Saw “The Lone Ranger” last night and here is a brief review…

So I finally saw Disney’s, “The Lone Ranger” last night w/ Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp. I never saw this film in theater ’cause I was skeptical of it. So I waited for DVD rental on it. I rented it through Netflix. I wanted to see the new, “Lone Ranger” flick ’cause I used to be a huge fan of the original TV show when I was a kid. Used to watch the show a lot.

After seeing the film last night… I was very surprised. The film was actually pretty good. Not as bad as the critics made it out to be. The film was watchable and very entertaining all the way through. Told a good story, and acting was good. It was a nice homage/tribute to the Lone Ranger legacy which is the whole point of the film. It was faithful to the Lone Ranger.

My only disappointment is Johnny Depp playing Tonto, the Indian. I don’t agree with Johnny playing an Indian. Tonto should have been played by an Indian actor, not an America. That’s the only part of the movie that didn’t make any sense to me but other than that, the movie was fine. I didn’t get bored watching this one.

The script was good and the action was a blast. This is an introduction to the John Reid and Lone Ranger story. I’m glad Disney made this movie ’cause in today’s generation, not a lot of people know who the Lone Ranger is. That character deserves to get known again. I know the Lone Ranger first made it’s debut on radio back in the 1930’s, though.

This was surprisingly a good film. You should definitely check this one out for sure.

Jessie Eisenberg is the new Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons is the new Alfred for “Batman vs. Superman”…

So the big news today in the movie world is that Warner Bros. has found actors to play Lex Luthor and Alfred for the “Batman vs. Superman” film. Jesse Eisenberg who is most-famous for roles like, “Zombieland” and “The Social Network” is the new Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons who is most-famous as the leading villain for the film, “Die Hard With a Vengeance” is the new Alfred Pennyworth.

Sure enough, there are mixed opinions from movie fans about this casting. I’m noticing that people have no problem with Jeremy Irons as the new Alfred and I agree that’s a good choice but everyone has a problem with Jesse Eisenberg playing the new Lex.

Everybody’s complaining that Jesse is too young to playing Lex. I agree that Jesse is young. He’s like 30. Maybe they just want to go for a younger Lex this time around? In the “Man of Steel” film, they changed all the characters. In the first movie, the casting choices sparked some controversy especially the black Perry White who is played by Laurence Fishburne. When the movie came out… people had no problem with the casting and got positive responses.

I see Zack is doing the same thing with “Batman vs. Superman”. Making changes with the characters again. The reason they have to do this is this is Zack’s way of staying away from the Richard Donner/Christopher Reeve films. Maybe they felt that an old Lex Luthor has been done to death so they’re gonna go for a younger Lex which is a good idea.

People are saying hateful things about Jesse playing Lex. People are already going, “uggghhh, this movie officially sucks”.

Do people have to be so opinionated and hateful this soon? I wouldn’t judge this early. I’m not saying whether or not Jesse’s a good choice but who knows, maybe he DOES have what it takes to play Lex. Maybe Jesse does have what it takes to be menacing and evil. I’m gonna wait ’til I see a trailer or something and then I’ll make my opinion on whether Jesse is a good choice or not.

People are quick at judging ’cause that’s the way the internet works. Popular opinion have always been a huge problem online.

I’m willing to give this a chance. I respect and have faith in Zack Snyder ’cause he’s clearly not afraid to go for what he wants for his films, not caring what the public thinks. He just gives what’s right for the film and that’s all I can say.

I’m not into romantic movies that much but “The Fault In Our Stars” looks great!!!

Like the title says, I’m not into romantic movies too much. A few of my favorite romantic movies has always been: “Sleepless In Seattle”, “When Harry Met Sally”, and “Casablanca”. Don’t get me started on “Titanic” and “The Notebook” as I think those two flicks are overrated as hell.

Back to the “Fault In Our Stars”, I’m probably gonna see this one. I like the idea of a teenage guy falling in love with a girl with cancer. Plus, the story looks pretty moving and sad. I might have to read the book before I see the movie, though.

