Greta Van Fleet has the perfect response to haters who dislike their music…

Greta Van Fleet maybe a great band but they’re not for everyone. They unfortunately have some haters too. Here is the band’s response to people who don’t like them and their music and it’s perfect:

“When we’re in the studio, we’re not thinking about what the people will like,” says Kiszka. “We make music for ourselves, honestly. We sculpt the album to be the way we want it to be rather than thinking, ‘Well, this might be catchy’ or ‘This may be more effective to grab listeners.’ When we released the album, we thought, ‘Well, here goes nothing.’”

Greta Van Fleet Have Bold Reaction To People Who Dislike Them

I  know the haters are probably gonna say, “That’s the most arrogant and egotistical thing for a band to say”.

No, not really. It’s actually a good attitude to have when you’re a musician or if you play in a band or whatever. There’s really nothing wrong with making music for yourself. There are too many musicians and bands out there worried about people not liking their music. My thoughts? Who cares whether or not people like your music, ya know? Just make music for  you and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. There’s nothing wrong with listening to your own music and nothing wrong with enjoying your own music. That’s why you play music to begin with, right? You pick up an instrument or sing just for you. Remember that.

With my own music, I’m not worried about what other people think of my music. I’ve always made music the way I’ve wanted. I’ve made the guitar playing the way I wanted, I sung the songs the way I wanted and wrote the lyrics however I wanted.

Some of you may think, I don’t care about the “fans” who actually support my music but I do. Always did. I’m flattered and honored that some people actually like my original songs. If people like my original music, that’s great. If people don’t, that’s great too. If you’re proud of your music, that’s all that matters. I don’t write songs to please other people but I try.

Speaking of original music, I gotta get back into songwriting again and I will this year, I promise. I’m itching for new songs.

Picked up some more music albums yesterday, both digitally and physical CD…

Yesterday, I ended up purchasing even more music albums. On physical CD, I picked up the new albums by Clutch and Alice in Chains.

From Itunes I picked up five more albums. Decided to get a couple of older albums by Clutch ’cause I’m gonna start listening to them, I think. I never listened to Clutch before and I think I’m gonna finally start. I know a lot of rock and metal fans love Clutch and I’m going to start checking them out for myself.

I was never much of a Judas Priest fan but I do like them and always respected them, just never bought any of their albums until now. I was meaning to get into Judas Priest for quite some time just never got around to it. A lot of people been saying great stuff about their newest album “Firepower” so I ended up getting that one and I also ended up getting their classic album “British Steel” as well.

As for Alice In Chains 2013 album “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here”, I figure I would try and catch up with the William Duvall era of that band. I didn’t like the William Duvall era of that band at first but it grew on me over the years so now I’m a huge fan of the William Duvall era of Alice In Chains.

Looking forward to listening to all these records. Trying to catch up with newer music and I am. The best of 2018 music albums will come pretty soon. Just gotten listen to these records and then I’ll start writing up the list.

Neil Young left Pegi Young for Daryl Hannah and now Pegi is dead, hope you’re proud of yourself, Mr. Young!

Man, this is sad and terrible news. Neil and Pegi were a couple for 36 years — they were married for a pretty long time. Then Neil starts dating “Splash” actress Daryl Hannah while Neil was still married to Pegi. Then Neil files for divorce on Pegi and a few years later, he marries Daryl.

Pegi Young has been battling cancer for a while now from what I’ve read but unfortunately, looks like she lost the battle.

https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-pegi-young-obituary-cancer-neil-young-20190102-story.html?fbclid=IwAR084x-mCRSkmn5CdWuZvOWVvhs-oEuUN_C5InK8L6rLYEDqKCk4JwYVLMc

Neil maybe a talented musician and all, I’ve admired his music for a pretty long time and am a fan but I’m not afraid to admit that Neil is a horrible person in real life. The man is an asshole and kind of a douchebag.

