Report: Reed Hastings speaks out on price raise of Netflix, also unveils Qwikster…

Reed Hastings, the head honcho of “Netflix” finally speaks out about the backlash of the price raise. He says the reason they did this because they are starting to realize that streaming and DVD are both becoming two different businesses. They needed to let both grow and market differently & separately. They feel the businesses need to evolve and improve.

He also unveils the Netflix DVD rental section will be re-named to, “Qwikster”. It will be the same site, you can still select all of your DVD’s and put ’em in your que’s, but different site name.

Reed also announced the surprising news, that Netflix will have a video game section in there. Soon you will be able to rent games from PS3, Xbox360, and Nintendo Wii which will be really cool.

Read, Reed Hastings, full explanation, here.

No matter what people think of Netflix’s decision, I’m still sticking with them. Yep, both streaming and DVD. The price raise is not that big of a deal. They are a business, they need to do what they need to do. Businesses change, shit happens. Have any of you out there ever owned a business? Yes, I’m sure you’ve had. All businesses want to change and evolve, the same with Netflix.

People need to relax over this.

I’m sticking with Netflix because there are a lot of TV shows on there I want to see that I have never seen before and that’s one of the reasons I joined Netflix to begin with. Plus, I like to watch movies on there too, of course. I joined their DVD rentals for the new releases.

I don’t really watch regular cable TV too much, but I’ll watch a lot of Netflix at night. The show I’m currently watching now is Kiefer Sutherland’s “24”. When I finish this show, I’m thinking of either checking out “Heroes” or “Sons of Anarchy”, not sure yet. Netflix is great, screw the haters.

Film Review: Warrior

Starring: Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, Nick Nolte, Kurt Angle

Directed by: Gavin O’ Connor

Today, I decided to go to the mall to check out the movie, “Warrior”. Here is my review…

Plot/Synopsis: Ex-Marine, Tommy Conlon (Hardy) returns home to Pittsburgh, from serving the country, and he enlists his father (Nolte) to help train him for a big MMA tournament where the winner gets $5,000,000. However, Tommy, and his father don’t get along because his father is a recovering alcoholic and their family is about to fall apart.

While Tommy focuses on getting into fighting, his brother, Brendan Conlon (Edgerton), is a school teacher and he’s in a financial ruin with his family. Brendan wants back into fighting so he can have the money to care for his family who is also about to fall apart. The two Conlon brothers must go face to face in the tournament to fight for the prize of a lifetime.

If you like sports films and if you’re a fan of MMA/UFC, then you’re definitely going to love this movie. Also, this movie isn’t just for sports and MMA fans. This movie can be enjoyed by everyone. This movie is more than just about MMA and cage fighting. It can be about family life and things that can happen for real. This film wants to give you insight on what it’s like being an MMA fighter. Some may think the MMA lifestyle is easy and fun, but this film wants to show you it can be difficult. Families can fall apart because of your fighting lifestyle and your life can get ruined very quickly as well, just like that. This film also wants to show you that fighting can bring out the positive things about your life as well.

This is a perfect film over all. It was very intelligently written. The acting of the cast was phenomenal. Especially Nick Nolte who I was most impressed with. I think Nick Nolte deserves the Oscar nod for Best Supporting actor for this role and I have a feeling he might get one. His acting was very powerful in this movie.

This film has so much different emotions. It can be sad at times, there are scenes where it makes you pissed off, and the fighting scenes just make you want to jump up and cheer. The fighting scenes were great. I was even impressed with Kurt Angle, who is an Olympic gold medalist wrestler, and former WWE star/current TNA star. Kurt Angle didn’t talk at all in the movie. Kurt Angle plays one of the fighters who Tom Hardy fights in the movie.

I was completely blown away and in awe about this film. This film is definitely 10x’s better than, “The Fighter”, starring Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg. “Warrior” is even better than “The Wrestler” starring Mickey Rourke. I’d say “Warrior” is the best sports movie since the Rocky series.

I must warn you though, that “Warrior” didn’t have a lot of fighting in this movie and there’s a good reason for that too. Like I said before, it wanted to show you the life of a fighter outside of a cage. I think that’s the whole point of this movie. Real life MMA fighters like in Strikeforce and UFC, live their lives the similar way it is shown in this movie. All they do is train, fight, and live their lives with their families. Fighters are just normal people like us. It’s what they do for a living because that’s all they have. A lot of fighters can’t get jobs and have a hard time making money to survive, so they fight in a cage to survive.

This movie is very inspiring and I would definitely say this is the best movie of 2011 so far. Whether you’re into MMA or not, you gotta check this movie out. You’ll understand this sport better, when you do.

Score for “Warrior” (**** “4 stars” as in “excellent”)

Thought: Steven Seagal for “The Expendables” sequel???

When the “Expendables” film franchise is being discussed in movie forums and blogs, Steven Seagal’s name is always brought up. A lot of fans of these movies, want Seagal to join the cast.

I might of posted about this before a long time ago but I think I’ll post it again. I agree it would be cool as hell if Seagal would join the Expendables cast, but it’s NEVER going to happen anytime soon. Why?

