Report: As expected, “The Expendables’ is a HIT! Congrats Sly!!!!

This is no surprise to me and I’m sure this is no surprise to everyone else. “The Expendables” is a hit. The film made around 13.3 – 13.5 million in the box office Friday, beating “Scott Pilgrim” and Julia Roberts new movie. The Expendables was marketed heavily everywhere, even on sports and ppv channels!

Like usual, the film is getting mixed reviews by movie fans. Some love it and some hate it. It’s like that every time Sly releases a new film. I still haven’t seen it yet. I will probably see it Monday on my day off of work. Sly finally has a huge hit after all these years!!!

I’m sure they’ll be quick on announcing the sequel soon. Can’t wait to see the movie!!!

Never thought I’d say this but I actually laughed my ass off at the movie “Date Night”…

I didn’t see, “Date Night” in theater ’cause I wasn’t interested. Now that it’s out on DVD, I bought it at Best Buy last night. Watched it last night too. The reason I wanted to see it ’cause I’m a fan of Steve Carell. Loved him in “The Office” TV show and love his acting in movies too. I was pretty surprised by “Date Night”. I was worried it was going to be a crap movie, but it turned out to be a great film. It was funny, and entertaining.

After seeing this movie, made me realize that I’m glad Steve is leaving “The Office”. He’s getting too famous for TV and he’s about to become a household name in Hollywood for movies. He’s a fantastic actor and just an all around, good guy. This movie tells a story about a married couple going on a date night to a sea food restaurant in NYC, they didn’t have a reservation so they steal someone else’s identity so they can get a table. Their date night of course, goes wrong, and ends up getting into crime with city mobsters looking for a flash drive.

It actually wasn’t a bad film at all. I had some good laughs, the film had some good action, good writing. While I mostly watch action and horror films, I need to switch it up and watch a good comedy once in a while. “Date Night” is a good flick, check it out.

CD Review: Rob Skane “Phantom Power Trip”

Rob Skane is a Capital District local solo rock musician who has been playing gigs either solo or with a full band for over 20 years. Back in 2002, Skane released his debut solo record titled, “Self Noise”. Now that’s it’s 2010, Rob Skane is finally back with a new record titled, “Phantom Power Trip”. Skane didn’t really actually take a break from music after all this time, he has always been gigging in between those years he hasn’t released a record. Now that he finally has a new record out, I thought I would give it a review since I have his new CD and heard it.

I would like to say that I can’t stop listening to this record. “Phantom Power Trip” is very addicting. Very catchy and fun upbeat rock songs. What’s the difference between this and “Self Noise”? Well, “Self Noise” is a little mellower and slow. Every song on “Phantom Power Trip” is fast and upbeat rock n’ roll. The songs on “Phantom Power Trip” will remind you of such artists like the Ramones, Elvis Costello, The Knack, and Cheap Trick. The CD “Phantom Power Trip” gave me strong goosebumps all the way through. I was never bored listening to the record and didn’t skip any tracks. This record will make you want to listen through the whole thing. The CD has excellent sound production as some of it was recorded at Rob Skane’s home and some of it was recorded at Edie Road studios in Greenwich.

Skane sings with passion in all of these songs and the guitar playing is just what the song needs. Tight, energetic and powerful. The songs are very simple and pretty short, but that’s all you need to write great rock n’ roll songs! Skane knows how to write true rock n’ roll songs. He knows the genre and knows the sound. I absolutely love the entire record all the way through but my favorite tracks are, “I Waited”, “You Preach Peace”, “Girl Next Door”, “The Idiot Show”, and “Army of Individuality”. The songs on the CD makes you want to sing along to them and bop your head up and down all the way through. Congratulations to Rob Skane on a fantastic record. Some of the best local rock n’ roll I’ve heard in years! Skane is a musician friend of mine. I’ve seen him perform live lots of times and we’ve shared gigs lots of times! He is also a cool as hell guy!

Check out “Phantom Power Trip” at his official website, you can listen to the whole thing there, click the play button next to the album cover:

Time to get serious with music again…

I will soon be bringing my official music site, myspace, and twitter back. I will be promoting my old music again that I made back in 2006, my old demo. I will also try to figure out how to get that old demo on Itunes for people to buy. This is just a tease that I’ll be getting serious with music again. Writing new songs and hopefully start playing live shows again.

I will bring my official site back under a new domain company if I can find an affordable one. I will also make a new blog site to post stuff about my music only. I will still keep this blog and will use this one for entertainment news, but the other blog, I will use for my music.

I miss the music thing. Time to get out of this hiatus and go back to it!.

BREAKING NEWS: Pacificor sends “cease and desist” letter to try and stop Terminator animated movie being made…

Earlier today, it was announced that Hannover House had plans to make a Terminator 3D animated movie based on the Arnold Terminator. They were going to make it PG-13 and tone down the violence. Well, look like this is not going to be pretty, ’cause the company that owns the rights for the Terminator series, Pacificor, sent a cease and desist letter to Hannover House, ordering them to stop making the film since they don’t have the permission to.

Hannover isn’t backing down as they plan to make a big pay to Pacificor to score the rights to get the movie made.

Read more on it here:

http://www.deadline.com/2010/08/terminator-rights-holder-sends-cease-and-desist-letter-to-kill-proposed-3d-animated-feature/

Oh my, here comes another huge war that will escalate quickly! I don’t think Pacificor will let them make this movie no matter how much money Hannover offers them for the rights. This will be similar to “Warner Bros. vs. 20th Century Fox” with that “Watchmen” movie, but this Terminator legal war will be much worse.