When you’ve been with the same woman for over 30 years you stay with that woman forever but apparently Neil never cared. It’s pretty clear that Neil cares more for Daryl than Pegi. You think Neil would be with Pegi while she tried to battled cancer and now she’s gone. Sounds like Neil wasn’t by her side when she peacefully passed and he should have been. Neil is now a certified piece of shit.

Will Neil put out a statement about Pegi’s passing? He really should but he probably won’t. We’ll wait and see. I’m sure he’s devastated yes but he should have been with her while she was battling the cancer. I’m sure Pegi wanted Neil by her side before she passed.

I know Pegi is a musician and singer herself. I’ve heard her solo songs before and she’s quite good. RIP Pegi.

The band Disturbed doesn’t deserve to get hated on, they’re a pretty rockin’ band… I love ’em!!!

Over the weekend, I bought two of Disturbed’s albums off of Itunes. I bought their first album, “The Sickness” and their newest album they just put out, “Evolution”. I used to listen that band Disturbed back in the early 2000’s years when that hit song “Down with the Sickness” started taking over the radio airwaves. Of course, everyone is familiar with that song as that song is considered the band’s anthem. I bought “The Sickness” album on CD when it came out and used to listen to it all the freakin’ time. I don’t have the CD anymore so I re-bought the album digitally and I forgot how sick of an album “The Sickness” really is. It really is an amazing record. Definitely one of the best metal and hard rock albums of all time.

Then I decided to buy their newest album “Evolution” in which everyone on the internet is talking about. The album is getting mostly negative reviews for whatever reason. I gave the album a listen once over the weekend and I really liked it a lot. I was trying to figure out why a lot of Disturbed fans hated that album, “Evolution”. When I listened to that album, I can see why a lot of people hate it. Over the weekend, I decided to give all the other Disturbed albums a listen. I decided to listen to the rest of the Disturbed albums in youtube since I don’t own the rest of them. On youtube, I listened to: “Believe”, “Ten Thousand Fists”, “Indestructible”, “Asylum” and “Immortalized”. I listened to all the band’s previous albums and I’m like, “Okay, I can understand why fans are upset ’cause the band changed directions with the music”.

The first 6 albums in the band’s career were all hard and heavy rockin’ albums. All their songs were pretty heavy and headbanging stuff… yet, when the band released “Evolution” this year, they decided to change directions with that album. The new album has songs that are mostly mellow and the songs are slower. This is why the fans are complaining ’cause the band decided to do something ballsy by mellowing it out. There are some heavy rockers on the new album, “Evolution” but most of the album is full of ballads. Is that why fans are upset? They’re upset at the band deciding to mellow out a little bit?

I can absolutely see why the band decided to mellow out on “Evolution” some ’cause the band spent the past ten years or more playing hard and heavy music and they were probably getting tired of it. I love it when bands do that. Decide to take big risks with their music and Disturbed did just that. Fans complain that all their songs sound the same but when Disturbed decided to sound completely different on “Evolution”, the fans are still complaining and hating. I can see why fans are complaining about the new record “Evolution” ’cause it’s different than their older stuff. Disturbed just simply wanted a break from playing heavy music all the time and I can’t blame them.

With that being said, I loved the new album “Evolution”. It showed a different side of the band and they wanted to show their listeners that they can be songwriters. They wanted to show fans that they are more than just heavy music. I was impressed with David Draiman’s vocals on the new album as it showed that he can be a “singer” than just a hard rock singer.

I think Disturbed is a phenomenal band and I would love to see them live myself. Donegan is a great guitarist and Draiman’s one of the best rock vocalist of all time. I think that band is tight as hell when they play their hard rock stuff. Some say Disturbed hard rock music all sounds the same? Um,  please. They all sound different to me. It’s just good ol’ metal. That is all.

Disturbed is one of the top metal bands in the industry and they are a best selling band. Usually the most successful metal bands are the most hated so just ignore the haters and enjoy the music.

