I'm a musician, singer/songwriter, blogger, writer, poet, bodybuilder, movie lover, music lover, video gamer, history/political buff, conservative/republican, etc. I like to do a lot of things.

My new mission with my music…

Just like every musician and band, I want my music to be heard too. I too want to be recognized as a songwriter/musician like everyone else. I would like to be recognized as a music artist and not just an online blogger. In order for me to help get my music known more, I need to write better songs. Which is why I decided to change my songwriting style a bit. Stop writing songs about horror fiction and serial killers, so I decided to start writing songs about serious things. Songs that are about real things like politics, topical songs, protest songs, etc. Write lyrics that are realistic.

I’m trying the best I can to get noticed as a musician and I’m going to do all I can to make that happen in my next round of gigging.

So from this point on, I’m going to be mostly promoting my music in this blog. I’m not giving up posting entertainment news, I’m still doing that. I will use this main site to promote my stuff. People know me as a blogger and online person. It’s time that people should start hearing my tunes.

I’m pretty proud of the songs that I write. I’m going to keep writing new songs all Spring/Summer long so I can have enough songs for a new demo. I need to get a new studio demo out there.

Film Review: Thor

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins

Directed by: Kenneth Branagh

Well today, I decided to go to the movies for something to do. Get out of the house for the day. I’ve been wanting to see the new “Thor” movie for a long time. Now it’s finally here, I went and saw it. Here is my review.

Plot/Synopsis: In 965 A.D., King Odin (Hopkins) sends his warrior son, Thor, from Asgard to Earth, in our present time, forcing him to live with humans. Of course, when Thor first arrived in Earth in our present time, he had a lot to learn and didn’t understand Earth. So Natalie Portman’s character, Jane Foster, tries to guide him living on Earth. She becomes a love interest for Thor. One of the most dangerous villains from Thor’s home land of Asgard, comes to invade Earth to try and kill Thor. Thor tries to save Earth from his enemies.

As a kid, I used to love reading Thor comics, so I was already a big fan of the character. I was a little worried that this film might suck since most Marvel movies aren’t that good, but, I was actually very impressed with Marvel’s “Thor”. This film actually told a superhero story, the right way. It stayed true to the comics.

The casting was really great and the acting was not that bad. I thought Chris Hemsworth as Thor, was a very good choice. Anthony Hopkins has been my favorite actor for years. Anthony always pulls off really good acting chops no matter what role he does, that guy can do anything.

I hate 3D movies. Most 3D movies are pretty bad, but I thought a 3D, “Thor” was very fitting. The 3D effects were very cool on Thor and that’s what the character needed to be cool. The special effects and the CGI made it feel like you were watching a movie, and not a cartoon. The special effects in the film was crazy.

There is something for everyone in this film. Action, suspense, comedy, romance, etc. It’s all there. I think this is the best Marvel superhero movie out of them all. They did a great job with “Thor”. I am so looking forward to the sequel already! I would go see this flick in theater again!

Score for “Thor” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

Played open mic earlier tonight…

I went to an open mic night at a small venue called the “111” in Greenwich. I played three tunes, “Say Goodbye, Osama”, “Be Home Safe”, and “The Nightmare Has Begun Today”. Surprisingly enough, “Say Goodbye, Osama” actually got a very strong applause from the crowd.

Honestly, I thought the audience would hate me for playing the song. They might feel offended, but they actually liked it. Some people even came up to me to say to my face that they liked the song. The song is not a homage to Osama. The song is a celebration of his death, just read the lyrics in that video. There is swearing in the song, yes, but I feel it’s appropriate to add swearing into it. I mean, if you want it to be an angry song and if you want to be angry at Bin Laden for the things that he did, I figure swearing makes the song right. I thought about using the word “fucker” or “asshole”, but nah, not angry enough. So I thought using the word, “motherfucker” is perfect.

I don’t think I’ll be playing this tune at all of my gigs though. Probably only the bar room gigs, not the family cafes.

The song was inspired by all the metal bands that I listen to: Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Sabbath, etc. I’m very proud of the song. I would like to record a studio version of it with a live band at some point. I just gotta find the right musicians and studio time in order to get it done. If I were to get a new demo CD done, I would do it in a professional local studio. I’ve been looking at working with Don Fury who has a studio in Troy. I hear he’s a very good producer to work with and I think I’ll work with him when I get a band going.

Report: “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” re-boot gets writers…

GK Films has hired new writers, for the upcoming “Tomb Raider” re-boot. They have hired, Mark Fergus and Hawk Otsby, who brought us “Iron Man” and “Cowboys & Aliens”.

Deadline, reports.

I usually disagree with re-boot films but this franchise needs to start over again ’cause the last Tomb Raider movie was pretty bad. I liked the first “Tomb Raider” film but the second one sucked.

The movie needs to be more like the video games. Have Lara solve mysteries and puzzles in historical places. It needs to have a good story and great action scenes.

I still say Rhona Mitra should be the new Lara Croft for the live action movie. She did the voice overs for the video games. I love Tomb Raider games. Especially the last one, “Tomb Raider: Underworld” which is the best Tomb Raider game ever, I think. She’s like a female version of Indiana Jones but a little different.

