I'm a musician, singer/songwriter, blogger, writer, poet, bodybuilder, movie lover, music lover, video gamer, history/political buff, conservative/republican, etc. I like to do a lot of things.

When will Johnny Depp ever start a full time music career?

We all know that iconic actor, Johnny Depp, is a musician. He’s a guitar player and singer himself. We see Johnny on and off in the music industry. He mostly focuses on his full time movie career instead.

Will Johnny Depp ever come out with his first album? Maybe even tour? I’m sure he will at some point, but I would think he didn’t start a career in music yet ’cause he just does it for fun. Music is his second passion other than acting.

Maybe when Johnny retires from film, he’ll start a music career then. I’m sure he will release his first solo album someday, just give it time.

As you can tell, I’m very focused on trying to become a better guitar player, it is my dream to play great…

There are plenty of guitarists that are too lazy and not confident enough to learn new things on the guitar and improve their skills. If you’re stuck in a rut, tired of playing the same things all the time, then that’s a sign that you have a lot more learning to do. That’s how I felt. I’m very confident on trying to become a great player. Hopefully, someday impress the hell out of everyone with my guitar skills. I’m probably one of the very few guitarists that is dying to get there. I’m doing all I can. Studying, learning, reading, and practicing.

You don’t need to go to college to learn. You don’t need to hire another guitar teacher. You can still become a professional guitarist by learning it all on your own.

If some people believe that you don’t have the talent, you need to prove them wrong and get better. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing. Your talent might have mixed opinions as of now, but once you improve and start to play great, maybe, just maybe everyone will treat you with respect then.

This is one reason why I picked up on the songwriting again, ’cause it’s good practice to improve my guitar playing skills more, especially my soloing. I could use garageband just to create my own backing tracks to practice jamming with.

I’m more worried about my guitar playing, then my singing, although, I too am trying to get better at singing too.

Learning the guitar may seem boring, frustrating, but I don’t think so. I would have no problem trying to play a scale or a riff over and over again 100 times a day just to get it right. I’ve been practicing speed exercises so I can learn to play faster lead guitar. Trying to improve ear training and improv. Also trying to learn some theory stuff ’cause that’s important too. I’m trying to learn everything a musician is supposed to know so I can be called an actual, “musician”.

I’ve been trying to learn “Stairway to Heaven” again. I’ve been trying to get that song right for years. Been playing that song along with a metronome, by playing slow at first, and counting along with the rhythm as it shows on the tab. After I get the rhythm right, I’ll record myself playing it, so I learn the “Stairway” solo and record over it. Yeah, I’ll try to play the “Stairway” solo as you hear on the Led Zeppelin IV album. It might take me a couple of months to master but I’ll get it. I think I’ll start learning more Led Zep stuff and some of Page’s solos.

Making friends with other musicians… you don’t really have to… it’s all up to you…

I know I don’t have many friends in local music with other musicians. I only have very few that are buddies of mine, that I actually get along with more than anyone. I won’t name them. Those few musicians that are buddies of mine, are pretty much loyal fans of my music too. They stuck with me and supported me no matter what anybody else thought and no matter what happened. Those few musicians, are not best friends, just “buddies”, that’s it. I just talk to them online all the time mostly. If I wanted to hang out with them in person, I’d go see a show of theirs, or they would go see one of my gigs.

A lot of people mistakenly believe that you should make friends with other musicians as much as possible. It seems to be a big thing going on with local music. Musicians becoming friends with other musicians. They start hanging out with them outside of music and becoming more close.

A lot of people mistakenly believe that local music is all love-able, wonderful, and kind. Well, it’s not. Not all of it, anyway.

There are plenty of musicians out there you can’t trust. You can’t trust anybody in the music scene. I’ve made friends with musicians in the past, that I thought that was my friend but finding out they weren’t after all this time. I’ve made friends with the wrong musicians in the past over the years, that I shouldn’t have been friends with. Musicians are crazy, they will do anything to make you look bad publicly out of ego & jealousy. That’s it, really. A lot of musicians will drag you into this drama and negativity ’cause they will find it entertaining to their other friends and amuse themselves.

Things like this is why I wouldn’t be in a romantic relationship with another woman who is a musician. Having a musician girlfriend is much more dangerous than being friends with other musicians. I would much rather date a woman who is not a musician.

