About the Batman re-boot, questions…

So now that the Chrsitian Bale/Christopher Nolan “Dark Knight” trilogy is over with and for good, Warner Bros. is of course, planning a re-boot. What worries me about the upcoming re-boot, is that who ever the next director is, he might try to copy Christopher Nolan’s style a bit. I hope they don’t do that. They need to take Batman into a different era. Just like what they are doing to the “Man of Steel” re-boot. You know how the “Man of Steel” re-boot is staying away from the Christopher Reeve/Donner stuff? The same needs to be done for Batman, next time.

I think the next Batman film, they need to use a different style of Batsuit ’cause the “Dark Knight” suit is getting old. They’ve been using the black rubber suit for over ten years since the Tim Burton/Michael Keaton era. I think it would be pretty sweet if WB’s went back to the Black and Blue style Batsuit. Make it an old school Batman film, just like what they’re doing with “Man of Steel”.

Yes, they would probably bring back the Joker played by a different actor for the re-boot but, they shouldn’t make the next Joker like the Heath Ledger one. They need to make that character differently as well.

Another question is, could the Batman re-boot be more successful than the Chris Nolan films? I don’t know. Tough to say. The casting, script and everything else needs to be good enough if they want people to take Batman seriously again. I feel bad for the Batman movie franchise ’cause the series has been re-booted for a few times already ’cause of directors dropping out and people moving on, and stuff. You get the deal. It’s hard to make a great Batman movie, and Christopher Nolan was the only one who can do it. Hopefully WB’s doesn’t go back to making bad Batman movies.

I guess the most important question, we’re all wondering is now that Christopher Nolan is done, what’s next? We’ll hear something soon.

The type of musicians who get my respect and the ones that don’t…

I try to support local musicians the best I can. I enjoy meeting different musicians all over the place, and I have met many local musicians over the years. They all have different personalities and they are all different. I have also spoken to many musicians online who I haven’t even met in person yet.

So what musicians get my respect and the ones that don’t? I’ll do a brief explanation with a list.
The Musicians That Do Get My Respect:

  • Are the ones who concentrate on the music alone. Just playing your gigs, and writing the songs
  • Acting friendly and down to earth to people, even to me.
  • Does not have an ego problem whatsoever.
  • If you play music for the love of it alone, not worrying about fame, popularity, or money.
  • Just acting like a true professional in music.
  • If you have talent in what you do musically.

The Musicians Who DON’T Get My Respect:

  • Are the ones who act like douchebags, musicians who act like assholes to people. They are out there.
  • The ones who have a huge ego problem. Musicians who jerk themselves off with their self importance. Thinking they’re so talented and big, most of the time.
  • Musicians that think it’s okay to attack and criticize other musicians. This has been a problem for years in the musicians community.
  • Musicians that try to scam people money with their kickstarter projects and other fundraising stuff for their albums, tours, etc. A lot of them are capable of doing that stuff with their own budget.
  • Musicians who act unprofessional either online or off.
  • Musicians who don’t care about fans supporting them. I’ve seen it. Some bands are not good with their fans for shit, when their fans don’t even realize it.
  • Musicians who fall for scams easily and non-trusting label signings. Musicians who actually go for pay to play gigs.
  • Musicians who get upset at criticism easily and gets defensive over attacks aimed at them online. If you can’t take a bit of honesty, then being a musician isn’t for you. Sorry.

I can keep going with these lists all day.

The problem with the music community here, that a lot of musicians like to support every musician they set eyes upon. Not with me you see, I like to look at things with a bit of reality. Just gotta be real about stuff and not be a faker or a liar, you know?

I have been criticized for my negative rants at musicians over the years, and just wanted to clarify.