I hope the new movie will have Lara climb really high things much like the games. That’s what makes the games so much fun and addicting because Lara can do cool things. I hope they do a good job with the movie next time around. I want a good Tomb Raider flick like everyone else.

Hopefully they don’t just make it a popcorn action flick full of violence and CGI effects. This should be a serious Tomb Raider movie with a good story.

Report: Arnold makes “Cry Macho” his next movie official…

Arnold’s getting back to work right away. He decides to make that horse drama, “Cry Macho”, his next official movie where he plays a horse trainer. A lot of you may think to yourself, “Huh? Arnold on a Horse? LOL!”. Just for your information, “Cry Macho” won’t be the first movie where he rode a horse on in a film. Remember, in the movie “True Lies”, Arnold rode a police horse to chase some guy on a motorcycle (see the scene below).

While it is kind of disappointing that Arnold is doing a drama film first, I’m just glad he’s going back to leading roles, where he belongs. I’ll probably see “Cry Macho” in theater, sure. I’m looking forward to seeing how Arnold handles a drama film which he’s never done before. You can’t blame him for trying something different.

On top of that, Arnold seems to be a big horse lover and he attends a lot of horse races. I think he goes to the Kentucky Derby every year.

Deadline, reports.

R.I.P.: Jackie Cooper 1922 – 2011

Jackie Cooper was born with acting. Yes, that’s right, he was born with it. Jackie started acting in Hollywood film at the age of 3, when he appeared as an extra in films with his grandmother. Later he started starring in a bunch of films with legendary actor, Lloyd Hamilton. Jackie never won an Academy award but he was the very first young star to be nominated for an Academy Award for “Best Actor in a Leeding Role” for the film, “Skippy”. As he got older, he started several collaborations with legendary actor, Wallace Beery, with “Treasure Island” being their most well known film.

As an adult, Jackie served in the U.S. Army for World War II. After the war, he started to star in a bunch of TV shows such as, “The People’s Choice” and CBS’s “Hennessey”.

In the late 1970’s, Jackie Cooper became a more well known and mainstream actor when he got casted as Perry White for Richard Donner’s, “Superman: The Movie”, he played the Daily Planet head honcho. Jackie starred as Perry White in all 4 Superman films. Jackie announced retirement from film, but he still kept directing some episodes for the TV show, “Superboy”. Jackie Cooper died in Beverly Hills, California. He was 88 years old.

More on my Bin Laden song…

Well, it seems that people actually enjoy “Say Goodbye, Osama” song, so far. Getting some responses already. People giving it thumbs up. The song was done in a rush. Very quick. It just came to me. The ending needs some changing around, the ending where I do all them, “oooohhhsss”.

I just heard that song in my head, and just had to get it out of me. It needs to be re-done a little bit. That was just a rough take in that youtube video. It’ll be better, trust me.

As you can hear in that song, it’s very “metal” inspired. So imagine what that tune would sound like in your head in a full band with full blown electric guitar and heavy distortion ’cause that’s how I heard the song in my head. Notice I’ve been writing more harder rock stuff? It’s because I have plans in forming my own band down the road. I’ll make it happen soon.

Cool Video: “Chyna” Joanie Laurer returns to professional wrestling after a long 10 year hiatus…

Guess who’s back to pro wrestling? That’s right, Chyna – Joanie Laurer has returned to wrestling after a long 10 year break from the wrestling business. Chyna left WWE in 2001. After she left WWE, she worked for New Japan Pro Wrestling for a few years, after she left that company, she didn’t do any wrestling at all. During her break from wrestling she did appear in a lot of TV shows and in some movies, but the reason she didn’t do much in her career after her WWE days is because she was having a lot of personal problems in her life.

She became a drug addict, and suffered depression, all kinds of stuff. She must of gotten her personal life straightened out if she is finally ready to return to wrestling.

This is not a very good video, look like it was shot on a cell phone camera, but Chyna’s TNA debut is set to air next Thursday May 12th. She is revealed as Kurt Angle’s mysterious, mistress.

Report: Tony Iommi to release his own autobiography later this fall…

Metal legend, Tony Iommi is set to release his own autobiography this year titled, “Iron Man: My Life With Black Sabbath and Beyond”. The book is set for a Nov. 1st release date.

Tony didn’t write this book on a computer. He just wrote it by pen and paper. Why? I’ll imagine the reason he didn’t type it because he lost the tip of a few fingers of his right hand. It be hard to type that way, right? So he had no choice but to write it by hand.

The legendary guitarist is open about everything about his life. His childhood, his freak accident at the factory he worked at where he injured his right hand, music, guitar playing, how he started Black Sabbath, how he came up with the sound of “metal” which he invented, his failed marriages, drugs, alcohol, etc.

I love to read musician biographies ’cause they are interesting to learn. I’m more interested on Tony’s insight on music. You can expect a lot of guitar playing talk mostly. I’ll also expect a lot of Ronnie James Dio talk as well. I’m interested in what made him want to pick up the guitar and how he started playing.

There’s a lot of great metal guitarists out there, but in my opinion, Tony is one of the true greats. He started it all. The founder of metal. Tony was at the top of his game back in the 60’s and 70’s, he was very popular back then. Seems like no one knows who Tony is anymore. He is a talented guitar player. I’m a huge fan of the guy.

Read more on the story, here.
