Report: Bruce Willis still on for “Die Hard 5” and “Unbreakable 2″…

Bruce Willis spoke out saying that he is still committed to playing in “Die Hard 5” and the sequel to the 2000 released M. Night Syamalan movie, “Unbreakable”. Bruce says he wants Len Wiseman to return to direct “Die Hard 5”. Len Wiseman directed, “Live Free or Die Hard”. As for “Unbreakable”, a sequel was in the works since the 1st one ’cause the ending to that movie left open for another movie. Bruce says he will be willing to star in “Unbreakable 2” only if Samuel L. Jackson is willing to return as well.

Lets hope “Die Hard 5” will be a better movie, ’cause I hated “Live Free or Die Hard”. I think “Unbreakable 2” will be interesting ’cause I liked the first one a lot. I usually hate M. Night Shyamalan flicks, but the “Unbreakable” flick is the only good movie he did.

Report: Ed Harris to star in “Big Red” with WWE star Randy Orton…

WWE Films is doing a family film titled, “Big Red” which will star Ed Harris and Amy Madigan in the lead. With WWE being in charge of this film, of course, there will be a WWE superstar involved and that is Randy Orton. Ed Harris will play an English school teacher and Randy will play the father of a bully who wants the teacher fired. So this means it’s Ed Harris vs. Randy Orton in a film?

Does this also mean that Ed Harris could be hired as a RAW guest host in the future? Possibly. Ed Harris being RAW guest host would be pretty sweet. Who knew that Ed was such a big wrestling fan? You just never know who is!!!

Report: Quentin Tarantino admits he won’t win Oscar for Best Director, and predicts Kathryn Bigelow will win it instead…

Tarantino, speaks out his prediction for the Oscars. Tarantino says he has a very good chance in winning an Oscar for “Best Screenplay” or “Best Picture”, but he says he definitely won’t get one for “Best Director”. He thinks the “Best Director” award will go straight to Kathryn Bigelow, director of the war film, “The Hurt Locker”.

I actually agree with Tarantino’s prediction but I have this bad feeling that James Cameron will wind up getting everything again like he did for “Titanic”. I know a lot of people don’t want to see it happening, but sad to say, it probably will be James Cameron’s year again.

I hope Kathryn wins for “Best Director” or even better “Best Picture”, ’cause “The Hurt Locker” in my opinion, is the best film out of all the “Best Picture” nominations.

Thought: About the Kurt Cobain biopic movie…

So the Kurt Cobain biopic movie is finally moving forward. They have tapped, Oren Moverman, to write and direct the Kurt Cobain movie. To those who don’t know who Oren Moverman is, he did that movie, “The Messenger”. I know the Kurt Cobain biopic is getting a lot of hate, saying it should have never been done out of respect for Kurt, but I actually want the Kurt Cobain biopic to happen. He really deserves one.

With music biopics like “La Bamba”, “Walk the Line”, “Great Balls of Fire” and “Ray”…those films are really amazing and successful.

I think a Kurt Cobain film would be very dark, moving and powerful if  the script is good and the acting is good. Just imagine the film concentrates on Kurt’s dark past with drugs, marriage with Courtney, being suicidal, depressed, etc. Could the end of the Kurt Cobain movie actually show his suicide where he locks himself in a room and shoots himself in the head? That’s probably gonna happen. With the right actor, I think it could be a moving and powerful performance that could have Oscar potential.

The Kurt Cobain biopic could be something very special.

I’m sure there are more music biopics film coming in the future like there’s a Bob Marley biopic in the works. Also there’s a Jimi Hendrix and Michael Jackson biopic in the planning stages too.

Who do I think should play Kurt Cobain? Probably Taylor Kitsch from “Friday Night Lights” would be my pick. If you look at Taylor both are very similar. This would be a good acting opportunity for Taylor so I hope they consider him. While Taylor is known as a TV star, he sometimes appears in big screen movies. Taylor Kitsch last appeared in, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” where he played the Bandit villain.

As for who to play Courtney Love, Drew Barrymore maybe? As for who to play Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, I don’t know yet. Maybe unknown actors for them?

Report: Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are re-teaming for Warner Bros…but for producing…

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are re-teaming for Hollywood again after all these years. Warner Bros. is in negotiations with the two stars for a first look producing deal. For now, Ben and Matt will only be producing. No word if they’ll star in together or write a film together as they did for “Good Will Hunting”, but who knows. Maybe they will star/write a film together for Warner Bros. I hope so, ’cause I really liked, “Good Will Hunting” a lot!

Finally saw, “It Might Get Loud”…

So today, I was shopping for music in Itunes, so I decided to rent “It Might Get Loud”. I had to watch it right away tonight since you only get to keep the rented film for 24 hours. I really was blown away with the film and I think it’s definitely one of the best music documentary’s I’ve ever seen. It was really powerful stuff.

I loved seeing the Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack White in a room together, talking about music and playing guitars. It really shows their passion and obsession with music and guitar playing. So many great scenes in the film. One of my favorite scenes was when the Edge took a cheap Tascam 4 track and was listening to his old demos of U2 songs that weren’t even finished back then. I also loved the scene when the Edge was playing the song “Elevation”, he explains that the hit U2 song “Elevation” is actually a simple song to play, it’s the sounds effects on the pedals that’s making the song sound challenging. “Elevation” is just a simple two chord riff in the verses. I also loved the Edge, Jimmy and Jack teaching each other how to plays songs of the bands they play in.