Do I regret being friends with the wrong musicians in the past? No. Not at all. It was good publicity for my music,  for the most part and I got some gigs out of them. So I don’t feel guilty about it at all.

If you want to be friends with musicians, you must make friends with the right people. You don’t need to be friendly with all musicians that you lay eyes upon ’cause there’s too many douchebags out there, trust me. You would  know that a musician is a true friend of yours, when he/she keeps in touch with you all the time.

Don’t get me wrong. I am nice and polite to all musicians, of course, I am approachable to talk to, but I don’t make friends with every musician I see. A friendship with another musician, just happens.

With that being said, I’m not worried about making too many friends around here. I’m all about living my own life and playing my own music. There are quite several musicians around here that will try to be friends with me. I appreciate that but truthfully I don’t do music to make friends with other musicians even though it’s a nice thing and well appreciated. I’m all about playing guitar and writing the songs, that’s it. That’s pretty much what I mostly care about.

If other musicians want to live in their own fantasy world being friends with other musicians as much as possible, be it. Not all musicians have to be that way and that’s my point.

“Last of the Mohicans” on Blu Ray…

Tonight, I just watched, “Last of the Mohicans” on Blu Ray. Starring Daniel Day Lewis and directed by Michael Mann. As usual the film still impresses me every time I watch it. It’s one of my favorite movies ever made, pretty high on my top 10. It’s actually my no. 1 favorite movie ever made, in fact. The film is just perfect and beautiful all around.

When it first came out in theater, I remember going for my high school field trip through history class. Part of learning about the French and Indian wars. Then I remember, seeing it in theater, three or four more times after that. The movie blew my mind back then, the movie still blows my mind to this day.

The picture and sound to this film on Blu Ray was pretty amazing as well. So the BluRay to this film was worth the purchase. No wonder BluRay is such a hot thing lately. This is why I want to start BluRay collection of my favorite movies only so I can feel the experience of good sound and picture of my favorite films.

What are my top 10 favorite films of all time? I know some of you may already know but for the new readers, sometimes the list changes as the newer films come out… here you are:

  1. The Last of the Mohicans
  2. Rocky (first one)
  3. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
  4. Raiders of the Lost Ark
  5. Citizen Kane
  6. Scarface (Al Pacino)
  7. The Godfather 1 and 2
  8. Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan
  9. Into the Wild
  10. Schindler’s List

I’ll try to get all those on Blu. I know Indiana Jones movies is not out on Blu Ray yet. It seems that Spielberg movies are always late on BluRays, not sure why.

Edit to add: I forgot to add, “The West Side Story”, to the list ’cause that’s one of my favorite movies as well.

A big congratulations go out to Brad and Angie! Wow!

I’m sure many are accusing this couple of doing this for attention. I’m sure they are getting sick of celebrity marriages being “news”. I’m sure people won’t care, but the reason this news is a big deal ’cause these two are a pretty hot thing in Hollywood. Both, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are iconic actors. They both have acting talent. Yes, both are really good actors. I like them both.

I’ve been watching Brad Pitt movies for years, and I’ve been watching Angelina films for years. So I’m a pretty big fan of both of them.

I’m not into news about celebrity couples too much but I had to post this one. People would accuse them of being together for money and ego, but I don’t think so. It looks like true love to me.

The reason they were so late on the engagement ’cause they were taking it slow. Mainly because it might affect both of their careers in film, that’s why. Plus, I’m sure they’re doing it for their adopted kids too.

I’ll treat them with respect and give them support. When people like us talk all kinds of hate about these two, it’s most likely jealousy for sure. People like us don’t have the lifestyle they have, so most of you sit on the computer bashing them.

Something to keep in mind guys, that Angelina’s entire life has been surrounded by Hollywood. She was pretty much born into Hollywood, with her father Jon Voight, being a longtime actor himself. Her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, was an actress too but she died in 2007. With that being said, Angelina’s life revolved around Hollywood as explained earlier.