In response to Quentin Tarantino leaked script controversy…

Well, I’m sure you’re wondering my thoughts on this whole Quentin Tarantino leaked script controversy that’s been all over the news well here it is. To start things off,  here’s what’s going on… Tarantino says that a script to his latest film, “The Hateful Eight” which is supposedly to be another Western got leaked to the internet on a website called Gawker after the director gave the script to a few of his actor friends. Tarantino has been upset and depressed since this happened. He now filed a lawsuit against Gawker just recently. That’s what is going on I believe? He now shelved the project and is now thinking about turning “The Hateful Eight” into a book instead of a movie.

Of course, all of Tarantino’s fans back him for this. I see his fans commenting and they’re like, “don’t mess with Tarantino” and stuff like that but to be honest, I’m actually neutral on this one. Why?

Mostly because this was all Quentin’s fault. If he didn’t want his script out there then he shouldn’t have given it to anybody to begin with. When you write a movie script or a book or any project, you keep it for yourself and not give it to anybody especially to people you don’t know well and can’t trust, ya know? Quentin brought all of this upon himself. You can see that he doesn’t want to admit that this was his own fault and now he’s blaming it on the website, Gawker ’cause he knows it would be a big money making opportunity for him.

Quentin is one of my favorite film directors of all time, I love ALL of his movies but I think the guy is an asshole sometimes. I’m sure he learned from his mistakes out of this one though, and I’m sure he’ll never give out his scripts to anyone again. If he doesn’t want any of his future scripts leaked then he should keep them hidden in a safe place. The internet is a big thing these days and leaks has been happening a lot throughout the entertainment industry.

JJ Abrams says the “Star Wars: Episode 7” script is done but I’m getting kind of skeptical…

JJ Abrams says the script for “Star Wars: Episode 7” is done finally and they’re gonna go full steam ahead which I think he’s saying they’re gonna start filming soon. He’s also not gonna film the new Star Wars in IMAX as he claims that they are loud cameras and they are not right to do intimate scenes with which is kind of funny ’cause JJ used to be obsessed with IMAX but he doesn’t like IMAX anymore?

Anyway, I’m getting pretty skeptical of “Star Wars 7” after seeing “Star Trek Into Darkness”. Now that JJ has jumped aboard to write the script himself after the previous writer left, I don’t know how good the script is gonna be. The script to “Star Trek Into Darkness” was an absolute disaster so hopefully “Star Wars 7” won’t be the same. Since Lawrence Kasdan helped JJ with the script… maybe that’ll help make the script for “Star Wars 7” better but I don’t know. JJ maybe an okay film maker but his writing has problems. Hopefully, him and Kasdan will do Star Wars justice.

Yes, “Episode 7” will be full of CGI and lens flare indeed but I hope it’s a good story. Even though the script is done you can see that JJ is still being secretive on the plot. Is this movie a return for all the original Star Wars gang? Like everyone else, I’m expecting that too after JJ confirmed R2 the droid will be in it. Han, Leia, Luke, Lando, Chewbacca, etc. They’ll all come back.

Hopefully they leave the Ewoks out of it, though. I have a feeling “Episode VII” will leave right off from “Return of the Jedi”. Could “Episode VII” start off on Endor where “Jedi” left off?

I’m more interested on who the new villain is gonna be. Shouldn’t be Vader. Should be somebody new. A return of Master Palpatine is still possible, though. He could have survived that fall after Vader threw him off at the end of “Jedi”. I’m hoping “Episode 7” is gonna be good.

More on the story, here.

Bill Murray reddit chat but totally neglects talk of “Ghostbusters 3″…

Bill Murray did a special online chat on reddit with fans hosted by AMA. It’s a good chat. Bill seems like an honest and interesting guy. They did the chat to help promote the movie, “Monuments Men” in which Bill Murray is in.

See the chat, here.

As you can see it’s a no holds barred — anything goes chat. They talk about everything except there is not one thing about Ghostbusters 3. Is that intentional? I think Bill is getting tired of talking about “Ghostbusters 3” ’cause you know fans will bombard him with questions about whether or not he’ll be in the third one but those questions hasn’t been approved by the editors of reddit.

It’s an interesting chat, though. Bill is an intelligent guy.

