Film Of The Day: Scarface (w/Al Pacino)

Time to do another favorite of mine. I love the movie, “Scarface”, the remake with Al Pacino, as Tony Montana. One of the baddest characters in cinema history. It’s also Brian Depalma’s best film. The story tells a man named, Tony Montana, who is being sent to the United States, after being one of the Cuban refugees after Fidel Castro opened the harbor in Mariel, Cuba. Tony and his friend, Manny worked regular day jobs and then they leave for criminal work. Later on, Tony takes over a drug cartel where he would get rich and make a living off of. Of course, while Tony is living the dream being rich, things go wrong.

This movie is full of hilarious catchphrases. Other than, “Say hello to my little friend”, Tony says way funnier stuff. Plus, the movie is badass. It’s a great action movie. Violent, nasty, and one of Pacino’s best roles. I’ll never get tired of this film. Ever.

Report: Universal finally moves forward with “Jurassic Park 4”, director is found…

Universal has been wanting “Jurassic Park 4”, to happen for a long while, but nothing has happened until now. “Jurassic Park III” was released in 2001, so it has been a long while for a new Jurassic Park film. A director by the name of Colin Trevorrow, is set to direct the fourth installment to, “Jurassic Park”. He is best known for directing the film, “Safety Not Guaranteed”. No plot details and no casting has been revealed as of this point.

Deadline, reports.

Okay, which leading character would return to this one? Will this film be written for Jeff Goldblum or Sam Neil to reprise their roles? Either way, one of them is expected to return for sure. Even better, I think both actors should appear on screen together for this one just like they did with the first one. It’ll be kind of cool to see those guys reunite finally ’cause Sam Neil wasn’t in “Jurassic Park 2”, Jeff Goldblum was. Sam Neil was in “Jurassic Park III”, Jeff Goldblum wasn’t.

With today’s technology in filming, you can expect them to take the Jurassic Park franchise to a whole new level. As for what I thought was the best Jurassic Park film was. I thought, “Jurassic Park III” was the best. I thought the first two weren’t that great, honestly, but the third one actually told a great story and it was a pretty thrilling movie too. I’m glad Spielberg is no longer directing these movies ’cause they seem to be good without him.

Spielberg seems to be staying away from family films lately ’cause he’s been doing too much historical drama stuff. Looking forward to seeing what they’re gonna do with Jurassic Park IV.

Film Of The Day: Mad Max (original, 1979)

Everyone loves a good revenge movie, but this is the best one. I love the original, “Mad Max”. It is also the best one of the trilogy. This is an apocalyptic and futuristic movie both at the same time. It tells the story about a cop who vows revenge on the biker gang who murdered his wife and son. Before the death of his wife and son, he was living a happy life, and when that was taken away from him, they gave him the name, Mad Max for a reason.

They don’t make action movies like this anymore. I love the young Mel Gibson too. He was really great back in those days! It really is a shame that Mel wants nothing to do with the Mad Max movies anymore, when Mel is still doing action movies to this day. I really think he has what it takes to play that character for one last time. I wish he would give it another shot. One of the coolest characters in action film. I love those old school action movies.

Cool Video: First Patrick Carney feuds with the Beliebers, now Olivia Wilde gets into it…

So let me get this straight. Any famous celebrity who calls out Justin Bieber for something, that makes them bad people? Patrick Carney is feuding with the Beliebers because of his thoughts on Justin at the Grammy’s, and now actress, Olivia Wilde is getting attacked by an army of Beliebers on twitter, only for telling Biebs to put a shirt on. I hate the Jay Leno show, but this segment in the video was actually pretty entertaining. Just like Patrick Carney seems to be entertained of Beliebers attacking him, Olivia seems to be enjoying this as well. Just like with Patrick, she’s also getting a lot of hateful comments by the Beliebers, but Olivia doesn’t retweet them all, though. It is interesting how the Beliebers get their panties in a bunch when someone wants to make an honest opinion about, Justin. That’s how “cliques” in the music world works. Their fanbase will “ALWAYS” stick up for their hero band or solo artist when they’re being disrespected.

I know that feeling ’cause when I give out an honest opinion on local bands in this area, their fanbase would attack me for it and it has happened before with a few big and established bands that should be nameless now but you’ll figure out who I’m referring to, soon enough. That’s why I don’t talk trash about local bands anymore. There are some local bands around here, that I still hate, but I keep those opinions to myself these days.

