamas and I won’t.

There are plenty of stuff I want to watch on Netflix and I’m already finding plenty of good stuff. Yeah Netflix has gone political but you can ignore their politics and just enjoy the entertainment that is on there. Try it sometime.

RIP: “Mean” Gene Okerlund… 1942 – 2019

geneo

There have been many wrestler interviewers in the WWF/WWE over the years. At the top of my head, I can think of other wrestler interviewers such as Kevin Kelly, Jonathan Coachman, Michael Cole, Jim Ross, Vince McMahon Jr. (Vinnie Mac started out as an interviewer/color commentator before becoming a full time performer) and many others but none of them could top what “Mean” Gene Okerlund did.

Mean Gene was the best backstage and in ring interviewer of all time. Without him then WWE/WWF and WCW wouldn’t have gotten so huge in the industry. He was the one who helped get people interested in professional wrestling. That’s what a backstage/in ring interviewer’s job is supposed to do, get people interested and draw in viewers. Gene was the best at that. I’ve always loved to hear his fast-talking voice and the way he spoke. He was enjoyable to listen to when he interviewed wrestlers.

In WWF/WWE, he interviewed everyone on TV from Hulk Hogan to Ultimate Warrior to Macho Man to Roddy Piper to Ric Flair to Bret the Hitman Hart and the list goes on. In WCW, Gene interviewed pretty much all the stars there on TV too: Sting, Lex Luger, DDP, Eric Bischoff and the list goes on.

Even if all wrestlers didn’t get to be interviewed by Gene on TV, they were inspired by him in some way. Mean Gene was an important figure in professional wrestling. All of us looked up to him like a father even the fans. We all watch wrestling and support wrestling ’cause of Mean Gene. “Wrestlemania” wouldn’t have continued on if it wasn’t for this guy.

Mean Gene was the voice of wrestling. Each time you heard him on TV, you can’t help but listen to him. He was that enjoyable. That man was such a professional interviewer. All he would do is just ask the wrestlers the questions and he would let them talk and just listen. Mean Gene was one of the few who helped popularized professional wrestling, there’s no denying that at all. There’s no other interviewer/announcer like him.

Mean Gene certainly loved the business and he loved his wrestlers, you can tell when he does his interviews over the years.

Is bodybuilding a dying industry and powerlifting quickly taking over? Yes, it definitely seems like it…

I hope I’m not the only one noticing this. I’ve noticed that people have slowly lost interest in bodybuilding. Ya know, building muscle and losing bodyfat to be in the best shape of your life. Bodybuilding used to be big, huge and pretty mainstream but now it seems that nobody really cares anymore. Instead, it’s definitely looking like that powerlifting has taken over bodybuilding’s spotlight.

If you want to look at evidence of this, bodybuilding channels in youtube viewers are going down. A lot of the bodybuilding fitness gurus that we all looked up to, their views in their youtube channels are getting lower. Instead, I’m seeing powerlifting gurus in youtube getting more views than bodybuilding channels. You are also seeing people hosting their own powerlifting meets everywhere in the United States nowadays. If you’re a powerlifter or a newbie just getting started, chances are you’ll see a powerlifting competition happening in your local area. On the internet, you see everybody getting into powerlifting nowadays. Seems like nobody is interested in Mr. Olympia competitions anymore. Everybody is all about powerlifting now.

What is going on? Powerlifting is definitely getting bigger than bodybuilding, that’s for sure. When I got into bodybuilding, I didn’t even know powerlifting was around until I started seeing friends do it on FB. Then powerlifting looked pretty intriguing to me and now my powerlifting friends talked me into doing my first meet so I went for it. I did two powerlifting meets so far and now I consider myself a full time powerlifter. I got into powerlifting ’cause I saw everyone else doing it.

Why is powerlifting getting bigger than bodybuilding? I would think that more people want to challenge themselves into doing something different and they also find lifting heavy things pretty addicting so they keep at it. Another reason is that people want to get big and strong. No doubt that powerlifting is getting bigger and more popular.

