Top 5 best films of the year coming soon…

I’ve picked my choice for my favorite “Film of The Year for 2009”. Since the end of the year is around the corner, it is time for all the Top of the Year lists to start coming like usual.

I’m not going to do the list now. I could, but I’m going to wait to see “Avatar” ’cause I know that film is going to make the list, no matter what happens. “Avatar” could be no. 1, ya never know, it could be or not. I’ll have to see it first, then I’ll do my top 5 of the year.

I picked a different film for no. 1. While I won’t reveal it now, I can give you a few clues. It is a science fiction film and no, it isn’t Star Trek. It is a film about aliens. There has been quite several sci fi movies and alien films that came out this year, so it might be kind of tough for you to figure out.

The shocking death of Eddie Fatu (or Umaga)…

So we learn about the sudden death of Eddie Fatu aka Umaga yesterday, and it sent a shock through the wrestling community and the sports community, all around. Why are people shocked? You may ask? Even though this guy was always considered a mid-card wrestler, and he has always been under-appreciated and not too well known, I think his death sent controversy because, he’s a young guy and people think he might have done drugs/steroids. People think he would be another one of those wrestlers that died of a drug overdose. That’s my guess is why the news is all over it.

I wouldn’t quickly speculate that he died of drugs/steroids just yet. One thing to keep in mind, folks, that Eddie Fatu is an over weight guy. Being over weight and obesed can cause people problems, no matter the age or the health. Never know. Eddie could have died very healthy and clean. His heart attacks could have been caused by his weight.

Eddie Fatu hasn’t been in the WWE for that long. He first made his WWE debut in 2002 when he formed a tag team called 3 minute warning, which he was in with his cousin, Matt Anoa’i. They went under the names of Jamal and Rosey. The storyline was that this tag team was formed, by Eric Bishoff when he used to be RAW General Manager back at this time. Eddie then was released from WWE took a long break to wrestle for TNA for one year. Then he joined All Pro Japan Wrestling for a year.

In 2005, Eddie Fatu made his full time return under the new Umaga gimmick. The gimmick was inspired from Kamala and the Headshrinkers back in the earlier days of WWE. Eddie wrestled under Umaga from 2005-2009 in WWE, then he left to become part of Hulk Hogan’s Australian tour which he was just getting back home from before his death.

When Umaga first came to WWE, he first started out with a long feud with legend, Ric Flair. Then he became a sidekick partner to Vince and Shane McMahon when they were heels back then. As I said, Umaga has always been a mid-card performer, but he has made some main events.

For example, remember, the “Battle of the Billionaires” match at Wrestlemania 23? With Umaga vs. Bobby Lashley with Trump and McMahon on their corners? That would be Umaga’s biggest match of his career.

Eddie was fired from WWE ’cause he violated the wellness policy, being tested positive for drugs, I guess, but that doesn’t mean he could still be using drugs now though.

Such a shame what happened. I wish Umaga stayed in WWE longer ’cause I can definitely see him being a huge main event superstar along the lines of Triple H and Undertaker. It’s too bad that will never happen. Umaga maybe a scary looking dude and he may have played a heel for most of his career, but before his WWE release, he was actually getting cheers from the fans.

Umaga was quite a wrestling character, unique. Probably, one of the best gimmicks WWE created in a long while. It really is such a sad loss to the wrestling community. He really had an impact on wrestling fans.

When I get around to it, I will make a video collection of Umaga as a tribute for this blog. RIP Eddie.

RIP: Eddie Fatu (aka, Umaga of the WWE) 1973 – 2009

Former WWE wrestler, Umaga (real name: Eddie Fatu) has died. No cause of death has been announced publicly as of this moment. Eddie Fatu is a Samoan wrestler who also wrestled under the Jamal and Rosey tag team before creating his, Umaga, gimmick.

According to information online, the wrestler was in the hospital. He was hospitalized today after his wife found him not breathing with blood coming out of his nose. Fatu suffered two heart attacks and could not survive the second one. He was only 36 years old.

Very sad news. Definitely sounds like drugs or steroids to me. He was a very talented performer. I’ve always liked him. May he rest in peace.

BREAKING NEWS: Steven Spielberg pulls out of “Harvey” remake…

First, Spielberg is no longer doing “Old Boy” with Will Smith. Next, Spielberg pulls out of directing the “Harvey” remake after spending about a year putting the project together. He was trying to find the film’s leading star that Jimmy Stewart once played from the original.

Spielberg tried asking Tom Hanks to star in the leading role but Tom wanted no part in it at all. It’s either Tom didn’t like the idea of remaking the film or he isn’t willing to play any of Jimmy Stewart’s characters or a little bit of both. Spielberg’s second choice was Robert Downey Jr., but even Robert knows the project sucks too. Robert begged for re-writes of the script but the studios wouldn’t take his idea. This is what made Spielberg drop out of the project for good.