Because Avi Lerner and Seagal don’t get along. They hate each other, I think. They had a fallen out over some movie deal a few years back. Do your research and google it yourself. Seagal vowed to never work with Lerner again. “The Expendables” franchise is being produced by Millennium studios which is owned/founded by, Lerner. If the “Expendables” was being made through a different movie company, then yes, I’m sure Seagal would be on board then, but as long as Avi Lerner is working with them, no chance.

Sly even tried to get Seagal for the first movie but he failed. Seagal must patch things up and bury the hatchet with Lerner, if they ever want to work together again, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. Their feud is pretty heated and not very nice.

It is interesting how Seagal’s name keeps coming up when it comes to, “The Expendables”. I’m sure he respects Sly as an actor, Seagal has no bad blood against Sly at all, it’s Avi Lerner he doesn’t like. I’m sure Seagal wants to be a part of these movies, but he can’t.

I like Steven Seagal movies, the earlier ones. He was a good action hero back in the day.

JJ Abrams has finally signed on to direct, the sequel to 2009’s, “Star Trek”. The main cast are all set to reprise their roles. The plot have not been revealed yet, but Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, are returning to write the script as well.

More on the story, here.

Hopefully, a young Khan will be the villain for the next one. I’m also hoping William Shatner will return as Captain Kirk for this one, if possible.

I’m looking forward to the sequel. Hope it will be better than the first.

Not A Cool Video: Good god, “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” looks horrible!!!

Well, it’s official, I now hate the Twilight franchise. I’m not jumping the Twilight hate bandwagon, but the new “Breaking Dawn” trailer hit the web today and it doesn’t look good. I can now understand why a lot of people hate the Twilight franchise.

I used to enjoy the series, but not anymore. I think I’m getting a bit too old to be enjoying stuff like this, anyway.

See the trailer, here.

BREAKING NEWS: Sly Stallone, the man himself, finally confirms JCVD and Chuck Norris are in, “The Expendables”, sequel!!!!

For a long while now, it’s been long rumored that Jean Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris could possibly star, in “The Expendables” sequel. Well, Sly Stallone the man himself, confirms to “Entertainment Weekly”, that the two action stars are indeed in the film.

Chuck Norris, has been on a Hollywood hiatus lately, as he hasn’t done anything since his direct to video movie, “The Cutter“, in 2005.

Sly reveals that he’s in a major fight scene with Jean Claude in, “The Expendables”, so this means, Jean Claude is a bad guy? That’s what it’s sounding like!!!

Sly also adds that Nicolas Cage, and John Travolta also has roles, possibly.

Nice! Hope this movie will be much better than the first one. What UFC and WWE stars will they get for this movie? It wouldn’t surprise me if they go after Dwayne Johnson or Triple H. I would rather see Triple H in this movie, than Dwayne though. I can definitely see Triple H in the Expendables group.

Report: Sean Penn and Clive Owen were originally considered for Jor-El for “Man of Steel”…

Before Russell Crowe was hired to play Jor-El, Supes father, for Zack Snyder’s, “Man of Steel”, film, Russell really wasn’t the original choice to play the character. The Hollywood Reporter, reveals that, Sean Penn, and, Clive Owen, were originally considered, but they must of turned the role down.

Read more, here.

Interesting choices! I can see why Sean would turn it down because superhero movies probably was never his thing. I can definitely see Sean playing the part though. Clive Owen’s a good actor too.

I’m sure Russell will do a good job. I hope Warner Bros. will release a pic so they can show us all what Russell looks like as, Jor-El.

Thought: More on Mel Gibson…

Mel Gibson maybe one crazy guy. He maybe a guy with personal problems, and he may have a bad temper, and all that, but you can’t deny that he’s a talented film maker when it comes to making his own movies. I loved his own movies that he did, ” The Man Without a Face”, “Braveheart”, “The Passion” and “Apocalypto” were all phenomenal movies. When he does that film on Judah Maccabee, I’m sure he’ll make it very violent, disturbing and gory.

I think it’ll be an interesting story, so I’ll give him a chance.

BREAKING NEWS: Mel Gibson to produce a movie about the Judah Maccabe story???

A troubled Mel Gibson could return to work as a producer this time around. Mel Gibson and writer, Joe Eszterhas, will team up to make a movie about, Judas Maccabeus. Warner Bros. will bring us the film. They at first, wanted Mel to direct this movie but I guess he wanted to be producer instead.

Deadline, reports.

I can see why this is controversial, since Mel’s 2006 anti-semitic rant, when he blamed the Jews for all the wars in the world, but I think that’s why Warner Bros. gave him this job to begin with. That news was pretty huge in the media, controversy can be good sometimes.

It seems that Mel has been staying away from directing movies as of late. I guess directing is too overwhelming for him so he decided to be an actor in other films and produce this movie.

Report: Michael Shannon confirms he’s in the mo-cap suit, mo-cap is also General Zod in CGI…

Ever since the Behind the Scenes pics of Snyder’s “Man of Steel” began surfacing the web, there is this mysterious guy in a mo-cap costume. The internet has been debating on trying to figure out who or what that mo-cap thing is. Well, the mo-cap mystery has finally been solved.

The guy in the mo-cap on the left, is indeed Michael Shannon. He also confirms that General Zod will be a CGI character.

More on it, here.

I kinda had a feeling it was Michael Shannon to begin with. So is Zod going to be a giant this time around?