Fitness topic…

I haven’t posted a fitness topic in a long while, so I figure I post one now. I had to take a full week off of fitness ’cause I came down with a bad cold this week. Coughing like hell, runny nose and all that stuff. Felt like shit for a few days. You don’t ever want to workout with a bad cold. I plan on going back to my fitness routine tomorrow ’cause I’m feeling a lot better. I still have the runny nose, but no more coughing. I haven’t had a full week off of bodybuilding in a long while. I went through pretty much the whole summer working out non stop, 3 days a week, and doing plenty of cardio (either jogging, walking or biking is my preferred cardio). The best time to take a full week off of fitness is either when you’re sick or you’re on vacation.

For the past couple of weeks now, I’ve been experimenting with something a little different with my set of reps. Instead of doing the boring 3 sets to 12 reps for each workout. I decided to move on up to 3 sets to 20 reps, when doing moderate heavy lifting, hoping to get even more gains and it kind of works a little bit. I just want to change around the sets and reps routine some.

I was going to start my workout routine today, but the show I went to last night, made me tired, didn’t get home til past 3 and only had 3 hours of sleep last night. I’m still doing the fitness thing, and will never give it up. My second passion behind music.

The only way to draw lots of people to your music… good songwriting…that’s it!!!

We hear stuff like this all the time. You ask yourself these questions. Why aren’t many people supporting my music? How come my mp3’s aren’t getting too many plays? How come not many people are coming to my gigs? Well, do you ever stop and think, that you need to step up your songwriting skills and improve your craft? If you’re getting lack of support of your music, you can’t put the blame on other people, when the reality is, you need to put the blame to yourself. You have to look at your songs and see what you need improved on. If you want your music to be at your best, you’ve got to be a perfectionist for a lot of reasons. Take everything in songwriting seriously. People are not going to support music if they don’t like it, that’s a fact that’s been proven for years. When a musician complains about lack of support, they get all defensive. Saying things like, “Waaaah, people don’t support me. I’m great and they should respect me”. I’ve been guilty of this myself before. Again that old saying, “You can’t beg for respect, you earn it”.

I’m trying everything I can to improve my songwriting skills. It’s a learning skill, indeed. While you can’t please everyone, there is a way to get everyone to like your music, it just needs to be really good. Good music draws people to your stuff. No other way around it, as I said plenty of times in the past. Someday, I would like to make the best music possible where I can make everyone happy, but it’s difficult to do. This is how EBJ is inspiring me. They’re inspiring me to write better music. If you want to get popularity and success in your music, step up your talent.

Writing a great song that grab a listener’s ear, will get people’s attention. Take your time with the music. No need to rush. You don’t have to have the best singing voice or the best guitar playing skills, all it takes is songwriting talent. I’m going to take lyric writing more seriously too and try to take to a different approach. Maybe make my lyrics more poetic, than storytelling. I’m going to start planning on reading more poetry too. You can’t beg people to enjoy your music, doesn’t work that way. They’ll let you know when you’re good. You don’t tell yourself that you’re good.

I’ll confess that WWE is shit right now…

I did watch “Summerslam” ppv last weekend and it was one of the worst ppv’s I’ve ever seen. WWE is really going down the shitter with this stupid PG rating. Why did WWE get rid of the “Attitude Era” and went PG? It’s not because of John Cena and little kids supporting WWE at all. The only reason WWE is for children now is because Linda McMahon is in politics and is running for Senate. I mean, think about it, right? Linda was targeted for the Attitude Era stuff in the past. She was in hot water for a little bit because of all the violence, sex, and inappropriate stuff that were aired during the “Attitude Era”, which kind of hurt her political campaign. This is the only reason for the PG rating ’cause Vince would do whatever it takes to help Linda win the Senate election and she’s doing good in the election so far, she’s moving on up. If they turned WWE back to the TV-14 rating, that’ll hurt her campaign even more.

I remember taking a long break from watching WWE for at least several months. I started watching again because Brock Lesnar came back, and like always, WWE is still lame. The storylines look like they come from a children’s book or something. Plus when a superstar gets injured on TV, people actually believe it’s a real injury, and WWE tries to make storylines seem realistic. It’s hard to believe what’s real and what’s not in wrestling anymore, know what I mean?