I’m glad I discovered powerlifting ’cause I want to get bigger and stronger. I too want to challenge myself to a whole new level. Some of you may ask that since I’m in my 40’s now, I’m too old to get into powerlifting? No, not at all. Age is just a number. If you want to get into powerlifting, just do it. I’ve been to a few powerlifting meets and I saw people of all ages that are into these competitions. Ages ranging from young teenagers to people like 70 years old or older. They are lifting pretty heavy too. If they can do it so can anyone.

I’m hoping to do a lot more powerlifting competitions this year ’cause I love doing them. They are a blast. I just do it for fun for the most part ’cause I want to experience something different and want to do something huge in my life. I don’t really care to win medals or trophies to be honest. I just want to have a blast and lift heavy things. That is all.

Happy new year, y’all!!!

Well it’s a new year which is 2019.

A lot of people like to make the Holidays an excuse for taking a break of working out but no taking breaks from me. Honestly, I took a little break from working out in the gym during Christmas. Not a long one but a short one. The day after Christmas, I went back to working out in the gym right away.

I went to the gym yesterday on New Year’s Eve and went to the gym today on New Year’s Day. The 4 day a week routine in the gym continues. I did a good job keeping my 4 day a week routine going throughout most of 2018 and lets keep it going throughout 2019 with very little breaks.

I have to keep going with the gym 4 days a week. I love working out 4 days a week and it’s all paying off.

Everywhere I go lately, people give me compliments on my physique. I’m getting kind compliments on my bodybuilding physique by everyone I talk to pretty much. I get comments like: “Wow, you’re looking ripped”, “You’re getting huge”, “You got some guns on your arms. Damn.”, etc. blah blah blah… you get the deal. I feel honored and humbled that people like what I do.

Anyway, the bodybuilding and powerlifting continues throughout 2019. People may like what I do now but I’m going to keep going. Keep trying to get bigger and stronger. People think it’s impossible to get big and ripped without steroids and I’m about to prove everyone wrong. I love weightlifting, yo. It’s my passion and my blood.

When people give you compliments on your bodybuilding physique, you can’t be an egomaniac about it. I try to stay humble as possible. It’s nice that I get kind compliments on my physique constantly but I always feel I have lots of work and lots of learning to do. I’m just getting started, ya know? My goal is that I want to keep getting bigger and bigger. I want to look like those wrestlers you see on TV and I want to look like those action stars you see in the movies. I believe you can look like that. I just want that muscular look and I’m going for it. I’ve always dreamed of having a big and muscular body and you can make your dream come true. People will doubt you, criticize you and call you delusional but you can prove ’em wrong.

Anyhow, what are my other goals and new year’s resolutions for 2019 (besides fitness goals, that is?)

Well I’m going to play my guitar a lot more that’s for sure. I want to make more original music this year and continue to learn more cover songs as well. I want to make more music and upload it to the internet.

I hate making new year’s resolutions ’cause most of them never happen anyway but I’m definitely going to make what I talked about above happen. I’m going to try to post on the blog a lot more too.

As for 2019,  I’m going continue to be me and just enjoy life.

My lists of Best of 2018 for both music and movies will be coming soon. I’m thinking of making those lists in a videoblog which I think would be fun.

The band Disturbed doesn’t deserve to get hated on, they’re a pretty rockin’ band… I love ’em!!!

Over the weekend, I bought two of Disturbed’s albums off of Itunes. I bought their first album, “The Sickness” and their newest album they just put out, “Evolution”. I used to listen that band Disturbed back in the early 2000’s years when that hit song “Down with the Sickness” started taking over the radio airwaves. Of course, everyone is familiar with that song as that song is considered the band’s anthem. I bought “The Sickness” album on CD when it came out and used to listen to it all the freakin’ time. I don’t have the CD anymore so I re-bought the album digitally and I forgot how sick of an album “The Sickness” really is. It really is an amazing record. Definitely one of the best metal and hard rock albums of all time.