It’s all bullshit, I know, but fans are pretty loyal to their favorite band or artist, and they will have their back, no matter what happens.

Thought: Music should really be about pleasing yourself, and not other people…

I know I posted something like this before, but since I came across Amanda Palmer’s Ted Talk video today, I thought I would get this off my chest now.

All bands & musicians want to get discovered and get heard. I hear ya. I want to be discovered and get heard for my own music as well. There are plenty of bands & solo artists struggling to get heard and become established for their talent. All bands & artists expect to be super popular with their music, and they expect to please everyone with their tunes, but does music have to be that way? No! Absolutely NOT! I’ve been a struggling solo musician for years, and still am. I have a hard time being accepted as an actual musician and songwriter. A lot of people want to be critical, hateful, and opinionated about my music and my dreams. I’m sure a lot of them go through the same thing. You get all kinds of musicians trash talking you. Getting rejected by the clubs. Getting rejected by record labels. Not getting much support from actual music fans. Not getting much support from your own family and friends. All that stuff. You get the deal. I’m going through all that too.

I try my best to improve my talent and musicianship, so I can be accepted and welcomed in the music community, but after seeing Amanda Palmer’s video here, just made me look at music in a totally different way. She’s struggling through the music industry herself. Amanda Palmer (former Dresden Dolls singer), has been dealing with a lot of negative stuff with the labels, but that’s not stopping her from doing what she loves. Playing music in bands. So she starts her own kickstarter campaign which earned her over a million dollars to help finish her album with her current band she’s in. How did she get all that money? Just by asking people, and not demanding. Despite the negative stuff she’s going through, she keeps going with the music ’cause that’s what she loves to do.

It doesn’t matter how many people think she sucks musically or how many people dislike her. If music is your passion, you shouldn’t have to give it up for anything. It’s about what you want to do and not worry about anyone else. If music is what you like to do, fuck everybody, and just do it. If you want to be proud of your music and enjoy your own music, nothing wrong with that either. Bands & musicians shouldn’t listen to negative people.

Like always, I do music for me. It’s good to let the music speak on it’s own. It’s all up to the people if they want to support it or not. I want a lot of people to support my music, yes, but if it doesn’t happen at all, I’m all good and cool with it. Even if you’re a struggling musician and if your music is not for everyone, chances are, you WILL still have loyal fans and supporters. There will be people who will be kind enough to support you, every step of the way. I have a very small fan base (I think, anyway), and I’m fine with just a few supporters enjoying my music.

I also agree with Amanda, that more bands and artists should be giving away their music for free. I always saw that music should be a free market, and I’ve been saying that in these blogs for many years. I’ve always gave out my music for free. Why? Because, it shows, I was never into music for the money, and it’s a good marketing skill. I think unsigned and local bands are very delusional when they want to sell their music and make money off of it. A lot of bands are selling their albums at ridiculously high prices, somewhere around $10 – $15. Sure, I understand bands want the money back after all that money spent on studio time, but if you give your music out for free, people will respect you even more. Amanda gave her album with her band out for free ’cause it would be wrong if fans would have to pay for it again after they had to pay for your kickstarter campaign. With this being local and unsigned music, bands & musicians have the power to give out their music however they want to. Music doesn’t always have to be about the money. I was never about the money. I don’t do music for that. I do music for the love of writing songs, and playing on the stage. I don’t care to make as much fans and money as possible.

If you want your kickstarter campaign to work and be successful, asking, instead of demanding is the trick.

Thanks to the gorgeous Amanda Palmer for this powerful and inspirational speech. She just got a whole lot of respect from me. I’ll be following her stuff. Somebody introduced me this video in facebook after I complained about being a struggling musician, and she made me feel better!

Film Of The Day: West Side Story

I’m not into musical movies that much, but you can’t go wrong with the “West Side Story”. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Love this movie too much. It’s about two New York City gangs who feud against each other, the Jets and the Sharks (led by Bernardo). Riff is the leader of the Jets, and his best friend/former Jets member, Tony, falls in love with Bernardo’s younger sister, Maria. Tony and Maria meet together secretly while the two gangs continue to feud.

The story is pretty intense, and it’s a pretty sad film, though. Most importantly, the songs in the film make the movie fun. I do have this movie on DVD, but thinking about replacing it with the BluRay sometime in the future. It is a classic and it’s an important film that everyone should have seen by now. I’m sure you may have seen it once during your school years for music class or whatever. That is how I was first introduced to the film, I think. I remember I kept borrowing the VHS from my teacher, when I was a kid, ’cause I loved it too much. STILL love the movie to this day. If you have never seen this yet, then you have no right to call yourself a lover of movies and Hollywood, I’m sorry, folks. It is also important that you should introduce this film to your kids ’cause it is part of an educational thing. They show this movie in schools for a reason.