Whose side am I on? Pacificor of course. I don’t want Terminator going animated. If you’re going to do an animated movie based on Arnold’s Terminator, they would have to get Arnold to do voice overs for the character.

I know the Terminator came in different forms of Entertainment. Terminator came in comic books, video games, TV shows (The Sarah Connor Chronicles), etc. You can do anything with the franchise. Hannover should have known better. They should have asked permission first. That’s the thing with Hollywood, egos and money. Nothing more.

Report: “Friday Night Lights” characters Jason Street and Tyra Collette to return to season 5!!!!

Well it seems that NBC already filmed, season 5 for “Friday Night Lights”. We have some good news and some bad news about next season. Lets get the good news out of the way first. The good news is that FNL characters Jason Street (Scott Porter) and Tyra Collette (Adrianne Palicki) will be returning throughout most of season 5. The bad news is “Friday Night Lights – Season 5” will be the last season for good and also more bad news, it looks like Minka Kelly who plays Lyla didn’t agree to return to Season 5 either. Maybe she’ll return in an episode or two but not throughout the entire season.

It seems that Tim Riggins won’t be released from prison at all for Season 5 as it looks like they filmed scenes with Tim Riggins in jail. Will Tim Riggins stay in jail throughout Season 5? Not to worry Tim Riggins fans. I’m sure the Tim Riggins character will get released from prison sometime toward the end of the season.

Thought: Montana Fishburne has all her right to do porn if she wants to, leave the girl alone!

So Laurence Fishburne’s daughter, Montana is trying to get into the porn industry. Yes, I’m on Montana’s side on this one. She has dreams and fantasies about wanting to become a porn star, so she’s trying to make it happen for real. Of course, she’s getting a lot of hate and disrespect for this, but in her defense, she’s just following her dreams. Again, this is the USA. The freedom to do what you want to do. Your dreams and career goals, may hurt other people but people will do whatever it takes to make their dreams come true even if it’s a little overboard like porn. She’s hot enough, so why not?

As far as Laurence Fishburne, the actor goes, I think the only reason he’s upset for her… it is not just for her protection. He’s upset because he’s afraid that his daughter becoming a porn star would hurt his own acting career. I don’t think Laurence would have to worry about Montana hurting his career. I think it will only help his career. You need to think about how legendary porn stars like Jenna Jameson for example got into the porn biz. When they first started, their family members hated them about it at first, but somewhere down the road, they’ll get used to it, and their family members will respect them in the future.

Laurence needs to get over himself and his own ego, and respect his daughter in everything she does. I hope she does more porn ’cause I would definitely check out Chippy D’s work for sure.

Thought: I am confused on how this makes Steven Slater a hero????

So Mel Gibson goes on a rage about his ex-girlfriend and Christian Bale goes nuts on the “Terminator: Salvation” set, but Steven Slater gets a free pass? Really people, how does this make the Jet Blue guy a hero? Did he save people’s lives on that plane? No? Did Steven help anybody? No. He just lost his temper on a job. That was it. He went nuts after getting hit in the head with luggage, he’s a hero for that? Wow, that’s even more comical than the story itself. Why does the online world worship this guy so much?

People lose their tempers on jobs. It happens all the time! WHO CARES!!!

It seems to me that Steven was just in a bad mood at the time the incident happened. Maybe he was stressed out ’cause of long hours on the plane or maybe having problems with other staff. Plus, I’ve read reports that other passengers found him a very rude person before that incident happened.

Everyone online is acting like that this guy is so lovable and great, when they need a reality check that guy could actually be a douchebag in real life. Steven was yelling and screaming at a woman. How is that cool? Why don’t Slater try talking like that to a man. Slater wouldn’t dare try to talk like that to a bodybuilder type of guy ’cause if he did, he probably would have been knocked out, he wouldn’t know that it even happened.

Thought: About this whole JetBlue guy thing, my thoughts on Steven Slater…

I’m sure you all are wondering my thoughts on this whole Steven Slater, controversy. Him going off in a rant after getting in the head by luggage, when the passenger tried to remove it from the overhead compartment on the airplane. He goes on cussing like a storm through the address system speaker machine and grabs a few beers before going down the chute. It was like, all of this came from a scene from an SNL skit or something.

While I did think the story was pretty comical, I’m going to be brutally honest here. Everyone thinks this guy is a hero for what he did. Everyone all of a sudden worships this guy for defending himself on a job. Is this guy a “hero”? LOL. Come on. There is no way he is a hero over this. It’s obvious that this guy either had a short fuse or just wanted some attention. This guy is no hero. The real heros are the US Troops fighting in the Iraq/Afghanistan wars today. The real heros are the victims of 9/11. Not fucking Steven Slater.

This didn’t need to be all over the news as I’m a 100% positive that crazy stuff like this happen on all plane rides. The only reason this was made a famous story ’cause the JetBlue airplane was on it’s way to NYC at the JFK Airport. I don’t consider Steven a hero at all. Not knocking the guy or nothing, but the only reason people are fascinated with this story ’cause they like how Steven acted like an asshole on an airplane. If I was on that plane and seen that myself, I would have shrugged my shoulders and be like, “Eh, whatever, dude, get over yourself”.

So fuckin’ what? The guy got hit in the head by luggage. This shit happens to everybody on planes. The guy’s probably got a temper tantrum in real life, which is probably what made him go off like that in the first place. If I hit him in the head with luggage by accident, and if he went off on me like that, I probably would have flipped him the middle finger or something and tell him to fuck off.

Everyone thinks Steven is cool to what he did, but in my opinion, I don’t see what’s so special about it.