Why movie fans shouldn’t be hateful about Ben Affleck playing Batman…

So the big news that the upcoming, “Superman vs. Batman” movie has been pushed way back to the Spring of 2016. The reason for this move is that Warner Bros. didn’t want this film to compete with the new “Peter Pan” movie ’cause you can betcha, “Peter Pan”, will be a huge box office movie and also, WB’s wanted to compete against Marvel for the “X-Men: Apocalypse” movie being released around the film’s new release date. Sure enough, this got movie fans all excited thinking that this move is going to replace Ben Affleck ’cause of his rumored injured leg. Movie fans in facebook and other movie sites has been saying hateful things about Ben Affleck, it’s crazy.

Ya know, I’m all for Ben Affleck playing Batman and I’m willing to give him a chance. You can’t badly judge him ’cause of his “Daredevil” role. Yes, he wasn’t the greatest as Daredevil, I agree that film was horrible but that film was in the past. Ben’s acting has improved and matured ever since then. Ever see, “Argo”, and “The Town”? He was phenomenal in those films.

When it comes to film, I try not to follow popular opinion. I’m all about MY opinion and my OPINION alone. I’m not gonna dislike this actor and dislike that movie ’cause many others dislike it. I’m all about being real. I don’t jump the bandwagon.

If you give him a chance, I think Ben is gonna make a great Batman. I think everyone will agree once the movie comes out. Zack Snyder knows his actors, he’s good at choosing them. He doesn’t pick an actor for no reason so when he picked Ben Affleck for Batman then there must be something about him. The thing is, I’m tired of all the good looking and pretty looking actors playing Bruce Wayne/Batman. Time for something different and unique. With Ben’s version of Batman… I don’t think you’re gonna see the Dark Knight character ever again. I think this Batman will have a different costume and new look. Zack changed all the characters for “Man of Steel”, he’ll do the same with Batman and Wonder Woman.

I wish movie fans wouldn’t be so opinionated and hateful. They shouldn’t badly judge when the movie haven’t even came out yet. At least wait until you see Ben in the new batsuit and then you might have a different opinion on him.

With all this being said, I think Ben is gonna kill it as the new Batman. It could be the Batman that we’ve all been looking for… just wait. Don’t judge this soon. Wait until you see photos, a trailer, etc.

If you look at Ben’s face, you can clearly see that a face like that is good for a mask… it is probably his mouth. When Ben wore the nun mask for, “The Town” film, I think that is partly what helped him get the Batman role. There’s something about Ben wearing the Batman costume that made them want to hire him. When the film crew are auditioning for actors to play in Superhero films the key for them getting the role is how good they look in the costume. If they look good enough, chances are, they’re gonna get hired. That’s the first thing they look at is how good they look in a costume. That’s how Henry Cavill got the role for “Man of Steel”.

Give Ben a chance. I have total faith in him and I think Ben is gonna play the better Batman than all the previous ones: Keaton, Clooney, Kilmer, and Bale. Trust me, Ben will make a great Batman.

My Oscar predictions for 2014…

Well, the Oscar nominations for this year are out and as expected, “Gravity”, and “American Hustle”, scored the most nominations. I have seen both movies in the theater and while both movies are fantastic, I think, “Gravity” will win big this year.

Of course, there are a lot of snubs and it’s interesting that George Clooney got the snub for “Gravity” as I thought he was the best part of the film. The Oscars snubbing Clooney? Wow. They hardly ever do that. That’s okay though. Clooney isn’t worried about it as he already is an Oscar winner for his film, “Syriana” and I’m sure he will get nominated for acting roles again in the future. He might have a chance to get nominated for “The Monuments Men”.

I’ve noticed that “Lone Survivor” did end up making a few nominations at this years Oscars after all but only the smaller categories… it only got nominated for best Sound mixing/editing. It got the snub for everything else.

I don’t agree with Ellen Degeneres hosting the Oscars again ’cause I can’t stand that annoying woman.

Anyhow, here are my predictions for this years Oscars:

BEST PICTURE: Gravity

BEST ACTOR: Chiwetel Ejiofor “12 Years A Slave” (I’ve never seen the film yet but looks real good)

BEST ACTRESS: Sandra Bullock, “Gravity”

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE: Barkhad Abdi “Captain Phillips” (Haven’t seen “Captain Phillips” either but want to)

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE: Jennifer Lawrence, “American Hustle”

ANIMATED FEATURED FILM: “Frozen” (Another film I haven’t seen but want to)

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Gravity

COSTUME DESIGN: American Hustle

DIRECTING: Alfonso Cuaron “Gravity”

FILM EDITING: Gravity

MUSIC ORIGINAL SCORE: Gravity

MUSIC ORIGINAL SONG: “Ordinary Love” by U2 (if they won at the Golden Globes, they’ll win at the Oscars too)

PRODUCTION DESIGN: Gravity

SOUND EDITING: Gravity

SOUND MIXING:  Gravity

VISUAL EFFECTS: Gravity

WRITING ADAPTED SCREEN PLAY: 12 Years A Slave

WRITING ORIGINAL SCREEN PLAY: Her

I hate award shows but I like the Oscars. I watch it every year.

