Thought: The new Ghostbusters team should be this…

Since the next installment of Ghostbusters will focus on recruiting 4 young Ghostbusters to replace the originals, I wanted to name my choices of actors that should star in “Ghostbusters 3”.

Here are my choices:

  • Steve Carrell
  • Ben Stiller
  • Jack Black
  • Michelle Rodriguez or Megan Fox (tie)

There’s been reports that they are planning on adding a female Ghostbuster to the lineup. I think Steve Carrell would make a good version of a young Egon. Ben would make a good version of a young Ray. Jack would make a good version of a young Peter Venkman. The female Ghostbuster would probably end up being a love interest with one of them and she joins up with them.

According to AICN, look like “Ghostbusters 3” is heading into reality so it looks like it’s definitely happening.

Report: Robert Redford puts together an impressive cast for his next film, “The Conspirator”…

Robert Redford has put together an interesting cast for his next directed film, “The Conspirator”, a film about the aftermath of President Lincoln’s assassination.

Starring in the film will be: Robin Wright Penn, James MacAvoy, Tom Wilkinson, Rachel Evan Wood, Kevin Kline and Alexis Bledell.

Robert Redford himself will not be starring in the film at all, he is just directing this one.

A cast like this is definitely bound for some serious Oscar nominations.

Report: Chris Pine in talks to play Jack Ryan…

Harrison Ford may have expressed interest in playing Jack Ryan again for the next film but it’s either Harrison changed his mind or Paramount doesn’t want him.

“Star Trek’s” Chris Pine is in talks with Paramount to star as Jack Ryan for the next Jack Ryan movie.

So far there’s been four Jack Ryan movies with different actors playing them. Chris Pine could be the next Jack Ryan star.

Variety Reports:

Chris would make a great Jack Ryan. I still prefer Harrison Ford reprising the role though, wonder what’s the story on that?

Report: Bryan Singer wants to direct “X-Men 4″…

It seems that Bryan Singer wants to return to the X-Men franchise. He is in talks with 20th Century Fox to direct the fourth installment of the X-Men series.

It seems he badily misses working on X-Men, that he seemed to come up with a new idea for the next film. Maybe he saw Bret Rattner’s “X-Men: The Last Stand” and thought the film sucked so he can come back to save the series.

Singer directed the first two X-Men flicks, but dropped out of X-Men 3 “The Last Stand” due to immediately jumping on the opportunity to direct “Superman: Returns” for Warner Brothers.

Now that there are no new plans for a new Superman movie in the works due to the Seigels heated feud with DC/Warner Bros, Singer still wants something to do in the comic book genre.

More on it here:

http://news-briefs.ew.com/2009/10/11/x-men-bryan-singer-returns/

That’s good, I’m glad Singer’s coming back. I fucking LOVED the first X-Men movie, 2nd one was pretty good. Didn’t like the third one.

Singer should have stayed with the X-Men movies, I’m glad he wants back in! Yeah!

Report: “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D” is coming, but will be made by the makers of “Saw” and not by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dune’s…

Twisted Pictures, the film company who owns the “Saw” series, is in final negotiations with Lionsgates studios to continue the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” series. Twisted and Lionsgate will take over “TCM”, which they will get the rights from New Line/Michael Bay’s Platinum Dune’s. New Line/Platinum Dune’s already made two “TCM movies which was the remake and a prequel. There will be a third movie which will be made in 3-D. Twisted Pictures plans to make more films with “TCM” which is what this deal is for.

They want to keep Leatherface and the “Saw” villain, Jigsaw under the same company.

Variety Reports:

Hope they make the next Texas Chainsaw gory and really gruesome, that’s the way these movies are supposed to be. With the makers of Saw now in charge, I’m sure they’ll make the TCM movies better.

Marcus Nispel’s version of “TCM” was really good, I liked it, but the gore should still make an improvement.

I like this move. Interesting.

Report: Steven Soderbergh speaks out on Gina Carano starring in “Knockout”…

Steven Soderbergh speaks to MTV News about more details on Gina Carano starring in the action flick, “Knockout” that he will soon be directing. He explained the reason why he has chosen her as the leading role. Soderbergh plans to make, the “Knockout” movie, an in-your-face, Jason Bourne styled action movie.

Instead he wanted a female to be the action hero. To make it more realistic, he wanted a female fighter that had the fighting skills. He explains he is a fan of MMA and turns out that he is a huge fan of Gina Carano in the sport. He’s been watching her in MMA for a long while and figure she would be perfect for this role.

Steven also explains that Gina will be involved in a few car chases in “Knockout”, but they won’t be that silly fake CGI stuff you see in other movies. The car chases will be more realistic like the car chases you see in real life.

MTV News reports:

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2009/10/08/steven-soderbergh-plans-to-create-the-female-jason-bourne-in-knockout/

Sounds way cool. Interesting. This could be a very promising movie and a great action flick if made right. I’m sure it will be great. Gina Carano in car chases and getting into action scenes with her own stunts? Hell yeah. Bring it on.

Since Steven said he’s going to have a cast around her with actors that are more well known so she can be comfortable, Steven would probably go for actors he already worked with in the past. Could Steven get George Clooney? Yes. What about Benicio Del Torro? Yes. He could even get Matt Damon to pair up with her in this flick.