I miss wrestling back in the 90’s when it used to be wrestling. This is why Vince is trying to ignore wrestling and turn it into entertainment ’cause it’s all about Linda’s campaign. Vince is a manipulator and marketing genius, remember that. He wants her to have a clean and appropriate election without the media attacking her like they did before. Vince doesn’t want to turn off the voters away from her. She’s in politics full time now, and I don’t see WWE going back to TV-14 anytime soon. This is why John Cena will never turn heel. It’s all because of Linda’s campaign.

Even though I don’t like the company’s current product, I still respect Vince and I love their performers though. I’m thinking about giving up on WWE again, possibly for good. All the stars we all love came and gone, there’s all new and young guys working for the business now. A different era. Yep “Summerslam 25” was a bad ppv, it only had one great match which was Jericho vs. Ziggler.

I understand why kids and families support WWE currently. If I ever get myself a family someday, I would turn the kids onto WWE sure ’cause I was into WWE ever since I was a child. That’s the only reason to support WWE is when you have a kid, but when you’re a full grown adult, it’s hard to take WWE seriously to this day.

“Don’t Bother To Knock” is Marilyn’s best performance in her career, in my opinion…

Last night, I watched the Netflix DVD rental of “Don’t Bother To Knock”. Yes, you guess it, another Marilyn Monroe flick. I think this is her best film in her career, and it was her best performance too, which she should have gotten an Oscar nod for. Believe it or not, Marilyn Monroe has never been nominated for anything by the Academy, which she should have, but she did win 2 Golden Globes for “Bus Stop” and “Some Like It Hot”. I thought her performance for “Don’t Bother To Knock” was Oscar worthy enough. It’s a real shame that she never got anything from the Oscars though.

Back to the film, “Don’t Bother To Knock” is about an airplane pilot name Jed, who was dumped by his girlfriend, so he starts getting interested in his next door neighbor Nell (Monroe), who is a babysitter. Turns out that Nell was just getting out of a mental hospital and she hasn’t gotten better yet, still kind of insane in a way. This movie is a love triangle story, and Nell turns violent toward the end.

Marilyn is mostly known for starring in comedy/musicals over the years, but she has had a few pretty dark roles, this film here, and “Niagra”. I just can’t stop watching Marilyn flicks. I just watched “Prince and the Showgirl” a week ago, it was alright but not her best film. I’m trying to catch up with all the classics. I love those films from the 30’s – 50’s. You should too. This is true cinema, not most of the garbage you see nowadays.

Happy 67th Birthday, Vincent Kennedy McMahon

As of today, it is Vincent Kennedy McMahon’s 67th birthday. The genius who brought us the WWE.

When Vince McMahon was born in 1945, he actually never met his father until he was 12. At that time, Vince McMahon Sr. was running, Capitol Wrestling Corporation, which is how Vince McMahon Jr., first became interested in professional wrestling. Originally McMahon Jr., wanted to become a professional wrestler himself but his father would not let him. He felt it was bad business that promoters got into wrestling. In 1968, McMahon Jr. graduated from East Carolina University with a business degree and he was part manager of the World Wide Wrestling Federation (which McMahon Sr., changed the company name to).

In the 1970’s, that’s when McMahon Jr., started working for his father’s wrestling company full time. McMahon Jr., was the one who urged his father to change the business name again to just, “World Wrestling Federation”. McMahon Jr., got his start on TV by being an in ring announcer (long before Howard Finkel, aka “The Fink”), then McMahon became backstage interviewer for wrestlers and later on became color commentator in the early 80’s.