Predicting the Woodstock 2019 lineup… who I think will possibly be booked…

Looking at how they booked Woodstock over the years, they book bands and artists of all genres including pop and rap artists. Yes, they book a lot of metal and hard rock bands too. Also, country and folk artists. Since Woodstock 2019 is the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock ’69, I’m sure you’re wondering if the festival will book acts that played at Woodstock ’69 to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary. Well that’s gonna be tough for them to do since many acts on Woodstock ’69 died over the years, many of the bands from Woodstock ’69 are no longer around but I’m sure they’ll book a few artists that played on ’69. I can see Carlos Santana and John Fogerty’s solo band getting a slot. Maybe the Who will get a headlining slot ’cause the Who is still playing music after all these years. They’re probably gonna get Joan Baez a slot who also performed at ’69. That’s probably about it really.

They’re probably gonna book a lot of other rock n’ roll legends and newer artists of today. I can see the Rolling Stones getting a headlining slot absolutely. Maybe Fleetwood Mac. Also: Phish and Dead & Company ’cause the festival is gonna want some jam band music so the audience can dance to it. Maybe Neil Young & Crazy Horse if lucky. They’re definitely gonna try to get Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band maybe.

I know the festival is going to be full of iconic bands and legends just like Woodstock ’99 was.

As for metal and hard rock bands, I can see them booking Metallica again. I can see them booking Slayer, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Opeth, Ozzy Osbourne solo, Black Label Society, Disturbed, Korn, Kiss, Guns N’ Roses, Pearl Jam, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, etc.

As for today’s Rock bands, I can see Woodstoock 2019 booking: the Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Greta Van Fleet, Mumford and Sons.

They’ll probably book some pop and rap artists for sure like Jay-Z, Kanye, Eminem, Drake, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and artists such as those.

As for country music, I’m not much of a country fan but I’m hoping they’ll get the Pistol Annies a slot ’cause they’re really good. I’m sure they’ll get some country artists, though. They’ll book artists of every genre, something for everybody.

It’s going to be interesting to see what the lineup will be.

Woodstock 2019 gets the greenlight, it’s definitely happening and it’s gonna happen at the same place where ’69 took place at…

Yeah, Woodstock 2019 was already confirmed earlier this year but it wasn’t yet known where it would take place at until now. It is now confirmed that Woodstock 2019 would take place at Bethel, N.Y. and it would take place at the same exact spot where Woodstock ’69 was taken place at 50 years ago which is something special.

https://www.whec.com/entertainment/original-woodstock-site-to-host-50th-anniversary-concert/5192782/

The event is already booked for Aug. 16 – 18 in 2019. There hasn’t been a new Woodstock festival since ’99 and finally we’re getting another Woodstock festival. It’s going to be the same format: bands & artists will play on an outside stage and there will be speakers too probably.

Will Wavy Gravy be there? Wavy Gravy is still alive believe it or not. I think the man would be in his 80’s by now and I would think he would probably be there to give speeches on stage like he did at all Woodstock festivals. Yeah, I’m sure Wavy Gravy will be a part of it like always.

Finding out what the festival lineup gonna be is gonna be interesting. Wonder who the big headliners are gonna be? I’m hoping they could get AC/DC to headline if lucky enough. Maybe Van Halen too. I know they’re gonna try to get Guns N’ Roses to headline. They’ll also probably get Metallica, the Foo Fighters, KISS, Ozzy Osbourne solo (maybe?), Queens of the Stone Age, etc. I’m sure they’ll book a bunch of rock and metal acts for sure.

I’m sure they’ll also book a bunch of pop and rap artists like Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye, Drake, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Taylor Swift and artists such as those.

Looking at how they booked Woodstock ’99, it looks like they try to keep up with the current music industry. They book all genres. I’m hoping Phish will get a slot and maybe Dead & Company.

That’s cool that this Woodstock is gonna take place at the original site which is about a 3 hour drive from here. I’m sure tickets to Woodstock 2019 won’t be cheap, though.

When Woodstock 2019 happens, you can expect all kinds of naked people walking around, all kinds of drugs and stuff like that. Hopefully there will be no riots at this concert like what happened toward the end of Woodstock ’99.