RIP to Natalie Wood too.

Finally, we get a John Cena-less RAW show last night…

Oh man, am I seeing my eyes correctly? There was no John Cena appearance on RAW last night at all!!! I’m sure he was there and backstage at the show, he just wasn’t used for WWE TV for some reason. Probably, because WWE was afraid that Cena might overshadow Paul Bearer’s night. I read that John Cena did appear on RAW, after the show went off the air, though, just to make the fans happy. Last night was proof that WWE can do good without John Cena being around. Last night’s RAW was actually a very good show, all the way through.

Last night’s opening segment, is going to be looked at as a classic years from now. Undertaker goes out to the ring to give a tribute to Paul Bearer, and of course, CM Punk interrupts to offer his condolences to his Wrestlemania streak, instead of Paul Bearer. It may have been harsh and disrespectful to get CM Punk involved in the Paul Bearer tribute, but truthfully, that’s what Paul Bearer himself would have wanted. Will Moody (Paul Bearer’s real name) would have wanted WWE to use his death in storylines. So they were doing that stuff in honor of him. Plus, it was to help give CM Punk even more heel heat and it worked. As long as Punk is pissing a lot of people off at the live shows and online, he did his job. That’s what heels are supposed to do. They’re supposed to anger and upset people, and Punk is the best at that.

I also loved the Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar segment too. There was a lot of heel heat in that. I’m also glad to see the Bella Twins back. While I hate most of today’s wrestling divas, I actually enjoy the Bella Twins. The Bella Twins have been gone for a long while. I wasn’t into this Fandango gimmick at first, but that guy grew on me. Fandango is a pretty funny character, and I’m looking forward to seeing what WWE is gonna do that character.

While RAW was a pretty good show last night, most importantly, it was all about the loss of Paul Bearer. Only thing I’m disappointed in that the crowd were terrible when it came to Paul Bearer. It seems kids in today’s generation no longer knows who the legends from the 80’s are anymore. The longtime wrestling fans like me, would know who these old guys are, but kids today would be confused. Undertaker got more of a cheer, than Paul Bearer did. I mean fuck, man. Paul Bearer wasn’t even a trending topic at all on twitter last night, and WWE tried their best to make the hashtag #PaulBearer, a trending topic but they failed.

My only negative of last night’s show of what they were doing with Kane. I was expecting Kane to be the monster, after Paul Bearer’s death. Kane return the scary monster as a way of mourning, Paul Bearer. He was the scary monster for a while, but until the end of the show, they did this stupid segment where Kane was stalking Halle Berry on the phone. I hate what WWE is doing with Kane. Turning him into a funny comedian ’cause of the PG rating, when Kane should be looked at as a scary monster. They should have never put the mask back on Kane. I thought he was better with it off.

Last night’s RAW was decent. See? They don’t need John Cena around, they can do fine without him. That was the surprise of the night, not seeing John Cena on TV.

Film Of The Day: Glengarry Glen Ross

Lets see here, we have Alec Baldwin, Al Pacino, Ed Harris, Jack Lemmon, Kevin Spacey, etc. This movie was, “The Expendables” of the 90’s. A movie full of iconic actors. This film tells a story about a group of salesmen, who were given a strong incentive by a man named Blake, to succeed in a sales contest. A set of prizes are given, and only closers will get the good sales leads.

This has always been one of my favorite flicks. I’ve watched this film too many times. Mainly because of Alec Baldwin’s performance as Blake, the villain of the film. Alec Baldwin has always been the best at playing asshole characters in films, why? Because I believe that’s what he is in real life. Of course, Jack Lemmon’s performance is golden in this film and so is Al Pacino. They’re all great!

This film may be a slow pacing movie, but it’s the dialogue in the script that will make you addicted to it. The movie is full of swearing and cuss words throughout the film, but the story is what’s important. This film is streamable for Netflix. If you don’t own the DVD/BluRay, watch it on Netflix. You won’t be disappointed!