Film Review: Lone Survivor

Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, Eric Bana

Directed by: Peter Berg

Today, I just saw the film, “Lone Survivor” and here is my review…

Plot/synopsis: This film tells the real life story of a failed mission called, “Operation Red Wings”, in which four Seal Team 10 members are ordered to kill the Taliban leader, Ahmad Shahd in Afghanistan. It also tells the real life story of  Seal member, Marcus Luttrell (who also helped wrote the book).

Peter Berg who is famous for creating “Friday Night Lights” may have been making bad movies lately but I think he redeemed himself, this time. I was totally blown away with, “Lone Survivor”. Most new war movies are silly and not very good but finally Peter Berg makes an excellent one! This have got to be the best war film since, “Saving Private Ryan” (sorry about that, Kathryn Bigelow).

This film gives you a realistic look on what Navy Seal battles are all about. The director may have done his homework before making this film and did lots of research. The battles in this film were graphic, intense and terrifying. It wants to give you a better look on what Seals go through during war. To give you an idea of what war is like today in Afghanistan. War today is pretty much the same as all other wars in the past. Peter Berg did a great job on staying accurate and faithful to Navy Seals.

The performances of everybody in the cast was amazing. They all did a good job but I was most impressed with Mark Wahlberg and I think he may finally get his Oscar for this role. Everything else about the film was just perfect too: the script, camera work, musical score/soundtrack, etc. Warning though, the film can get quite graphic and very intense. It’s also a very sad film so be sure to have something to wipe your eyes with when you go to the theater to see this.

The action scenes may have been well done and may have been fun to watch but I believe this movie wasn’t made to entertain you. Like I said, it wants to give a realistic look of what it’s like fighting in a war today. War is unpredictable. You’ll never know what will happen. There maybe good guys vs. badguys but you’ll never know who’ll win, who will get injured or even killed. A soldier can fight even when going through the worse injuries you’ve ever seen… it doesn’t matter if they have a missing leg or missing fingers. You’ll see all that stuff in this film. So you WILL see some major gross-outs that will make you wanna look away from the screen.

There are mixed emotions however… some of this film can be enjoyable, heartfelt, sad, scary, and even funny (yes, there’s a little bit of comedy in this film). This film already has Oscar written all over it. It maybe too late for this film to make this year’s Oscars but definitely next year in 2015. If this film doesn’t win, “BEST PICTURE” for 2015 or even a nomination, then I won’t support the Oscars anymore.

Every American needs to see this important film… doesn’t matter if you’re liberal, conservative, libertarian or whatever party you are.

Two thumbs up for, “Lone Survivor”.

Did the Golden Globes pay tribute to a child molester??

https://twitter.com/RonanFarrow/status/422582684636807168

https://twitter.com/MiaFarrow/status/422753419137265664

It appears that Ronan Farrow doesn’t get along with his father Woody Allen too well at all as Ronan just ripped his father on twitter calling him a child molester while they were paying tribute to him at the Golden Globe awards. Even Mia Farrow went on the action.

I absolutely believe that Woody Allen could be a pedophile as he had relationships with underage women in his past and he even married a 16 year old once.

This is why I can’t stand award shows anymore. I tried to watch the Golden Globes a little bit but turned it off.

Woody Allen maybe a talented film maker but the guy’s a sick pervert who can’t seem to date women his own age. People like Woody Allen and Roman Polanski shouldn’t be allowed to work in film.

After seeing Ronan’s twitter, he doesn’t seem to be a big fan of President Obama either. He’s ripping Obama like crazy so for that reason alone, he earned a follow from me.

I’m glad I didn’t watch the Golden Globes last night as I heard it was a disastrous show anyways.