It’s exciting to see what the lineup will be though and can’t wait. I’m sure the lineup will be revealed on the official Woodstock FB page.

Purchased some new albums from Itunes today…

Just got an Itunes card today so I purchased 5 new albums from Itunes today so I can catch up with more 2018 album releases.

When I was younger, I used to listen to the band Disturbed. I used to listen to their album “The Sickness” which was the album that put their career on the map, but I don’t have that album anymore. I decided to get Disturbed newest album “Evolution” ’cause it’s getting good reviews everywhere. I’ve heard good things about it. I used to listen to the band myself so I already have an idea what they sound like. Disturb is a great hard rock band, though. They’ve always been a tight band and always wrote great hit songs, but I’m planning on listening to them a lot more.

As for the new Pistol Annies album, I’m not into new country music that much but these girls in the Pistol Annies are actually very good. Love them because they country music that sounds like actual country music. They don’t sound “pop” country if you know what I mean. The Pistol Annies are a talented group. Love them so much.

I’ve been a fan of Nita Strauss for a long while now and have been waiting for her debut solo album to come out. She’s been around in the music industry for years, but she never released her own album until now. Nita Strauss is a badass guitar player and very talented. Love her playing and I think the woman herself is sexy looking as hell.

As for Myles Kennedy “Year of the Tiger”, this album has been getting good reviews as well. He’s the singer for Slash’s solo project and Myles put out his own solo album. Looking forward to hearing this.

As for Slash’s new album, “Living the Dream”, I’ve been following Slash’s solo career for a long while now ever since “Apocalyptic Love” album. I’m a big fan of Guns N’ Roses yes but I’m more of a fan of Slash’s solo career. The stuff he does with Myles Kennedy is excellent shit. I’ve been reading about the new Slash album “Living the Dream” so I had to get it for myself.

There ya go. Enjoy!

Thoughts on the new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees of 2019… yes, they are all worthy even Janet Jackson!

Well I’m pretty happy with this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. They did a good job this time. The Cure, Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, Roxy Music and the Zombies. I admire and respect ALL of these musical acts.

Yeah, there are gonna be some that are gonna question Janet Jackson and Stevie Nicks being in there but they are both worthy totally. Stevie may be already in the Hall of Fame under Fleetwood Mac but this is her as a solo artist, though. Her as a solo artist is definitely worthy.

I also know that some are gonna bitch and complain about Janet Jackson being in there. The haters are going to make assumptions that Janet is not “rock” and say she’s a pop artist but Janet is rock n’ roll. I know how some out there gets upset that pop artists getting inducted in the Hall of Fame but pop music is rock. Many don’t think so but it really is. Rock n’ roll exists in all styles of music including hip hop. That’s why you are starting to see hip hop artists being inducted too.

With that being said, Janet’s career is pretty legendary and I’m a fan of her stuff. Loved her for a long time and still do. Her induction in the hall of fame was definitely long overdue. I agree with her being in.

Other than that I’m happy with the other inductees too. Even though I never bought any of the Cure’s records, I do like that band and want to start getting their stuff. I’m also a fan of Def Leppard… when I was a kid I used to own “Pyromania” and “Hysteria” albums on CD but got rid of them. Would like to get those two albums back and I plan on it at some point. Radiohead? Fuck yeah, totally worthy for sure. I’m a huge Radiohead fan as I own pretty much all of their albums except for “Ok Computer”, “Hail to The Thief” and “A Moon Shaped Pool” but I plan on getting them soon.

As far as Roxy Music goes, I didn’t listen to them much over the years but the only album I’ve heard of theirs was “For Your Pleasure” which was a great album. Bryan Ferry is a talented singer.

