This Day In Music: 2/9/12

– In 1961: The Beatles appeared at The Cavern Club, Liverpool, for the very first time (as The Beatles), they would go on to make a total of 292 other appearances at the Club.

– In 1972: Paul McCartney’s Wings played the first night of a UK College tour in Nottingham. The group arrived unannounced asking social secretaries if they would like them to perform that evening. The band’s intended first stop on the tour, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, refused to allow them to play so they drove on to Nottingham. Admission was 40p, British pub rock band Brinsley Schwarz was the opening act for the tour.

– In 1981: American singer Bill Haley was found dead, fully clothed on his bed at his home in Harlington, Texas from a heart attack, Haley had sold over 60 million records during his career. Scored the 1955 UK & US No.1 single ‘Rock Around The Clock’, and became known as the first Rock ‘n’ Roll star. Haley was blinded in his left eye as a child due to a botched operation and later adopted his distinctive spit-curl hairstyle to distract attention from his blind eye.

– In 1985: Madonna started a three-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Like A Virgin’, a No.3 hit in the UK.

– In 1990: Nirvana set out on a short west coast tour opening for Dinosaur Jr. at the Pine Street Theater, Portland, Oregon.

Report: Arnold and Sly, confirmed to star in “The Tomb”…

After, “The Expendables”, you can expect Arnold and Sly, two of the biggest action movie icons, to star in more movies together. Summit Entertainment, confirms Arnold and Sly will both star the leading roles in a film called, “The Tomb”. Sly will play a man who designed a high-tech prison that is escape proof. Sly’s character is set up and sent in the same prison he just built. Arnold plays a fellow inmate a complex guy whose tough exterior hides the reality he’s an okay guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity.

Deadline, reports.

Why didn’t Arnold and Sly star in movies together in the past before? I remember Sly saying in the AICN Q&A’s he did with them, that it had something to do with ego’s. He was afraid of the huge egos getting in the way with each other or something like that, since they are both iconic stars. They probably finally realized, that won’t be a problem, so they agreed to start doing movies together after all these years. I agree, they should’ve starred in movies a long time ago, though. It’s been a long time coming for them.

Report: Sharon Osbourne fired Bill Ward from Sabbath? That’s what really happened?

MetalTalk.net, was the first to bring up the news that Sharon Osborne was responsible for firing Bill Ward from, Black Sabbath. I call it a bullshit rumor for now. Everyone loves to blame it on Sharon, but it doesn’t make any sense that Sharon would fire members from, Black Sabbath. I mean, the only person who makes the decisions on who stays and who goes in the band is none other than, Tony Iommi. Tony does the hiring and firing. Not Sharon. Tony owns the band and has complete control.

Everyone likes to assume that Sharon has complete control. No, Sharon has nothing to do with Sabbath. She’s only in charge of Ozzy’s solo career.

Yep, once something bad happens in Sabbath, all the tabloids on the internet will start making shit up. Don’t believe everything you read.

More on the story, here.

Cool Video: “The Bourne Legacy” trailer is finally here!!!!

While it is a damn shame that Matt Damon no longer wants to do this movie, I’m still pretty impressed with “The Bourne Legacy” trailer. Jeremy Renner isn’t a replacement. He’s not playing Jason Bourne. Jeremy’s playing a different character. This still looks like a good action flick, and I’m probably gonna go see it. Looks good. See it, here.

Rick Santorum, victorious last night!

I had my eyes glued to the TV all evening last night. I was watching the GOP election for the three states they were doing last night, all evening. It was pretty amazing. Rick was kicking ass last night and I hope he keeps at it if he wants to get ahead of Romney.

Right now, Romney has 106 total delegates. Rick is in third place now with 34 total delegates. Rick would now need a little over 70 delegates if he wants to beat Romney. If Rick wants to beat Romney and get ahead of him, it might take Rick several more states to do it.

Saturday will be the Maine caucus, and I’ll be watching that this weekend as well to see if Rick wins Maine.

Check out the results so far, here.

People are starting to slam me in facebook for my choice of President for Rick Santorum, but oh well. I don’t care what the haters say. I’m rooting for Rick no matter what anybody says. I just think he’s the best guy out of the 4 candidates. I’m very impressed with him and I like the way he thinks.

Rick Santorum would make a great president. If he’s elected, the economy will get better and we’ll get more jobs. Plus, there will be less violence and terrorism in this country and we could live better lives.

GO RICK!!!

This Day In Music: 2/8/12

Musician Birthdays: Vince Neil (lead singer of Motley Crue, famous for hits “Girls, Girls, Girls” and “Dr. Feelgood”, born in 1961)

– In 1964: On their first full day in New York, The Beatles (minus George who had a sore throat), went for a photo-opportunity walk around Central Park. Over 400 girl fans followed The Beatles and extra police were called in to control them. Later in the day The Ronettes interviewed The Beatles for radio.

– In 1975: Bob Dylan went to No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Blood On The Tracks’ his second US No.1 album.

– In 1992: UK act Right Said Fred started a three-week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘I’m Too Sexy’, a No.2 hit in the UK.