Angelina’s been in relationships with various actors over the years such as Johnny Miller and most notably, Billy Bob Thornton. She also had a brief lesbian relationship with an actress from her film, “Foxfire”.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that she is going to marry a big name actor, and it ended up being Brad Pitt. They met on the set of, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”. It is definitely true love for sure, and I can tell. Evidence of that, both Brad and Angie have been staying away from acting a lot more often. There were rumors on Brad retiring soon to focus on producing so he can stay with his family a lot more often. Both of them are rich people from their earlier career, so they don’t need to work so much anymore.

Congrats to them. Celebrity marriages usually don’t last a long time, but I see this one lasting forever. They seem really in love with each other. It’s definitely not fake for sure.

Report: Duff and Izzy speak out on the Hall of Fame Induction…

After Axl Rose wrote a letter to the Hall of Fame, announcing that he wants no part of it, other Guns N’ Roses members are starting to speak out. I just think that the other members want to show the Hall of Fame that they still have heart for the induction.

Duff McKagan responds to Axl’s letter saying that Axl backing out is okay with him. He said the induction is all about the songs. Celebrating the music of Gn’R. Read Duff’s thoughts, here.

Also, Izzy Stradlin one of the guitarists of Gn’R, released a positive statement, saying that he’s all for it, even though he didn’t say anything about Axl or his letter against the HOF, read it, here.

While, I’m sure everyone thinks that the induction is for the original members of Guns N’ Roses, I believe the induction is made for all members of the band over the years. The band went through so many members. Even Buckethead was a brief member, so I wonder if he’ll be part of the induction? As long as he was a member of the band, probably.

BREAKING NEWS: Kurt Angle will NOT make the London Olympics due to serious knee injury during training…

For a long while now, Kurt Angle has been trying to make a big comeback to amateur wrestling for the Olympics, this year in London. In 1996, Kurt won a gold medal even though he had an injured neck (fracturing two of his cervical vertebrae, herniating two discs, and pulling four muscles), but he won the bout anyway against, Abbas Jadidi, an Iranian wrestler.

Kurt’s been trying really hard to make the Olympics again, but now his dream of an Olympics comeback looks to be over. During training sessions, he tore an MCL in his right knee and tore his right hamstring muscle. He was going to try out for the Team Trials in Iowa, in hopes of making the London Olympics, but he decided to pull out. The injuries look serious.

More on the story, here.

Well, after years of Kurt working for professional wrestling companies like WWE and TNA, and when you’re getting older, your body can’t take it anymore. Amateur wrestling is real wrestling. Not fake wrestling like you see in entertainment. Even though entertainment wrestling is fake, you still have to be physical and yes, it’s still a “sport”, in professional wrestling, no matter what you think of it.

While I feel bad for Kurt, this was expected to happen, so I’m not surprised at all. He shouldn’t have worked for TNA after all these years and put his focus on the Olympics instead. His years of working in the professional wrestling industry is what put his Olympics dream to an end.

It would be cool to see Kurt make it in the Olympics and see him win another medal. He should have seen this coming.

Starting a Blu Ray collection…

As some of you may notice by now, DVD sales are getting lower and lower since Blu Ray is a hot thing going these days. The more you look at your video stores, you’re starting to see less DVDs on the shelves, and Blu Ray shelves are getting bigger & bigger at various stores.

While, I’m planning on starting a Blu Ray collection, I’m only going to buy movies on Blu Ray that are my favorite films. The films that I love. Yesterday, I just picked up, “The Last of the Mohicans” and “Scarface” with Al Pacino on Blu, which those two are my favorite movies of all time. Those two films are in my top ten.

I won’t replace my entire DVD collection to BluRay, only the movies that I love the most! I would like to watch my favorite movies on BluRay with better picture and sound. I’ll just buy the movies on BluRay and sell the DVD versions.

I’m thinking about getting rid of some movies in my DVD collection anyway. Get rid of movies that I don’t care for anymore and just shorten my collection a bit.

In the photos and videoblogs, you would notice in the background that I do have a big collection of DVD’s. I only have a small BluRay collection but looking to build it up soon, but planning to get rid of some DVDS, so my collection won’t get so big.

I just love keeping a library of movies. I’m a movie buff and love Hollywood. So I don’t feel guilty owning a big movie collection. You can only live once, so get all the good stuff while you’re still living, ya know?

It’s what I like to do as a hobby and a passion. I need to be inspired and be entertained.