As far as the Zombies goes, I’m glad they’re in finally. This one was long overdue for sure. I never bought their records but I’ve heard plenty of their songs, though. Songs like “Time of the Season”, “She’s Not There”, “Tell Her No”, “This Will Be Our Year”, etc. Oh man, they wrote so many great masterpieces. To hell with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones… you wanna listen to real music, listen to the Zombies.

https://www.rockhall.com/2019-inductees/?fbclid=IwAR0csNV4wvjb49RUe0z28VUjneHEANHIXSyj6qXnkkOGH87M0-Zc2lYZoe0

Here’s a song in the videos below for each inductee… enjoy!

The Cure “Lovesong”

Def Leppard “Love Bites”

Janet Jackson “That’s the Love Goes”

Stevie Nicks “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around”

Radiohead “How to Disappear Completely”

Roxy Music “If There Is Something”

The Zombies “She’s Not There”

Today remembering three music legends: John Lennon, Dimebag Darrell and Jim Morrison…

John_Lennon.jpg

Dimebag.jpg

Jim Morrison.jpg

Dec. 8th is always an important day of the music industry. Why? It’s because this day is the Anniversary Deaths of John Lennon and Dimebag Darrell and the birthday of Jim Morrison.

John Lennon wasn’t my favorite Beatle but he was still a legend and we should never forget what happened to him. We should never forget what happened to Dimebag. We should never forget Jim Morrison either.

I always honor these guys every Dec. 8th and would keep doing it every year. They were very important to music. Always remember that.

Smashing Pumpkins new album “Shiny and Oh So Bright” only hits No. 54 on the Billboard 200… ouch… not so good…

Interesting. Ever since the so-called Smashing Pumpkins reunion has been announced, it has been the most over-hyped and most talked about reunion. After all this hype and a big tour, the new Smashing Pumpkins studio album flopped in the Billboard Charts only making it on 54 on the Top 200.

https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/11/smashing-pumpkins-reunion-album-54/

Damn. Not good.

Not surprising, though because it really does seem like people have lost interest in the Smashing Pumpkins. Why? I’m reading a lot that the band can’t fill up arenas and tickets aren’t selling well. I’ve read that Billy admitted that fans have left Pumpkins shows in the middle of their set. Now I’ve seen that their new record has bombed in sales.

Why is it that people are losing their interest in the Smashing Pumpkins? Well, I totally blame it on the Billy vs. D’arcy feud. That’s the big one. That little feud may have turned a lot of people away from the band. Billy Corgan’s ego may have turned a lot of people off. On top of that, another big reason why I think people no longer care about the band is ’cause they want D’arcy back in. I’ve said in the past before that it’s not a real Pumpkins reunion without the founding members that started it. D’arcy should have been in the band. If she was in it then maybe the tour and the new album would have been more successful?

I also believe that people are losing interest in the band is ’cause maybe the band are no longer good like they used to? I listened to the 8 new songs of the new album in youtube and I’ll be honest, I was disappointed in the new album. The new album didn’t thrill me at all so I probably won’t bother buying it.

Another reason the reunion tour is flopping like hell is probably ’cause the shows are too fucking long! The Smashing Pumpkins put on a huge tour and all of their shows on the tour are 3 hours or over. I can’t blame people for leaving the gigs ’cause they were probably getting tired and their ears were ringing badly. I also believe the new concerts are pretty gimmicky at best. I understand that Billy is all about art and theater like but all the costumes, the big screens, ridiculous stage lights and all that stuff are unnecessary.

Also, having Courtney Love special guesting on the tour probably turned people away. Courtney Love, seriously? I’ve seen the Courtney Love performance with the Pumpkins in youtube and she definitely looked like she was on drugs or something. She was performing horrible. She couldn’t sing for shit.

There’s too many reasons why the band is flopping in their tour and album… those are just some I can think of.

I love the Pumpkins, don’t get me wrong but the band has been disappointing me a lot as of late. The way they treated D’arcy pretty much did it to me. I still do support the band, though ’cause I still love their first three albums. Their first three albums: “Gish”, “Siamese Dream” and “Mellon Collie” are all classics. I always love those albums. I thought “Adore” was pretty good too, though.

It’s sad to see where the Pumpkins are right now. I don’t like it.