Variety Reports:

Not only hollywood studios are sometimes difficult on Spielberg, even the actors can be too.

It’s really quite simple folks, actors and actresses will not agree to star in a film, no matter how iconic of a director he is. The script must be good enough for the cast to agree to it.

I’m tired of Spielberg getting on the sequels and remakes bandwagon. I know he can do something original.

James Cameron’s Top 5 best films in his career…

In celebration of “Avatar” being released in theaters, finally, after all these years. The film hits theaters, Dec. 18th, I wanted to name my top five favorite James Cameron films ever made.

Here they are:

  1. The Terminator – I’ve always loved the first Terminator more than the 2nd one. Arnie, the villain Terminator is way cool and I find him being the good guy, kind of overrated.
  2. The Abyss – I’ve always loved this film to death. I’ve seen it too many times. Ed Harris’s best role. This film, in my opinion, has Cameron’s best special effects.
  3. T2 – Judgement Day – Always a classic. It’s one of those films you can never get tired of watching ever and you always have fun watching it no matter what.
  4. Aliens – I think this is the best Alien film of the series.
  5. True Lies – Not his best work but it’s great action entertainment, Arnie is a badass in this role too.

Thought: It’s way cool to see John Travolta back to work!

John Travolta have been making TV appearances lately. First he showed up on Jay Leno the other night and now he just appeared on Conan O’ Brien tonight. He’s out there promoting the movie, “Old Dogs”.

In TV interviews, there is not one mention about Jett’s death and all that extortion stuff he’s been through. It’s all been talk about movies and his film career.

John is looking more happier. You can still see a little sadness in his eyes, of course, but he’s definitely hanging in there.

I’m sure John will land another movie role soon and he will return to acting once he finishes with the promotion of “Old Dogs”. Hopefully he’ll sign to a new role soon.

I hope John’s next movie will be an action movie, next time or maybe a thriller where he plays a villain. I hope he doesn’t keep picking comedy or drama, I like John in action movies better.

Although, I did love his role in “Wild Hogs” though, that was a great flick. I don’t plan to see “Old Dogs” in theater, that I can wait for DVD on.

Report: Stallone sells his paintings to a fan at Art Gallery in Miami, FL…

Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, both attended an art gallery show where people sold their art work. Other than making movies, Sly does other hobbies for fun. Besides working out in the gym and collecting old cars, Sly is also a painter.

Sly showed off his work that he did himself at the art gallery and he sold them to a fan named, Steve Wynn.

Check out Sly’s work here:

http://craigzablo.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=SlyTalk&action=display&thread=9480

Sly doesn’t want to be famous and well known for his art work, he never publishes his art work for the public to see. He just does it as a hobby, plain and simple. It’s what he does when he is not working on film.

Happy Birthday to Britney Spears

I’m no fan but I guess she deserves this. Happy birthday to Brit. Like her or not, she had quite a roller coaster ride in her career and life. She was pretty interesting. Had a lot of controversy: everything from going bald, fighting back at the paps, Madonna/Brit lesbo kiss, her comeback at the MTV Music Awards, etc. It maybe crazy but this was incredible stuff. I think 20 years from now, she’s going to be considered the next Anna Nicole Smith. Happy Birthday to Brit.

And I agree with TMZ, I’m surprised she survived another year.

Top 10 acts that should have been at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary show…

So the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had their 25th Anniversary show in New York City at Madison Square Garden. There were some very important musical acts that I think they left off the show that should have been there.

Eric Clapton should have been there, but he pulled out due to being sick.

What other Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees that should have been part of the action???

My list here:

David Bowie
Ac/Dc
Van Halen
John Mellencamp
Tom Petty
Neil Young
Elton John
Van Morrison
Bob Dylan
Chuck Berry

I’m sure the Hall of Fame officials tried asking them, but maybe they turned them all down.

Report: Stallone still fighting to get his Cobra car back after all these years…

Sylvester Stallone is still on the hunt for the old Cobra car that Stallone drove from one of his popular films simply titled, “Cobra”. Well, Stallone himself found it. He saw it being sold on an internet auction for classic cars that was held by a movie car company (noticing TMZ left the company name out of the article so TMZ won’t get sued).

In Sly’s suit, he is, of course, asking for his car back and asking for 3 million for infringing his name and image without permission. Sly wrote the lawsuit in style, by beginning it with “Crime is a disease, meet the cure”, hilarious!

http://www.tmz.com/2009/12/01/sylvester-stallone-cobra-stolen-car-mercury-lawsuit/

It’s no secret that Sly loves cars. He’s a car collector big time, especially the vintage vehicles. It be badass to see Sly drive the Cobra car again, so hope he gets it back successfully!