– In 1994: Oasis were forced to cancel their first foreign tour after they were deported from Holland. The band were involved in a drunken brawl on a cross-channel ferry resulting in members of the band being arrested and locked in the brig on the ferry.

– In 2009: R&B singer Chris Brown was questioned by police in Los Angeles over a complaint of assault. The 19-year-old had pulled out of his performance at the Grammy Awards, as did his pop star girlfriend Rihanna. Police said Mr Brown argued with an unidentified woman while sitting in a car. Brown had walked into a police station and was later released on $50,000 (£34,000) bail. Los Angeles police did not identify the woman who had made the complaint against Brown.

Rick Santorum is on FIRE tonight!!! GO RICK!!! 2012!!!!

See? What I tell ya all? I just knew Rick was going to start kicking ass soon and I was right! Rick is on fire tonight for the Caucus for the three states in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado. Santorum is in the lead for Missouri and Minnesota, but the Colorado results aren’t in yet. I think he’s going to kick ass in Colorado too.

RICK SANTORUM 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See, I told you before, Rick has a chance to win the GOP. He’s going to get it! 🙂

This week, I will soon be a proud ex-Mormon!! WOOT!

About several years ago, I joined the Mormon religion. Baptized and all that stuff. I joined the religion, hoping to become a better person and thought it would help me do good things in life. I now think that joining the Mormon religion, the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints was the biggest mistake of my life. I find this whole religion thing a bunch of phony stuff. Not what I want to be doing in life and who I want to be. I don’t want to see myself as a religious person. I can be a happy and better person by not being in a religion at all.

The president of the Mormon Church in Greenwich came to my house today, telling me that he’s going to take my name off the Mormon records. After that, I am officially no longer a Mormon. I think the whole religion is a big cult. I don’t agree with their rules and don’t enjoy the “Book of Mormon” scriptures.

After my name is off the Mormon records, I can live my life in peace without Mormon people coming to my house unannounced. I’m real sick of the Missionaries and I finally found a way to quit the religion, by sending a letter to the records Church in Utah.

I’m pretty happy about this. Wish I did this a long time ago!

Report: Metallica announces, “Orion Festival & More”…

Metallica have been teasing a big announcement well the band themselves revealed it today during a live webcast. They just announced their own festival called, “Orion Festival & More” which will take place on June 23 & 24th in Atlantic City, N.J. Ticket pricing will be $125 for two day pass, MetClubUltraPass for the good stuff will be $225.

See the band line-up for the Festival, here.

The band said it’s not just a metal festival, they want to have all genres of music as you can see. This is Metallica’s own festival.

Ozzy has his own music festival with Ozzfest. Dave Mustaine has his own festival with, Gigantour. Now it’s Metallica time to have their own festival.

While I love Metallica, I would have to be honest and say that this is big news? It’s disappointing. I kept thinking they were going to make their “3D” movie that they’ve been planning official, but nope.

I also think the ticket pricing are a bit overpriced. Dave Mustaine’s Gigantour tickets weren’t that high. Dave always kept the Gigantour pricing pretty affordable.

I’m predicting Metallica’s festival will probably bomb.

My Perfect Valentine???

I appreciate most Holidays, but like most people, Valentine’s Day is one that I absolutely hate. Probably the same reason just like everyone else, hating to see myself single on that day.

With that being said, the single life is not so bad. I actually love living the single life. It’s actually great. You don’t have to deal with spending hours talking on the phone with your woman everyday, you don’t have to deal with any bullshit and drama that’ll end the relationship, all that stuff.

I will get myself a nice girlfriend someday. I’m just not rushing that either. I won’t get into any details about my personal life, but I can give you an idea of the kind of woman that I would want to have later in this blog post.

I’m just amazed on how so many people out there who can’t stay single. After breaking up or getting divorced with their loved ones, the next week after, they hook up with somebody new. People work fast in relationships. I’m like seriously? People hate being alone that much? Seeing all that in facebook is kind of crazy.

I’m actually pretty proud being a loner, ’cause I admit, sometimes I hate people in general. I’m learning that people can sometimes have bad socializing skills, you can’t trust anybody, and people can be weird sometimes. I guess I am a bit anti-social, but not that bad. All I want to do is play my guitar and workout in the gym. That is my love and companion.

As far as my dream girl goes, I just want her to share my passion for music and movies. So we can go see live music and go to the movies together, all the time. Somebody who doesn’t mind me talking about that stuff a lot. It’s better having the same passions and having lots in common, so she can be easier to get along with. She doesn’t have to be a fitness lady, but it could be a plus. She also must not smoke & drink. I also would like somebody who would respect me the person that I am. Somebody’s who’s just nice and friendly. Someone who is not a “user” and is not into drama. Age doesn’t make a difference to me either, she can be a little younger or a little older (just not too old, lol). Somebody who won’t use you for money or any of that stuff. She also doesn’t have to be hot or beautiful, but it would be kind of cool.

I’ll get somebody at some point. It’ll happen, when a relationship wants to happen, I guess. No matter what you think of someone, there is someone for everyone. No matter who they are or what they look like.

I realize I better get somebody soon before I get any older.