I respect Jack White in so many ways ’cause him and I are very similar. On the documentary, they showed how Jack wrote songs for the White Stripes. They showed footage of Jack sitting alone in a room with a guitar and a cheap tape recorder. He’ll just write the lyrics first, hit record and start playing. Not worrying the sound quality or how high tech the recording equipment is. That’s the way I always wrote and recorded music too. I never cared to get all high tech and get fancy with recording, I just wanted to record songs and just play no matter the sound quality. It can be a shitty sound or whatever. Nothing really have to be profesional when it comes to recording music and Jack White proves that.

Most profesional musicians would use all kinds of fancy and very expensive instruments and recording equipment, that they are all about perfection…but not with these guys. These guys will play with any guitar and record with any equipment, whatever they can get their hands on. They just want to play guitar and make music, that’s all they care about, period. This film gets very deep about playing the electric guitar.

It makes me want to concentrate on playing the electric guitar more than anything else. It makes me want to form myself a band and get myself out there, rockin’ in front of audiences. Just today, I played with my new electric guitar for a little while, and I had the BOSS Super Overdrive pedal on. I felt like I was in a different world and made me feel like home. The Super Overdrive pedal is a great guitar sound, kind of like a distortion pedal but not too heavy. Just a good enough pedal that I needed to get that rock n’ roll sound I want. Most of my acoustic songs that I wrote in the  past were originally intended to be electric guitar rock songs, so when I get a band, I will make them guitar rock versions.

“It Might Get Loud” is a great movie that will make you want to become a musician yourself. Do yourself a favor for all you music lovers out there, see the film and be inspired.

Is Alec Baldwin depressed again???

I remember when Alec Baldwin did a Playboy interview a while back, he admitted to being suicidal in the past. Now it looks like he’s being suicidal again. I guess he wasn’t lying when he says he’s a suicidal person. I wonder if Alec will even make it to the Oscars when he hosts it with Steve Martin on March 7th? The guy revealed not too long ago that he wants to quit acting for good and hopefully go into politics or something. If he wants to quit acting this soon, then that means something must be up with Alec in his personal life.

I don’t mean to predict death on someone, but I think Alec needs to get the help that he needs before he actually committs suicide this year. If he doesn’t get any better soon, he could pull out of the Oscars, never know. Remember, he didn’t even appear at the Golden Globes when he won for his role for “30 Rock” for whatever reason.

Film Review: The Wolfman

Starring: Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins

Directed by: Joe Johnston

Today on a day off of work, I decided to go to the mall, to check out the new “Wolfman” movie and to do some shopping. Yes, I did pick up the new “Bioshock 2” video game and a few other little things.

Here is my review:

Plot/synopsis: This film is a remake of the 1941 famous horror film, “The Wolf Man” which the original was directed by George Waggner and starred, Claude Raines as Sir John Talbot and Lon Chaney as the Lawrence Talbot/the Wolf Man. The remake stars Benicio Del Torro as Lawrence Talbot/the Wolfman and Anthony Hopkins plays Sir John Talbot. The remake pretty much has the same plot as the original. It is where Lawrence Talbot (Del Toro) returns home to visit his father after a terrible family tragedy. Lawrence is bitten by something which he ends up turning into a werewolf himself. The only difference is that the original doesn’t go for the search of Talbot’s brother like the remake did.

This film is getting mixed opinions with critics online. It’s another one of those films that you either love or hate. Me? I liked it quite a lot!!! While the story and plot is a little different from the original, the film did stay true to the 1941 version! In my opinion, the remake is very much like an action movie more than horror. Benicio Del Toro is an actor who don’t play leading roles much. He mostly played supporting roles throughout his career. I believe this is Benicio’s first big leading role in a mainstream film. So people should respect this movie for that. I thought Benicio did a fine job. Anthony Hopkins is always an amazing actor as usual as he did a fine job in this movie too. It was brilliant seeing Benicio and Anthony together.

It’s very much like the original ’cause the movie is dark. It does borrow some scenes from the original, but the reason this version is a little different ’cause I believe Joe Johnston just wanted his vision. Remakes don’t have to be exactly the same. Rob Zombie made the “Halloween” series totallly different from the originals and he greatily succeeded. So don’t get mad at Joe for making, “The Wolf Man” a little different. In the remake you still get to see the Wolf Man running around in dark fog and seeing gypsies like the original, and yes, you get to see the Wolfman falling in love with a woman like the original. Most of the movie stayed true to the original except they changed the ending a little bit.

What makes it better that the great Danny Elfman scored the movie which the score is awesome. Plus, the sounds effects of the movie were pretty loud and insane. It’s not a bad movie that people are making it out to be. Benicio was so cool in this and I hope he stars in more horror flicks ’cause he’s good at it!

Score for “The Wolf Man” remake = *** (3 stars as in “excellent”)

Report: Costner to get on the director’s chair and star the lead again for “A Little War of Our Own”…

Kevin Costner will finally get back on the director’s chair and star the leading role again. It’s been a while since he has done that hasn’t he? Costner will direct and star in a new film titled, “A Little War of Our Own” which he will play a Sheriff who must protect a town from violence during World War II. Costner last directed and starred in the movie, “Open Range”, which was released in 2003.

Report: Vin Diesel is game for third “Chronicles of Riddick” movie!!!

Isn’t it way cool that Vin Diesel is now willing to do sequels? Remember, Vinny used to never want to do sequels at all in the past!! I wonder what’s making him change his mind? He signed on for the fourth “Fast and Furious” movie, and now here comes the third “Riddick” movie. It’s good. I really enjoy the first two “Chronicles of Riddick” films. Good stuff. David Twohy who wrote and directed the first two, will write and direct the third one as well.