When McMahon Jr’s father died, that’s when he decided to buy the company, and Vince kept the WWF name. One of the first wrestling icons to enter the WWF, was of course, none other than Hulk Hogan, who is responsible for turning the WWF into a world wide phenomenon that we still know today. After Hogan, more wrestlers followed his footsteps with the likes of Andre the Giant, Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Jake the Snake, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, etc. Wrestlers who helped make the company huge. Vince is also famous for the “Rock N’ Roll Wrestling Connection” which brought in the likes of Hogan, Cyndi Lauper, Captain Lou Albano, etc.

Vince didn’t become an actual performer/wrestler until the early 90’s, after the controversial, Montreal Screwjob incident, between Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels at a Survivor Series ppv. From there, that’s when the huge Vince vs. Stone Cold feud blew up and continued on ’til the 2000’s or later. Vince also had big feuds with Bret the Hitman Hart, John Cena, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Donald Trump, Zach Gowen, and the rest of the McMahon family.

The WWF were forced to change their company name due to losing their trademark battle against the World Wildlife Fund, and now the company is changed again to, WWE. No matter what you think of Vince Jr., love him or hate him. What he did here was a work of genius. He is a master business man, no matter what you think of him. This is part of the reason why I admire professional wrestling ’cause I’m impressed with what Vince does with the business. He certainly is a hard working guy and did all the work himself to get where he is today. He does a good job, and he’s responsible for everything in the professional wrestling business. Vince McMahon is god, and needs to be respected.

In the videos are some of Vince McMahon’s best moments on wrestling TV. Enjoy, and Happy Birthday Vinnie Mac. YYYOOOOUUUU’RREEE FIREEEEDDDDDdddd!

Feel free to come out to this EBJ show tomorrow night, the Blind Owl Band and the Mallet Brothers are openers…

I’ll be going to this EBJ show tomorrow night at the Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs. Feel free to come on out if you got nothing going on, and want to see EBJ yourself.

See the show event, here.

I’ve been wanting to check out the Blind Owl Band and the Mallet Brothers for a long while. Both bands look interesting to me. Tomorrow night shall be a good night of music.

I don’t go out to support local music much anymore as I used to, but I like to go out to see EBJ ’cause they are a band that I respect more than anyone around here.

Brocks thoughts on Prince Harry partying with girls and getting naked in Vegas…who cares? Let him have the fun…

Honestly, I don’t find anything wrong with Prince Harry wanting to have a little fun in the USA. He has private sexual fantasies like most of us, so what’s the big deal? He may have an obsession of being a nudist. He probably does these things all the time in England, except when he decided to do it in the USA, of course, he had to be exposed by the media, thanks to TMZ. TMZ is a pretty cold and evil website, I always hated them. I don’t even read TMZ anymore like I used to. Prince Harry deserves the rights to his privacy. So whoever took the pics and sent them to TMZ is a total loser. America is obsessed with famous people, and it’s making me sick. Who cares if Harry wants to have fun and party it up? That’s his business. Can you blame him? It’s VEGAS! Everyone wants to party in Vegas.

Just wanted to give my brief thoughts on this for those who are wondering. Harry did nothing wrong at all. As long it’s legal (which was), he has the right to party it up with women if he wanted. HE IS PRINCE FUCKING HARRY! The man has the power to do what he wants to do, of course, the USA ladies will be all over him. Let him enjoy himself and leave him the hell alone.

Report: LL Cool J brings his hit, “Mama Said Knock You Out” to real life by catching a would be burglar at his home…

What I mean by the title of this topic, LL wrote the song “Mama Said Knock You Out”, which is about him being a fighter, and acting like a tough guy. Well he brought that tough guy attitude to real life when he actually stopped a would be burglar, who was about ready to rob his home. The suspect was caught by LL himself who happened to be home at the time.

If you look at the lyrics to the song, “Mama Said Knock You Out”, it shows that the song could be how he is in real life, he’s a tough guy and a fighter, who don’t take shit from anyone. Don’t mess with LL Cool J, or he could knock you out.

More on the story, here.