Report: Bill Condon to direct Richard Pryor biopic, Marlon Wayans to star…

“Dreamgirls” director, Bill Condon, is in negotiations with Columbia Pictures to direct the Richard Pryor biopic. Condon has been dreaming of directing a Richard Pryor film for many years, and Columbia wants to make his dream come true for him.

Eddie Murphy was originally set to star as Richard Pryor in the film, but Murphy dropped out due to the film switching studios and Murphy wanting a higher paycheck. The film was first developed by The Weinstein Co. but Harvey Weinstein sold the rights to Condon ’cause he knew that Condon would be the right guy for the film.

Adam Sandler’s film company, Happy Madison, ended up getting the movie along with Chris Rock, Jennifer Pryor and others to produce it. They got it because they know Richard Pryor more than anybody and they wanted to make a Richard Pryor film right.

They plan to begin filming in the Spring of 2010.

Variety Reports:

http://weblogs.variety.com/bfdealmemo/2009/10/col-sandler-seek-pryor-engagement.html

I like the idea of Marlon Wayans being Richard Pryor. This sounds like an Oscar opportunity for Marlon.

This will be a special film and am looking forward to it.

Richard Pryor was one of my top 5 favorite stand up comedians and film actors. I loved him in movies like, “The Toy”, “Brewster’s Millions” and “See No Evil, Hear No Evil”. RIP Pryor.

Report: National Lampoon’s “Vacation” with the Griswold’s is coming back to the big screen…

New Line has greenlighted a sequel to the 1983 comedy classic, “National Lampoon’s Vacation”, which was originally directed by Harold Ramis and written by John Hughes. The film also starred comic legend, Chevy Chase. New Line will team up with Warner Bros. to get the film made and released.

The story to the new sequel will focus on Clark Griswold’s, oldest son, Rusty. Rusty is a full grown man with a family on his own now. Rusty takes his family on vacation just like his father did back in the old days. Yes, Clark and Ellen Griswold will be written for the script to appear as grandparents in the film, so Chevy and Beverly D’Angelo will make a return to the sequel. Chevy and Beverly has not yet signed a deal to return but I think they will jump on the opportunity when New Line approaches them.

David Dobkin is attached to direct. This would actually be the “fifth” National Lampoon’s Vacation movie with the Griswold’s as there is also, “National Lampoon’s European Vacation”, “Christmas Vacation”, and “Vegas Vacation”.

The Hollywood Reporter reports:

http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2009/10/vacation-sequel-from-new-line.html

If they can get Anthony Michael Hall to return as “Rusty” which I’m sure they will try and get him, then I’m sold. It would be great to see if Anthony Michael Hall will agree to reunite. I would rather see Harold Ramis directing again though. I love the Vacation movies with the Griswold’s.

Chevy Chase is still acting as he is currently at work on the NBC series, “Community” which is on every Thursday night before “The Office” comes on.

In defense of Adrien Brody for “Predators”…

Ever since the news was broke yesterday that Adrien Brody is starring the leading role in “Predators” as the film’s main action star, this idea is getting a lot of negativity and hate, as expected. I’m sure Robert Rodriguez expected a backlash on his choice of Adrien Brody, too.

Hey, even I said I’m not that big of a fan of his acting. Just because you don’t like his previous films in the past, does not mean he’s going to suck in this one.

Of course, most movie fans would want muscles and full of steroid action stars to be in “Predators”. Robert wanted a different idea. Robert wanted a guy with no action movie experience, so he went for a guy with acting talent. I don’t like Adrien’s acting eithier, but like him or not, Adrien has the skills. He is a talented actor. Robert clearly wanted a guy with acting talent, and not only being a tough guy badass.

Does Adrien have what it takes to be a toughguy badass? YES! He maybe getting a lot of hate now, but I think Adrien will not dissapoint “Predator” and action movie fans.

The reason for the hate on the choice of Adrien Brody is because he’s never done a sci-fi/action movie before, he’s mostly known as a drama star, and think he doesn’t have the potential to be an action movie star.

Hell, we all thought the same with Matt Damon when he was first announced he was doing the Bourne series. We all thought he didn’t have what it takes to be an action star, and Matt Damon was successful and delivered the Bourne films.

The same can happen with Adrien in “Predators”.

I have never seen, “The Pianist”, but I have seen him in the “King Kong” remake. “King Kong” was kind of like an action movie, almost.

If Robert had an action movie tough guy like Stallone, Dolph, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, The Rock, etc. play the lead in “Predators”, that would be silly and boring. Sci-fi action flicks that stars muscle action stars is getting old and boring.

I think Adrien’s the right guy, he’s perfect. This will indeed give him more opportunities to star in many more action flicks ahead after he’s done with “Predators”. Remember, a drama actor just don’t want to star in drama films his entire career.

I always saw Adrien Brody being an action movie kind of guy and I think he can pull it off. I think Robert Rodriguez is going to make this an awesome movie. Looking forward to seeing how he’s going to do it. I’m sure Robert will speak out soon on why he has chosen, Adrien Brody.

Just give Adrien a chance, I think he will deliver a great performance, doing his own action stunts and all.