Sometimes it’s okay to be a bit of an egomaniac and an asshole in music…it can be worth it, trust me…

A lot of people mistakenly think it’s wrong to be an egomaniac and a bit of an asshole in music. I’ve been called both by a lot of people over the years. I’ll have to admit, that yes, I can be a bit of an egomaniac and an asshole. Do I feel bad for being that way? No, not at all.

Sometimes you need to be that way in music if you want to get success in music or get yourself heard. You need to be that way, to get yourself noticed. Do whatever it takes.

For example, in Johnny Ramone’s book, “Commando”, he had to be an egomaniac and an asshole if he wanted the Ramones to be at their best ever. Look where they are now? They’re legends. Having an ego and a bad attitude doesn’t always end a career for a musician. It can help make them bigger and more successful if you want to be a perfectionist with your music.

I have to be that way in this blog, to keep my readers interested, ’cause if I was all nice, lovable and kind, then nobody would care what I would have to say on here.

You have to be brutally honest and real about things, if you want to make it somewhere. This is why I am what I am, in this blog. While some people will find the way you are offensive and may think you shouldn’t be like that, there will be others who will admire the way you are ’cause of your honesty. Some people will respect you because you have the balls to say what you want.

While I still go on negative and harsh rants to this day, I learned in the past to leave names out of things. I won’t change who I am. If you meet me in person, you’ll still see me being an honest and real person ’cause that’s who I am.

Whatever your dreams and goals are in life, sometimes you have to be a bit of a prick to get there. It might piss some people off, but it’s worth it sometimes going through all that negativity and drama.

Whether it’s recording in the studio, at live gigs, whatever it is in your career dreams, don’t be afraid to be a prick sometimes, if you want to become a successful musician. Sometimes it takes anger and frustration, to get what you want. Sometimes you need to act like you’re better than everyone else, to make your dreams come true.

You shouldn’t have to change your personality if other people don’t like the way you act. Just be yourself in music and be human. It’s better that way.

Drinking, smoking weed, and other drugs do not mix with music, sorry…

A lot of bands & musicians mistakenly think it’s cool to be hard party’ers. Some mistakenly think getting drunk or really high will make you play better music or better live show performances. Sorry to say this but being a hard party’er is not cool in the world of music. Some bands would get drunk, wasted or high or both before the shows or after. They would even get drunk or stoned or both at band practices as well. This too can be a big career destroyer.

A lot of famous bands over the years have gotten into a lot of trouble with the drinking and the drugs. Many careers have ended because of it, and many musicians have died of it too. There are famous bands & musicians today that don’t even drink or do drugs anymore. Like James Hetfield of Metallica and Zakk Wylde, those guys were alcoholics and they sobered up.

In my opinion, drinking and doing drugs doesn’t make you a good musician. If you clean yourself up with the drugs & get sobered up with the alcohol, you could be a more focused musician. Cutting out the hard partying completely, will make you an even better player.

Bands mistakenly think you need to have fun by drinking and doing drugs just to put on a good time with music. Not true. You can still have a blast of a time by not doing that shit at all. I gave up the drinking. I used to be an occasional drinker. When I did go out drinking, I used to get drunk until I got myself puking. I don’t do it anymore though.

It maybe a free country but think how this could make you a better person and better musician if you give up the hard partying. People spend too much money on drugs and alcohol, it’s crazy.

I don’t party as much as I used to anymore. It’s stupid. I can still have a fun time playing music or listening to other bands without drinking or smoking weed. I get easily bored of partying ’cause other people want to act all stupid and weird when they’re fucked up. I would rather stay home, playing my guitar, watching movies, reading books or playing video games. Doing that stuff is way better than messing up the inside of your body.

I’m sick of the posts in facebook by bands and music fans, saying they’re gonna go to this show to get themselves wasted. Music does not always have to revolve around alcohol. Oh that reminds me, when I get a band someday, I’ll make sure the other musicians don’t do drugs or alcohol either. Maybe a few drinks is okay but as long as they won’t be alcoholics.

People need to grow up when it comes to partying ’cause they act like high school teenagers. I don’t drink at all anymore and proud of it too! Had to give it up because it’s not good for bodybuilding.