Then I decided to buy their newest album “Evolution” in which everyone on the internet is talking about. The album is getting mostly negative reviews for whatever reason. I gave the album a listen once over the weekend and I really liked it a lot. I was trying to figure out why a lot of Disturbed fans hated that album, “Evolution”. When I listened to that album, I can see why a lot of people hate it. Over the weekend, I decided to give all the other Disturbed albums a listen. I decided to listen to the rest of the Disturbed albums in youtube since I don’t own the rest of them. On youtube, I listened to: “Believe”, “Ten Thousand Fists”, “Indestructible”, “Asylum” and “Immortalized”. I listened to all the band’s previous albums and I’m like, “Okay, I can understand why fans are upset ’cause the band changed directions with the music”.

The first 6 albums in the band’s career were all hard and heavy rockin’ albums. All their songs were pretty heavy and headbanging stuff… yet, when the band released “Evolution” this year, they decided to change directions with that album. The new album has songs that are mostly mellow and the songs are slower. This is why the fans are complaining ’cause the band decided to do something ballsy by mellowing it out. There are some heavy rockers on the new album, “Evolution” but most of the album is full of ballads. Is that why fans are upset? They’re upset at the band deciding to mellow out a little bit?

I can absolutely see why the band decided to mellow out on “Evolution” some ’cause the band spent the past ten years or more playing hard and heavy music and they were probably getting tired of it. I love it when bands do that. Decide to take big risks with their music and Disturbed did just that. Fans complain that all their songs sound the same but when Disturbed decided to sound completely different on “Evolution”, the fans are still complaining and hating. I can see why fans are complaining about the new record “Evolution” ’cause it’s different than their older stuff. Disturbed just simply wanted a break from playing heavy music all the time and I can’t blame them.

With that being said, I loved the new album “Evolution”. It showed a different side of the band and they wanted to show their listeners that they can be songwriters. They wanted to show fans that they are more than just heavy music. I was impressed with David Draiman’s vocals on the new album as it showed that he can be a “singer” than just a hard rock singer.

I think Disturbed is a phenomenal band and I would love to see them live myself. Donegan is a great guitarist and Draiman’s one of the best rock vocalist of all time. I think that band is tight as hell when they play their hard rock stuff. Some say Disturbed hard rock music all sounds the same? Um,  please. They all sound different to me. It’s just good ol’ metal. That is all.

Disturbed is one of the top metal bands in the industry and they are a best selling band. Usually the most successful metal bands are the most hated so just ignore the haters and enjoy the music.

Hit a new personal record on bench at 155 lbs. at the gym today…

So today on New Year’s Eve, I decided to hit the gym for chest day. Today was a great chest day as I just hit a new personal record on bench press at 155 lbs. today. It was a pretty easy lift too. I wasn’t able to get 155 lbs. for the past couple of weeks but I got it this time. Actually, I got 155 lbs. once a long while back but couldn’t get it again until now. I know I’m getting stronger on bench each week I do it. So I guess, training chest once a week is the trick to get more bench press strength. I’ve also been experimenting with progressive overload method on bench press which is working. Progressive overload, meaning adding more weight each set you do and do less reps each set. It’s been working so I’m going to keep doing that. Getting 155 lbs. p.r. on bench today is a great number to end the year with. This means I could probably get 160 lbs. next week and I’m going to give it a try next time.

I’m loving the bench press. It’s a great workout and I’m definitely feeling my chest beefing up each week. The bench is definitely the best chest exercise and they don’t call the king of all workouts for no reason.

For 2019, I’m hoping to get even bigger numbers on the bench. I’m hoping pretty soon in 2019, I’ll be able to bench 200 lbs. or over and I’m going to take my slow time and not rush to get there. I could probably reach to 200 lbs. next summer. I’m also going to try to get bigger numbers for squats and deadlift in 2019 as well.

Truthfully there are no easy tricks to get stronger on bench, squats and deadlifts. You just keep at it every week and you’ll get stronger the more you lift, lift and lift. That’s all there is to it really.

My gym days will keep going throughout 2019 and will keep the 4 day a week routine going with very little breaks. I’m really enjoying powerlifting training. Gonna keep at it.