Thought: I think this whole debate on the Judy Viger stripper party is so lame and ridiculously stupid…

A 33 year old local woman named, Judy Viger, was arrested for hosting a so called stripper party at a bowling alley for her 16 year old sons birthday. This debate blew up all over the internet and it even made the national news. After reading what a lot of people had to say about this story, I’m amazed at how uninformed, these people can be.

First of all, a lot of people are mistakenly calling these women, “strippers”. They are not “strippers”, they are “exotic dancers” and “entertainers”. Big difference. Secondly, they are also calling, this Tops N’ Bottom place a strip club, everyone is. That is also wrong. “Tops N’ Bottom”, is an entertainment company where they host parties for Bachelor Parties, Bacheloretes, bus parties, college parties, birthday parties, bikini grams, etc. Look it up.

Of course, angry parents out there are calling this woman a sick and evil woman for doing this. A lot of people are outraged over something that’s not that big of a deal and ridiculously stupid. They are debating over something worthless when there are better things to debate about.

Think about this…

Would you feel the same way if male exotic dancers were dancing half nude in front of your teenage daughters? I’m also positive that this isn’t the first time that teenage boys have been exposed to scantily clad women and porn. I mean, I was first introduced to hardcore porn and those girly magazines just about that age. Teenagers are just getting over with puberty around that time, and they want to experiment with women, and sexual things.

Sure, these kids were underage, but I think whatever the policy that “Tops N’ Bottom” had allowed this woman to have this kind of party, a certain law that allows her to do it. Maybe that company had something legal in there, that allows young teenagers to have these kind of parties. If they knew it was against the law, then they wouldn’t allow this woman to have this kind of party for those kids. The police agreeing to charge this woman, is just an opinion of law enforcement. That’s it. End of story.

Sure enough, the public will side with the law on these things.

Like I said in this blog once before a long time ago, in regarding to strip clubs, exotic dancing is VERY safe. Not dangerous at all. No penetration, and no actual sexual acts. Just a good time, that’s it.

It really bothers me why people have to have all kinds of hate and negativity toward strip clubs, and exotic dancing. They are just entertainment for men. That’s what they are there for. Everyone has their own way of entertaining themselves, and there is nothing wrong with entertaining themselves with the enjoyment of women. Nothing wrong with Gentlemen Clubs and exotic dancing. I find it a good form of entertainment.

With all this being said, I’m siding with this woman, Judy Viger. I think she’s innocent. She is innocent until proven guilty, but of course, in this day and age in America, it seems to be the other way around, as soon as someone gets arrested and it gets reported in the news, the whole public will think that person is guilty, no matter what. I’m interested in seeing how this story is going to end. It’s all up to the court to decide, if what she did was illegal or not. I don’t know much about laws regarding to exotic dancing, but I think she’s going to be safe on this one.

She just wanted her son to have a good time and enjoy himself. As long as they are in the supervision of the parent, it shouldn’t be a problem. On top of that, if this is considered an illegal act, than the bowling alley should be investigated into, not this woman. I find this charge pretty absurd, and it’s a huge waste of time, and tax dollars.

Fitness feedback…

That photo I posted in my facebook page, so far so good, nothing but positive feedback. I got a few thumbs up, and a few replied saying good job. Out of over 200 friends, only like 6 or 7 replied. That’s okay, though. Several replies is better than nothing. I’m sure everyone else liked what they saw, they’re just too shy to tell me “good job”, or like I said in a different post, jealousy is a small part of it. I’m not trying to sound like a megalomaniac, just being realistic and telling it like it is.

I know on the photo the lighting effects is not that great, but I did it on purpose, ’cause that lighting effect shows off that kind of muscle definition pretty clearly. Kind of like photography magic. I did take shirtless pics in the bright sun before, though.

Yeah, it is possible that you can get big and jacked, in a quick time. Just eat real good, work out hard, lift heavy, stay committed, don’t give up, and anybody can get that look. Anybody can look like Sly Stallone at any age, and that’s my goal. If he can get ripped and jacked like that at 60 years old, that’s how I want to look when I reach his age.

I still have a lot of learning to do in bodybuilding, though. This Spring/Summer, I plan to take things to a whole new level. Start working out 4 times a week, instead of 3. Do more sets & reps, instead of 3 – 12, and start lifting heavy. I want to do Strongman training, ’cause there’s a guy I know that does that stuff, lift everything heavy in the backyard. Flipping large tires, lifting cannon balls, dead lifting heavy things, etc. All that stuff. I was told that will get you big quick.

Bodybuilding is great. Glad I got into it. It’s all pretty easy and very safe to do.
